  2. We are now into March and we hope spring is on the way. The end of February and the beginning of March will be remembered for the snow days. We had one of the coldest starts to March on record. At school, we managed to keep open for as long as possible but We appreciate the patience of parents and carers when decisions had to be made about closures with very little warning. Although the vast majority of staff were able to get into school to continue lessons it was unsupervised out of lesson times such as break and lunch which caused the most difficulties. Despite the best efforts of our site services staff much of the playground areas around the school were like ice skating rinks and too dangerous to allow 900 students to play in. Hopefully, those cold days are behind us and spring will finally be here. There are less than four weeks until Easter and those weeks will be filled with lessons, activities, and evening events. Year 11 students should be taking advantage of every opportunity offered to them. Revision for every subject takes place either at the end of the day or at lunchtime. A program will also be offered for the Easter Holidays. Year 9 should also be considering their future. The Year 9 exams are taking place throughout the first weeks of this month and not only should they be concentrating on revision, but they should also be considering very carefully their option choices. Option evening had to be canceled on Thursday 1st March due to the snow but is rescheduled for Thursday 8th March. Year 9 Students also have their parent's evening later in the term on Wednesday 28th March. By the start of the Easter holiday Year, 9 students should have made their final subject choices. Our vision of teaching and learning in Kelmscott School is to ensure it provides the best possible opportunity for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds to reach their fullest potential. Our motto 'Putting Learning First' is a testament to our belief in the importance of the child and our recognition that achievement will occur where pupils are nurtured in a stimulating and safe environment where learning is paramount. We understand the importance of teaching and learning within the classroom whilst also recognizing the need to promote learning through all other areas of the schools' work. Our vision is to ensure that all staff understand the link between good teaching and effective learning and therefore strive continually to improve their practice to create the best environment in which to learn. Our ultimate vision is to endure that through our teaching and learning policy we equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to take their place as valued citizens able to take a place in adult society. 8. Kassim Darwish Grammar School for Boys is an independent Islamic day school for students aged from 11 to 16 years, located in the Chorlton-Cum-Hardy area of Manchester. We at KD Grammar School think that an excellent education, delivered in a safe caring Islamic environment, gives each pupil room to grow and develop as an individual. Our school strives to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting, and cultural activities, and community life. We encourage students to be intellectually inquisitive and socially conscious. The School believes that while what students know is important, the true measure of a good education is to explore the limitations of their knowledge. All students must sit an entrance examination in Mathematics, English, and Islamic Studies. All candidates will be expected to bring their pen and pencil but they will not need a calculator. The examinations will be spread throughout the morning and boys will be provided with refreshments. Candidates wishing to apply for entry in other years will also need to sit examinations in the core subjects. This is to determine their academic standard within key areas of the National Curriculum. If your son passes, he will be invited to attend, a formal interview with the Head Teacher. Parents are invited to be present. The school will also obtain a confidential report from your son’s current school. A student will only be offered a place if the Head Teacher is satisfied that he has met all the entrance criteria. To maintain small class sizes entry to the school is competitive and based on academic performance and interviews. Opportunities are also provided for our students to be involved in the school and wider community, especially about taking responsibility and developing leadership skills. We aim to develop mature, confident, and well-balanced young men with the personal attributes of resilience and commitment which open the way to the “best” in Higher Education and employment. The majority of pupils who join us in year 7 proceed naturally to university degree courses at the age of 18. KD is a Muslim school that is open to students of all faiths. Overarching and underpinning all of the school’s work are the values of love, respect, compassion, and self-discipline together with a sense of awe and wonder about Allah SWT who sees each child as unique and precious. It is on this solid faith foundation that the school strives to be the best that it can be. Our aim is, therefore, quite simply, to produce both proud British citizens and also ambassadors for Islam. A balance is sought at KD Grammar School to enhance both the importance of a solid education and spiritual guidance and enlightenment which help produce confident young men who will make valid, noble, and worthy contributions to the wider society they live in. Assessment is a vital element in the progress of a pupil and the need for ongoing, teacher-led assessment is a crucial part of effective teaching. Consequently, KD Grammar assesses the progress of students at four points in each academic year, tracking their performance against their target grades. Each of the three termly formal assessments is accompanied by scrutiny of each pupil’s performance to ensure the required level of progress is being maintained and this is fed back to the parents using a data report that is sent home. The fourth assessment is the end-of-year exam which is accompanied by a much more in-depth report, celebrating areas of good progress and highlighting any areas requiring improvement. Year 11 pupils have a slightly different assessment system as they are given GCSE Mocks exams in December to assess their progress towards their target grades for the summer exams. These exams are quickly marked and the results given to parents in an individual report. Much emphasis is placed on the results of these exams as these are often used by colleges for application forms and making offers for places for A level. The GCSE results for KD Grammar are amongst the highest in Manchester, with KD continuing to be the number 1 boys’ school in Manchester. The GCSE pass rate is very nearly twice that of Manchester LEA (49%) and has averaged out at over 91% for the last three years for A*-C (including English and Maths). We at KD Grammar School for Boys strongly believe that a positive partnership with parents is vital for the success of our students. Any parent who has a query or concern, can ring the school office and make any necessary appointments to discuss the relevant queries. View full school

