- The Istituto Marymount is an officially recognized private Catholic school, founded in 1930. It welcomes Early Childhood, Primary, and Middle School students and aims to implement the fundamentals of the order of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary providing education and training based on Christian values. The school welcomes students of different cultural and religious backgrounds by promoting the human, Christian, social and individual growth of its pupils. Education is dedicated to developing the potential of each student, to create the solid foundation that will enable them to face the challenges of a changing world. The bilingual project offers the opportunity to deepen and enhance the study of the English language, adding value to our school. The commitment of all teachers ensures that our young pupils acquire the basic principles of Italian and International culture to go forth into the world with confidence and competence. One of the primary goals is to form students who are well prepared and with a profound sense of religion, through the implementation of the Mission of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary shared by all. We provide an educational program of the highest standard that recognizes and develops each individual’s potential in a stimulating environment. We ensure balanced intellectual growth through an integrated curriculum. We educate our students to communicate, live cooperatively, and function effectively in a global and technological society. We develop an informed awareness of beauty in the universe. We enable students to study and research independently, think critically, reflect wisely, and have informed opinions. We maintain a high level of professional development. The classrooms are organized to offer the children a serene environment for daily routines, socio-recreational activities, and playtime. Large rooms equipped with games allow the children to move freely in complete safety. In these colorful, functional classrooms equipped with stimulating educational tools, children begin their first approach to the acquisition of knowledge. Learning through games is considered the most significant learning method for this age group and a careful selection of materials has a vital role in specific learning experiences.
- QSI International School of Brindisi is a private, non-profit institution that opened in September of 2005. It offers a high-quality education in the English language for preschool, elementary, and secondary students. The warm and welcoming school community makes it an ideal place to receive a quality education from QSI. The school facilities are located in a building originally constructed as an Italian preschool. The school is located in the S. Elia section of Brindisi and is close to the main hospital, two new shopping centers, a Thursday open market, and a local park. Our facilities include a picnic area adjacent to the school and a small playground with swings, slides, a jungle gym, and a merry-go-round. We also have a small football pitch on each side of the building for use during activities, recess, and physical education. QSI International School of Brindisi has served the local and expatriate communities of Puglia. QSI Brindisi was established to provide quality education in the English language for students between the ages of 3 and 18. Our goal is to offer an exceptional education in the context of a vibrant educational family. We offer a well-rounded curriculum, taught by certified teachers, and based on a Mastery Learning approach to education. Our students, whose families come to Italy for business, humanitarian missions, and government assignments, come from over 15 nationalities, making us a truly international community. QSI Brindisi is an independent, coeducational program, offering rigorous classes from age 3 through secondary graduation. Our students are led by qualified teachers who care for them as individuals, and QSI holds full accreditation from the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is governed by the Quality Schools International Board of Directors, as well as a local Advisory Board, who offer guidance to the school. QSI Brindisi follows a model of education that measures success by the accomplishments and attitudes of our students. We believe that all of our students can succeed, that their successes encourage them to create habits that lead to more success, and that it is the schools' responsibility to provide the conditions for success. We also believe in teaching the whole child, working with parents to encourage students to adopt character skills that lead to success long after formal schooling has ended. These universally accepted "Success Orientations", known as "TRACKING" with the Brindisi wolves, of trustworthiness, responsibility, aesthetic appreciation, concern for others, kindness & politeness, independent endeavor, and group interaction are behavior traits we build and reinforce alongside academic lessons. The success-oriented way of operating schools leads to optimum learning and too happy and motivated students. Using knowledge of educational research, these schools are student performance-based rather than 'time-based or 'calendar-based. Teachers and students in QSI schools use time as a resource to reach mastery of clearly defined objectives rather than using time as a boundary condition to determine when learning begins and ends. Students are given the time needed to achieve success. QSI teachers employ instructional practices of excellence. The measure of success in QSI education is how well the students learn. The motto “Success For All” remains an ultimate benefit to the wholesome environment and education of its students. View full school

- Established in 1982, UWC Adriatic brings together over 180 students from more than 80 countries for the final two years of their high school education. Life at our residential school can be demanding and truly transformational. Living in rooms of 2, 3, or 4 students in one of our 7 residences scattered throughout the village, co-curricular life is at the heart of the UWC Adriatic experience, with a particular emphasis on service to others. Eighty percent of our students are non-native English speakers yet all study towards the full International Baccalaureate diploma in English. All students also study Italian. With all our teachers living in the village as well and acting as personal and residence tutors, we are a very tight-knit community. UWC aims to use education as a force to unite people. United World Colleges is a unique organization. It is the only global educational NGO that brings students together from all over the world, selected from within their own countries on merit and regardless of their ability to pay. These students come together at one of 