- Children only have one childhood so it is vitally important that parents and teachers get it right for them. Moreton Hall Preparatory School is where your children will become the best that they can be. Our happy, purposeful, warm atmosphere provides what we believe to be the perfect environment to cultivate aspiration, confidence, and excitement for pupils to learn, not just about the world we live in, but also about themselves as individuals and contributors to the future. Whilst we keep pace with all that children face in the modern world, our founding stones are simple and traditional: strong moral values, mutual respect and to reach for the high expectations we set for ourselves. Our ambition for the pupils of Moreton Hall is the same as it is for all the staff here, simply to be the best that we can be. Moreton Hall founds its provision on three core qualities: that our children feel happy, encouraged, and self-assured. People often tell us about the ‘invisible magic’ they feel when they come to our school and our unique brand of purpose, nurture, and aspiration is certainly a part of this. We truly believe that a prep school education at Moreton Hall will provide your children with the ideal environment in which to develop hearts, minds, and spirits, preparing them fully for life at senior school and beyond. Our school is built on fundamental Catholic values which are embedded in the daily life of our students. We gather each morning in the chapel for assembly to share worship and celebrate our individual and collective achievements students also attend mass throughout the term. Should families wish, children can prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion. We have strong Catholic roots but we welcome and celebrate families of all faiths. - At MBC, our students are encouraged to extend themselves intellectually and strive to achieve - whether in the classroom, on the playing field, or the stage. For a young girl to grow into a woman capable of dealing with life's challenges, they need a school experience that allows them to have both a breadth of mind and heart depth. Moreton Bay College has a long tradition of educating girls. The college was founded in 1901 by Miss Alison Greene and her sister Anne. The college has had a strong philosophy of educating the whole person – body, mind, heart, and spirit. The focus on academic excellence, underpinned by a rich and caring pastoral program, serves as the foundation of our girls' educational experience. This is coupled with a vibrant and robust co-curricular program across visual and performing arts, cultural activities, and a wide range of sports. Girls need an environment that gives both boundaries and freedom to explore and experiment, take risks, debate, and challenge. Moreton Bay College provides this. Our outstanding teaching staff strives to ensure girls achieve their personal best, embrace the opportunities to develop as leaders, volunteer, develop the courage to overcome, and act with integrity. As a single-sex College for girls, they are free to be themselves and build resilient and robust self-esteem. Choosing a school can be one of the most challenging and difficult decisions a parent can make. While this can seem overwhelming, it is worth remembering that it is an investment in your child's future. I believe you can feel a great school, and it is only by visiting Moreton Bay College that you will get a feeling for the values and culture present. As a Christian school in the Uniting Church tradition, our school is committed to fostering our students' personal, moral, and academic growth through Engagement's school values. We live and learn with passion, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness. We embrace innovation and creativity to contribute to and shape the future. We act with integrity and goodwill in all that we do. We show courage and resilience. We care for ourselves, others, and the environment. We nurture the best in each other. We are open-minded and respectful towards each other. We work collaboratively to achieve our common purpose. Established in 1901, Moreton Bay College has witnessed much change while maintaining the core values and traditions established by our Founders, the Greene sisters. What was once primarily a boarding school with an enrolment of 26 in Wynnum's small seaside town, today is a thriving P-12 day school on Wondall Road, Manly West. Conversations with Moreton Bay "Old Girls" of all ages reveal what a special place this school was for them. The college feels that it is essential to acknowledge its rich past and maintain the Greene sisters' standards while also looking forward and embracing change. Moreton Bay College takes great pride in its history. The College Archives, established in our Centenary Year of 2001, is how the college preserves, records, and communicates its history. The resources are accessed by a wide variety of the college and the wider community members. A significant focus of the celebration of the college's history is the annual Founders' Day Service. Attended by Years 4 to 12, along with special guests, the service allows the College community to reflect upon, give thanks for and celebrate the establishment of our outstanding school in 1901. By providing a challenging, supportive, and inspiring learning environment based on Christian principles and beliefs, Moreton Bay College seeks to develop in each girl intellectual and social confidence, integrity, adaptability, humility, and an active sense of responsibility for self, others, and our world. Our Vision, The Moreton Bay Colleges, will be acknowledged as leaders in single-sex education, nurtured and guided by our shared values and shared philosophy. Together we are stronger. In pursuit of our vision, we are committed to the ongoing development of enquiring and creative minds in safe and supportive, single-sex learning contexts guided by Christian principles and beliefs. As Christian colleges in the Uniting Church tradition, we are deeply committed to fostering our students' personal, moral, spiritual, and academic growth and their interest in serving the community. The Moreton Bay Colleges are active in pursuing the following values through word and deed. Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys' College recently launched its first joint Strategic Plan, guiding the Colleges through 2018. The launch of the joint Strategic Plan supports the two school's Master plans. The key strategic priorities identified through the plan include: Our Student Experience Our People Our Culture Facilities and Resources Sustainability Measures of Success
