  1. The Fukuoka International School offers a high-quality international educational experience for students from ages 3 to 18+. We offer both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in grades 11 and 12 and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). Starting in August 2018, FIS will become the only school in Kyushu to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP). FIS is accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education as a School Juridical Body, "Gakko Hojin" and also by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). FIS values the connection between its host country of Japan and the numerous other nationalities within our community. FIS serves diplomatic families, mobile expatriate families, and local families who are seeking a world-class international education. We pride ourselves on preparing students to be successful in the ever-changing world. FIS graduates go on to earn places at universities all around the world. FIS offers a vibrant and varied After School Activities program. Students regularly go on the field and cultural trips that extend their learning outside the classroom as part of the inquiry-based learning approach. Fukuoka International School is a private, non-sectarian, co-educational day school that offers a comprehensive educational program for students of all nationalities. In 1972, the Fukuoka International School was established upon the closure of the U.S. Air Force Base School in Itazuke. It is the only accredited Pre-K to 12 international school in Kyushu. The original school building and land were owned and supplied by the Japan Baptist Mission, but the growth of the foreign population and demands of education compelled the school to expand. The mission of Fukuoka International School is to create a dynamic learning environment in which students can be educated to high international academic standards. We strive to be a model of unity in diversity in which the individual is respected and each student is challenged at his/her level. FIS consists of three science labs, two music rooms, two art rooms, a makerspace, and a gymnasium in addition to the classrooms. The school also contains a library, student lunch areas in the foyer, a dispensary, a kitchen, and an administrative block. The M.A.D.(Music/ Art/ Design) building (Annex) is located one block from the main campus. The building has a music room, fine arts room, design laboratory, performance area, and a martial arts dojo. Wi-Fi is available throughout the school buildings. The school is located in Momochi, a pleasant residential area at the mouth of the Muromachi River, in the western part of Fukuoka. It is a 10 to 15-minute walk from Fujisaki subway station and has excellent access to public transportation. Fukuoka International School has chosen to implement the PYP in elementary school. Therefore, the IB learner profile is used as the standard to exemplify a truly educated child. Elementary teachers lead children to become inquisitive and seek new answers to ongoing questions. Students are expected to become knowledgeable, principled in their lives, and communicate effectively with peers. Young learners are encouraged to become open-minded about the world around them and embrace meaningful challenges in life. Overall, children should mature into caring individuals, balanced in thought, and with the ability to reflect on their actions. To educate children to this standard, the elementary faculty believes that one of the most important components of a good school is the partnership between school and parents. The important contributions parents make toward a child's success in school is recognized and valued. The elementary staff cherishes excellent relationships with parents as all work together for the best interests of children. The secondary division at FIS is organized into two divisions: the middle school (grades 6-8) and the high school (grades 9-12). To bridge the elementary division’s IB PYP curriculum and the G11 and 12 IB DP, FIS has adopted the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Particular attention is paid to character and skill development, intercultural understanding and respect, and how we manage a healthy balance between our responsibilities and passions. We have three libraries, for both Elementary and Secondary students that support the IB programs. Our libraries have collections, which support the curriculum, facilitate research, and promote the interest in reading. They also provide library services to faculty, parents, and others in the school community. Students from Prek 3 to grade 5 visit the library once a week to check out and return books. We have activities such as read-aloud, read to yourself, making crafts, and unit collaboration with homeroom teachers. The upper elementary students learned how to use our online catalog, differentiate between websites, and doing researches on projects. We also have summer reading programs. For Secondary students, they get to check out books and work on their research projects. Our purpose at FIS is to serve mobile international families and international Japanese. We understand that families will have children with many different needs, different strengths, and academic aptitudes. We are an inclusive school that does not have a pass/fail admissions test. As long as we believe that a student can be successful within our programs, then we will offer admission!