17 United World Colleges that aims to foster international understanding, peace, and sustainability. UWC Adriatic brings highly motivated young students from all parts of the world so they can live and learn together. Our objective is to help students become active, involved, and educated citizens whose attitudes towards understanding and community service will be a powerful catalyst for change. Through the students, as representatives of their countries, we hope to influence their wider communities to become more understanding, compassionate, and peaceful. In short, we aim to create a better world through education. UWC Adriatic welcomes young people at the threshold of adult independence and guides them on the way to being compassionate and conscientious individuals with the energy and understanding to work for positive change. Experiences gained within a diverse multicultural community in an Italian region at the crossroads of cultural, political, historical, and geographical transitions are used to stimulate personal reflection and growth. The UWC educational model provides a common framework within which all UWC schools and colleges operate. It does not set down a curriculum but focuses on what is unique about UWC’s approach to education. Diversity is at the center of the experience of every student in every college: at UWC diversity extends to differences in socioeconomic background, culture, race, and religion as well as nationality. That means our students benefit from learning in a diverse environment that helps to broaden the mind and sense of self, and where students gain a globally recognized pre-university qualification that will prepare them to take leading roles in an increasingly complex world. - Acorn House has been providing quality education for children since 1999. We are an English-speaking international association with mother-tongue highly qualified teachers, and pride ourselves on being an inclusive schooling system that supports children according to their needs. The school is also affiliated with primary schools and teacher training centers in the UK and Italy, enabling us to keep up-to-date with curriculum and standards issues. We also provide a deep immersion into the Italian school system and culture, by following a stimulating bilingual English/ Italian curriculum that is developed around both curriculum requirements. Our children attend yearly government exams, to allow families the freedom of choice amongst two different learning paths, and support any possible sudden change that parents may encounter due to international work mobility and relocation. The foundations of learning and the security of independence that we support from an early age permeate through to all levels of ability and learning for each child. We coordinate a dual curriculum program and learning activities with one another, to prepare children for their passage into the next key stage level of learning. We care for the happiness, health, and confidence of each of our students, encouraging each child to build a positive self-image. From Early Years to the end of Key Stage 3, Acorn House children are surrounded by an acre of parkland to explore and use during free play and PE lessons, as well as during science experiments and theatre rehearsals. Acorn House students are exposed to an environment that stimulates their curiosity and creativity in learning. Since 1999, an inspiring performing arts department has also been established and offered as part of the life of all AHI children. Students participate in international art awards and some of their work has been displayed at the Saatchi Gallery in London. At AHI, our classroom teaching method acknowledges the child's voice, making learning child-centered, activating children's motivation and the learning process. We like to offer them experiences that bring learning to life, during specific cross-curricular projects or by publishing children’s stories in real books and organizing Author Day, after creative literature cycles. We also encourage students belonging to upper KS2 and KS3 classes to participate in Bocconi maths games and we are proud of their results. AHI offers an innovative and dynamic learning program covering Early Years KS1, KS2, and more recently KS3. The decision to extend the work done in these first 15 years at Acorn House allowed us to cover the learning itinerary progressively and continuously from 2 to 14 years old, in line with the recent Italian National Educational Guidelines, facilitating the link with the second educational cycle. Acorn House believes that every child has a right to the best education possible. We aim to develop both intellect and character within a stimulating and challenging dual curriculum, nurturing the development of conscientious and responsible global citizens, as well as life-long learners. Respect for each other and for the world we live in are central values at Acorn House. We teach and celebrate cultural diversity and individual differences. Through our project-based curriculum, we study aspects of life and geographical features within cultures other than our own. Through fundraising, the students are encouraged to adopt an endangered animal and donate to charities supporting schools and children in developing countries. We motivate our students to “develop the core competencies which allow them to engage with the world, and help make it a more just and sustainable world. Acorn House provides a stimulating dual curriculum program of study that engages each child through study, exploration, and inquiry. We inspire our students to be critical, creative, innovative, and enterprising problem-solvers and team-workers who are communicative and literate in multiple languages. - St. Declan's School was founded in 1958 by the Irish Jesuits for children who, for personal or emotional reasons, achieve below their potential in their local schools. We strive to create a supportive environment for the boys and girls in our care. St. Declan's caters to children who, for one reason or another, are achieving below their potential at school. Boys and girls of primary school age, who have run into personal or educational difficulties in another school, can be referred to St. Declan's. If children have the sort of problems that can be helped by a year or a few years in St. Declan's, they can transfer here until they are ready to return to mainstream schools. St. Declan's School has a special role in providing a secure, safe and supportive learning environment that caters to each child's individual needs. At St. Declan's we wish to maintain a learning environment that allows each child to reach his or her full potential. The rights of pupils and members of staff are enshrined in the school's code of behavior. In St. Declan's a common spirit lies behind