      1. The University of North Dakota has always been ahead of its time. Founded in 1883, six years before the state itself was established, UND gave North Dakota its name when the former Dakota territories separated into two distinct states. Today, UND is a busy 550-acre campus, the state's largest. We've emerged as an innovator in energy, medicine, aviation, and unmanned aircraft systems. Our mission is to provide transformative learning, discovery, and community engagement opportunities for developing tomorrow's leaders. The Office of the President works with the campus community to shape the University of North Dakota's strategic direction. The Office of the Provost works closely with deans, department heads, student services professionals, faculty, and staff to provide quality educational programs and instructional services to campus. In support of the One UND Strategic Plan and the Research Grand Challenges, the mission of the Division of Research & Economic Development is to serve the broad research community of the University of North Dakota. This community is instrumental in meeting the strategic aims of the University. The aim is to expand and strengthen the University's commitment to research, scholarship, and creative activity as a means of sustaining and extending the knowledge base, enriching the teaching and learning environment, and enhancing economic development in the community, region, state, nation, and across the world. UND's Division of Student Affairs & Diversity advocates for students and creates a positive environment for all students. It manages housing, dining, wellness, and cultural programs. The Division of Research & Economic Development supports UND's distinction of being a Carnegie Doctoral Research Institution with an international reputation for research and scholarship. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors are our foremost concern. You have a right to feel safe at the University of North Dakota. We work diligently to reduce the crime's risk and potential but recognize we cannot do it alone. Safety and security is a shared responsibility, and we need your help. The best protection against campus crime are: A strong law enforcement presence. An aware, informed, alert campus community. A commitment to reporting suspicious activities and using common sense when carrying out daily activities. We're fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and positioned with Stanford, Harvard, and MIT among the Top 25 Most Innovative Schools. Earning a degree from a nationally accredited university like UND speaks to the quality of your education. It can also mean that credits taken are transferable to other accredited institutions. Financial aid is a broad term representing any financial assistance you receive to help pay for your education. There are several types of financial aid. You'll need to repay some types, while others are gifts that don't require you to pay them back. The most common types of financial aid are scholarships, grants, loans, and employment. Settle into one of our residence halls or apartments. You'll be steps away from classes and right in the middle of a buzzing campus. Students are eating together in the dining hall. Who needs to cook when you're steps away from wood-fired pizza, just-like-mom's tater tot hot dish, and the world's best monster cookies? We frequently rank as one of the healthiest and fittest schools in the nation. MSN's Fitbie.com gave us an A+ for health. Please search our database of 260+ student clubs and organizations. If you cannot find what interests you – start your club. Working on campus adds a new dimension to college. You will build your resume, hone your time management skills, and find mentors. Opportunities abound for clinical hours, whether for nursing students or athletic trainers. Moreover, for added realistic training, occasionally, our nursing and AT majors have done simulation events where they practice an on-the-field athletic injury from assessment to “emergency department” in our state-of-the-art simulation labs, with local M.D.s providing oversight and recommendations. The great news is that you will find your professors and the Academic and Career Services Center are ready and willing to help you make the necessary connections to find the right experience for you. 5. DSU was founded in 1881 as a school for teacher education in the Dakota Territory. Today, we're one of the most technologically-advanced campuses in the Midwest. A public university, we are governed by the South Dakota System Board of Regents and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. We have more than 35 majors to choose from, plus a robust graduate program. On-campus and online, we work to keep class sizes small. The student-faculty ratio is just 17.4:1. Students who cannot make it to our main campus offer courses online through University Center - Sioux Falls.DSU provides learning that integrates technology and innovation to develop graduates ready to contribute to local, national, and global prosperity. Building upon its distinctive mission, DSU will become: The university of choice for those seeking a student-centered institution offers innovative programs grounded in teaching, research, technology, scholarship, and service excellence. An academic community that serves as an economic engine in local, national, and global markets. A campus recognized for its achievements in continuous quality improvement. Because of this, our students see tremendous success. Our reputation for producing qualified workers makes employers seek DSU graduates. It also keeps our overall job placement rate at 99% for the latest graduating class—with many majors seeing a 100%placement rate. Our students work with professional technology. Our newly renovated Science Center offers the latest chemistry, biology, and physics labs that prepare students for jobs at Hematech, NASA, Los Alamos, and other leading scientific organizations. However, it is not just science. All of our majors and programs are infused with the latest technologies inside and outside of the classroom. We are more than just a four-year university. We integrate the latest technologies into the curriculums for every degree and program to prepare our students for the future better. So whether you are interested in Cyber Operations or English, Education, or IS, you will be gaining a hands-on, experience-based education that will tell the world that you're ready to take it on. Plus, students at DSU are just happier. We know this because we asked that DSU students reported being significantly more satisfied than students at other four-year public universities in a recent survey. Most people aren't aware of the breadth of academic programs we offer or their excellence level. With more than 35 undergraduate majors and several graduate degrees, we are South Dakota's designated information technology university. What does that mean? We integrate technology into all of our academic programs. In each of our majors, we work to prepare you for the modern workplace and beyond. You not only learn how to use technology, but you gain knowledge on how to communicate ideas better, work with people from a variety of backgrounds, and learn more about the global environment we live in. We offer associate, bachelor's, and graduate degrees. We also offer