  2. Taipei Adventist American School is accredited by the North American branch of the Seventh-day Adventist education network. Founded in 1872, this network is the largest Protestant private education system in the world with over 7,790 universities, colleges, high schools, and elementary schools serving the needs of more than 1.8 million students. In the United States alone there are over 1,100 schools in all 50 states. The mission of TAAS is to provide American education to Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports. Its curriculum, teachers, and educational environment are equivalent to an American-based school. This level of quality and professionalism allows its students to enter American schools and universities on the same terms as domestic students. The mission of Taipei Adventist American School is to provide an academically challenging, Seventh-day Adventist, value-based, American education to K-8 Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports in the greater Taipei area. TAAS is committed to a nurturing environment that will provide opportunities for spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth. The vision of TAAS is to be the best-known school in Taipei for providing the most holistic instruction possible by following God’s blueprint for education. Here at TAAS, we understand the importance of training the whole child including the mental, physical, social and spiritual, or moral values. We use a top curriculum with small classes that have proven to be successful for students that have passed through our education system. We also provide opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom through educational field trips, overnight trips like outdoor school, and even mission trips to other countries. Studies have shown that students who go through our system consistently score at least one grade level higher than the national average for the United States. The longer a child stays in our system, the better the chance they will have to be at the top of their class. We also believe that no matter a child’s academic level, religion, or nationality they can be a part of our school family. We strive to meet each student where they are at and help them grow in a diverse environment. This has proven to help students develop better social skills with those who are different. This in turn will help them be more successful at working with others when they are adults. Here at TAAS, our goal is to provide our children with the best possible education that will help them be successful in all areas of life, especially the spiritual and moral. Many parents have found the Christian setting to be ideal for their children as they experience the love and acceptance our teachers provide. View full school
  3. Taipei Kuei Shan School (TKSS), fully accredited by the Taipei City Government Department of Education in the Republic of China, was established in August 1963 as a small private K-9 school and intended to be an experiment in Taiwan Education. The founder, Professor Hsiong Hui-Ying, believed that the large class size of 50 students was the root cause of many educational issues such as learning difficulties and misbehaviors. Thus, Taipei Kuei Shan School was conceived as a research project to investigate this hypothesis based on the possible benefits that could be gained from significantly reduced class sizes. “The experiment design could be better. The test time could be longer. Although there are many shortcomings, with a strong desire and much effort, I’ve conducted a revolution-like attempt to the traditional teaching methods….” Taipei Kuei Shan School recognizes each child will grow into an individual made in the image of God. Our educational practices aim to foster self-worth as well as respect for others, are guided by proven effective methods, and are conducted in a student-oriented style. As a result of such nurturing, the unique gifts of each child can be developed into maturity. Taipei Kuei Shan School is a Christ-centered community where students have opportunities to know God, follow Him, and strive to live uprightly in a way He would approve. Our mission is to educate the whole person and develop life-long learners who are equipped to become knowledgeable and critical thinkers, effective communicators, responsible and engaged world citizens, virtuous servant-leaders, and enthusiastic stewards to serve one another, their community, Taiwan, and the world. Inspiring students to impact the world inspiring students to reach their greatest promise. Who are knowledgeable, critical thinkers, and independent learners? who are skilled questioners: able to define problems, determine what information to seek, and where to find it. who use technology appropriately to help solve problems. Beginning the fall semester of 2002, a Chinese-English bilingual program was launched starting with the 1st and 2nd grades. Keeping with the Kuei Shan tradition of experimental learning coupled with optimizing student learning, the new bilingual program aimed not only to provide an exceptional English literacy curriculum but to build upon the principles that had served Kuei Shan so well throughout its long history. 7. Follow the legacy of innovation and strive to become a world-class university. Taipei Medical University (TMU) is a collegiate academic institution with an extensive history in Taiwan. Established in 1960, TMU grew under challenging circumstances without a regular official budget from the government or funding from foundations over the past half-century. It underwent the processes of building the foundation, flourishing, expansion, and transformation via innovation. Today, TMU has expanded into a world-class university with ten colleges, 6,000 students per year, five hospitals (TMU Hospital, Wan Fang Medical Center, Shuang Ho Hospital, Taipei Cancer Center, TMU NingBo Medical Center), and more than 40,000 alumni around the world, serving the society and humankind and also cultivating the future talents for the nation. These are TMU's most substantial contributions, and also, it is the most critical responsibility and mission. In recent years, TMU has been honing its management while seeking breakthroughs and innovations. The University has experienced growth and progress in teaching, research, service, etc. It has garnered unanimous recognition at home and abroad. In July 2017, Global Views Monthly Magazine released the ranking for Taiwan's Best Universities, in which TMU was ranked ninth. In particular, TMU was ranked top 1 in both the faculty-student ratio section (1:9.9) and the average annual budget per student section. In February 2017, Cheers Magazine published the list of the Top 20 