teaching and learning in the life of the school. This common spirit or 'ethos' described here is for the whole school community - the board of management, the teachers, the secretary, the children, and their parents. Developing competence in communication and social skills, learning to deal with situations calmly and respectfully. We learn to use our heads and think of better ways to deal with others. A formed conscience that knows what is good and true and moves us to act following the rights of others. We work with the children to become large-hearted, being able to forgive and let things go to try and be whole-hearted, doing our best with the talents we have, and to speak from the heart avoiding be ruled by passion or anger. Each class learns about the St. Declan's Code and creates their age-appropriate Classroom Charter which helps the children take ownership of the code. More recently (2014) a student council has been set up with the support of Special Needs Assistants which gives the children more responsibility in the life of the school. View full school

- Our primary school has been here on Lower Baggot Street for nearly 200 years and we teach boys and girls from Junior Infants to the 6th class. Founded in 1827 by the Blessed Catherine McCauley, we are the parish school of St. Andrew's, Westland Row. We continue our proud history of education by working with children and families from the local area, other parts of Dublin city, and all over the world. Our school crest represents that all of our children grow and work together. 'Respect' is a keyword in our school and this is reflected in how all members of our school community treat each other. Our core goal of developing independence in all children plays a central role in our teaching and learning as we deliver the primary school curriculum every day. Our school motto, 'Le Chéile', shows the high value we place on a meaningful home-school relationship as we help each child reach his or her potential. Scoil Chaitríona Baggot Street is a Catholic school and by our ethos, we work together to create a nurturing and Christian school community. Our school also welcomes and embraces children of all faiths and none. We operate under the Patronage of the Archdiocese of Dublin and we are the mainstream school of the historic parish of St. Andrew’s in Westland Row. We promote our ethos by encouraging respect for ourselves and others. All members of our school community – children, families, staff, and visitors alike – are encouraged to display tolerance, inclusiveness, and care towards one and other at all times. We want every one of our children to reach his or her full potential and we hope to instill a love of life-long learning in every child we are privileged to teach. We are also highly respectful of the role of every parent as the primary educator of the child. Meas orainn Fein and grá don in. We work with each child to make sure that he or she is supported where necessary and to extend and challenged as well. With this differentiation, we aim to keep raising and maintaining standards in the three core subjects of Numeracy, Literacy, and Irish while at the same time keeping all the other subjects of our curriculum alive and enjoyable. For us, primary school is not purely about getting our children ready for secondary school. As well as learning the academic side of the curriculum and achieving results, we also want our children to develop all parts of themselves - socially, emotionally, physically, imaginatively, spiritually, and morally. It’s also hugely important to us that every child is given the chance to develop strong thinking skills and the ability to understand the world around them. Each child is different. They all have their strengths, abilities, interests, and personalities. In our school, we recognize, support, and celebrate these differences and we work with each child with this in mind. - On July 25th, 1887 the General Council of the Holy Ghost Fathers meeting in Paris gave its approval for the establishment of a Secondary School in Rathmines. The plan was delayed by two factors – lack of available personnel and the difficulty in obtaining a suitable site. April 11, 1890, was the significant date on which the decision was made to begin the project of founding a day school in Dublin “without delay”. On July 27th Fr. Jules Botrel – the Provincial Superior – was able to write with evident relief. Larkhill was originally built in 1841. It was later rented and then bought by Mr. James Walker, a Quaker. Fr. Botrel bought it for £2,000. Adapting it for the first intake of students on September 8th, 1890 cost another £1,000. In a letter of July 27th, Fr Botrel informed the Superior General that “the alterations at Larkhill are well advanced. For £500 we have transformed the stable and coach-house into two fine classrooms we have changed the courtyard into a magnificent assembly hall with a glass roof. This will be the centerpiece of future buildings. The £500 includes the building of an office and ten toilets.” A nearby house at 13 Leinster Square was rented to house the Community temporarily. The last ten years have seen huge changes in education in Ireland. Very detailed legislation covers all aspects of school life, so that management and administration of schools are now a huge challenge to all concerned. Principals must delegate much responsibility to deputies, deans, and middle management. Parents and pupils have legally defined roles as partners in the education enterprise. St. Mary’s is fortunate to have trustees, the Spiritan Education Trust, giving it support, affirmation, and direction at this challenging time. As its Mission Statement has it: “St. Mary’s continues to be a community of faith and learning that fosters idealism, inspires hearts and informs minds in the wisdom, which enables people to know and do what is right”. “Being faithful in difficult circumstances (Fidelitas in Arduis) remains a realistic motto for this school, as it is for life itself”. “St. Mary’s true to its traditions continue to be a community of faith and learning that fosters idealism, inspires hearts and informs minds in the wisdom which enables people to know and to do what is right”. This community and its mission of educational service are grounded in the Gospels and therefore are inseparable from a value system that includes: An acknowledgment of the uniqueness and intrinsic worth of each person Encouragement and affirmation for all Concern for the needs and rights of others Protection for all who are vulnerable in our midst Who are motivated to live their lives by Gospel values? Who are inner-directed and capable of choosing freely by their conscience Who will play their full role in the wider community as citizens who are informed, trustworthy, and confident in their responsibilities.
