About Me

  1. Positive growth requires a solid foundation to build on. BHU, which has just celebrated its 98th anniversary, has such a foundation. Our core principles are stated: Biblical inerrancy, Integrity, Global Missions, Dedicated Servanthood, and Diversity. These principles guide us as clearly today as they ever did. We have now reached a pivotal point in our growth when we can claim a corps of graduates whose age and level of accomplishment can genuinely sustain our efforts. Now is the time for action. We need to invest in more scholarships that will continue to attract the best students, and we need to invest in faculty and teach excellence. These are signal changes for Beulah Heights University, and we must build on these strengths. Beulah Heights University is a private school but still offers strong academics. Students attending Beulah Heights University tend to be committed to Biblical academics, whether in the classroom or online. Beulah Heights University offers a plethora of courses online to accommodate all students. Dedicated to a Christian environment, students must sign a statement of faith, which includes agreement and respect for the Christian doctrine. Beulah Heights University hopes to provide academic and spiritual guidance to every student on campus through resource centers, academic workshops, and spiritual support. The purpose of the Admissions Office at Beulah Heights University is to assist potential students, both domestic and international, in the application process to ensure a smooth enrollment into BHU! The Admissions team also serves as the International Student Affairs Office and acts as a primary resource and advocate for international students in regulating immigration regulation. Beulah Heights University is an open-enrollment university and is always accepting applications year-round. The Admissions Committee must approve applications for admissions of the university. No application can be considered until all required documents have been submitted. Once a student has been approved for admission, that admission is valid for one year. If the student does not enroll within one year, a new application must be submitted, and a new application fee must be paid. Beulah Heights University offers degrees designed to provide training for leaders who are planning to serve in ministry and corporate/professional environments. Whether providing skills in Biblical education, leadership development, strategic planning, a non-profit organization, community economic development, or communicating across cultural lines, each degree's primary goals are to impart the skills and knowledge needed to be successful. The mission of BHU is to develop relevant Christian leaders for ministry and marketplace. As technological advances such as the Internet, email, and blogging become necessary for successful living, what better way to train relevant Christian leaders than online learning? Online learning allows students to pursue higher education without a traditional student's professional or geographical flexibility. The online program at Beulah Heights University offers you an opportunity to pursue your degree on your schedule. We currently offer the AA in Religious Studies, AA in Leadership Studies, the MA in Religious Studies, and the MA in Leadership Studies. The BA degrees in Religious Studies and Leadership Studies will be available by the Fall of 2017. Throughout its history, Siena Heights has built a proud tradition of an innovative response to challenging social needs. 3. Our Mission To create a warm and nurturing environment where children and grown-ups support each other to learn and discover, use play, investigation, interaction, and thoughtfulness to explore God, self, family, community, and the world around us. *The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia. Junior School provides students with a friendly environment where imaginations are kept active and social skills are developed. We understand that young children learn best when they are highly engaged and remain motivated. For this reason, our students are encouraged to explore and investigate their learning environments actively. Teaching is approached using various instructional techniques geared to moving students progressively towards a more robust understanding of and, ultimately, greater independence in their learning process. Prep to Year 1 focuses on investigative learning, where their everyday environment becomes the platform for learning, while fully including Maths, and Reading and Writing programs, are in place for students in Prep to Year 6. We aim to develop children to their fullest potential in an authentic and meaningful way. In line with this, our 'special fit' learning spaces facilitate lots of concrete, hands-on learning experiences. A range of programs exists to provide students with a sound foundation across a range of academic subjects. These specifically include an emphasis on investigative learning in Prep and Year 1. Our outside areas provide students with plenty of play and include high climbing equipment, slides, and cubbies. A fantastic vegetable garden and 'Cluckingham Palace,' the royal residence of our beloved chickens, presents students with opportunities to learn both nature and nurture. The School's 'Discovery Centre' further presents students with a great space where they can engage in quiet reading, meeting with their friends, or playing games. Junior School seeks to nurture students while allowing their learning experiences to prepare them for the academics of Middle School. Our Middle School learning spaces are designed to be innovative and flexible. Rooms contain an array of furniture options and moveable wall panels, creating flexible environments for learning and teaching. In terms of outdoor space, we have a mix of active and passive areas, including elements such as a giant chessboard, a competition-sized concrete table tennis table, a six-meter high climbing web, a basketball ring, and a rock amphitheater. Staffing is structured to ensure homeroom teachers take their class for a large proportion of the core subjects. This gives teachers a more significant opportunity to get to know their students, which allows them to offer improved pastoral care. At both Years 9 and 10, students are also given a good range of electives to choose from, including but not limited to Art, Literature, Politics, and French to Robotics and Photography, to name just a few. Electives provide an opportunity for students to focus on a subject they may plan to take in VCE or to choose something they haven't tried before. View full school