Universities of Excellence Performance. TMU was at 10th place in the overall national ranking. Moreover, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Ranking 2017, TMU was ranked 91st place for the first time. Last but not least, three months later, the QS World University Rankings released its 2018 list, and TMU was ranked 398th worldwide, being the highest-ranked private University in Taiwan. It is also ranked 10th among all Taiwan universities on the list. TMU has been vigorously promoting internationalization efforts with a total of 200 partner institutions around the world, conducting international research collaboration with US institutions such as Case Western Reserve University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Chicago, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Stanford University, Yale University and US National Institutes of Health to name a few. These collaborations are part of the efforts to advance TMU's research quality. Besides, TMU is approved by the Ministry of Education to jointly operate a "Nanomedical Engineering Graduate Institute for Masters and Ph. D. Programs" in collaboration with the University of Southern California's Vertibi School of Engineering. TMU has also signed 18 dual-degree program partnerships with Case Western Reserve University and the University of Southern California in the US, Universite du Droit et de la Sante Lille 2 in France, Hokkaido University in Japan, Ben-Gurion University in Israel, and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi ( KMUTT ) in Thailand and others, to provide TMU students with opportunities to further their education abroad. Also, TMU seeks to link the industry, government, and academics to create value and construct a comprehensive medical and nursing service system while crafting a sustainable biomedical platform and ecosystem and becoming a top-tier international university. It also seeks to strengthen the strategic partnership with domestic and international institutions, enhance its translational research and cultivate interdisciplinary leadership talents. In the future, TMU's core of education lies in tradition and innovation. The strong foundations that TMU has established in the internationalization of teaching and research, information management, translational research on cancer, and medical humanities will be passed down. Areas for innovation include interdisciplinary education, biotechnology entrepreneurship, neurology, and the caring industry. As for the field of medicine, TMU will soon establish a University-level Comprehensive Neurological Center and keep on upgrading Taipei Cancer Center to a world-class research facility, so that these two fields of research will become TMU's key features. Other crucial efforts include transforming TMU's hospitals into smart ones and establishing an integrated medical care system, thus making some contribution to the aging society of Taiwan.
  8. TPCU is located on the Guandu Plain at the foot of Datun Mountain. The school, picturesque as it appears, harbors a panoramic view of Taipei's magnificent scenery, including attractions such as Taipei 101, the Mount Guanyin, and the Tamsui River. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, TPCU has made itself a distinguished university to cultivate elites. It has also become the ideal university for students because of its academic excellence. TPCU contains three colleges: the College of Engineering, the College of Business and Management, and the College of Human Ecology. The school's academic programs include master's degree programs, four-year and two-year undergraduate programs, five-year and two-year junior college programs, and the programs of the Night Division for Continuing Education. The abiding teaching principle of TPCU is "one diploma, two languages, three awards, and four certificates." What makes our teaching principle unique is that TPCU graduates obtain specialized knowledge and certificates exclusively in addition to one diploma shared by graduates nationwide. First, TPCU graduates will receive a diploma from the Ministry of Education and have a good command of "two languages," Chinese and English. TPCU endeavors to enhance students' Chinese writing ability and English speaking and listening proficiency for their workplace competitiveness. Second, by "three national awards," TPCU aims to consolidate the value of innovation. The school encourages students' innovative experiments, their participation in national contests of inventions, and their application for official patents. Meanwhile, TPCU also emphasizes the cultivation of students' virtues and their respect for teachers. Students are asked to strive for the award of virtues hoping that they are endowed with professional expertise and moral excellence. Finally, by "four national certificates," TPCU stresses primary education and professional training reinforcement. Each department chooses students with a specific certificate to reinforce students' technical competence in industries each school year. To rise to new challenges of a new era, we will abide by the principle of "Education Based on Love" as well as the motto of TPCU, "Loyalty, Trust, Sincerity, and Respect." Besides, we also stick to the all-round teaching policy of maintaining the balance between techno-science and humanities, between pragmatism and theories. We will lead all the faculty and students for a more promising future as TPCU finds itself standing conspicuously on the Guandu Plain and makes itself a university of academic excellence in the world. There are 259 full-time teachers. They are 11 professors, 103 associate professors, 60 assistant professors (including 13 teachers recruited for specialized skills), and 85 instructors (including two teachers recruited for specialized skills). There are 105 teachers with a master's degree and 145 teachers with a doctor's degree. Most of the teachers have practical experience in the business. Our Vision is To be an outstanding polytechnic university of innovation, pragmatism, and invention. Our Objective is To elevate the teaching quality of pragmatism. To encourage vocation-oriented innovation. To create a campus of excellence and happiness. To be both localized and internationalized. Taipei City University of Science and Technology originally went by Kuang Wu Industry Junior College, established in 1971. The school was reconstituted as Kuang Wu Institute of Technology in 2000 and was later renamed as Technology and Science Institute of Northern Taiwan in 2006. In 2012, due to outstanding educational achievements, the school was upgraded to a university, Taipei City University of Science and Technology, abbreviated as TPCU hereafter.

