We are a popular and successful primary and nursery school for boys and girls. We have a vibrant and diverse school community where mothers, fathers, and carers feel at home and take an active part in helping their children to learn and make progress.
We expect all our children to make excellent academic progress and to leave us to go on to secondary school as confident and enthusiastic learners, ready for the next phase of their life. We have a lovely school which is kept in a beautiful condition to reflect the high standards that we set ourselves in all areas.

The vast majority of our children speak languages other than English at home. Many of our children start school with low skills in speaking and listening. Over half of our children come from families that are eligible for pupil premium funding. We know that many disadvantaged children start falling behind before they start school.
For all these reasons, we have a focus on speaking and listening in the Early Years. We focus on reading, writing, and mathematics across the whole school. As a result, our pupils achieve very well at each key stage. We teach these fundamental skills in ways that will interest and inspire children.
We emphasize the importance of these skills in other subjects. We make sure that children get engaging and challenging lessons in every subject. We make links between different subjects. We also aim to develop subject-specific skills. For example, in history lessons, we teach children to think like a historian. Children make and follow their lines of inquiry.
Children enjoy a range of first-hand experiences. They go on many different trips. Visitors, workshops, and investigative approaches get them excited by the curriculum. For example, children visit a science laboratory and they make their shampoo.
We also place a lot of importance on the arts. All children in Years 4 to 6 learn a musical instrument. All children get opportunities to perform in public. For example, children perform at the Royal Albert Hall with other Camden schools. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform and hold workshops with children. Children also have the opportunity to be creative and learn a range of artistic skills.
We prepare children for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life. We particularly emphasize the importance of cooperation and teamwork.
At Kingsgate Primary School we expect all pupils to make good progress and achieve their highest potential. We welcome all children in the community and we make every effort to ensure that special educational needs or a disability will not be a bar to joining in the normal day-to-day activities that other children experience.
Sometimes children just need a bit more help and we are quick to spot when to give that help. Sometimes children have more complex needs and we work with a range of agencies to support their learning.
Our teachers and teaching assistants are very skilled at helping all the children in their class learn, whatever their needs. Two learning mentors, an art therapist, and a senior educational psychologist also help children when they need more support.
The children from Year 3 to Year 6 all have a responsibility such as buddying younger children or being mediators to help each other sort out any friendship issues. They learn to help each other and they learn important life skills at the same time. The school recently achieved the Camden Award for Inclusion which recognized our commitment to enabling all our pupils to achieve highly, whatever their needs.