  3. The primary goal of the University of Teacher Education Fukuoka is to train teachers who are rich in knowledge and full of teaching practical skills at undergraduate and postgraduate schools. The RCTP has several roles, namely, leading Faculty Development at Fukuoka University of Education, supporting and implementing our students’ practice teaching (kyoikujisshu) as well as developing the teaching of and research about multi-disciplinary subjects such as Human Rights and Dowa Education, Life Environment Studies (Seikatsuka), hours for comprehensive studies (Sogotekina-gakushu-no-jikan) and the school librarians’ licensing course. Center for Health and Sports Science carries out health management of students and employees in this university and health science research in an integrated manner in order to maintain and promote their physical and mental health. The Library and Information Resource Center provides books, scholarly journals, and information infrastructure and stimulating education and research within our university to support the management of promoting research using academic information. Also, this center contributes to the local community by providing academic information. The Library and Information Resource Center were established in 2014 by merging the attached Libraries and Information Processing Center. Educators work together on research projects which are designed to promote educational research. The library is in charge of academic information, such as books and scholarly journals. Students and teachers can utilize these. After earthquake-resisting repair work in 2013, the new library was opened in October 2014. It is opened to the public, and they are allowed to inspect documents, photocopy, and use the children’s library. Also, a new ”Learning Commons” is installed as a study space. View full university
  4. The Japan University of Economics was established as a college specializing in Economics in 1968 and now specialized in Economics, Business, and Management. JUE currently has become a leading institution in accepting international students in Japan. Based upon our founding principles, we accept students from all walks of life who have minds rich in the spirit of inquiry into the field of economics and the spirit to take on challenges. Put another way, the fundamental educational principle of the Japan University of Economics is the cultivation of creative economists through the individual's development, based upon the recognition that the awakening of innate individual talents is the start point for manifesting creativity. Since its inception in three departments, Economics, Management, and Trade (currently renamed Commerce), our university has endeavored to train people who will contribute to society's development. In March 2007, we established a Department of Management Law. In 2014, the establishment of a Department of Health and Sports Management brought the number of departments to five with nineteen courses, all dedicated to providing the skills and abilities suited to the needs of globalized societies in the information age. In recent years we have, at the same time as welcoming overseas students, engaging experts from the world of business and industry, strengthening language programs to meet the demands of companies in the global marketplace, and putting efforts into a full program of IT education, also aimed to contribute to regional society through the provision of opportunities for continuing adult education. Individuality means the inborn characteristics specific to each person. Concerning education at the university level, this refers not to specific character traits but rather to specialist expertise attained by high-level education and training. At the Tsuzuki Education's Japan University of Economics, students choose, within the broader field of economics, courses that they are interested in or have a particular aptitude for, and focus on acquiring an individual specialism, thereby establishing a niche for themselves that others cannot imitate or follow. We place the most outstanding value upon the pursuit of professional specialism as a facet of individual identity. The decision as a university to eschew becoming a generalist university with multiple faculties and to remain devoted to and specialist in the study of economics and related fields is an expression of our belief in the individual specialism. Originality as unique creativity is something individuality alone brings. Our university promotes life by developing individuality, from specialization at university to a specialized professional position, and ultimately to one's true vocation and complete self-realization. The Japan University of Economics is one of the largest education providers to overseas students in Japan, with over 20 nationalities on campus. Moreover, many graduates can work in foreign and Japanese companies and have started their own business worldwide. JUE is ideal not only for those students who are considering going on to full undergraduate or graduate study in Japan but for anyone who wishes to improve their Japanese while enjoying all that university life has to offer. We hope with all our hearts that, by broadening horizons and imparting specialist knowledge for the development of each individual's respective talents, each of the young people who study with us can go forth into the world as truly global citizens. "We want to develop the individual-as-specialist, give them confidence, and send them forth into the world" is the salutation from our founders to the globalized world of the 21st century. 5. The International College of Arts and Sciences at Fukuoka Women’s University (FWU) forms the new educational structure of FWU with its three departments: International Liberal Arts, Environmental Science, and Food and Health Sciences. In this new framework, we place “International Vision and Sensibility,” “Leadership,” and “Inventiveness and Creativity” as our central educational principles. Besides, the link between universities and the local communities is vital, even more so in Fukuoka Women’s University because we are a public university. The link with the local area and community to significantly support our international students, in particular, is indispensable for the globalization of FWU. Our philosophy is to rear women who are knowledgeable and of sound judgment, women who can flexibly react in this era of change and can be versatile in applying their abilities. At the same time, we want them to contribute to creating an even better society for Japan and overseas countries and regions, from the viewpoint of Asia or the entire world. The