      1. Each day’s schedule is carefully planned with an emphasis on exploration and process, questioning and discovering. Activities are designed to foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and ethical growth along developmental continuums. Classrooms are divided into areas with developmentally appropriate activities available for a single child or small groups of children to enjoy. Our older children also work on projects in groups or individually in which they learn about topics of interest to them. Our teachers are nurturers and facilitators, who help children plan, select, and explore materials in ways, which help them develop study skills that further their readiness to move easily and confidently into kindergarten. Mitsui Gardens International Preschool is the result of a response that child care was needed by the American Embassy community in Tokyo. It has grown from a small daycare facility with one teacher and an assistant to a full-fledged international preschool. Our Mitsui Gardens International Preschool’s philosophy, teachers, parents, and curriculum support a developmental, dramatic play-based approach to learning, which is incorporated in our daily activities and schedules. We provide challenging activities which offer children many opportunities to construct new knowledge about their world through play. Each day’s schedule is carefully planned to provide developmentally age-appropriate activities designed to entice children to explore and learn. The lessons and activities follow The Creative Curriculum for Early Childhood developed by Teaching Strategies, Inc. located in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. The curriculum provides our staff with clear and concrete ways to apply child development research and learning theories in our classrooms! View full school
      2. Wessex Gardens Primary and Nursery School is a place where we grow kind, confident, resilient, and independent lifelong learners in a trusting and honest environment. Here everyone is welcome and valued. We are motivated and supported to reach our full potential as we continue to aspire to excellence. We are a happy working community where families, children, and staff come from many different backgrounds and cultures. We are committed to providing the best possible learning environment to ensure that the achievement of every single child matches their potential. All the staff and governors at Wessex Gardens are dedicated and enthusiastic, with the needs of the pupils driving every decision. At Wessex Gardens we strive to nurture our pupils so that they may become caring and compassionate human beings ready to make a positive contribution to the wider community when they leave our care. At Wessex Gardens, we aim to provide the best education for all pupils by creating a safe environment, where pupils can flourish and enjoy themselves through the various ways of learning. We recognize that barriers to learning for some can impact a child’s attainment and well-being and we ensure that children eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant have the required support in place for them to achieve their full potential, in line with the Wessex Gardens Vision. Wessex Gardens Primary School serves a richly varied community. Our pupils come from a range of cultural, linguistic, social, and religious backgrounds. Over 80% of our pupils speak English as an additional language (EAL) and more than 50 home languages are spoken in the school. Many EAL pupils have attended school and are literate in their home languages whereas some may have had no formal education. Some EAL pupils are isolated learners and maybe the only speaker of their home language in the school. Some of our pupils are refugees and have experienced prejudice, racism, and trauma in their home countries. We have a high level of mobility as many families are in temporary accommodation or are working in the UK on short-term contracts. It is this very mixed community that gives Wessex Gardens its unique and very special character Wessex Gardens Primary School is committed to the inclusion and high achievement of all ethnic minority pupils and the removal of any linguistic, cultural, or social barriers to learning. At Wessex Gardens, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfill their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high-quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. Wessex Gardens Primary School is committed to giving all children the opportunity to develop as responsible citizens. The children will therefore develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills required to empower them to make appropriate choices and to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. We believe that Growth and Relationships Education is an integral part of the lifelong learning process, beginning in early childhood and continuing into adult life. View full school

      5. Being a School of Excellence is more than a league table rating. It is more than having students rank in the top 10% of the state or nation. A School of Excellence is one where every child achieves at their ability. Longitudinal studies have shown that students in Seventh-day Adventist Schools significantly improve. They are learning the longer they are enrolled, beginning with a small improvement beyond their expected ability and, over time, building into significant improvement. Landsdale Christian School focuses on school improvement through the QASF and the provision of learning programs to meet students' individual needs that enable us to help build this culture of improvement and be a School of Excellence.