  8. Frensham Heights is a highly distinctive independent day & boarding school. We welcome students from the age of 3 to 18 and we give them the tools to succeed in their education, helping them to extend their abilities and exceed their expectations. Our EthosFrensham is a different school in many ways – and we’re very proud of that. However, it’s only very different in the context of a traditional English public school. If you’re imagining boaters or tartans or children with badges down their lapels, then we are not that. Yet if you have experienced an international school or an American school, then we’re not very different at all. So many areas that today are heralded as pioneering in education lie at the heart of what Frensham Heights has stood for since 1925. We have stayed true to our founding principles of child-centered learning and mutual respect. We have pioneered and grown without compromising what we do or how we do it. We have evolved to reflect the educational needs and realities of our students but we have not had to adapt to or adopt changes to survive. We have not had to embrace coeducation to fill places – we have welcomed boys and girls equally from the start. We have not dropped uniforms to compete with sixth form colleges – we have had no uniform for 40 years. We have not introduced a student council to meet a new trend – we have always respected the importance of the student's voice. We are always ambitious for our students to achieve their potential in whichever area they choose to pursue. Students at Frensham are exposed to a wealth of opportunities where they can discover and identify their talents – talents that, through programs such as Gifted and Talented, are subsequently nourished and celebrated. Respect is one of the key foundations of our educational philosophy. Respect cannot be forced – if it is, to be honest, it has to be earned. No form of the community can be truly successful unless its members have respect for each other and themselves. We place great emphasis on equality. From the start, Frensham has welcomed boys and girls as students. Yet equality goes deeper than that. By recognizing that each member of our school community has equal responsibility towards maintaining that community, we create an atmosphere that is relaxed, engaging, and tolerant. We have a long tradition of welcoming those who have suffered prejudice and cruelty. This began during and after the Second World War when Frensham became a haven for young people fleeing Nazi Germany. Today we continue to refuse to discriminate based on race or religion. Frensham offers young people freedom with responsibility. In keeping with our approach of mutual respect, tolerance, and celebrating the individual, we keep the number of hard and fast rules to a minimum. This means that the rules that do exist are there for a reason – to ensure Frensham is a secure place where each person takes responsibility for maintaining that security. At Frensham, cooperation means every individual, whether staff, parent, or student, is encouraged to approach any situation not thinking ‘what will I get out of this?’ but rather ‘what can I contribute?’ Visitors often remark how our students offer support and assistance without prompting and without hesitation. Creativity has many meanings at Frensham and it is found in every aspect of the school, from the classroom to the art studio, from the dance hall to the theatre, and from the staff room to the study. Creativity is not confined to the stage or the orchestra. The fact that we have no uniform and are called by our first names demands much more from the whole community than traditional approaches. Choices, value judgments, and recognizing the human qualities of each daily are much more demanding than conformity, blind acceptance, and feeling powerless. View full school
  9. We are an ambitious, inclusive, and forward-thinking 11-18 secondary academy in Tulse Hill, Lambeth serving our local community. The academy opened in September 2013, in a brand new purpose-built accommodation, with state-of-the-art facilities to match our high-quality educational provision. City Heights E-ACT Academy will grow year on year until 2020. When full, our academy will offer high-quality sixth form provision including being part of SL6 (South London Sixth, a collaboration of local sixth forms). As an E-ACT academy, we are part of the nationwide family of 25 academies, which allows us access to outstanding educational resources and expertise to help provide exceptional opportunities for all our students. We are proud to be a values-driven academy which is reflected in our vision statement. Our vision at City Heights E-ACT Academy is simple. We are an academy anchored at the heart of our community. Developing tomorrow’s leaders, compassionate and articulate ready for university or a career of their choice. City Heights E-ACT Academy is a language specialist school, which promotes bilingualism. All students at the academy study a language (Spanish, French or Portuguese). In addition to this specialism, we also have a small inclusive additional