aims of the educational activities of FWU are as follows: “The nurturing of people that have leadership and can act globally” as well as “To contribute to the academics of our community and society, culture and everyday life.” Education at FWU not only thoroughly takes place inside the classroom or on campus but also beyond these borders. This kind of action is anticipated in and out of Japan, and a bright future awaits us when these students who will have learned an international sense and balance will lead Japan in the 21st Century as robust youth. FWU -located in one of Asia’s most attractive cities, namely Fukuoka- has accumulated a history of personal and academic exchange with universities in Asia and around the globe. To give one example, in our WJC (The World of Japanese Culture) program, which was established in order to commemorate the foundation of the new International College of Arts and Sciences, the short term international students can take lessons on Japanese contemporary culture, mainly centered around Pop Culture, which has been receiving increasing attention among youngsters abroad. Moreover, FWU is developing dynamic international exchange activities as a foundation through societal and international cooperation, such as academic and student exchanges with top universities worldwide. FWU was established initially in 1923 (Taisho year 12) as Fukuoka Prefectural College for Women, and it was the first public women’s college in Japan. Today it still upholds this tradition of bright women’s higher education. FWU produced many graduates who played an active part domestically or abroad, and it has mainly contributed to the higher education of women in Japan. View full university
  6. Fukuoka University is dedicated to holistic education, the whole person's cultivation, and the integration of knowledge through interdisciplinary education and research. We seek to embrace specialists and generalist approaches in teaching and research, nurturing academic excellence and the human spirit's highest ideals. In this way, we strive to fulfill our mission of contributing to society by producing creative and spontaneous graduates who can think and act both locally and globally in pursuit of truth and liberty. With a history and tradition dating back 80 years, Fukuoka University has established itself as one of the largest private universities in western Japan. Guided by its founding philosophy and commitment to education and research, the University today has 31 departments in nine undergraduate faculties and 34 majors in ten graduate schools. Modern society is undergoing enormous change through globalization, the shift to a low-birth, aging population, and rapid development in science and technology, and higher education must evolve to keep pace. The University will continue to improve the quality of work in education, research, and medicine, contributing to the regional and international communities. The Fukuoka University Vision 2014‒2023 defines growth strategies for the medium and long terms from a broad perspective. As the University approaches its 100th anniversary, we remain true to our founding philosophy, working to become an even more active and dynamic university in the future. As a leading university in the Kyushu region, Fukuoka University continues to work closely with the communities it serves, contributing to society as a center for education, research, and medicine that meets the era's requirements. Our credo incorporates the following four key objectives: Provide education, research, and medicine that meets the requirements of the era and society. Support advanced, high-level research. Nurture a global perspective through close relations with other nations, especially in East Asia. Help vitalize and develop Fukuoka and the surrounding region. Fukuoka University recognizes these extracurricular activities as a training field and supports them as an integral part of our holistic education. Altogether about 7,000 students, or some 36% of all students, participate in these extracurricular activities, cultivating their minds and training their bodies to gain a sense of autonomy and self-motivation while building character in an ideal environment. Our extracurricular activities are organized by the Student's Union, whose membership comprises all Fukuoka University students and some staff members. The Union plans and organizes its activities in coordination with the standing managers of clubs in both the academic and cultural section and the sports section and with the Committee for General Affairs, which is composed of 20 student representatives, each of whom is elected by their class. As of April 2017, there are 43 clubs and one society in the sports section and 34 clubs, and one society in the academic and cultural section. Besides these, there are 77 circles. There are 19 clubs, one society, and two circles in the Faculty of Commerce Evening School. All of these clubs and societies are very active and play a crucial role in university life. Some academic and cultural clubs are engaged in unique research activities, while others are highly evaluated for their volunteer work. Fukuoka University has a long and proud tradition of sporting prowess. Its sports clubs have a successful record in national and other championships. They have produced excellent athletes in the sports industry who have participated in the Olympic Games and Universiade competitions or become professional baseball, soccer, or basketball players. 7. Situated in the western part of Japan and comprising two faculties (the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing) as well as a graduate school with two distinct graduate courses, Fukuoka Prefectural University has long been a focal point for education and research and has played a pioneering role in the fields of healthcare and public welfare. In response to the challenges of the 21st century (such as Japan's rapidly aging society, advances in medical technology, and shifts like medical care), Fukuoka Prefectural University underwent a thorough renewal process in 2006. In recognition of technological developments and the dynamic nature of education, Fukuoka Prefectural University has recently embraced e-learning as a means of making itself more accessible to society. As a result, the conceptual distance between teacher and student has narrowed considerably, thereby empowering the individual and revealing self-study and self-teaching opportunities. This emphasis on individual study and exploration is complemented by the highly specialized and nationally-recognized professional training programs offered by