- "The purpose of the foundation is the establishment and operation of private kindergarten and primary schools in the Canton of Zurich where the teaching is bilingual German-English. The foundation aims to cultivate, through educational and school measures, tolerance and understanding of foreign languages and other cultures in children." Important for the children! A school where children stand in the center. A school that perceives you as you are gives you a positive feeling of self-confidence and trust in yourself while making learning a worthwhile experience. You share the day school’s small world with both young and old children: when eating, on the playground, at assemblies, and on many cross-class projects and school festivals. The teaching and support team are interested in you and share this world with you. Fair rules give us all help and security so that we are mutually respectful, tolerant, and generous with each other. If there are disagreements, we look for solutions together. We are positive we will find one! A bilingual school that doesn’t stand still and is interested in open communication. The Lakeside School possesses a clearly defined concept while remaining religiously neutral and is therefore not bound by any particular ideology. Due to this, we have a broad outlook and time to reflect and exchange ideas. Anyone interested in the fascinating model of the school finds an open ear with us. The school management and teaching staff are involved in a constant learning process themselves and are happy to consider the personal viewpoints of parents and children. As a result of their training, expertise, and experience they can competently advise on how best to support the individual child. This commitment of getting to know and fostering each individual is very fulfilling and infectious. Due to the staff’s professionalism, children will increase their skills, knowledge, and social competence. Important for the children: topics are taught that engage and challenge you making you think, research, and contribute your ideas. You and all your senses are challenged and all this in a bilingual environment. This lets you immerse yourself in the languages naturally. A whole world will open up to you. View full school

- Today's Lakeside School is the result of two separate schools: St. Nicholas, a school for girls, was founded in 1910 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Moran-Lakeside, a school for boys on the shores of Lake Washington, was founded in 1919. The two institutions merged in 1971, leading to rapid evolution and Lakeside School taking its place as one of the region's top independent schools. The mission of Lakeside School is to develop in intellectually capable young people the creative minds, healthy bodies, and ethical spirits needed to contribute wisdom, compassion, and leadership to a global society. We provide a rigorous and dynamic academic program through which effective educators lead students to take responsibility for learning. We are committed to sustaining a school in which individuals representing diverse cultures and experiences instruct one another in the meaning and value of community and the joy and importance of lifelong learning. The Lakeside School mission informs everything we do as a community to nurture our students a love of learning, caring for others, and understanding the importance and joy of living a life of integrity. Our students are scholars, athletes, artists, musicians, community service volunteers, fundraisers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and much more. They are curious, active, and engaged. They appreciate excellence in whatever they do and are committed to their learning. Eighty percent of them play at least one season of a varsity sport, and just as many participate in our arts programs and community service programs long after fulfilling their arts and service requirements! Working in small, collaborative classes, our teachers help students learn how to think, write, and speak thoughtfully about topics that range from globalism, artificial intelligence, and game theory in the Upper School to climate change, identity development, and multicultural mythological systems in the Middle School. We believe that academic excellence and diversity go hand in hand. Students here find peers from every background and every walk of life in every classroom. We recognize and celebrate the unique talents that each student brings, and we want the broadest possible range of perspectives represented in every discussion. We are also committed to providing a level playing field for students enrolled in the school and making all school services such as tutoring, access to technology, and global travel equally available to all students regardless of ability to pay. Lakeside School has been engaged in diversity work for over a half-century, and our mission articulates our commitment to sustain a school in which "individuals representing diverse cultures and experiences instruct one another in the meaning and value of community." We recognize diversity alone does not lead to inclusion, and we take active steps to create an environment in which the identities and cultural backgrounds of our families, students, and employees are valued and respected. We believe that diversity is essential to achieving educational and academic excellence and that students' learning experiences are enriched by the diversity of the curriculum, faculty, and student body. Lakeside is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable community in which all individuals can participate in and contribute to the school's life, regardless of race, gender, class, religion, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their identity. We actively work to understand the difference and how we honor it in our daily lives at school.
