  5. The creation of ENA, in June 1964, is regarded, rightly, as one of the measures among the largest, engaged in state-building work. In the spirit of its founders, the school embodied the will of the young Algerian State to build an administration at the level of national development challenges. She devotes recognition of official business. This hallmark requires a level and quality training that meets the need for the professionalization of the administration. It is therefore natural that the School takes its role as a tool in the service of public service policy. in the same spirit, aware of its role as a vector for innovation, the School applies to prepare, accompany and even anticipate the change in administration. in this context, having devoted to the initial training, School has been concerned to develop the activities of documentation and administrative research, to invest later in the implementation of training programs for managers in public administration. She has worked since recently, to promote consultation activities, exploiting and valuing its remarkable potential capacities of expertise and resource materials. Finally, true to its tradition of openness to the world, ENA strengthened its international action asserting its presence in multilateral cooperation programs and strengthening partnerships with counterparts in North Africa, Europe, and the world. 9. ISCEM is located at Praça do Príncipe Real, nº 27, in the historic center of Lisbon. Its building, with a meticulously restored original design, fits the architectural point of view of the historic center built after the earthquake that destroyed Lisbon in the mid-eighteenth century. The hill, in which the building was built, attracted the old families of the aristocracy and the new emerging classes. The creation of ISCEM was based on Government Ordinance on 24 October, by the Ministry of Education, who approved its plans of study in higher education and recognized the value of the diplomas conferred, corresponding to the title of the degree course in public education. ISCEM, created in 1990, was established as an innovative project, with the primary objective to achieve the highest level of development in the areas of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Information and Journalism, and Management. In this context, develops its activity in three complementary sectors: higher studies, research, and connection to society and the business community. ISCEM Educational project lies in a strong connection to the business community, with a teaching model that values know-how. This pedagogical model includes conducting semi-annual thematic projects based on empirical knowledge (Ateliers), and internships, whose aim is to mitigate the distance that normally separates the theoretical and its practical concretization. Following the most modern teaching methods, these internships allow students to have general education and a cyclical perspective of the company, where they can put into the test in direct contact with reality the validity of their theoretical knowledge and their intellectual skills. ISCEM considers of high importance the integration between knowledge and its application, encouraging the relationship between education and society, and in this sense, ISCEM is characterized in its nature as a higher education institution, which seeks the specialization in Social and Behavioural Sciences, Information, and Communication, and Management, is a cross-sectional view. ISCEM's mission is to ensure consistent progress of society, stimulating sustainable human development, through production and transmission of knowledge, dissemination of culture, economical growth, research activities, and other services to the community. ISCEM is focused on the study of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Communication and Information Sciences, and Management. It looks to ensure knowledge and innovation in these areas in a transversal way. It also aims for the training and integration of well-prepared professionals in the labor market, as well as collaboration within the business community. In ISCEM we believe that an integrated approach involving Social and Behavioural Sciences, Communication and Information Sciences, and Management is fundamental. In a complex and demanding society, where communication lays as a social and business vector, this approach is a contribution to an informed, constructive and innovative position. Thus, an integrated perspective, oriented research, as well as professional training seem to be essential to meet the expectations of the community and the needs of the labor market. As an institution of higher education, ISCEM seeks to value a practice knowledge associated with deep academic research, conscientious of the challenges of contemporary society. Through academic excellence, ISCEM aspires to be an academic reference, especially in the Lusophone world, allocating researchers and renewed professionals in the labor market. This axis reflects the scientific and academic vocation of the Institute. Comprises an interdisciplinary approach that allows, on the one hand, an awareness of the multiple variables of the society by the business world, on the other, an effective response of the academia to the challenges of companies. It has two complementary pillars: high-level studies and the oriented-research. ISCEM intends to develop an undergraduate and post-graduate cycle of studies, as well as advanced training courses, within the field of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Information and Communication, and Management Sciences. The research is carried out according to ISCEM scientific branch, within or through the exchange of researchers with other recognized Institutions. Being a high education institution, ISCEM seeks oriented research that meets practical challenges and can be useful to society and the business community. It also seeks to create an environment and a normative framework to encourage the participation of the academic staff in research activities, such as case studies or surveys. This should result in the publication of articles in national and international scientific journals, the development of research or learning projects, and the participation/organization of scientific meetings, such as workshops, conferences, seminars, workshops, or roundtables. 11. Welcome to ESSSM (Santa Maria Health School), which is a private institution of a higher education level, owned by the Portuguese Province of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, “heiress” of the history and educational legacy of ESESM (Santa Maria Nursing School), which, since 1952, has been a reference of quality in what concerns the teaching and the technical and personal development of nursing professionals, continuously sharing its mission and promoting the principles and values of its founding matrix. To rise to the current challenges, by aiming to achieve its full scope and pointing towards broadening its formation, ESESM has become, as of the ninth of June 2016, ESSSM, which continues teaching nursing at the same time as it opens up to new graduations, namely, Physiotherapy and Higher Professional Technical courses regarding related areas. Inspired by the Franciscan example and ideals, the formative and educational project of ESSSM, which guarantees the continuity of the legacy left by ESESM, wishes to give its future professionals a pluralistic formation, prominently oriented to the service of others, entrenched on principles that add value to the human person and provide privileged attention to the ones in need as well as the underprivileged and, at the same time, it’s technically advanced, aligned with cutting-edge procedures in healthcare, very engaged with the community, focused on the internationalization and on encouraging a positive transition into the world of work. ESSSM, the heiress of a relevant past, is now concentrated on the future and seeks to generate in the present tomorrow’s best professionals. In the last decades, there has been an increase in longevity in developed countries. Worldwide, numbers show a scenario where the proportion of working-age people will decline while the relative number of retired people continues to increase. This picture favors the rising of costs, ultimately compromising the sustainability of societies. To prevent systems from collapsing, this demographic change needs an integrated approach from different disciplines, taking in mind that active and healthy aging is crucial in the XXI century transforming society. By bringing an entrepreneur attitude, with innovative ideas of products and services in active aging, you will meet the current needs of society! It is time to act. Join us and you will Be a Visionary on Active Ageing. Our one-week summer course was developed for people from a mix of backgrounds and disciplines that are interested in the challenges associated with an aging population. The training focuses on contacting different successful active aging-related projects and on working groups to generate and develop creative and unique challenging solutions. Higher Educational of Vocational Courses. These courses are a new modality of study cycle, regulated by Decree-Law number 43/2014, with a four-semester (2 years) duration, corresponding to 120 credit units (ECTS), already available in Santa Maria Health School.
