  3. Parker provides our students, and our society, with a specific, invaluable and sustainable resource: Educated people who identify themselves as creative citizens capable of thinking for themselves and listening to others—especially to those who with whom they may disagree—in ways that inspire them to apply their idealism in pragmatic ways as they think critically and act collaboratively to solve problems facing our world. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make. Parker's passion for education emanates from our desire to know all students and guide them in their learning and development to become authentic, compelling, responsible, and empathic citizens and leaders in our democracy and the wider world. At Parker, we affirm each person's dignity and inspire all to learn and grow to make a difference in the world. Our teachers are attuned to how each student learns to grow in character, talent, and confidence as knowledgeable, skilled, and creative problem-solvers to uphold this mission. By knowing who our students are—and with an emerging sense of whom they aspire to be—and by mentoring them through their development, our teachers curate a culture where curiosity and respect for oneself and others drive inquiry and joy, resilience, and optimism shape student experience. From the earliest ages, Parker students learn with others and gain real-world, practical experience speaking in public, finding their voice, learning how to listen attentively to others, reflecting on what they are learning, and working collaboratively in groups, all skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Our engaging progressive approach to teaching and learning provides all students with the quantitative, interpretive, analytic, and artistic experiences that allow them to acquire the skills that will help them develop their interests and apply what they are learning in ways that benefit the broader community of which they are a valued part. At Parker, we are confident that our democracy will continue to need citizens and leaders who have the intellectual, social, and emotional dispositions to think for themselves, hear other perspectives, ground their views in facts, maintain patience in the face of complexity and ambiguity and act on their convictions to provide insight, understanding and empathic, courageous leadership in addressing the pressing challenges of our times. Our democracy is diverse, and because excellent problem-solving results from including a diversity of perspectives, a Parker education is grounded in our commitment to composing the school with people who have different backgrounds, cultures, stories, beliefs, and identities and in our strategies to provide equitable access for all students to the richness of our educational opportunities. It is essential that all students feel included in their classroom learning and develop a genuine sense of belonging to their school community. Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage, and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community. We treasure the respectful ways students, teachers, staff, parents, and alumni come to know one another through their work and studies, empowering each individual and our community with hope and possibility. We understand how history, culture, and society shape our individual and shared experiences. We appreciate how our unique identities develop through our relationships with others, our own inner lives, surroundings, and the world of ideas. Our school nurtures authenticity and trust as we inspire each student to be a creative citizen, capable and dedicated to upholding Parker's mission. We are deliberately composed of a diverse group of people committed to equity and inclusion throughout the school. We create learning experiences through curriculum and pedagogy that resonate with the many different identities that our community comprises, making us useful citizens who honor every human being's dignity. We are an intimate and expansive school that affirms the ways students can flourish when they feel known, appreciated, and supported by equitable access to the fullness of a Parker education. Our school thrives when we each can acquire and contribute to the creation of new knowledge and skills, explore our imaginations and different perspectives, share whom we are becoming, and expect to be treated with respect and kindness when expressing our ideas, famous or not, while also learning to confront behaviors that oppress, exclude or demean the humanity of others. We pursue educational excellence by cultivating creative problem-solving through vigorous effort so all can experience joy in learning and come to understand how individual and collective labor can improve society. We grow in intellectual, emotional, physical, aesthetic, and moral life through our attuned approaches to responsive teaching and mentoring. We learn from one another as we participate fully in spirited, rigorous, reflective, and ethical engagement in all areas of study and activity, curricular, and extracurricular. We seek purpose, meaning, and impact through the content and methods that inform our learning and teaching. Our academic and artistic standards for interdisciplinary inquiry flow from classroom learning to life throughout the school and beyond. View full school

