About Me

  1. Established in the Swiss mountains in 1994 by a non-profit foundation, The European Graduate School / EGS comprises two divisions: Arts, Health Society (AHS) and Philosophy, Art Critical Thought (PACT). The OHS Division, founded by Paolo Knill, centers on the expressive arts, specifically addressing coaching, therapy, education, conflict transformation, and peacebuilding. Founded by Wolfgang Schirmacher, the PACT Division (formerly Media Communication) addresses, as its title suggests, philosophy, art, and critical thought, and within those fields, architecture, film, literature, digital design, music, psychoanalysis, and political thought. Together, the two divisions compose a unique and diverse community of artists, theorists, scholars, and practitioners, making the EGS one of Europe's most critical sites for ethical, socio-political, philosophical, psychological, and artistic inquiry. Its cross-disciplinary, low-residency MA and Ph.D. programs offer students and scholars an exceptional academic experience centered on annual intensive seminar programs led by an eminent faculty in residence in Saas-Fee, Switzerland↗, and Valletta, Malta↗. This dynamic structure creates a vibrant forum in which students and scholars engage with distinguished theorists, practitioners, and artists in their fields. The EGS was created to be a university that would function beyond the traditional disciplinary structure's many constraints while stimulating work leading to respected and well-recognized academic degrees. For the EGS, education remains a process that is both experimental and transformative, and learning is never divorced from critique. Faculty are given maximal freedom from cumbersome bureaucratic duties and encouraged to focus on teaching that is not just research-led but also an active form of research. The EGS does not shy from the requirements of professionalism, but it seeks to redefine the conditions for achieving this term's true meaning. The EGS seeks to intervene in a global context where education is increasingly structured by instrumental ends that favor technical expertise and frustrate fundamental questioning. It seeks to keep alive a spirit of free inquiry devoted to supporting creating practice and intellectual exchange of the highest level directed to the most pressing issues of our time. Known as the "Pearl of the Alps," Saas-Fee is located near the Matterhorn of Wallis (Valais). Surrounded by thirteen mountains, it is the main village in the Saastal or the Saas Valley and a municipality in Visp's district within the canton of Wallis (Valais) in Switzerland. Its location close to the glaciers of the Dom and the Allalinhorn, along with its neighboring mountain peaks, such as the Weissmies, the Nadelhorn, and the Lenzspitze, have made Saas-Fee an attractive destination in the Swiss Alps with recreational opportunities throughout the year, including skiing, carving, snowshoe trekking, mountain climbing, canyon climbing, and ice climbing. German playwright Carl Zuckmayer (Der fröhliche Weinberg, Der Hauptmann von Köpenick, Des Teufels General) lived in Saas-Fee 1958 until he died in 1977. It has also been the home to The European Graduate School / EGS since its inception in 1994, inspiring its students and faculty who convene throughout the summer at the Steinmatte classrooms up the hill from the small village. The Hotel Allalin, located in the sunny "Lomatte," is the principal reception place for The European Graduate School / EGS. The hotel has been in the Zurbriggen family for three generations and is currently owned and operated by Sabrina and Eva Zurbriggen. The hotel and family are known for their services and the warm and inviting atmosphere they create. In partnership with the EGS, the Hotel Allalin provides students with exceptional rates of approximately CHF 128.00 per day either in hotel rooms or nearby apartments, including lodging, three meals per day, and internet access. The hotel also offers reduced rates for family members or friends visiting students or faculty during the summer seminar programs. All lodgings are located in or near (no more than 600 meters) the Hotel Allalin. Both single and double rooms are available in the hotel and the apartments. Although apartment floor plans vary, all of the rooms meet high-quality standards. Please note: typically, the apartments are not equipped with telephones, hairdryers, alarm clocks, voltage adapters, or minibars/refrigerators. The hotel may provide some of these amenities upon request, but they are limited, so please be sure to pack your adapters. Some apartments are equipped with kitchens or kitchenettes. If this is the desired option for your stay, please make your requests well in advance. All meals for both faculty and students are served at the Hotel Allalin. The hotel provides three meals a day and can accommodate vegetarians and vegans. Additionally, the hotel provides a limited number of gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the hotel cannot accommodate individual food allergies. If you have a food allergy, please address your situation directly with the hotel. You may request a kitchen/kitchenettes or inquire if a particular food plan is available that meets your dietary needs. Accidents and illnesses requiring medical attention can be costly. We encourage all EGS students to make the appropriate arrangements for health insurance coverage from their home countries well in advance of their departure. It has recommended that you speak to your healthcare provider between four and six weeks before your time of travel so that your immunization history, personal health, and planned activities can all be considered to determine what is needed for your trip. Be sure to indicate all travel destinations to your healthcare provider so that they can inform you of the necessary vaccinations and health advisories in effect. If your home health insurance policy does not cover you abroad, there are many short-term and long-term travel insurance policies available from numerous providers. Please keep in mind that access to, and the legality of, medicine and prescription medicine varies from country to country. Therefore, make sure that you have an adequate amount of your prescription medicine(s) to last the duration of your trip. It is recommended to keep them in their original packaging and bring them in your carry-on baggage. If they include liquids, consult the security guidelines of your airline. View full university

  3. The USPEE becomes a higher education institution, which has financial independence and freedom in promoting its policy, which seeks to revitalize the elitist training process in the Republic of Moldova and integrate domestic higher education into the European Higher Education space. USPS offers its students the opportunity to combine different forms of academic, formative, and research activities. The activities are invited to participate in professors from the country and abroad. The USPEE administration organizes conferences and lectures of well-known professors from Central and South-Eastern Europe, Western Europe, CIS, and the USA. This direction of international collaborations, practices, and novel research techniques represents a priority aspect of USPS's educational programs. Being a relatively mobile educational institution, USPEE is continually looking for ways to train graduates to work and increase social mobility. At present, the study process is carried out within five faculties: the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Protection, the Faculty of Economic Sciences, the Faculty of International Relations and Socio-Human Sciences, and