  1. Tyre Community School not only motivates its students to pursue academic excellence but also empowers them to be life-long learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society. At TCS, we aim to identify the talents, skills, and abilities of each student, to nurture and encourage them to think, express, and exhibit their skills in their daily life. Our educational system helps the student develop his/her personality and equip him/her to face the challenges of life. We wish to develop a passion for learning inside the child's heart and mind so that he/she does not stop growing. TCS motivates its teachers to provide an atmosphere for discovery, where students are encouraged to be creative and curious. We tend to teach our students through observation and experience. In the words of John Dewey, “Education is not preparation for life education is life itself.” At present, TCS strives to develop in students' minds a sense of discipline and moral values. Our educational philosophy is centered on praise, encouragement, enthusiasm, and affection, rather than criticism, fear, and punishment. This is the third year of TCS, and with the help of God and blessings, we will be up to the expectations of the families who entrusted their children to our care. Tyre Community school, its teachers, administrators, and staff are united in their belief that all children: Have the power to learn. Are curious & creative. Can succeed No two students have the same skills or learning style. That’s why we create an individual learning plan for every child. Our plans combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one tutoring in a way that works for your student. Integrity Service Responsibility Teamwork Honesty Excellence Commitment In TCS kindergarten we work so hard on the child’s personality because that’s what matters. Making our learners dream of coming to school the next day with a smile on their faces is one of our most important goals. In TCS kindergarten we implant morals as well as education. It has become the best place for our learners and we will keep on working hard to go even further. Cycle 1 is an exciting time of discovery for our beloved young students in which they learn, using all their senses, to make connections between the written word with pictures, ideas, and concepts. We also believe that this is the opportunity to help them learn routines which help them to be organized, not only for school but for life. TCS makes learning fun. We do this in many ways both inside and outside the classroom. Activities in class and outside of class connect learning to life and develop a spirit of community. We also choose activities to help remind the children to care both for themselves as well as for others. As they continue to grow, they learn how to order their own lives and how to better order their world. Cycle 2 is a foundational time in the lives of our students. Beginning to cover a more comprehensive range of academic subjects while developing both physically and emotionally, the administrative team at TCS works to further develop this growth through the promotion of: They use modern methods of learning based on activities and technology. Integrating learners into society through participation in several social activities (such as visiting a nursing home, hosting a lunch for children from disadvantaged families, fundraising for cancer centers, and other events both national and international). Giving attention to the individual talents and abilities of our learners through participation in varied sporting, artistic and scientific events. Each student matters to us and our hope is that they will love being at TCS as much as we love having them here. In its intermediate and secondary programs, TCS aims to have a well-rounded program that balances academics with extra-curricular activities. Why? Because learning and life go together. We seek to foster discipline and motivation from within our students to make them mature, eager, independent learners. We also seek to distinguish our school by caring about the whole student. We not only focus on academic achievement, with concern for their minds, but we seek to develop hearts and morals with the hope of furthering them as productive and responsible world citizens. Lebanese Program. This program aims at leading students to fulfill the requirements of the Lebanese Ministry of Education curriculum in preparation for the government examinations. The school implements the curriculum by adopting books that provide healthy and constructive methods that encourage student's involvement in the learning process. Information technology is an integral part of the instructional procedures and students are encouraged to use Information Technology in fulfilling the objective and goals. The objectives of the Lebanese Curriculum set by the ministry of English Language, Science, and Math are fulfilled through American textbooks (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) books that enrich the learning process. Computer-Based Learning. Learning is interactive. It is more effective when students are engaged in interaction with the teacher, other students, and resources, including technology. In these programs, our classes are equipped with Interactive boards, laptops and students use individual mini-laptops where each learns gradually and interactively lessons. Foreign System Learning. We offer students who have studied abroad and for students with foreign passports a specialized program of study, with most subjects in English (for those whose first language is English) and with consideration for those who need additional support in a second language (English/Arabic). While working within the ability level of each student, the program seeks to develop creative and critical thinking skills, independent learning, and values each student’s contribution. 3. Wellspring Learning Community aims to establish an inquiry-based learning environment in which students from diverse backgrounds are given every opportunity to realize their social, emotional, and academic capacities and talents. Our students will become confident, resourceful, creative, caring, responsible, and thinking citizens prepared to use their education to contribute in meaningful ways toward improving society, both locally and internationally. In support of the mission, teachers and administrators work collaboratively in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust to design, plan and provide a positive learning environment that builds on an ongoing process of self-assessment, evidence-based decision making, and continual improvement. At Wellspring we are committed to the following guiding principles: Establishing a safe and collaborative learning community that meets the needs of the students, school personnel, and parents. Maintaining well-kept, clean, and vibrant physical campus environments. Giving attention to the whole child by supporting students’ development in all domains, including the academic, linguistic, social, emotional, ethical, artistic, and physical. Making education relevant to the real world and children’s life experiences. Honoring diversity and individual differences. Promoting the development of strong multilingual abilities. Delivering an equitable education for all students. Holding ourselves accountable for students’ learning and school-based development. Putting in practice an interactive, creative approach to teaching and learning that combines the best elements of a variety of modern classroom instructional strategies to meet different learning abilities. Empowering teachers as professional decision-makers. Wellspring Learning Community is the realization of a dream shared by a team of dedicated educators who believe that all the children of Lebanon and those coming from abroad deserve to study in a high-quality learning environment that opens up a space for developing all their talents and intellectual potential, as well as their capacity for understanding and caring about the world around them. Our dream can only be fully realized through the learning, accomplishments, and future needs of our students as they journey through life. Wellspring literally means the source. Historians tell us that one of the leading theories of how Beirut was named is related to the Arabic word for a well or a source of water. Indeed the land on which the Wellspring Learning Community Mathaf campus now sits, located “jamb il Mathaf” was once rich in agricultural resources, full of olive and pomegranate groves. In naming the school, we had all this in mind, however, our true aim was to capture our belief that children are an infinitely renewable source of ideas, energy, and knowledge. We hope that our school will promote children’s natural predisposition to inquire and make sense of their experience in the world around them. 17. ABS is incredibly excited about entering our 10th year. We are very happy and proud of the golden opportunities we have been able to offer our students as we strive to find more ways to become even better. Since ABS was opened in 2006 we have seen many great changes and expanded significantly in all aspects such as academic, social, and character education, athletics, and art. Professional activities have been incorporated into every field and we put great emphasis upon building teachers’ skills to continue to develop their level of performance in the classroom which, in turn, gives students a wonderful learning environment full of engagement and meaningful work. Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, we are continuing to build on and refine our solid foundation by having even more extracurricular activities and advanced professional development workshops to encourage our students to become more involved with school life. We are enjoying another very positive and productive year with our highly qualified professional educators who are committed to providing our students with the best education. Being in the Middle East region we face many challenges and yet we always ensure we find other support options that allow us to succeed and continue to enjoy great success. At ABS we highly value school/parent communication. It is extremely important to us and plays an important role in student success so we always endeavor to work cooperatively and in parallel. The American Baccalaureate School is a private, non-profit K-12 school offering an American-based curriculum including a wide variety of advanced courses, and a college preparatory program, guiding students to become independent, intellectual global citizens. Our community practices Islamic values and morals while focusing on creating responsible and accountable young adults who are prepared for the challenges of international universities. 21. The American School of Kuwait (ASK) has been established for fifty-two years. ASK’s story tells a rich history of perseverance, strong leadership, and dedication from all members of the organization, past, and present, towards the goal of giving our students the highest standards of American education in Kuwait. The American School of Kuwait welcomed its first group of students in 1964. Beginning in 1963, a group of American parents selected a Board of Trustees to establish an international school patterned authentically after the American school model. In September 1964, the American School of Kuwait began its first official term under the name of the "International School of Kuwait" in a large villa in the Dasman Area of Sharq. A full program for grades kindergarten through twelfth grade was provided for seventy-five students. These initial students came from several different countries. In 1969, the school moved to a new location in Surra. These improved facilities offered in the Surra campus led to a significant increase in student enrollment. It was at that time that the school changed its name to the "American School of Kuwait" to better reflect its mission and educational philosophy. Subsequently, the high school received its initial U.S. Accreditation from The Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in 1971. At the American School of Kuwait, we inspire life-long learners empowered to excel in American Higher Education and the global community as productive, compassionate citizens. 23. Kuwait Bilingual School (KBS) was established in 1998 as the first bilingual school in al jahra city in Kuwait and is still today the only institution of its kind in that city. KBS is a non-profit bilingual educational institution, which currently has a school population of students from kg1 to grade 12. The policy allows for 25 students per class. Kuwait Bilingual School became an authorized IB World School in June 2013 offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP). IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education—that we believe is important for our students. Kuwait Bilingual School has been officially accepted as a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB-MYP). This means that KBS is pursuing authorization as an IB-MYP world school. These are the schools that share a common philosophy, a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that KBS believes is important for our students. Students in the 21st century are faced with the challenge of learning about an interconnected world where knowledge is constantly developing. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme prepares students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), for students aged 3 to 12, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. At the heart of the program's philosophy is a commitment to the structured, purposeful inquiry as to the leading vehicle for learning. These themes are about issues that have meaning for and are important too, all of us. The program offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas and learning beyond them. The six themes of global significance create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to "step up" beyond the confines of learning within subject areas. The six transdisciplinary themes help teachers to develop a program of inquiries–in-depth investigations into important ideas, identified by the teachers, and requiring a high level of involvement on the part of the students. These inquiries are substantial, in-depth, and usually last for several weeks. Assessment is an important part of each unit of inquiry as it both enhances learning and provides opportunities for students to reflect on what they know, understand, and can do. The teacher's feedback to the students provides the guidance, the tools, and the incentive for them to become more competent, more skillful, and better at understanding how to learn. Currently, at KBS we are working on improving the guidance curriculum that consists of structured developmental lessons. We hope that the school's counseling curriculum provides students with a better understanding of the scope and sequence related to counseling topics. The guidance counselor visits classes and works with the teacher to either provide instruction, the team teaches, or assist in teaching counseling-related topics connected to the class's unit of inquiry. The IB goal is to provide students with the values and opportunities that will enable them to develop sound judgments, make wise choices and respect others in the global community. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) is a purpose-built five-year program (Grades 6-10, ages 11-16) for international schools and is now being taught and implemented worldwide, with considerable growth in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The IB MYP is geared to meet the needs of IB World Schools, as well as other school systems. It builds upon skills and units of inquiry learning developed in the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). IB PYP teaching and learning “focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside” (IB). The IB MYP also relies on connecting classroom pedagogical practices and content to the world outside through the Global Contexts and the Learner Profile. The IB MYP is followed by the IB Diploma Programme which is internationally-recognized, university-entrance qualification for students studying outside of their home country. Is the person trained and qualified to help students solve problems and facilitate their understanding themselves as well as understanding their strengths and weaknesses until the child can reach the maximum degree of growth allowed by their abilities in all aspects ( psychological - social - academic and family ). The students are still in childhood stages and therefore have developmental characteristics that differ from the rest of the individuals. The counseling of children during the basic stage is responsible for helping the child to achieve healthy growth and integrated compatibility. The educational counselor acts as a bridge between the student, the teacher, and the family this comes only through good relations with the three parties. View full school