  5. "Foxcroft is an incredibly supportive environment where girls celebrate one another's successes and encourage one another in difficult times. It's truly remarkable." Our tradition of academic excellence and opportunity for women has been firmly established for more than 100 years. Yet, our mission to help each girl explore her unique voice and develop the skills, confidence, and courage to share it with the world has never been more relevant. Here, girls enjoy unique learning experiences in and out of the classroom, supported by expert faculty who know and value each individual. Our students live in a supportive residential community situated on 500 beautiful acres in Virginia's countryside and form lifelong friendships with girls from across the United States and the world. Whether you are passionate about science and technology, have a dramatic flair for stage performance, or ride horses as a competitive sport, Foxcroft's many offerings promote deep learning that comes from real-world experiences, challenging work, and much fun! Our learning goals and instructional practices are designed to support how girls learn best, with an interdisciplinary, collaborative, and experiential curriculum. When they graduate, girls join a network of more than 3,000 alumnae around the globe. Foxcroft is a community built on trust. A Foxcroft girl is respectful to others, and their property dedicates herself to her academic pursuits and models the School's expectations both on and off school grounds. Every student in the Foxcroft community is expected to be honest in her academic work and interactions with community members. Lying, cheating, or stealing, including plagiarism and the use of any false identities, violates our honor code, is considered prohibited conduct, and will result in disciplinary action. Foxcroft's academic program challenges you to develop the analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills you need and your own creative, confident, and independent voice as well. Terrific teachers want you to succeed, design hands-on, interdisciplinary lessons, and group projects with real-world value. In response to our rapidly changing world, the all-girls prep school faculty continually examines course offerings and teaching methods to prepare you for college, career, and anything else the 21st century may bring! Foxcroft's comprehensive program also offers 76 courses, including 16 APs — in six disciplines and opportunities for independent study, additional courses online through One Schoolhouse, and a distinct humanities track for non-native English speakers. The multi-faceted STEM initiative, which informs all math and science curricula, gives you an advantage in crucial fields typically underrepresented by women, and required seminars in Digital Literacy, Wellness, and Financial Literacy to address essential personal skills. 6. Located in the Rocky Mountain West, Fountain Valley School of Colorado offers a college-preparatory, boarding, and day school program for motivated students within a close-knit and supportive community. The generous Colorado landscape of open prairie and snow-capped mountains is a continual source of personal inspiration, as well as a reminder of the opportunities and responsibilities that lie beyond the School’s boundaries. As you and your family explore Fountain Valley School of Colorado, you will discover an educational community that is both traditional and progressive, that takes full advantage of its location in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and yet embraces a global perspective. Most importantly, you will discover a community of adults and students who live, work, and learn by the core values identified by our first headmaster, Francis Froelicher: courage, open-mindedness, self-reliance, curiosity, and compassion. Francis Froelicher, the School’s founding headmaster, believed that Fountain Valley School should prepare students “to write their history.” To empower them to do so, the School seeks to nurture all students in their pursuit of excellence and strives to develop in all students the following core values: To embrace challenge intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually as a pathway to insight and self-understanding to stretch and see beyond one’s perceived boundaries To be aware of the richness and depth of all human experience To be responsible for exhibiting initiative and accountability, working independently and collaboratively To value lifelong pleasure in intellectual exploration and discovery to receive the consequent satisfaction of achievement and excellence through focused, creative effort To demonstrate care and service to others, and to live a balanced and healthy life, enjoying the harmony of work and play Fountain Valley School of Colorado provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics, and the outdoors in a diverse community to develop young adults who are courageous, open-minded, self-reliant, curious, and compassionate. Academics at Fountain Valley School of Colorado are challenging and comprehensive, offering honors and Advanced Placement courses in all disciplines while providing a flexible approach to assure appropriate course placement for all students. The curriculum is designed to stimulate curiosity, encourage critical-thinking skills, develop intellectual stamina, and prepare students for the finest colleges and universities in the United States and abroad. At FVS, we believe it is essential to embrace the world beyond our campus, borders, and