  10. In 1979, the Executive Yuan, unveiling a plan to promote cultural and recreational activities, decided to set up a higher education institution dedicated to nurturing talents for fine arts, performing arts, and academic research. So the school had to be founded on the "highest standards". On October 22, 1980, a preparatory committee was formed by leading figures from the arts and educational sectors, and on July 1, 1982, the National Institute of the Arts was born. The school was founded with three departments: Music, Fine Arts and Theatre Arts. Classes were taught in rooms borrowed from the Taipei International Youth Center. In 1983, the school added the Department of Dance. In April 1985, classes were moved to facilities borrowed from the National Overseas Chinese Student University Preparatory School at Luchou, Taipei County. In September 1990, construction work on the Kuandu campus was completed. In late July 1991, the school was formally relocated to Kuandu. The school's entire staff and students took part in a ritualistic parade to the new campus, marking a brand new stage of the school's development. To provide a platform for integrating various academic achievements, the Center for Traditional Arts was established in 1982. In 1992, the Center for Art and Technology was set up to become a champion of cross-disciplinary integration between art and technology. In 1993, the school founded the Performance Arts Center, becoming the only higher education institute in Taiwan to own a professional concert hall, dance theatre, and experimental theatre. It was renamed the Performing Art Center in 1994. On August 1, 2001, the school was officially renamed Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) with five schools: Music, Fine Arts, Theatre Arts, Dance, and Culture Resources. Besides, to enhance its academic performance and expand its international presence, TNUA turned its research and development center into the Office of Research and Development and created the International Exchange Center on August 1, 2006. And to promote arts education in the community, the Center for Continuing Education and the Creative Resource Center for Traditional Arts were merged to form the Center for Arts Resources and Continuing Educational Outreach in 2008. In the same year, the Arts and Activity Complex was unveiled, with its movie theatre formally opened in October. To further shape TNUA into a comprehensive arts university, the School of Film and New Media was founded in 2009. In 2010, the Department of Filmmaking and the Department of New Media Art were introduced. Experimental Theatre, Movie Theatre, and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts -are rare among the world's universities. It is an ideal training ground for art talents through a pedagogy that places equal emphases on the academic and practical sides. TNUA, as the first arts university in Taiwan, has a group of highly accomplished artists who have a strong sense of commitment to educating young talents and a group of talented students who are passionate about culture and arts. As the most important institution for educating artists in Taiwan, TNUA embraces a principle that stresses both the traditional and modern and international and local. Our pedagogy emphasizes both the theoretical and the practical, with a mission to nurture generations of artists for Taiwan and elevate the country's overall artistic and cultural achievements. A quarter of a century may not be too long for an educational institution. However, with keen efforts by its entire staff and student bodies, TNUA has produced excellent achievements. Of all the tenured professors and alumni, 11 have won the National Awards for Arts, and two have received the Executive Yuan Culture Award. Their distinguished achievements have been widely recognized domestically and internationally. The TNUA produced opening ceremony for the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung was the fruit of careful planning and management that resulted in an excellent presentation of performances, music, and spectacles mixing the traditional and modern to highlight the local culture of Taiwan's competitiveness. It has allowed art to become one of Taiwan's major attractions on the world stage. Such achievements and successes attest to TNUA's energy and competitiveness accumulated over the years.