the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, which capitalize democratic and modern principles linked to national, European and international legislative documents. In this context, our university's purpose is to respond to specialists' primordial needs with a high, academic, and competitive moral weight. During the 20 years of activity, USPEE "Constantin Stere" demonstrated steadiness, professionalism, and quality. Since its first steps, the institute has promoted a performance education policy geared to the standards and values of the modern democratic society, thus attempting to contribute to the formation of a new generation of professional researchers, opinion leaders, and public officials, able to take responsibility for the transition to the democratic form of organization in our country. The present book aims to present succinctly and arguably, the academic and research excellence of USPEE "C. Stere. " The 20th anniversary of our university is, at the same time, a reflection, evaluation, and projection. Although we are a relatively young institution, at the full age, we have already succeeded in fully justifying our existence through academic stateliness, educational and institutional security. We encourage free-thinking, active civic engagement, creativity, enthusiasm, and openness to communication and collaboration. At the end of the studies, our students have the intellectual gifts and the spiritual strength necessary for personal fulfillment and the community's progress. The USPEE leadership "C. Stere" wants to build up, consolidate the depth, and ensure the health of higher education roots within the USPS. We believe that only in this way can we develop together a sustainable, thriving university. Therefore, USPEE "C. Stere "promotes the educational policy and the development of a democratic, humanistic, flexible, and transparent university education based on the values of culture and national and universal science. The mission of the University of Political and Economic Studies "Constantin Stere": Training of highly qualified professionals for the national economy can work effectively in changing conditions of life and market economy. Organization and development of basic and applied scientific research aimed at solving current socio-economic problems and implementing the university research results' technology transfer. Promoting the principles of freedom, understanding, justice, and human dignity through its teaching and research. View full university
  4. EHU provides students from Belarus and the region with an education in the European liberal arts tradition in a free and democratic environment — an opportunity, unfortunately, not available in Belarus today. Education at EHU does more than immerse students in a range of subjects and disciplines. It promotes a transdisciplinary approach, critical thinking skills, and civic engagement that empowers them to develop innovative solutions, ideas, and enterprises. Since its founding in Minsk in 1992, the European Humanities University has remained committed to produce and disseminate socially responsible and critical knowledge in the social sciences and the humanities, ensure quality education through the integration of study programs with research, creative, and applied projects. EHU uses its potential to develop a European intellectual space without borders, the return of knowledge to Belarus, the establishment of innovative social partnerships, the development of civic education, and the broadening of human rights and potential through the freedom of speech, thought, and research. EHU is a haven of academic freedom — the only Belarusian University that operates in a free and democratic environment. EHU is an integral part of the European and world academic community. The University recognizes European values and, in its activities, is guided by the Great Charter of Universities' provisions, the European Higher Education Community, and other forms of the international scientific and academic community. EHU offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs in both low and high residence modes and non-degree courses in the humanities and social sciences. Since 2011, EHU students, faculty, and staff have been qualified to participate in series of exchange programs designed to promote European cooperation in higher education, student and staff mobility, and cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises. The high competitiveness of EHU study programs significantly increases students' chances to find employment in various fields of activity both in Belarus and abroad. All EHU graduates receive diplomas recognized throughout Europe and North America. EHU has around 3,000 alumni who attended the University either in Minsk or in Vilnius. 2124 already graduated from EHU in Vilnius. According to our surveys, most of them reside in Belarus, but others are spread around the world. The Distinguished Alumni Award is annually presented for the outstanding achievements of our alumni. EHU alumni are in demand on the labor market of Belarus. According to the latest Alumni survey results, about half of EHU graduates earn more than the average monthly salary in Minsk. Many graduates seek additional educational and professional opportunities in more than 30 countries. The "Honorary Doctorate of the European Humanities University" degree is conferred upon the most prominent scholars, statesmen, public, religious, and political figures of the Republic of Belarus and other countries to honor their outstanding accomplishments in humanities and social sciences, university education, and culture their distinguished contributions to the development of democracy and the realization of the principles of the rule of law and their outstanding contribution to the development of culture and effective promotion of intercultural dialog. Foreign language is a challenge that has always has been a critical problem for humanities. It is necessary for students to exercise their professional life in a multilingual world and is also essential to accessing cultural meaning through the spoken and written word – the doorways to interdisciplinary and international understanding and knowledge. The basis of foreign language courses in EHU should be a strategy "to write, to read, to speak," and vice versa, "to speak, to read, to write," which will provide access to humanities texts in foreign languages, where the primary role today belongs to the English language. Regardless of the level of language proficiency at the time of enrollment, EHU students have the opportunity to improve their English language skills by two levels up within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Besides, EHU students can practice their English during regular international meetings, educational events with the participation of foreign specialists, and communicating with students of exchange programs. Starting from the third year of studies, part of the EHU courses are taught in English, allowing students to expand their usage of a foreign language in academic and professional contexts. Additionally, the English language for particular purposes is included in the curriculum. In these courses, the students get a more in-depth insight into the professional terminology. The knowledge of specific professional English terms makes EHU students more competitive in the international labor market. View full university