mindset. To prepare students to thrive in this diverse world, we offer both formal and informal global opportunities ranging from a sequenced Global Scholar program to living with an international student or working on a service project with a local immigrant community. Our goal is to move beyond mere tolerance of diversity to genuine engagement as school and world citizens. Moments big and small add up to a transformative total. Students learn about themselves daily through academics, athletics, the arts, and extracurriculars—through the relations they build with faculty who are also their advisers, coaches, and houseparents—through a close-knit community that cheers on those who try something new—through the lifelong friendships formed here—through abundant leadership opportunities—and through a culture that motivates students to reach their full potential. 7. At FCDS, we know that students succeed in life when they are fully prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead. That is why Forsyth education provides a balanced experience that focuses on academics that enrich and interests that engage. With small classes, invested teachers, and a collaborative community, your child benefits from a supportive and inspiring educational experience. When your child enrolls at Forsyth Country Day School, it is the beginning of a rich and varied journey. One that will see joy, inspiration, victories, and challenges. These elements all combine to lay the groundwork for a rewarding future every moment of every day. And it starts with the kind of education that genuinely defines Forsyth. It is education beyond learning, a vibrant fusion of many different experiences that embrace all the formative elements of a young life. We believe that a truly excellent education integrates opportunities to explore various interests while developing a strong academic base. It is this combination of passion and purpose that creates children who are eager to learn. Our students explore coursework in all subject areas as a means of educating their minds and spirits more fully. Our students create an environment where they want to challenge themselves and one another athletically, artistically … and academically. We believe that technology plays a role in all stages of our lives. At FCDS, technology supports the curriculum and is used to create authentic learning environments where students use appropriate tools to support their classwork. Technology is integrated into the curriculum at all levels through Chromebooks, Smartboards, and iPads, coupled with productive and enriching experiences using the latest Web 2.0 applications, iPad educational apps, and interactive lessons. The Upper School offers classes in interactive programming, web design, and AP Computer Science. These courses teach logic and problem solving while also discussing graphics, media types, computer networking, digital storage, hardware, and much more. Students are introduced to elements of the computer sciences in our programming classes while creating challenging simulations and games. AP Computer Science discusses object-oriented programming while learning the Java programming language. The Middle School offers technology courses in fifth and sixth grades where keyboarding, 3D design and fabrication skills, programming, and productivity tools play an essential role. The seventh and eighth grades offer an elective course called Digital Design and Programming that further explores programming and design prototyping in the Middle School maker space. Technology affects every corner of the world in which we live, and having a base knowledge of the necessary skills will prove useful to our students today and tomorrow. Our educational experience integrates opportunities to explore a variety of interests while developing a strong academic base. Each child enjoys a balanced experience that sets him or her on a path to life-long learning. View full school
  8. As you do your research, pay particular attention to the School's distinctions. We are one of only 50 Malone Scholars schools in the country (the only school in Texas). We are as proud to host a long-standing chapter of the Breakthrough Collaborative (a phenomenal national organization providing motivated students from public schools an opportunity for enriched academic experiences) as we are to be a founding member of the nation's only synchronous (live, not recorded) online learning program for high schools (through the Malone Schools Online Network and Stanford University). We provide the finest of athletics and fine arts opportunities to our students, including a celebrated ballet program that begins in fourth-grade and 23 varsity sports. Our commitment to learning through community service is part of whom we are as a school, with all divisions engaging in service-related programs. We also engage learners outside our community through the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP), which brings high-achieving students to our campus twice a year for special Academic Adventures workshops. All of this happens on a truly stunning 104-acre campus. While giving you lots of insights on our School, a website can only go so far. The magic happens when you go from being online to in-person. When you are in the audience to see Seussical or to watch students wrangle steers in our time-honored Kindergarten Rodeo when you talk to an eighth-grader about