the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing. It is perhaps here that our commitment to producing the leaders and innovators of tomorrow is most apparent. Our graduates commonly go on to become, for example, exemplary social workers, mental health welfare professionals, nurses, teachers, childcare workers, and government officials. Our location at the foot of the Hikosan mountain serves as a constant reminder of our close relationship with nature and the local community. An enduring spirit of cooperation and friendship empowers our students and encourages them to contribute, wherever and whenever possible, to local citizens' welfare. Our students have a well-deserved reputation for being enthusiastic volunteers on a local level and play an active role in developing the global society. To this end, the university offers some exciting exchange programs and study-abroad programs, and linguistic training in English, Korean and Chinese. Furthermore, and as part of our commitment to utilizing society's full potential, Fukuoka Prefectural University has established several on-campus institutions designed to nurture previously untapped sources of talent. These institutions include our Life-long Welfare Research Center, the Health Promotion Education and Research Center, and the School and Child Support Center for School Refusal. At the heart of this network of philanthropic and research-based institutions is the Social Contribution and Volunteer Support Center, which specializes in promoting exchange and cooperation with the local community and offering various interdisciplinary study projects. Fukuoka Prefectural University's role in promoting the local region received worldwide recognition with the inclusion of Yamamoto Sakubei, depicting Tagawa's coalmines, into UNESCO's Memory of the World Register. This accomplishment is in many ways representative of our university ethos, emphasizing as it does not only the close relationship between the university and the surrounding community but also between individuals. This, I believe, is the essence of Fukuoka Prefectural University's charm. I will make every effort to develop our campus and educational and research facilities so that all who come here, whether as students or citizens, will feel privileged and glad. View full university
  8. Fukuoka Institute of Technology is known for its robust features of the best employment rate among private universities in Kyushu and the attentive education that it provides, as stated in our motto, "For all the students!". At FIT, all of our faculty and staff work together as a team to support every student, as if they were their child, to broaden their possibilities for the future. We also commit to contribute to manufacturing industries in the Kyushu area by collaborating with local communities and companies. We consider the question, "What can be done only by human beings in this modern society with the advanced technologies of artificial intelligence?". We answer that people should have the ability to find and solve problems by completing the necessary tasks. The key to open up the future is the intelligent productive power of humans. We believe that our students should pursue the depth of something that they like to do rather than seeking useful skills right away. To find passion is essential for manufacturing, which will be the origin of infinite energy. Make the best use of FIT's educational environment to find your passion and follow your dream. We encourage you to have broad interests to explore different fields to have a variety of perspectives that will lead to flexible ideas. Join group activities, like clubs, by all means, to build your network, which will become a great asset. A real engineer who owns the future is a person with good manners, flexibility, and knowledge. Aiming to be the best educational hub in Kyushu, we will be your reliable supporter who will support you to make your dreams come true in your future, even after ten years from the day you graduate from a FIT. Studying at a graduate school aims to acquire the ability to do research and development without help from other people. Accordingly, it is inevitably essential to make a continuous effort to obtain the ability to find creative research themes and to study useful methods for advancing your research in solving difficult problems. Our university has a Faculty of Engineering with four departments, Faculty of Information Engineering with four departments, and Faculty of Socio-Environmental Studies with one department. We also have the Graduate School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Socio-Environmental Studies on these undergraduate schools. The Graduate School of Engineering offers seven master's degree programs and two doctoral degree programs. We have day and evening courses, mainly for the convenience of adult students. Our Graduate School of Engineering aims to produce international engineers who will support and develop the future industrial world in the 21st century. We are also promoting international exchanges with Stanford University and other foreign universities. The Graduate School of Socio-Environmental Studies with one master program on economic management and the law administration has been opened in the 2007 academic year for the university graduates and the adult students, including those from other countries, who are eager to acquire the ability and skill of business for the environmental problem solving, and also to deepen the mutual understanding for an environmental corporation with neighborhood Asian countries. To attain the above aims, our university is making continuous and full efforts to accomplish the goal in each graduate school program. View full university

We also offer various club activities, international exchanges, and support systems to help them achieve their goals. Clinical training includes dentistry and medicine, such as Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pain Clinic, Otorhinolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Psychosomatic Medicine, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, and Orthopedics. Today, in our super-aging society, dentists are required to know about medicine to meet society's needs. For better cooperation between dentists and medical doctors, we are fostering dentists with such knowledge. Fukuoka Dental College has a range of facilities that support students' learning experience on campus. Many of the facilities, such as grounds, gymnasium, school cafeteria, and the library through the interlibrary loan system, are also available to the community members. View full university

    Fukuoka University