  5. Central European University is a graduate-level "crossroads" university where faculty and students from more than 100 countries come to engage in interdisciplinary education, pursue advanced scholarship, and address some of society's most vexing problems. It is accredited in both the United States and Hungary and offers English-language Master's and doctoral programs in the social sciences, the humanities, law, management, and public policy. Located in the heart of Central Europe -- Budapest, Hungary -- CEU has developed a distinct academic and intellectual focus, combining the comparative study of the region's historical, cultural, and social diversity with a global perspective on good governance, sustainable development, and social transformation. Founded in 1991 at a time when revolutionary changes were throwing off the rigid orthodoxies imposed on Central and Eastern Europe, CEU is based on the premise that the critical discussion of ideas can counterbalance human fallibility and that this critical spirit can be sustained best in societies where citizens have the freedom to scrutinize competing theories and openly evaluate and change government policies. With approximately 1,400 students and 370 faculty members from more than 130 countries, CEU is one of the world's most densely international universities. Its rare mix of nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures creates an ideal environment for examining such "open society" subjects as emerging democracies, transitional economies, media freedom, nationalism, human rights, and the rule of law. It also brings a multifaceted perspective to all aspects of community life. CEU is known for excellence in teaching and research—with purpose. At the core of its mission lies a set of principles: the pursuit of truth wherever it leads, respect for the diversity of cultures and peoples, and commitment to resolving differences through debate, not denial. CEU is a unique institution: Our 1,500 masters' and doctoral students come from 117 countries. Our faculty is drawn from 51. We are accredited in Hungary. The United States and our mission is to teach the values of an open society: free minds, free politics, and free institutions. We recently celebrated our first 25 years, and in that time, we have attained world-class rankings in teaching and research, we have graduated almost 14,000 alumni who carry our values back to their home countries, and we have opened brand new campus buildings in the historic heart of one of Europe's greatest cities. CEU's mission to defend free and open societies is more urgent than ever. As President, I have launched the Re-Thinking Open Society Project, a series of seminars, lectures, and conferences that will renew our mission in light of the new challenges it faces in the 21st century. We are also preparing a new strategic plan to guide the University through the next five years. That plan, when completed in June 2017, will commit the University to strengthen our masters' and doctoral teaching, to build on our success as a research institution and, most exciting of all, to work with the Open Society Foundation to develop a network of universities like ourselves devoted to furthering the open society mission. Our founder, George Soros, demonstrated uncommon vision in providing the resources that enable us to accomplish our mission. Now it is up to the CEU community: its dedicated staff, world-class teachers, and adventurous alumni to grow our resources, manage them prudently, and invest them in projects that further our mission. We want to enlarge our community of support to reach out to philanthropists, foundations, corporations, and other private donors who share our dedication to education for free minds and free spirits. We are proud of our path-breaking research in a range of disciplines, new initiatives in emerging fields like cognitive and network science, together with our longstanding commitments in Roma education and leadership training and our recent pioneering work in opening up higher education to Europe's new refugees and migrants. These are examples of the work that best serves our unique mission. In a world of polarization and division, a world where the status of facts is so profoundly contested, the work of universities like ours in bringing men and women together around shared respect for knowledge is more important than ever. We must remain dedicated to teaching our students that knowledge is the only sure guide to moral choice and public policy. Universities like ours cannot retreat from the world. We must always be doing our part to help understand our societies' problems if we are all to survive and prosper. We must never stop asking: what is incontestable in our understanding? How do we expand the content of knowledge? If we genuinely care about knowledge, if we winnow the grain of knowledge from the chaff of ideology, partisanship, rhetoric, and lies, we will be doing the University's part to defend free and open societies. Hungarian poet Attila Jozsef was right: all of this is hard. But nothing is more important. Central European University is a graduate institution of advanced research and teaching dedicated to socially and morally responsible intellectual inquiry. CEU's distinctive educational program builds on the great American universities' research tradition on the most valuable Central European intellectual traditions on the international diversity of its faculty and students on its commitment to social service and on its history of academic and policy achievements in transforming the closed communist inheritance. CEU is committed to promoting the values of open society and self-reflective critical thinking. It aims to excel in the mastery of established knowledge, the courage to pursue new knowledge in the humanities, the social sciences, law and management, and engagement in promoting applications for each, mainly through their policy implications. CEU is a new model for international education, a center for studying contemporary economic, social and political challenges, and a source of support for building open and democratic societies that respect human rights and human dignity. In 1989, a group of academic intellectuals—most of them prominent members of the anti-totalitarian democratic opposition—conceptualized an international university that would help facilitate the transition from dictatorship to democracy in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Among them was George Soros, the Hungarian-American financier, and philanthropist, who founded Central European University two years later. Soros championed the project because he understood that open societies could flourish only with people in positions of responsibility who are educated to promote them. His vision was to recruit professors and students worldwide to build a unique institution, one that would train future generations of scholars, professionals, politicians, and civil society leaders to contribute to building open and democratic societies that respect human rights and adhere to the rule of law. Beginning with 100-plus students in 1991, CEU held its first classes in Prague with students from 20 countries, primarily within the region. The University moved to Budapest in 1993. 