hiking the South Rim Trail during his Big Bend Trip when you get a front-row view of a hard-fought field hockey game, and, mostly, when you meet FWCD faculty and students in person, then you start to know our School and our community. We are eager to share our story with you in person. The mission of Fort Worth Country Day School is to foster the intellectual, physical, emotional, and ethical development of capable students through an academically rigorous college preparatory program that integrates the arts and athletics. The purpose of Fort Worth Country Day is to inspire the passion to learn, the courage to lead, and the commitment to serve. Fort Worth Country Day School offers an advanced curriculum, comprehensive in its emphasis on the humanities, sciences, arts, and athletics. The School values diversity in its community and encourages openness of thought and freedom of inquiry. Through its program, the School seeks to develop enthusiastic, thinking, well-rounded, and responsible citizens equipped for college and life success. The School sees education as both a personal journey requiring guidance and a systematic process built upon knowledge, experience, and hard work. Collectively, these components promote understanding, imagination, and reason. The purpose, mission, and core values of Fort Worth Country Day unify the school community and guide everyday decisions and institutional policies. The School has high expectations for student achievement, parent support, and teacher performance. Success requires the community to work together with trust and confidence. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child and your family. We are delighted to help you learn more about our School. Families who come to Fort Worth Country Day say there is an indescribable feeling you get once you step on campus and enter your first classroom. Maybe it is our diverse and welcoming community. Maybe it is our challenging and well-rounded curriculum that will encourage your child to make the most of their skills and talents as they find their passions inside and outside the classroom. FWCD students thrive in our challenging yet supportive environment. We recognize that our students will enter into a broader community where it is vital to understand the world on global terms, to be able to communicate with others within that world, and to understand the cultural lenses through which others view their world. Each of the three divisions - Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School - present a program and facility uniquely designed to meet our students' developmental needs. All students share many parts of the School - the libraries, arts facilities, cafeteria, gymnasiums, playing fields, and grounds. Students of all ages greet each other on the shaded walks, in the Art Studio, or the Moncrief Library and Technology Center. Older students are tutors and mentors for younger students. Shared traditions, such as a school uniform, give a sense of belonging. View full school
  9. Founded in 1841, Fordham Prep is a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school for boys. Our curriculum is designed to help students discover and hone their abilities. Ultimately, our graduates learn to question to pray, love, serve and lead both in college and beyond. Fordham Preparatory School is a Catholic, all-male, Jesuit, college preparatory school. Our commitment to education is shaped by the spirituality and pedagogical tradition of the Society of Jesus, founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola. Fordham Prep stresses the development of excellence in the whole person: intellectual, religious, social, emotional, and physical. Today, our educational apostolate is strengthened by our affiliation with the local, national, and international Jesuit secondary schools' networks. At the heart of Jesuit education are the rigorous study of the humanities and the sciences, reflecting the conviction that the study of great ideas is inextricably linked to character formation. Our program of studies encompasses more than the acquisition of knowledge. It fosters academic discipline and encourages reflection in the pursuit of excellence. Fordham Prep's curriculum is designed to help students discover and hone individual talents and abilities. It encompasses more than the acquisition of knowledge. However, it demands the training of the intellect. It exposes students to their strengths and those courses and areas that will challenge them and provides students with time for extra help and consultation with the faculty: every teacher. Our honors program allows each student to craft a personal curriculum. As a Catholic, all-male, Jesuit, college preparatory school, Fordham Prep's mission is to inspire young men to reflect, question, learn, pray, love, serve, and lead. Since 1841, we have based our challenging curriculum and pursuit of human and academic excellence on a foundation of Catholic faith and principles. We seek to be one community created from a broad spectrum of ethnic, racial, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We strive to include qualified students with limited financial resources by providing substantial financial assistance. Our faculty and staff dedicate themselves to a caring and dynamic interaction with students both inside and outside the classroom, a characteristic of Jesuit education for over 450 years. We educate our students