The German School Hurghada is starting with the Nursery for children from 2 till 4 years, followed by the pre-school for children aged from 4 years on. At the age of 6 years, Primary School is beginning. The deadline for the age is the 30th of September. After that, the students will be arranged according to their past performance. The move up to the higher classes will be decided according to the regulation of the Thüringen ministry of education. In the Egyptian part, there will be the national examination in addition after classes 3, 6, and 9. The final exam after year 12 is the German IB which allows our students access to most universities worldwide. The groups in the pre-school are equipped with German and Egyptian specially trained staff. In a playing atmosphere, the children will be prepared for school. The language of the pre-school is mainly German. Children who do not speak German will learn it in these 2 years and will have an examination after KG 2. German children will get their first words of the Arabic language, children who already speak the two languages can intensify their know-how. English is starting in primary school. In primary school, the teaching of classes 1 to 4 will be according to the regulations of the ministry of education of Thüringen. In all German subjects, the language will be German. The other entire subjects which are regulated by the Egyptian ministry of education will be taught in Arabic. The junior high school contains classes 5 to 10. The subjects will be chosen according to the regulation of the ministry of education of Thuringen. The Egyptian subjects are in addition and obligatory for all Egyptian students, facultative for the German students. After class 6 will be the examination of Ibtedaia, after class 9 the examination of India. With the successfully passed exams, or for the German children with the regular move up, the children will enter class 10. After class 10 the students will do the German secondary I examination. In the senior high school containing classes 11 to 12, the students will be prepared for the GIB (International Baccalaureat) as the final exam, Arabic has to be taken till the final exam. The strong British curriculum and the high achievements in British qualifications have helped our graduates join the universities of their choice and be more in demand in the job market. Proudly, two of our students in the year 2015 have been awarded "The Best Achievers Award" by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel Board. They are Fadi Ehab in IGCSE Mathematics and Mostafa El – Shandawily in Advanced level Accounting. We believe in stressing academic excellence and personal and social development through our programs. This is by our Vision statement that says: "The school is working towards developing the essential life skills as well as the cognitive, cultural and technological skills for learners' according to the principles of democratic education." Our goals include the provision of the best education, meeting the needs of students and parents, and promoting good communication among the school, home, and the larger community. We help students move away from memorization of facts to also knowing how to use the information and relate it to daily life. Therefore, practical, oral, and thinking skills are developed continuously through academic programs and activities. We are a certified school by Cambridge International Examinations, Edexcel, the British council, and the Ministry of Education for teaching Cambridge and Edexcel curricula, and preparing our students for the British International Exams such as Checkpoint tests, the IGCSE, and the As/ A level GCE exams. The teachers at EBS are experienced, of a higher caliber, friendly, and yet firm. They motivate their students who take pride in what they learn and do. The student's academic progress is periodically reported to parents and students Formative and summative means of assessment are used to evaluate our students' performance based on what they know, understand, and can do.