6. EEBA is an international, multi-lingual school offering the European Schools' curriculum. It offers a world-class education together with the opportunity to stay connected to home languages and cultures. It provides access to schools and universities in home countries and across the world. We are committed to creating a happy, dynamic school where children are inspired, and parents' participation helps create a robust and happy community, high standards of behavior, and healthy, carefully supported academic and social development. Our driving vision is to provide a multi-lingual educational context where children develop a passion for life and learning, and our pupils strive to be the best they can be. Children join a language section: English, French, etc., where native speakers teach the first and second language curricula. Specialist teaching is given to children for whom the section's language is not their mother tongue and for children experiencing specific learning difficulties. Pupils learn to be fluent and literate in several languages – their first language (L1) + one other modern European language (L2: either English, French or German). A third European language (L3) is introduced at the start of secondary school with an optional fourth in S4. This prepares them for a future in which language skills and a global perspective enable deep cultural understanding and worldwide mobility in later life. Each child has a unique story to tell in their voice and riches to receive from others. We aim to create an atmosphere of well-being and enjoyment in learning, where each child fully benefits from all that is offered at one of the most beautiful green campuses in Europe. A strong curriculum taught through several modern European languages emphasizes both scientific discovery and cultural understanding. The unique multi-lingual and multi-cultural ethos particular to the European Schools, enhanced by all that is best in the Nordic educational context found at the stunningly beautiful natural estate of the Castle of Argenteuil. The development from the outset of conceptual skills built by a multi-lingual approach benefits learning in all areas. We focus on developing the whole child and nurturing their natural aptitudes to ensure that each pupil leaves ready to meet whatever challenges await. The question we ask is not "how intelligent is your child?", instead "in what ways is your child intelligent?". Our message to them is simple: try to be the best you can be in everything you do. Preparation for the highly regarded European Baccalaureate, which provides access to higher education across the world. Provision of the European Schools' curriculum through modern languages by fully qualified native speakers. Strong individual support and thoughtfully differentiated classroom learning. 7. An international University based upon a great tradition of human values, engaged in leading future generations and professionals. An excellent choice for both ethical and cultural education. The European University of Rome (EUR) is a private, legally recognized*. This university has been releasing, for ten years, academic qualifications with legal value: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, Single-cycle Degree Courses, I and II level Masters, Postgraduate School for Legal Professions, and Active Training Internships. Academic excellence, training activities targeted for the individual and abroad studying experiences, creative professionals, and future managers with high human values can positively impact society. Our motto "We train people, and we prepare professionals" carries out the whole meaning of the European University of Rome's training project: promoting the person's complete development, combining technical and human growth. Besides, the guiding idea of the training that the EUR offers his students is that the student is the real protagonist of university life. The teaching and administrative staff are always available to provide fast answers and avoid unnecessary waiting. The European University educational project allows 8 out of 10 students to find employment within three years from graduation, thanks to an intense activity of organizing internships before graduation and internships in companies and institutions to follow. Statute of the European University of Rome, approved by Ministerial Decree May 4, 2005, published in the Ordinary Supplement to the Official Gazette no. 110 of May 13, 2005 – General Series and issued with the Rector's Decree no. 14-ter of August 4, 2006. On January 12, 2007, the European University of Rome established the European University Foundation, a private non-profit law institution, to support and promote the European University of Rome. On November 5, 2008, the European University Foundation had recognized legal personality and was entered in the prefect's register. The European University Foundation aims to ensure the European University of Rome's autonomy, independence, and economic balance. It finances educational infrastructure, promotes educational and research activities, builds and operates educational and research areas, and promotes the right to education by establishing research grants. 8. In the present, evermore globalized era, there is, without any doubt, a need for homogenized curricula at a European level and a need for institutions that can offer students qualifications, knowledge, and skills that are recognized across national borders. Aiming to be continuously at the forefront of research and Education, the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) has created a higher education institution under the name of "European Law and Governance School" (ELGS), which constitutes the materialization of this need. The European Law and Governance School are founded upon the belief that the European Union plays a crucial role in ensuring global stability, promoting democracy, the overall progress of humanity, and that the European Union's core values must be upheld while it strives for better integration. The ELGS also believes that the critical source of hope and the only path to successful integration is through the proper Education and training of Europe's youth. Thus, the Vision of the ELGS is to create a generation of youth that will identify themselves as Europeans, serve Europe, and disseminate the idea, culture, and values of Europe throughout the world. Inspired by the values that lie at the heart of the European Union, such as fundamental rights, the free movement of professionals, goods, and services, and the creation of a single market system, as well as by the challenges and opportunities created by these policies, the ELGS has identified the need to create a new form of Education that is Pan-European. This Education must start at the undergraduate level to create and prepare the next generation of legal and governance scholars to work within the fast-evolving European and International institutional structures. The idea was initially conceived by Professor Giuliano Amato, Former Prime Minister of Italy, member of the Board of Directors of the EPLO. To that effect, in 2008, the "Group of Rome" was constituted around him and comprised of the most esteemed professors and practitioners. The Group met regularly to discuss the various strategic and operational aspects of the project. As the time passed, the project matured enough for the Board of Directors of the EPLO to decide in 2009 to create an EPLO agency called the "European Law and Governance School," thus providing it with all the necessary tools and empowerment needed to achieve its objective. The inaugural launching of the School took place with the first symbolic meeting of the Board of Trustees at the premises of the European Parliament in the spring of 2013. The further development of the School followed while 2015 marked the initiation of the Schools' programs. The European Law and Governance School (ELGS) is a modern international school with the aim and mission to offer Excellence in tertiary levels of Education in European Law and Governance. The School aims to shape socially responsible leaders of the future with inquisitive minds and free spirits. It aims to shape the European Citizens of tomorrow who belong to Europe and promote European values. The ELGS is committed to educating the next generation of Europe and the World's legal practitioners, public administrators, and world leaders by imparting them with the knowledge necessary to effectively work within the fast-evolving European and global institutional structures that transcend national frameworks and the skills to confront and address the new global opportunities and challenges. The ELGS provides interdisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate, and Executive Education courses, with fresh material and a unique design. View full university
