Core International School in Rome was founded in 1983 and is staffed by qualified, experienced British teachers. The school began in a small way and although it has grown over the last thirty years we have been able to maintain the original familiar atmosphere where children of many nationalities, cultures and religious backgrounds, learn to live and work together in harmony. The school policy is to keep classes small, with about 16 children in each class so that each child receives individual attention and is encouraged to reach his or her full potential. All lessons are conducted in English and emphasis is placed on children acquiring a sound understanding of the three basic skills, whilst learning in a creative environment. We can support both parents and children in various aspects of school life. A highly experienced learning specialist is available to make full assessments on both learning and behavioral problems. After which a specialized learning support teacher creates an individual education program that is followed throughout the school. Strong emphasis is given to the acquisition of the basic skills, laying foundations in all aspects of learning activities, and building up positive attitudes for the rest of school life. A rich course of geography, history, science, art, music, and drama are included in the curriculum. All classrooms are equipped with a computer which children use to augment their studies. Italian lessons begin at the age of 5 and for the first year is mainly oral. By year 2 the children start to follow the Italian curriculum using the appropriate textbooks, gaining a good knowledge of reading and grammar. Since 1965 the European School Varese has been bringing to success thousands of students who passed their European Baccalaureate! The International School of Modena is entering an extremely exciting phase in its history, This year the school celebrates its twentieth anniversary as a school, and the tenth anniversary at the beautiful, and ever-improving, Montale campus, deep in the Modena countryside.