to be men for others: spiritually motivated, intellectually accomplished, and committed to promoting justice. Fordham Prep admits students of any religion, race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students. It does not discriminate based on religion, race, color, national or ethnic origin in administering its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship or financial aid policies, or athletic or other school-administered programs. The Fordham Prep experience focuses on Faith, Scholarship, and Service. Outside of the classroom, our students have the opportunity to take advantage of unique clubs and activities, one of the most successful athletic programs in New York State, and travel the world. Because of our rigorous academic coursework and challenging and engaging co-curricular programs, Fordham Prep graduates are prepared to attend the best colleges in the country and the world. On average, 60% of Fordham Prep graduates matriculate to colleges rated as "Most Competitive" or "Highly Competitive" as rated by Barron's Profile in American Colleges. Fordham Prep's curriculum is designed to discover and hone individual talents and abilities, encompass more than the acquisition of knowledge, but demand the training of the intellect, expose students not only to their strengths but also to those courses and areas that will challenge them, and provide faculty for extra help and consultation: every teacher, every day. Forman School

Learn the who, what, when, and were of the nation's first and best-coed college preparatory school for students with learning differences. We are 236 bright and motivated students with learning differences and 68 faculty and staff trained to equip them for college. Our namesake is our founder, John Forman, one of the first educators to apply research-based methodologies to teaching students who learn differently. Our Head of School is Adam Man, an experienced educator and a parent of a Forman School alumnus. Forman opened in 1930. Samuel Orton, who pioneered the study of dyslexia, was on the board. So was physicist Albert Einstein. He may have struggled with reading and was dyslexic, but that did not impede his genius's expression. John Forman engaged these leading minds because he was passionate about providing a transformative education to students who learn differently. We still live his mission, applying expert insights to everything we do. We are located on a classic New England prep school campus in Litchfield, Connecticut, that attracts local day students and boarding students from more than 25 states and ten countries. Our facilities for academics, athletics, the arts, and social life are state-of-the-art. Boston and New York City are around 2.5 hours away by car. Please read all about boarding life or take a tour of our campus map. Forman is a place where every student is known well, where the connection amongst students and faculty feels like family, where big dreams and aspirations are fulfilled, and where we care deeply about every student's success and excellence. Forman holds to the rich traditions of a college preparatory boarding school while also providing an innovative and dynamic academic program designed to bring out the best in each student. We aim to ignite the curiosity of learning in each student, help them improve in areas of weakness, and shine in strength and interest areas. View full school

Easily accessible from the nearby areas of Newcastle, Sammamish, Kirkland, Redmond, Renton & Woodinville, we're proud to welcome students from the Greater Seattle area and from around Western Washington. Forest Ridge graduates women who change the world. Our Mission tells the world why we exist today. Our Vision describes where our leadership wants to take our school tomorrow. Both statements are fundamentally crucial to our planning. Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart educates young women to think critically, embrace challenges, model resilience, confront injustice, seek equality, and lead globally in the pioneering spirit of our foundress. Our alumnae change the world. Our Vision is uncompromising excellence in educating girls in the Sacred Heart tradition. In keeping with St. Madeleine Sophie Barat's Vision for excellence in educating girls since 1800, Forest Ridge offers a program grounded in our rich Catholic tradition. We provide our young women the courageous leadership skills necessary to act with compassion and conviction in embracing the challenges of a diverse global society. Our alumnae respond generously to their local and global communities' needs and embrace their responsibilities to serve morally and ethically. St. Madeleine Sophie once said, "In this struggle concerning education, the Heart of Jesus asks us not for our blood, but our minds. We must strengthen our studies by intellectual work." Inspired by her words, our school's great strength is the expertise and dedication of our faculty and staff. Student-focused, passionate, and innovating, they continually apply best practices and new thinking in Teaching and Learning to open each student's mind in anticipation of the world they willfully join after graduation. As both a Microsoft School and Microsoft Showcase School, we host educators and Education leaders worldwide seeking insights into Forest Ridge's successes in integrating Technology across curricula. Our student's opportunities to work with Technology