The ‘Malorees Orchard’ is designated as a local site of nature conservation importance. It has dozens of trees, with pride of place going to an enormous 200-year-old Mulberry tree. It has many plants, a pond, and attracts butterflies, bees, birds, and has been home to badgers and foxes. Our Infant School offers several opportunities to enjoy the Orchard. We have also made it available to other local schools on occasion and welcome their use of it. (Manor School, Carlton Vale). Our children visit the Orchard through the school year during class time, around once every three weeks. During these sessions, children work on activities related to their context learning in class eg. learning about plants, seasons, animals, geography, art. Or sometimes they may use the Orchard as an outdoor learning space for activities such as team working, treasure hunts, picnics, even campfire building. Teachers make judgments on children's attainment on a termly basis using information they have collected during the term. This information includes evidence in books, classroom observations, work completed during guided and small group sessions, discussions with Teaching Assistants, and use of formative assessment results. We believe it is very important to use a range of sources to inform attainment judgments to ensure a whole picture of each child is considered. Progress meetings are held termly with the class teacher and senior leaders to monitor each child. By tracking the progress of every child we can quickly identify children who may benefit from additional help or extra challenge and identify the best way to deliver this. At Malmesbury Primary School we actively support and uphold British values, which are democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. Once children are in Key Stage 2, they are expected to become more independent in their reading. They use Accelerated Reader which involves reading books and taking quizzes that check their comprehension. Children in Key Stage 1 are encouraged to be Maths Magicians, securing their recall of addition and subtraction facts. As they move into Key Stage 2 they can become Times Table Superstars through rapid recall of multiplication and division facts. Pupils are prepared for Common Entrance and Scholarship to our destination public schools. Typically, we feed to Eton, Harrow, Oundle, Radley, Rugby, Shrewsbury, Stowe, Winchester, Uppingham, Downe House, Tudor Hall, and Cheltenham Ladies College. Throughout the school pupils are taught by subject specialists in their first year they have most lessons in their form room but thereafter all lessons are taught in subject classrooms. Pupils are streamed from arrival at the school, with class sizes never going above fifteen. This year the AB rate was an impressive 79%, with an AA* rate of 58%. Five candidates got straight A's and we had the top candidates in Biology and History at Rugby, the 2nd overall candidate at Radley as well as the top performer in Classics, three special commendations from Uppingham, and two excellent performance awards from Oundle. Ysgol Maes Y Morfa Primary School. This school is great and if you need help with any of your work or you're finding it difficult the teachers will support you. They will always help you out with anything that you find hard. Come and meet The Little Motivators, we worked with Mrs. Jones our Headteacher to create the values which help us with understanding how to value each other and ourselves. They are awesome!!!! After school clubs are brilliant and we have lots of fun. Don't get a red card or you will have to go to Mr. Gravell or even worse Mrs. Jones. BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, SUCCEED is our school motto and that is what we do. On Friday in reward assembly, we show how we achieved all week. The song 'Eye of Tiger' plays as we come in and we all feel proud and excited about what we have done. Our prizes and certificates are for keeping up with our work, trying hard, being creative and independent, being in school and aiming for the best we can be.!!!! We have an outside court for the older children to play football, basketball, and netball. The year 6's have made a rota to keep us all safe when we play. The subjects we do in school are Literacy, Mathematics, ICT, P.E, Welsh, Science, and Art plus loads more. All the subjects we do are amazing and this is the right school to put your son\daughter in, to get a great education. We have Art as therapy and nurture groups to support us in how we feel and to support us with making the right choices. If you are upset you can go to the art room and calm down. We have a 20-minute session every day and the children are grouped into sets depending on where they are up to in the program. Letters and Sounds are split into six phases and these are taught from Nursery up until year 2. We currently follow the Local Authority plans for phonics. Lyndon Green Infant School is a popular inclusive school with a special unit for children with Cognition and Learning Difficulties. A partnership is a keyword here at Lyndon Green, and all those associated with the school, staff, governors, parents, and children, celebrate achievement in all its forms, value highly the contribution made by children with special needs, and enjoy working together. We share a campus with our partner junior school, and there are regular cooperation and consultation between the two schools to ensure continuity and progression for our pupils. Strong links exist between our school and Garretts Green Nursery School, and we also have close links with Brays Special School for children with physical disabilities, situated immediately opposite our main entrance. We also enjoy the mutual benefits of working with other schools, as part of a teaching school alliance. Lyndon Green Infant School, a school where the children are at the heart of all we do, and where each child is encouraged to achieve success and develop a love of learning that we hope will continue throughout the rest of their school career and on into adult life.