  9. Founded in 1994 with the active support of the city of St. Petersburg, the European University began operating as an elite graduate school in the social sciences and humanities in 1996. From its inception, the mission of EUSP has been to meet the needs of Russian social development by training a new generation of teachers and scholars in the best Russian and Western traditions. The European University is one of only a few non-state universities fully qualified by the Ministry of Education to award advanced graduate degrees. Over some 20 years, EUSP has gained an international reputation for its faculty's superb scholarship and the training of Russia's best and brightest graduate students at the highest international levels. Like the best private universities outside Russia, the EUSP's independence is both intellectual and political. With a significant proportion of faculty with degrees from leading western institutions, and close relations with Stanford, Michigan, Cambridge University, Georgetown, Harvard, Helsinki University, and the University of California, Berkeley, of Michigan, Ann Arbor Cambridge University (UK) Helsinki University (Finland), and the European University Institute in Florence, EUSP has a strong commitment to the integration of Russian scholarship with scholarship in Europe and America. With Russia's historical distance from the West in intellectual and social terms, this has been a fundamentally important position, one that encourages mobility and encourages graduates to pursue their teaching and scholarly careers at home. For non-Russians, the International MA in Russian Studies is the only permanent program at the graduate level in Russia that offers degrees in sociology, political science, and cultural studies to students from North America, Europe, and Asia. The University is an essential agent of innovation and change in other ways as well. As the Russian government itself has recognized, its democratic governance system serves as a model for other Russian institutions striving for international recognition. EUSP was an initiator of private endowment funding that has become a standard in other universities and cultural institutions. Although entirely independent of state control, the University often hosts actual government figures and Russian and international scholars for seminars and lectures on social importance issues. EUSP faculty and staff are also regularly invited as expert consultants by the Russian Federation Public Chamber, the Ministry of Economic Development, and the Ministry of Education and Science. The University is also actively involved with the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Petersburg Dialogue Forum, and the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. Partly for this reason, partly because our graduates are among Russia's best, many not only hold positions in leading universities but occupy key posts in government and non-governmental organizations and leading Russian and international companies. More than forty percent of those who have finished our core educational program have successfully defended their dissertations. The University's mission is to satisfy societal needs in raising and expanding the professional qualification of specialists and developing their creative and scholarly potential based on Russian and international experience and cooperation. Due to its superlative professionalism and unique scholarly potential, EUSP has acquired a reputation as one of the country's most dynamic and modern educational institutions. EUSP has greater independence from the Russian governmental bureaucracy than most other Russian universities. This independence is essential for both intellectual and political reasons. Universities in Russia were traditionally under the government's control, to the extent of questions of the content of instruction and research, political ideology, and administration. In EUSP, a high proportion of faculty have degrees from prominent Western universities. The University employs Russians with PhDs from such recognized schools as the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Cambridge University (UK), Helsinki University (Finland), a.o. EUSP commits to the integration of Russian scholarship with scholarship in Europe and America. Against the background of Russian scholarship's continuing isolation from the West, this is a fundamentally important position. EUSP encourages mobility but combats the brain drain. Rather than promoting graduate students' departure to the West, EUSP invites Western students to come and study in Russia. The International MA in Russian Studies is the ONLY permanent program at the graduate level in Russia that offers degrees in sociology, political science, and cultural studies to students from North America, Europe, and Asia (about 50 students annually). Both international and Russian students enjoy the advantages of studying in a truly international setting. USP is a decisive agent of innovation and change, introducing and disseminating new standards and practices in the Russian educational system. EUSP's educational programs are popular amongst talented graduates of Russian universities, who currently hail from fifty-four Russian regions and amongst graduates of foreign universities (mainly in Western Europe and North America). For these students, EUSP offers special international programs taught entirely in English. EUSP's teaching faculty is staffed by well-known academics who have achieved significant results and recognition in their fields. Many of them received their PhDs from the best universities in Europe and the US and have experience teaching in foreign universities. View full university
  10. Only a few years have passed since its establishment, and European University Viadrina has already achieved a remarkable reputation. This can be seen in the continually increasing numbers of students and the expanding interest on the part of scholars with well-known names to teach and do research at this university. Students and instructors find here an excellent technical framework for their work and an environment that promotes intellectual exchange and, as such, is both influenced and characterized by international contacts. The opportunity to study together with classmates from Poland as well as other nations of Europe and the rest of the world is a unique attraction: many regards it as a significant enrichment of both their academic and personal lives, as it leads to the development of close contacts, frequently deepening into friendships across European borders that are, in turn, often maintained in later life following the years at university. This human potential represents a great treasure, one that we wish to cultivate and preserve. It represents a pledge of high value for a continuation of our peaceful and prosperous coexistence in Europe. Viadrina will make every effort to promote and to expand this international character in the future as well. It is an essential primary thought, in fact, a principle of constituent significance for this university. In our daily work here, these efforts are not limited