  16. Juniper Green Primary is a forward-thinking school where everyone is valued and encouraged to aim for excellence. We are extremely proud of all that goes on here. We are extremely proud of all that goes on here. At Juniper Green Primary School we value and promote: High expectation of success Preparation for the future Agreed values promoted by all A secure, happy and caring environment Everyone value and working in partnership Caring for local and wider communities and our planet A challenging, motivating, creative, and fun curriculum Respectful, mannerly, and fair treatment of all Promotion of healthy life-styles We wish to encourage a partnership with you to ensure the best possible standards of pupil behavior. Our “Better Relationships, Better Behaviour, Better Learning” policy is given in leaflet form to all new parents and we hope you will support us in ensuring that we work together to encourage positive behavior in our school. Our curriculum is inclusive. It is a stimulus for personal achievement and is designed to give our pupils a broad experience of the world encouraging them to realize informed and responsible citizenship. We are striving to enable every child to realize their potential in all aspects of life. ‘Education must develop every child’s personality, talents, and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment’ We symbolize this through our juniper berries - the fruits or outcomes that we are aiming for our learners in terms of personal attributes, capabilities, skills, knowledge, and understanding of the world, so that, as fully developed young people they will become successful learners, Responsible citizens, Confident individuals, and Effective contributors. Curriculum for Excellence emphasizes the value of an active learning approach. In the early years, children will have a range of learning experiences that include planned and purposeful play and stimulating learning which engages and challenges children’s thinking using real-life and imaginary situations. As children progress through school they continue to be involved in active learning experiences which are engaging and give them ownership of their learning. Is at the heart of our aims and embedded in the ethos of the school. We do this by offering a vibrant and stimulating curriculum that is shaped by the 7 principles of curriculum design. The benchmark for our curriculum is planning for challenge and enjoyment. Learning will not take place effectively unless our children are engaged and motivated. They have personalization and choice through being given plenty of opportunities to direct and shape their learning through choosing aspects of what they study so that it can be made personal to their interests and needs. Our delivery of the curriculum maximizes opportunities to make links across subjects and skills to ensure a coherent experience wherein children can understand why they are learning and how it is relevant in preparing them to take their place in society. We plan wherever possible to enable learners to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and skills in real life or meaningful situations or contexts so that the relevance is apparent. We plan for both depth and breadth and our programs of work ensure that the learners experience progression throughout their time in the school. We offer a wide a range of sporting and cultural activities as possible. There is a range of extracurricular activities available for pupils during lunchtime and after school. Parents will be informed about these by the school. In addition to in-school activities, classes also make regular educational visits and field studies. These visits are linked to pupils’ classwork. 18. Every child in our care is an individual. We uphold the values of building self-esteem and self-belief in a very supportive and kind atmosphere. Our much-loved school is steeped in history, yet our teaching methodology is advanced, innovative, and modern. The Junior School was founded in 1879 as the preparatory school to The King’s School, Canterbury. In 1929 the School expanded to the stunning eighty-acre countryside location at Milner Court, Sturry. The 16th century Manor House and our Tithe Barn are augmented by superb educational, boarding, extra-curricular, and sporting facilities. Our Nursery, Pre-Prep, and Prep departments provide a very happy, caring, and nurturing environment for our pupils. At Junior King’s we have a very dedicated staff who provide excellent opportunities for children to learn, explore, experiment, develop and extend their interests, skills, and talents. The children are at the very center of all we do, and we provide the very best academic and pastoral care. Our provision for sport and the expressive arts, including art, drama, music, and dance are exceptional. Our role is to ignite our pupils’ interests and talents through a wide range of activities. We aim to provide them with skills for life, including how to think creatively, how to be curious, how to work well together in teams, and how to help to develop resilience. We provide an outstanding skills-based, broad and creative education that opens up a world of possibilities and inspires a love of learning in every child. Independence, critical thinking, the ability to exercise choice, and to engage in self-evaluation and reflection are important. Our pastoral care is a priority and underpins everything we do: we build respect, empathy, self-belief, and self-esteem, so that our children grow in mind, body, and spirit, in a secure and very caring, and nurturing environment. Good behavior, positive relationships, respect, readiness, courtesy, and kindness are expected from all members of our school community. We listen to and value the opinions of all the children. We recognize and develop the individual strengths and potential of each child. We ensure everyone can flourish and develop through a wide array of extra-curricular activities, creative arts, and sports opportunities and we build their self-confidence and resilience. By the time our children leave the school, they are well-rounded, confident, resilient, motivated, and forward-thinking young adults, ready to move on to their senior schools of choice. We maintain a close partnership, effective communication, and collaboration with parents over all aspects of their children’s education. Our Ethos Resilience, Respect, Readiness Our three core values are at the heart of our school. The Junior King’s School forms part of the Cathedral Foundation of the King’s School in Canterbury, its roots stretching as far back as AD597 and the arrival of St Augustine’s mission to England. The Christian values of love, kindness, justice, tolerance, respect, honesty, service, and trust are encouraged and practiced to promote positive relationships throughout the community. We are a Christian school but other faiths and cultures are respected and celebrated. Our children develop greater empathy by helping others in the wider community and through charitable contributions. Every child matters and we believe that happy children will achieve their full potential, flourish and develop, supported by our high-quality, experienced, and caring staff. At Junior King’s we combine tradition with a modern outlook, the local with the international and academic rigor with meeting the needs of all learners. View full school

Following discussions and informal assessments staff identify children’s interests, strengths, and next steps for learning. Individual portfolios of children’s work are developed over the year to demonstrate progress made in all areas of learning. All curriculum subjects are enriched with themed days, educational visits, and visitors to the school to provide a multi-sensory and experiential approach to learning. We aim to teach the children to: Care and respect for themselves, others, and the environment Become confident learners who are resourceful, reflective, resilient, and reciprocal Become confident leaders Become aware of their impact on the environment and empower them to make positive contributions, taking responsibility for their actions Be able to express themselves creatively to dream, explore and discover. Do the very best they possibly can