learning needs provision for students with ASD, allowing them to access mainstream education alongside tailored individual support. At City Heights, we also enjoy a unique partnership with the renowned independent school, Dulwich College who work collaboratively with us to share enrichment provision and educational opportunities. Our academy is a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment, where we have high expectations and where staff go the extra mile, to ensure that all students realize their full potential. City Heights is a happy academy, anchored in the heart of our community and we pride ourselves on the relationships our staff have with our students, caring for them throughout their education. We pride ourselves on working closely with families to ensure that all our students are committed to learning and throughout their time with us, achieve our vision statement and demonstrate our academy values in all that they do. Our values are important to us and we live them day in, day out. We were delighted to be graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2015, just 21 months into our existence. Our ambition now is for a very strong first set of GCSE results this academic year consolidating our position as a school of choice in the local community. At City Heights Academy we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. Our academy vision is integral to all that we do and is underpinned by our academy values, which are reflected in the actions, decisions, and behaviors of our community. Learning and teaching is our core business at City Heights E-ACT Academy – without exceptional lessons, we can’t become an outstanding academy. We believe that one lifetime is not enough to develop the craft of teaching and that as soon as a teacher stops learning they stop improving. As such, we are committed to giving the time, training, and leadership to our teachers which they need to reach these standards. View full school

  11. 12. The School, established in 2006, is a small co-educational day school for pupils between 11 and 16 and is situated in one of the largest Boroughs in the UK, the Borough of Hounslow. The school focuses on getting students to think for themselves and to develop study skills as well as life skills. We also teach students to respect others and to contribute their time towards the community. We hope that our ethos will inspire students to become tomorrow’s leaders and pioneers. With the right level of discipline, guidance and by paying great attention to each student we hope the school will charter education beyond the national curriculum. Oak Heights responds to the demands of change by preparing its students to become Pioneers and Leaders. Academic achievement is foremost amongst Oak Height’s goals. It aims to prepare the minds of young students so that they become the best in their eventual career field. The school is small but we believe that small group sizes allow everyone to identify themselves as a valued and secure member of the group. We believe that learning is more enjoyable for the student and it encourages the growth of intellectual curiosity and an increase in self-belief and confidence. Achieving very good examination results relative to the ability of the individual student is important. The development of self-discipline through homework, self-care, and punctuality, as well as responsibility, leads to a high standard of behavior and excellent results. The School's approach may be rigorous in its approach but providing a strongly committed staff that has high expectations of its pupils is important in the success of any school. Oak Heights is an independent school that strives to nurture, educate and cultivate the most adventurously bright, intellectual spirits to produce top future professionals. Through maintaining an unwavering disciplinary stance, the focus continually remains on teaching meticulously designed programs, which encompass all of the strengths of the national curriculum as well as other social dimensions to facilitate effective learning. Career success is of utmost priority. Both staff and students alike coordinate well in sharing the vital determination to pave the pathways to achievement be it in the Law, Medicine, Finance, or Arts employment sectors. The school is renowned for having a very selective admissions policy. A deliberate low overall intake of students serves to ensure a very high standard of regulation and accountability amongst our members. It also means the ideal level of academic, personal, and social support received by students is maintained throughout their academic pursuits. Oak Heights fully recognizes the importance of innovative teaching approaches to instill inspiration in the aspiring minds of students. Our academic timetable highlights the emphasis we place on the development of numeracy and literacy. Consistent effort is also made to develop inquiring minds and sound study habits. Cultural and artistic awareness is never neglected and students become experienced in formulating their own opinions over current affairs by daily discussions and debates over both key national and worldwide concerns. School trips and excursions are frequently organized to enhance this exposure, implanting the seeds for well-rounded personal growth. Oak Heights avoids the straitjacket approach towards learning relevant examination syllabuses to implement innovative, fresh, and cutting-edge methods of teaching to encourage broad-minded mentality and comprehension. Each student has their special talents – some are brilliant at sport, others in drama and a few just have the innate ability to debate over anything and everything affecting society today. Individuality is cherished in a way that allows the student to think for themselves and pursue their interests and strengths and ultimately, build upon their self-confidence.