to the intensive support of instruction in foreign languages alone - they are extended to include the entire range of learning opportunities offered by the three faculties. The Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences and the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration direct themselves to fulfill this demand using their varied courses and research projects. Also, the close partnership with the Polish Adam Mickiewicz University in the city of Poznan, which finds evident expression in the cooperation embodied by the Collegium Polonicum in Slubice, is a pillar in the architecture of our internationality. European University Viadrina will continue its development on this complimentary basis, having as its aim the further improvement of conditions for education and research and wish to promote a greater coherence of our united Europe. In the future, this university is to open up new perspectives to take us above and beyond traditional borders. The word river has a special meaning for Viadrina. Firstly, this is due to the river on the banks of which the university lies. Just like neighboring Poland, the river is in our immediate area. This, in turn, has helped developed a close German-Polish connection. Because of this, Viadrina is transforming itself into a German-Polish, European university. Since its reestablishment in the year 1991, Viadrina has strictly adhered to its concept of bringing young people together from every corner of the world. This concept has proven to be successful: Viadrina has grown to become a lively, highly regarded member in the community of German and European universities. For more than three hundred years, from 1506 to 1811, Frankfurt (Oder) was the home of the first public university of Brandenburg's principality. Key figures in the creation of this first university were Prince-Elector Joachim I and his councilor Eitelwolf vom Stein and the Bishop of Lebus Dietrich von Bülow. The Universitas Francofurtensis enjoyed great repute as an institution of learning for persons who later played an essential part in shaping and staffing the civil service of this principality and the Prussian state. Jurists served as diplomats in affairs of state, theologians of Viadrina were among those who held positions in the church's upper echelons in the region of Mark Brandenburg, and Frankfurt professors of medicine acted as personal physicians to the Elector Princes. The list of outstanding achievements attributed to the Universitas Francofurtensis is a long one at which more than 55,000 young people studied till 1811. Four schools - of Law, Theology, Medicine, and Philosophy - taught the subject matter of their respective faculties. Simultaneously, rhetoric, history, astronomy, mathematics, and music, together with related fields, also flourished, gaining high recognition in their areas of study. This first Viadrina made significant contributions to science and scholarship progress in a total of 25 disciplines. A close look at the direction and focus of the old Viadrina on the Oder reveals that, due to its geographical location, the university became a meeting ground of East and West for scholars and students from both sides of the Oder. At any given time, large numbers of students from Lithuania, Poland as well as other central and eastern European countries were enrolled at the university in Frankfurt (Oder), which, for many aspiring young scholars from these countries in the east, often became a first academic base for their exploration of European scholarship. Twenty-five leading global companies and institutions founded ESMT Berlin. The international business school offers a full-time MBA, an executive MBA, a master's in management, and open enrollment and customized executive education programs. ESMT focuses on three main topics. Leadership and social responsibility: deals with how socially responsible leaders should be trained and supported. European competitiveness: both the classical problems of market failure and regulatory and policy failures are examined. Management of technology: focuses on how the development and market introduction of new technologies can be successfully designed from an individual, corporate, industrial, and societal perspective. Additionally, the business school provides an interdisciplinary platform for discourse between politics, business, and academia. The business school is based in Berlin, Germany, with Schloss Gracht as an additional location near Cologne. ESMT is a private business school with the right to grant PhDs, accredited by the German state, AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS, and FIBAA. As a state-accredited business school, ESMT Berlin has two spheres of governance. The corporate governance of the business school regulates all strategic and operative issues of the School. Its managing directors (president and CFO), being legally responsible for the School, are controlled by the supervisory board and advised by the executive management committee (EMC). The EMC is made up of the managing directors and the deans of the School. The School's academic governance deals with all matters relating to faculty policy, research, and education. There are two central bodies: the academic board and the academic committee. The academic board is an independent advisory body for academic matters. The academic committee supervises and advises the president on fundamental academic issues regarding research, academic instruction, and further development. The president is in charge of the School and represents it in both spheres of its governance. Twenty-five corporations and institutions established the endowed ESMT Foundation, which consequently founded ESMT GmbH, the supporting organization of the School (so-called in German "Trägerin"). The ESMT foundation's executive committee legally represents and leads the foundation and is controlled by the board of trustees. The international advisory council advises both. The School's majority shareholder is the ESMT Foundation, and the minority shareholder is the Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der ESMT e. V. ESMT Berlin develops entrepreneurial leaders who think globally, act responsibly, and respect the individual. With a heritage rooted in European values and technology's potential, ESMT develops and imparts new knowledge to foster sustainable economic growth. At ESMT Berlin, we recruit, develop, and promote a diverse, world-class faculty. Our productive environment supports the academic faculty in focusing on rigorous and original research aimed at top academic publications. Our managerial faculty further enriches the School with substantial business experience combined with academic credentials. Industry backing provides opportunities to generate ideas with a substantial practical impact that also feed insights into creative teaching approaches. A faculty member is a scholar with a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree from a reputable university or business school in a business domain. A faculty member must demonstrate an exceptional record in research and teaching or, for those who just completed their doctoral education, a high potential. Evaluation of one's research involves primarily scholarly publications in top journals and external references by top international scholars in the relevant area. A member of the managerial faculty has an academic background, which is usually indicated by a doctoral or master's degree in a domain relevant to business education, often combined with a professional post-degree or post-experience qualification. Typically they have significant industry experience, evidence of advanced training, and reflective thought in the respective field. Research of a managerial faculty member usually focuses on policy and managerial insights, and its applied perspective complements academic faculty members' scholarly expertise. ESMT's campus in Berlin, Europe's most vibrant capital city, makes student life dynamic, upbeat, and rewarding. The ESMT MBA is not just about learning in the classroom. 