With approximately 2200 births a year, St Vincent’s Private Hospital’s maternity unit includes a 9 bed birth suite, 42 bed Antenatal/Postnatal ward and a Special Care Nursery that caters for neonates from 32 weeks which can also provide high flow oxygen therapy and Nasal CPAP. Our 12 month midwifery program gives you the opportunity to explore Birth Suite, Antenatal/Postnatal ward and Special Care Nursery. For graduates completing a dual degree, there is the option of either a 3 month rotation to a medical/surgical ward or Special Care Nursery. For Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery applicants, there is also the option of a 6 month accelerated program which provides you with experience in Birth Suite and the Antenatal/Postnatal ward. SAS is a 6 bay area, where those presenting to ED with mental health issues and complaints can receive support from specialized nurses.