- At MBBC, our college students are encouraged to extend themselves intellectually and strive to achieve whether this is in the classroom, the playing field, or the stage. For your son to grow into a man capable of dealing with life's challenges, he needs a school experience that allows him to become, as our motto suggests, life adventurers and life achievers! As a father of two boys attending Moreton Bay Boys' College, it is essential for me as my sons become men, they ask challenging questions, think critically, develop research skills proven to help them in higher education, and are encouraged to be active in their communities to take their learning beyond academic study. College is the right place for them to be! Moreton Bay Boys' College has a strong philosophy of educating the whole person-body, mind, heart, and spirit. A rich and caring pastoral program underpins the focus on academic excellence. This is coupled with a rich co-curricular program to engage your son across visual and performing arts, cultural activities, and a wide range of sports. Boys need a learning environment that gives both the boundaries and the freedom to explore and experiment, take risks, debate, and challenge! Moreton Bay Boys' College provides this. Our outstanding teaching staff strives to ensure that your son will achieve his personal best, embrace opportunities to develop as a leader, volunteer, develop the courage to overcome, and act with integrity. As a single-sex college, your son is free to be himself and build resilient and robust self-esteem. Like our sister school, Moreton Bay College, Moreton Bay Boys' College has a strong tradition in single-sex education. We are also a young and dynamic school embracing innovation and change. This creates an exciting learning environment for your son to thrive. The Moreton Bay Colleges will be acknowledged as leaders in single-sex education, nurtured and guided by our shared values and shared philosophy. Together we are stronger. At Moreton Bay Boys' College, we strive to be a leading internationally-minded school that offers its boys an innovative, broadly based educational experience. Our philosophy is built on the foundation of Christian values. It aims to develop each boy's critical thinking and individual abilities, equipping them with the skills necessary to be successful, productive, and responsible global citizens. Moreton Bay Boys' College is an independent boys' school conducted within the Christian traditions of the Uniting Church in a brother/sister relationship with Moreton Bay College, a single-sex school for girls. During the 1990s, families of Moreton Bay College (MBC) and the broader community who live in Brisbane's bayside suburbs had sought a local boys-only school that replicated the ethos and culture of MBC and provided an equivalent educational experience for their sons. Subsequently, Moreton Bay College and the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA) agreed, making possible the establishment of Moreton Bay Boys' College. A separate, not-for-profit company, Moreton Bay Boys' College Ltd (MBBC Ltd), which owns and operates the College, was incorporated on 10 April 2003. As the first independent boys' school to be established within Brisbane in some 65 years, the establishment of Moreton Bay Boys' College was a defining moment in history. The school presented the opportunity for families from Brisbane's eastern suburbs – and increasingly further afield – to benefit from a combination of enduring values and an innovative approach to teaching and learning. The school opened in 2003 with Preschool and Year 1 on vacant land at MBC. In 2004, MBBC moved to its permanent home at 302 Manly Road, Manly West with Preschool, Year 1, and Year 2. Years 3 – 5 were added in 2005, Years 6-9 in 2006, Year 10 in 2008, and Year 11 in 2009, with the first Year 12s graduating from the College in 2010. The College will continue to expand until it reaches a maximum capacity of between 750-800 students. MBBC celebrated ten years as a College in 2014 with family pavers and a time capsule buried on the campus. The MBBC curriculum is designed and tailored to provide a seamless transition for each boy, with the end goal that every student achieves his desired post-school destination. This is achieved by broadening the boys' experiences through an innovative, relevant, and engaging curriculum. BBC's curriculum is designed around the specific, distinctly different ways boys think and learn, and the emotional support they need to maximize their potential. We believe our boys should be able to engage in a wide range of academic and co-curricular endeavors and be free to express themselves in a way that is not limited by stereotypes. An all-boys environment also allows us to develop our resources towards boys' particular needs, from the books they prefer to read to larger sized classrooms, high levels of technology, and large, open spaces in which to play and build relationships. Our teachers are highly qualified professionals who are experts in boys' education committed to providing quality, innovative education and positive role modeling and mentoring. We select teachers passionate about working with boys and who value and understand the specific way boys learn. Our staff sit on panels, belong to professional associations, speak at educational forums, and are committed to ongoing professional development. Many have Master's degrees and doctorates. We have several specialists who are leaders in their chosen fields. Our combination of youth and expertise, commitment, and passion, is instrumental in our offering. Your son will receive a world-class education because we love what we do. We strive to help your son be his very best by always giving our very best.