15. Our students today are the professionals of the future. At Universidad Europea, we are aware of the needs of the current environment. We prepare these young people to lead to change in a hyperconnected society under constant change. Change that is only possible in an international, interdisciplinary environment such as at our campus allows students to immerse themselves in the professional world that awaits them from day one. At Universidad Europea, we offer an education that is open to the world, innovative, international, and multicultural. In short, a dynamic education with a spirit of constant improvement is also present on our campus and among our faculty. As Rector of the Universidad Europea, heading up this project allows me to be at the cutting edge of academic quality and take on the challenge that involves understanding, from a comprehensive perspective, how this great institution works in order to educate the best. I take on this challenge with the satisfaction of representing a unique academic community, with a faculty of renowned prestige, whose most significant value is excellence. We have a unique, innovative educational model focused on making the most of student potential, commitment, and exactitude, and measuring and continuously improving educational excellence. An educational model that goes beyond the traditional approach to foster the development of competencies and skills. An education dedicated to personal and professional capacities such as leadership, entrepreneurship, teamwork, creativity, or ethical commitment enriches and completes our students' profile. An example of going one step further than a theoretical education is the fact that our students have access to clinics and hospitals, a HUB at the Alcobendas campus designed to reinforce and promote entrepreneurship, and a Simulated Hospital, a clear example of an innovative and interdisciplinary environment that is so important to help our students train for their future. Universidad Europea is also firmly committed to collaborative research to guarantee that our faculty is updated continuously. Results in recent years endorse our efforts in this field. Our commitment to excellence is also represented by our schools, which are recognized and accredited worldwide. As an example of this daily work, I want to highlight some of the recognitions and awards that mean we are at the forefront: in 2015, the prestigious international QS Stars rating, which classifies the quality of institutions, recognized the excellence of our faculty, our international perspective and the employability of our students, with a rating on par with Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard and our School of Architecture, Engineering and Design obtained NAAB accreditation, the first Private School of Architecture in Spain and in the European Union to do so. Our Physical Activity, Sport, and Physical Therapy department have also achieved international accreditations such as WCPT and EHFA. In Social Sciences, our Bachelor's degree programs can be completed at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science. Our faculty also has ACBSP accreditation for our Business degree programs. We are the only Spanish member institution of an international network of universities: Laureate International Universities, which has higher education institutions over the five continents and over one million students. Being part of a great, global family affords our student's countless opportunities for periods of study abroad, exchanges, and internships abroad. As for Universidad Europea, almost one-third of our students come from abroad, and we are the second largest destination university in Madrid. As a Laureate International Universities Network member, we are also connected to over one million students at 70 universities across the world. Our international outlook makes us stand out from the rest. We offer an education that is open to the world. And the best example of this international trend is the Erasmus+ program, which has increased the number of foreign Bachelor's degree students in the Spanish University System tenfold. According to a recent study by the CyD Foundation marking the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus+ program, Madrid is one of Spain's regions that attracts the most international students. One key that makes Madrid unique is the innate hospitality it offers international students choosing the city as the destination for their studies. Most want to come back after their academic experience and are our best ambassadors when returning to their countries. There are many reasons to justify that Madrid is one of the best destinations for studying in Spain and Europe. View full university

  18. Since 1965 the European School Varese has been bringing to success thousands of students who passed their European Baccalaureate! The European Schools are official educational establishments controlled jointly by the governments of the Member States of the European Union. In all these countries they are legally regarded as public institutions. They were created in 1953 to facilitate the mobility of European civil servants and their families across European Institutions. At the European School of Varese, there are five language sections: German, English, French, Dutch and Italian. There is the possibility of mother tongue tuition for those pupils who have a mother tongue that is not taught in the five existing language sections, on the condition that it is an official language of the European Union. All teachers are native speakers and are inspected by national Inspectors regularly. Our aim and mission are: To give pupils confidence in their own cultural identity – the bedrock for their development as European citizens. To provide a broad education of high quality, from nursery level to university entrance. To develop high standards in the mother tongue and foreign languages. To develop mathematical and scientific skills throughout the whole period of schooling. To encourage a European and global perspective overall and particularly in the study of the human sciences. To encourage creativity in music and the plastic arts and an appreciation of all that is best in a common European artistic heritage. To develop physical skills and instill in pupils an appreciation of the need for healthy living through participation in sporting and recreational activities. To offer pupils professional guidance on their choice of subjects and career/university decisions in the later years of secondary school. To foster tolerance, co-operation, communication, and concern for others throughout the school community and beyond. To cultivate pupils’ personal, social and academic development and to prepare them for the next stage of education. For pupils who join the school during the school year, lessons of learning support are organized to help students catch up as quickly and as efficiently as possible. These lessons are available both in the Primary and in the Secondary. For pupils, who have a mother tongue that does not correspond with one of the five linguistic sections, there is the possibility of having additional help. Study skill courses are organized in the first and fourth year of Secondary School.

