Our curriculum is designed to prepare students both for further learning and for life. We have a firmly held set of universal values, including self-respect, respect for others, honesty, integrity, empathy, compassion, and a sense of international understanding. We are a close-knit community of students, educators, parents, and friends of the school committed to diversity. Three year age groupings are fundamental to the successful implementation of the Montessori Method. Other key components include a unique curriculum, low student to adult ratios, individualized assessment, an uninterrupted work cycle, and teachers trained both traditionally and with Montessori qualifications. Families are connected with the school community and involve themselves in various committees, working bees, and information sessions. The summary highlighted benefits such as essential word recognition, mathematics, and cooperative play, in the early years and more creativity and problem-solving ability by 12. More recently, a comparison of interventions that aid executive function development by Diamond SCIENCE 333 Aug 2011 states that at age 5, Montessori children showed better executive function than peers attending other schools. We are located on a beautiful campus in Dubbo's major regional city and draw from a wide area in the central west of New South Wales. In 2014 Dubbo Christian School assumed operation of Wellington Christian School, an excellent K-6 school located 30 minutes east of Dubbo in Wellington. Welcome to the Dubbo Christian School website. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions parents have to make, and we hope that the information on this site will enable you to make an informed decision about our school. If you are contemplating employment at DCS, I trust the information on our website allows you to understand our school. We offer to board at Pumula Lodge for high school students and a full curriculum and senior studies program. We are pleased to offer an excellent schooling experience to the HSC for those desiring Christian schooling who live locally and those in more rural and remote areas. Established in 1983, the school multiplied, particularly after moving to its current site in 1987, where we now enjoy modern facilities in a well-established and beautiful setting. The recent purchase of adjoining land will allow us to meet our strategic master planning goals for further expansion, and we are excited about what God is doing here at DCS. In 2014, we took over the operation of Wellington Christian School. In its fourth year of operation under DCS auspices, it is a wonderfully vibrant, growing school community offering Christ-centred schooling to Wellington and the district. We talk a lot about the culture at Dubbo Christian School. We are blessed with a positive, caring, and loving school culture that flows out of our commitment to Christ. We care about each student because we see them as unique and lovingly made in the image of God. Each has a plan and purpose, and we commit to partnering with parents to prepare them for their life after school in terms of academic preparation and whole of life preparation through service, faith, and character. Our firm commitment is to provide authentic Christian schooling, partnering with parents as they "bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4). These are schools where parents and teachers collaborate in preparing their children to serve God and their neighbors in the world according to the gifts God has given them. Devonport Christian School is a school where the values taught at home are reinforced by Christian staff, working within a Christian Curriculum. Our vision A leading, truly Christ-centred school community where students learn to love God, pursue excellence, and flourish to reach their full potential. Our Mission Devonport Christian School develops students through high quality, holistic primary education in a Christ-centred school community. The Curriculum is a realistic, broad, balanced program focusing on developing the whole child academically, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually. The program is engaging, developing life-long learning skills for students both in and out of the classroom. Our Parent Information Booklet contains a wide variety of general information for parents and students, including our Curriculum's details. The vision of a Christian School in Devonport began with establishing the Devonport Christian Parent-Controlled School Association in 1987. Several years of hard work ensued as the Board and Association members worked together to realize this vision. The school started in a two-room terrapin building on the Devonport Reformed Church's grounds in Nicholls Street. The school opened its doors in February 1992 with 27 students in two classrooms - Prep/1/2 and Grade 3/4/5/6. Mr. Kees van Niekerk was the first Principal, and along with teacher Miss Michelle Pinxt, worked hard to ensure that these first students received a full and enriching educational program. Steady growth soon resulted in this location is too small. The land was purchased in Jiloa Way, Don, and 1994 saw building works commence for an administration building. During the Christmas holiday break, the terrapin classroom at the Nicholls Street site was disassembled and moved to the new location where it was used as two classrooms. Building works at Jiloa Way were completed in time for students to commence in February 1995. The past twenty years have seen continual growth and development for Devonport Christian School. F block was constructed In 1999, and the decision was made to add a Kinder class. Steady growth in student numbers meant that new classrooms were needed and a two-classroom terrapin building was purchased and erected to help accommodate these additional students. This building was used as classrooms, IT labs, and libraries before being dismantled in 2011 to make room for permanent classrooms. Whether it is learning how to run a 400m race, learning how to spell '"rendezvous," or learning to factorize a polynomial, all-knowing has its ultimate meaning and purpose when framed by God's big picture story anchored in Jesus. All forms of education will have a particular perspective on life. It may not always be obvious or overtly stated, but it will shape how things are understood and spoken about, how things are done, and what is chosen to be taught. This might be in the form of assumptions about the nature and origins of the world, or it might be evident through suggestions about the purpose of life and, indeed, what it means to be fulfilled as a human. No form of education is neutral as it will always provide a particular lens through which students see the world and their place in it. View full school
