At Ohana International School of Tokyo, we aim to teach the children in our care how to live in the community, embrace difference, and be honorable citizens in the global world. We all can achieve academically. Combining this with love, respect, honesty, and the ability to express one's thoughts openly and truthfully, we are certain that we have the right ingredients for the success of our children and their families. We are fully aware of the enormous responsibility that we have in providing the best possible care physically, emotionally, socially, and morally for the children and families who are in our care. We honor the fact that parents have chosen our school — out…

Over seventy years ago, the founder of KEIMEI GAKUEN, Takasumi Mitsui, returned to Japan from England just before WW2. There were no schools in Japan that accepted returning international students who wanted to broaden their knowledge and language skills acquired abroad. In April 1940, Takasumi decided to open up his own house in Minato ward, Tokyo to start KEIMEI GAKUEN with thirteen teachers and eight students. Today KEIMEI GAKUEN has over six hundred students who are eager to be leaders in the ever-growing global community. Over thirty percent of the students have lived abroad and each one of them contributes to making up diverse and dynamic learning environments …

We feel that it is most important for a child to understand how special they are. We help them do this by showering them sincerely with love in the same way that we shower them with English, in a safe and secure environment. We believe that this is the first step in helping them to recognize how precious their family, friends, teachers, and the whole of nature is. We feel that by finding out about the customs and cultures of other countries and trying to understand and accept differences, they come to know the wonderfulness of their own country and also develop a global attitude. English is an essential part of this, providing a tool to express their feelings and thoughts…

The school day begins at 9 AM with a brief assembly of all students to enjoy some Biblical counsel, sing hymns, and hear announcements. After Assembly, all students help clean the school. Academic study time begins at 9:30 AM. Each student and the teacher consult the student’s check sheet to determine what the student needs to wor…