  20. Surabaya European School was founded in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya. The school grew with the students in its first class into a British International Curriculum with both Primary and Secondary Schools that became fully accredited with Cambridge International Examinations in 2011. SES is an independent, co-educational, non-profit international school for students aged 3 – 16 with our student's educational journey concluding with IGCSE examinations in Year 11. Our alumni have successfully transitioned to schools in Europe, the USA, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive international student body with over 15 nationalities represented. Our small size means that all teaching and management staff are familiar with each student’s ability and progress. This allows us to support and encouraged each student in a very personalized way. Our teachers are highly qualified, internationally experienced, and enjoy open lines of communication with parents. Surabaya European School is the only British curriculum-based international school in Surabaya to combine three prestigious programs for children between the ages of 3 to 16. We provide a Montessori education for students from ages 3-6, the Cambridge and the International Primary Curriculum for junior school students, and the Cambridge and British National Curriculum for secondary school students, which culminates in the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualification. Our consistent focus for students is on high academic standards, essential life skills, and a sense of responsibility to the community all within the framework of a ‘family like’ atmosphere. As an international school, we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a diverse and inclusive school community. We also ensure that each student receives the educational support they need while being challenged to extend themselves according to their potential. We are the only school in Surabaya that combines Montessori education for students from ages 3-6, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for junior school, and the Cambridge International Key Stage 3 and IGCSE education for secondary school students. The combination of inquiry-based learning and internationally recognized, rigorous academic standards offered by these programs provide an excellent framework for our students’ development. The school is an inclusive international community in which each student is valued in their own right. Students are encouraged to develop their talents, realize their potential, and strive to achieve their personal best in all they set out to do. The well-being of every student is at the heart of all we do and our small size and family atmosphere allow me and my colleagues to maintain a close watch on each child’s development. We also provide a range of sporting, cultural, academic, community service, and adventurous activities as part of our Co Curricula program. Our staff and overall community invest a significant amount of time and effort into this program, which we consider to be essential to our student's overall development. Our program includes the internationally recognized IAYP (International Award For Young People) and Model United Nations (MUN) activities that allow our children to interact with other cultures and the environment in varied domestic and international contexts.

Your students, who may be potential young chiropractors, can visit us and spend a day in our modern clinic shadowing our interns. It is an opportunity to get a real feel for the career, coupled with being in the clinic setting and having other integrated services. AECC University College is at the forefront of engaging with others. Our research is presented at conferences around the world, and we foster positive relationships with universities, funding bodies, governments, student associations, businesses, and communities both nationally and internationally. We may have a global outlook, but we're also firmly rooted in the local community and love to get involved. Every year we welcome approximately 50 trainee GP's to the AECC. Based on Wessex, the day provides a fantastic opportunity for the trainee doctors to see the state-of-the-art facilities the AECC has to offer and learn about the chiropractic profession. As well as meeting our AECC final year students and picking up some tips to take back to general practice, the visitors have talks from Director of Clinic, Neil Osborne on 'What chiropractors do?', and spinal surgeon Dr. Hilton on the 'Pitfalls in primary care.' The collaboration is a great success offering an insight into both chiropractic practices and how the profession can effectively complement and assist the work of general practice. We look forward to welcoming more trainee GP's to the AECC next year. Our final year interns lead the activities with the children always enjoying themselves, playing our 'Balanced Diet' drawing game, and our' Fun Facts about the Anatomy' game. We also regularly hold school events as part of our outreach program, allowing our students to volunteer to visit various schools and colleges across the UK - including the schools that they studied at to talk to students about chiropractic great CV building experience and a fantastic way to promote awareness for the chiropractic profession and spinal health. 24.
  25. The European University Institute (EUI) is a unique international center for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research in the Tuscan hills overlooking Florence. Since its establishment 40 years ago by the six founding members of the then European Communities, the EUI has earned a reputation as a leading international academic institution with a European focus. The four departments – Economics, History and Civilization, Law, and Political and Social Sciences – host scholars from more than 60 countries, studying for the Institution's doctorate or the one-year master in law. Furthermore, the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) focuses on inter-disciplinary, comparative, and policy research on the major issues affecting European societies. At the same time, the Max Weber Programme for Post-doctoral Studies prepares fellows for a career in academia. The School of Transnational Governance, established in 2017, aims to deliver teaching and high-level training on the concepts, methods, and techniques of transnational governance. The EUI's distinctly international environment offers unique academic training, enriches the intellectual experience, and provides exceptional academic opportunities across disciplines and borders. The departments and centers are housed in 13 historic buildings scattered about the hillside, which have undergone extensive renovation. Heads of states, leading politicians and professors are regular speakers at the EUI, as part of the Institute's long-established program of conferences, workshops, and summer schools. The EUI offers one of the most extensive doctoral and postdoctoral programs in the social sciences in Europe. Our doctoral researchers benefit from four years of grants from the EU Members States and other states. The Institute is a distinctly international institution, hosting a community of more than 1000 scholars from over 60 countries. The EUI is characterized by its thriving intellectual climate, rich in seminars, conferences, and events, hosting leading academics and policy-makers worldwide. The EUI has very high completion rates. Eighty percent of all students admitted to the Ph.D. program since 2000 and 83 percent of those admitted to the second year of study successfully defend their thesis at the EUI. The EUI offers excellent career prospects. Sixty-nine percent of our alumni are currently employed in academic positions, while 12 percent work in international organizations. Alumni from the ECO department frequently obtain positions in central banks. Thirty-one percent of all alumni from all cohorts are now employed in senior positions, such as full professor. The EUI library boasts around half a million volumes in the Institute's specialist areas, attracting external researchers interested in Europe. The campus also hosts the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU), which provides an unparalleled insight into the workings of the European Union. In October 2012, the new premises of the HAEU opened at Villa Salviati, cementing the EU's commitment to preserving Europe's history. Plans were put into motion with conferences in Florence and Rome in 1970 and 1971. It was decided that the Institute would be reserved for post-graduate studies and not directly a Community institution. The six-member states – Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands – signed a convention in 1972, which cemented their commitment to creating the EUI as a pillar for research and development. The following year Denmark, Ireland, and the United Kingdom joined the Community and became involved in founding the Institution. The EUI opened its doors to its first 70 researchers in 1976. Over nearly 40 years, the Institute has grown to incorporate academics from across the globe, spanning borders and staying true to its mission laid down in the 1970s: "foster the advancement of learning in fields which are of particular interest for the development of Europe." Reflecting the growth of the European Union, the Institute now has 22 member states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