  23. Deniliquin Christian School (DCS) is a Kindergarten to Year 10 School, and this position needs to be supportive of the Kindergarten - Year 10 context of the school. The school culture is one of close collaboration across the school. The vision of the school is: "To be a Christ-centred community where families and school work together nurturing, educating and equipping children for life through a Christian Worldview." The basis of our education is the Bible, God's Word, which teaches that: All things have been created by God so that He might be glorified in and through them. God is sovereign over all. God is to be honored and served in all areas of life. God has appointed parents to be responsible for the education of their children and to "bring them up in the nurture and instruction of the Lord" (Eph 6:4). To teach children to think with a Christ-like attitude. To assist children in making the best possible use of their God-given talents. To involve parents actively in their children's education by participation in day to day activities and the school's running. To maintain uniformity of training and teaching at home and school while preparing them to be Christ's disciples worldwide. The average class size in the Primary section is 12 students, and we commit to keeping the numbers low so that every student receives important one-to-one contact with their teachers. By keeping the classes small, we maintain a positive culture that flows throughout the school. We deliver the NSW Board of Studies curriculum looking through a Christian perspective lens and attached to real values. We extend the creative and performing arts, and students are encouraged to develop their skills and talents. Visiting music tutors also attend to give private tuition. A recently revitalized library seeks to develop and extend student reading. We extend student development in sport, with regular lessons at the Deniliquin Sports Stadium, which has a wide variety of sporting activities that students access. Outdoor education includes the garden project as well as investigating our natural resources at our doorstep. Parents receive two reports each year in addition to parent-teacher interviews. Parents are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their child's teacher. Each classroom has a set of computers, which allows a significant amount of access to complete tasks and research. Often students work in groups on individual or cooperative projects to access IT. Stage 1 has an additional bank of IPads that accesses the highly recommended APS designed to promote and extend learning. In mathematics, the Mathletics software program is widely used as it tracks students' progress and presents the next segment of activity to a level appropriate for the student to learn. This way, students at all levels of the learning continuum are catered for. View full school

The Australian Curriculum sets consistent high standards for what all young Australians should learn as they progress through schooling. It prepares Australia's next generation for the future and lays the building blocks for generations to come. The Australian Curriculum focuses on learning area content and achievement standards that describe what students will learn and how teachers will teach. It also gives attention to seven general capabilities that are important for life and work in the 21st century and three issues identified in the Melbourne Declaration as needing more attention than they have received in curricula to date. The general capabilities and the cross-curriculum priorities are not added as additional subjects. They are dealt with, where relevant, through the learning area content on which the Curriculum is built. In each Curriculum, the content descriptions specify what all young people should be taught. The achievement standards set out the depth of understanding and sophistication of students' skills at points in their schooling. The Australian Curriculum focuses on three cross-curriculum priorities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia, and sustainability. The seven general capabilities incorporated into the Australian Curriculum are literacy, numeracy, information and communication technology capability, critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, Ethical understanding, and intercultural understanding. At Deebing Heights State School, there is a particular emphasis on students mastering literacy and numeracy basics. View full school
  25. The Daylesford Dharma School offers an educational philosophy that draws from the methods and wisdom of Buddhist teachings... Buddhism has been called the science of the mind, as its practitioners highly regard reasoning quality. It teaches the development of wisdom and compassion as a pathway to develop human potential. At the Daylesford Dharma School, children develop their intelligence through critical thinking and awareness, informed by compassion and universal responsibility. Our educational philosophy recognizes the interdependent nature of all life. This inspires the ethical principle of non-harm that informs all aspects of our curricula. We pay particular attention to developing children’s capacity to grow as kind and wise individuals, empowered by the view of universal responsibility in how they shape their world and coexist with others. We invite our school community to support the ethical practice of non-harm and the development of wisdom and compassion. In turn, we will support our education community staff, students, families, and other members, with skills development on how to facilitate peaceful communications and conflict resolution, reflective practices, and emotional learning. We foster a spirit of sustainable co-existence, respect, and peaceful dialogue in all relationships. The Daylesford Dharma School curriculum offers daily integrated reflection periods to promote self-awareness and emotional development. Our pastoral curriculum utilizes logic and debate, the creative arts, meditation, and ethics in an integrated learning approach. Our programs support the pursuit of excellence in literacy, numeracy, social studies, science, and technology and conform to Australian Curriculum Standards. We strive to create a nurturing, inspiring, and creative learning environment where critical thinking, meditation, and creativity work in the union throughout the whole curriculum. Students, families, and staff of all and no faiths are welcome to join the Daylesford Dharma School community. We hold with the view that a multiplicity of spiritual traditions is necessary in the world. That plurality of religious and spiritual traditions caters to the wide variety of people’s dispositions and aspirations. We encourage opportunities to cultivate understanding and mutual respect through interfaith dialogues and events as foundations for an inclusive and harmonious society. According to Buddhist principles, a Board of Governors will continue to guide the philosophy and functioning of the Daylesford Dharma School, including wisdom, compassion, interdependence, and respect for all life.