  23. The Heights School is a private, independent, preparatory school for boys, grades three to twelve. Our mission is to assist parents in their sons' intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual education, with dedicated teachers training boys rigorously in the liberal arts. This formation in virtue fosters respect for every person, a desire to serve God and others, and an optimistic attitude towards life's challenges. As you will learn while perusing this site, The Heights offers a traditional liberal arts education that focuses on developing intellectual virtues, helping to foster the practice of concentrated study and a sincere interest in the abundant goodness of the world. Its curriculum is firmly grounded in the classic texts of western civilization. Its students achieve impressive results on recognized standards of excellence, such as Advanced Placement and SAT exams. Many of its graduates go on to the best colleges in the nation. At The Heights, parents are helped to form their sons into the type of men they would want their daughters to marry—men who will be great fathers. The faculty encourages the boys to be a true Christian gentleman, striving to do the ordinary things of life extraordinarily well for the love of God and in the service of others. All student programs take place in a personal approach to education where cheerfulness goes hand-in-hand with hard work and a striving to conquer oneself. The Heights School provides a traditional liberal arts curriculum grounded in the western canon, the body of learning on which western civilization rests. By incorporating the many noble aspirations and developments of the modern world into this classical context, The Heights School strives to achieve the full human development of each student. The school motto, Crescent, is the Latin translation of the Creator's first words to man, increase and grow. Indeed that divine command is the foundation of our mission: to assist parents in the intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual education of their sons. A liberal arts curriculum is essential to this mission. The liberal arts have been traditionally grouped into two broad disciplines: the trivium, consisting of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, and the quadrivium, consisting of astronomy, music, geometry, and arithmetic. At The Heights, these disciplines are represented by a core of courses in ten academic departments: English, Mathematics, Classics, History, Religion, Science, Spanish, Art, Computers, and Music. While a liberal arts education is excellent preparation for many professions, its chief value is not its practical utility but contributes to living a more dignified human life. A liberal arts education enables a student to rise above his cultural situation to contemplate the tremendous human realities that matter most in our lives: the meaning of suffering, the possibility of authentic Love, Truth, Beauty, and eternity. A liberal arts education would properly be pursued for its own sake, even if it were not useful for another end. Because the chief reason to pursue a liberal arts education is its human and formative value, The Heights School seeks to enter into a partnership with families who share this vision of education. We rely on parents who are active primary educators to pass on the riches of a liberal education to the next generation. Even the best school cannot accomplish this by itself without parents working to establish a home where such an education can be fostered. Our dedication to the traditional liberal arts and the faculty-parent partnership exists in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. The primary focus of a liberal arts education is the development of true freedom that will enable one to live a complete human life instead of the mere attainment of some technical skills or knowledge. The root of the word "liberal" is the Latin word "liber," meaning "free." A liberal arts education increases one's freedom, understood as the ability to embrace the Good, wherever it is indeed recognized. It imparts the freedom necessary to join with the great minds of history, rising above one's current situation and culture, to appreciate what is deepest in our human condition: the meaning of love, suffering, sacrifice, death, and generous service to others. Acquiring a liberal arts education is a life-long process. The Heights School strives to form life-long learners who have what educator and philosopher John Henry Cardinal Newman called a "habit of mind" in pursuit of intellectual excellence and the contemplative life. Liberal arts teach, among other things, a respect for the proper and responsible use of words, the sincere asking of questions, the recognition and appreciation of the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. A liberal arts education also opens the door to many professional opportunities. The fruits of a liberal arts education – a broad understanding of reality, clarity in thought, excellence in writing, and practical speaking skills – are essential in many professions, especially for leadership positions.