certificates and minors that allow you to customize your plan of study even more. We immerse those creative minds in an environment that celebrates and rewards new thinking and new ideas. Dakota State University is proud to nurture that environment -- to be the catalyst -- for rewarding creation, invention, and opportunity for growth. The College of Arts & Sciences continues to provide leadership in demonstrating technology's application to the arts, humanities, science, math, music, and theatre. An innovative creation between faculty and students led to pairing vocal music with video games in a one-of-a-kind performance for the DSU Music Program. Art students created a site-specific sculptural installation bridging DSU's rich history and technology mission. Books were the chosen medium for the project as they represent the traditional method of transmitting information, i.e., the printed word. They refer to the education mission at DSU, speaking to the history of the institution. The students chose RGB as the project's theme, using only books from those colors. RGB stands for red, green, and blue, the primary colors of light, and the color model for electronic devices like tablets, scanners, and monitors. DSU undergraduate students have been commended on their research in the sciences with awards and recognition from NASA South Dakota Space Grant Consortium and the United States Environmental Protection Agency's National Center for Environmental Research. We think we do a pretty good job of offering a variety of activities here on campus. There is something for everyone, from Student Senate to Gaming Club, English Club, to a wide variety of intramural sports. In addition to all of the clubs and organizations, our residence life and FYRE programs offer tons of ways to get involved, make new friends, and truly stand out on our campus. View full university
      6. North Georgia College & State University offers a high-quality college experience in a beautiful mountain setting, about an hour north of Atlanta. With more than 6,000 students, North Georgia is large enough to provide a wide array of opportunities and activities, but small enough to ensure personal attention from professors and to foster friendships among students. Located in Dahlonega, Ga., a small historic town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Georgia is a coeducational public university emphasizing strong liberal arts and pre-professional, professional, and graduate programs. The university offers more than 50 majors to prepare students for nearly any career. The state’s second-oldest university and the first to admit women, North Georgia, offer exceptional educational value, but it also offers values education. North Georgia’s faculty and staff are dedicated to the education and traditional values that help students excel in whatever career they choose. North Georgia is distinctive among its peer institutions in that it is one of only six senior military colleges in the United States. The Army ROTC Corps of Cadets comprises about 13 percent of the student population in North Georgia. Because of this distinction, North Georgia has been designated by the state legislature as The Military College of Georgia. Specializing in leadership training and developing civilian and military leaders since 1873, the state’s Board of Regents has designated North Georgia as a Georgia Leadership Institution. The land-grant heritage of South Dakota State University, which began with a college founded in 1881, originates from local and national legislation dating back to 1862. The Morrill Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Abraham Lincoln in July of that year, embodied a revolutionary idea in higher education. The legislation created a new type of educational institution to instruct in both liberal and practical arts to people in all parts of the country who needed to work for a living. In 1889, when South Dakota achieved statehood, Congress, acting under the Morrill Act of 1862, granted 160,000 acres of land for the use and support of the "agricul" real college." By acc "posting this land allocation, the State had to designate the Agricultural College as a land-grant college. In 1965 Ph.D. programs were established in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics (later discontinued), Animal Science, and Plant Pathology (later discontinued). A decade later, in 1974, the College of General Registration was established to assist students undecided about majors, pre-professional students, or students who wanted a one or two-year general studies program. In 1975 the Department of Education was reorganized and renamed the Division of Education. In 1989 the Division of Education was granted college status. The College of Home Economics was renamed the College of Family and Consumer Affairs. We are the State's State's university—and if you ask us, the best. With South Dakota' Dakota 'comprehensive range of academic offerings, there is a place to explore everything from aerospace to zoology. No matter which of our 175 fields of study our students pursue, they get a personal, practical education on our vibrant campus. Hands-on research projects with nationally respected professors, internships that bring coursework to life, and choices from over 200 student organizations ensure that there is something for everyone. As a land-grant university, we always have 'veserved South Dakota. Today we build on that tradition by developing respreservedglobal leaders. So it's no it 'rise that our studentsstudents'ts after commencement are that is of their friends from other universities—95 percent of our students go onto jobs, graduate school, or other opportunities such as internships and fellowships. This is a great way to dive into your areas of interest while gaining valuable, resume-building experience. Our students have interned in state government, with sports agencies, telecommunications companies, manufacturers, retail companies, major healthcare organizations, law enforcement – the list goes on. For education majors, your student teaching experience is supplemented by the fact that we have an elementary school right on campus – you will find yourself in an elementary classroom as early as your first year. You may also find that independent research is a great way to set yourself apart. Through our Hughes Grant-in-Aid program, math and science majors may apply for funding to pursue an educational experience not available on campus. Students have traveled to other colleges in the U.S., and abroad they have done research worldwide and here in South Dakota, and they have experienced career-sparking volunteer opportunities. You will graduate from DWU confident in knowing who you are and what you have to contribute to the world. 18. DSU was founded in 1881 as a school for teacher education in the Dakota Territory. Today, we're one of the most technologically-advanced campuses in the Midwest. A public university, we are governed by the South Dakota System Board of Regents and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. We specialize in computer management, computer information systems, and other related undergraduate and graduate programs. We stay true to our roots by placing a particular emphasis on teachers' preparation with expertise in computer technology in the teaching and learning process.