- Birla is very fortunate to have Chris Jack, formerly an educational administrator at Samford Valley Steiner school, as our young school leader. Chris provided guidance and support to the founders since the school's inception and has now stepped in to continue to guide and direct Birali to fulfill the founding vision in his role as Principal.
- Most non-government schools in Australia are affiliated with a religious denomination such as Catholic schools and Anglican schools. Our school is non-denominational. That means our staff attends different churches, and our school is not aligned with one denomination. When we use the term “Christian,” we refer to the accounts of Jesus Christ found in the Bible. Jesus Christ said and did many remarkable things, but the most fantastic thing that he did for us is that he died on the cross to have a relationship with God through faith. If you have a moment, the best video that we have found explains this is called “Falling Plates. “ Christians believe that faith in Jesus answers the big questions in life, and it also compels us to be loving and generous to the people around us. Ultimately, we want to tell other people about Jesus and make a positive impact in the world if you have never considered the claims of the Christian faith. The Preschool at Australian Christian College: Hume runs a 15-hour government-funded Kindergarten Program and a 3-year-old Pre-Kinder Program. The Kindergarten Program provides a gentle transition into school life and preparing Prep, thus increasing the chances that your child will have a positive start at school. A qualified early childhood teacher leads the program, and the children are involved in readiness skills to prepare them for Prep. The benefits of Kinder include: Your child enjoys a gentle transition into the education process. It increases your child’s ability to achieve success in Prep. Your child will develop relationships with his or her peers, ‘buddies,’ and teachers. Your child will gain knowledge of the layout and the routines of the school so that Prep does not become a frightening prospect for them. Potential cost savings, as the Kinder fees are generally significantly lower than other services available. It introduces your children to Christian values at an earlier stage in their education. While the Kinder program is predominantly play-based, children also participate in: Introduction to Literacy Introduction to Mathematics – numbers, patterns, sorting, days of the week, months of the year, etc. Gross motor skills development, e.g., ball skills Fine motor skills development, e.g., writing, arts, and craft. School Services involving singing, Bible stories, prayer, singing the National Anthem, and raising the Australian flag Performances include singing, dance, actions, costumes, instruments. The children attend classes alongside the mainstream primary classes and participate in weekly School Services and performances at the end of the first and third terms. Australian Christian College proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all aspects of school life. As such, our Christian faith underpins the learning program. As a result of attending this school, your child will become an ‘investigative learner’ who seek answers, research thoroughly, explore new ways, create alternatives, challenge assumptions, think deeply, and test theories. This approach to education ensures your child’s brain is not merely filled with knowledge but that he or she gains a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Australian Christian College operates a three and four-year-old Kindergarten. The four-year-old program is funded and conforms to the Commonwealth Government’s Early Years Learning Framework. After Kindergarten, your child’s learning program continues from Prep to Year 6. The learning program has a rigorous emphasis on the core subjects of Maths and English. Your child will also study Humanities, Science, Health & Physical Education, Art, Music, Drama, Japanese, and Bible during their time at Australian Christian College. A great experience in the first years of schooling can make all of the difference as your child develops.

View full school