directly are diverse and evolving. Every day, students of all grade levels experience project-based learning, whether programming two NAO Humanoid Robots, learning to code in one of our Coding courses, or experimenting with 3D printers and laser engravers in our Maker Space. Utilizing our new Digital Media Lab, students can also immerse themselves in groundbreaking hardware and software. For example, students can pursue their creative passions with state of the art Microsoft Surface Studio devices for digital graphic design or discover the world of 3D interaction with the unique zSpace 3D computer. For a change of pace with more traditional technologies, students can dabble in video creation, green-screen capture, or audio projects utilizing a full complement of digital video cameras, microphones, and editing tools. Forest Ridge remains an active pioneer in Technology, and this spirit of innovation shines inside each of our classrooms, throughout our learning spaces, and across our campus. View full school

  13. We are sponsored by the Dominican Friars (Order of Preachers) from the Province of St. Albert the Great. Our inspiration comes from the preaching of Saint Dominic, the teaching of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the leadership of Saint Catherine of Siena, the collaborative service of Saint Martin de Porres, and Saint Rose of Lima artistry of Blessed Fra Angelico. Since Fenwick's founding in 1929, we have equipped young people with the tools necessary for successful, meaningful, and faith-filled lives. In this, we continue to rely on a dedicated and highly credentialed faculty—men and women, lay and religious—committed to forming the next generation of society's leaders. Fenwick High School, guided by Dominican Catholic values, inspires excellence and educates each student to lead, achieve, and serve. Inspired by its Dominican Catholic heritage, Fenwick High School will continue to be a premier college preparatory high school. We empower our students to grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically in a disciplined and diverse environment. Through this transformational experience, our graduates continue the Fenwick tradition of excellence and serve as compassionate leaders, committed to justice and peace in a changing global society. With Saint Dominic as their guide, Dominican friars, sisters, nuns, and laity have valued and promoted the diversity found in the one human family while acknowledging that all people are called to the same eternal destiny in the Kingdom of God. As a Dominican institution, Fenwick High School continues the wonderful Dominican tradition of inclusion and welcome for the common good. This process is rooted in interaction with those of different backgrounds, cultures, and ways of life. Experiencing racial, gender, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic diversity enriches everyone involved in the educational enterprise. Fenwick commits to welcoming every student who would flourish by embracing our Dominican, Catholic, college preparatory curriculum. Fenwick pledges that no one will face discrimination based on race, gender, religion, culture, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. A Fenwick education will be marked by respect and inclusion. The Fenwick faculty and staff build on the family and the elementary school's work to prepare the student for the next step in a continuum that extends through college to vital membership within society. Our rigorous academics program considers more than just classroom lessons and tests. It considers and is designed to positively affect five areas of the students: the Person, the Believer, the Citizen, the Scholar, and the Athlete. These are Fenwick's Five Educational Goals. The Fenwick graduate should know the traditions, doctrines, and practices of the Catholic Church and continue to participate in the Church's sacramental life. The same would be expected of non-Catholic graduates concerning their traditions, having had the opportunity to reflect on their religious commitments and traditions against the background of the study of the Dominican Catholic tradition. This foundation will enable the graduate to sift ideas and beliefs for insights into truth and accept a personal relationship with God. The Fenwick graduate should demonstrate intellectual competence through critical thinking, careful listening, and effective written and oral communication. A Fenwick graduate should respect one's field of study and other fields of study and appreciate learning as a lifelong endeavor. Because of these skills and attitudes, the graduate should perform effectively in a career. View full school

  17. Flintridge Preparatory School was founded in 1933 as Flintridge School for Boys. In 1979, the school transitioned to coeducation, assuming its present configuration as a coed, nonsectarian day school with a middle school (7th and 8th grades) of 100 students and a high school of 400 students. Today's campus features state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and performing arts spaces, with a two-story library, inviting patios, fields, gym, and pool, yet keeps that sense of timelessness and intimacy and peaceful greenery that are hallmarks of our early years. Flintridge Prep values academics, excellent college counseling resources, service impact opportunities, sports, and arts. It's a tightly knit community, a network of intimate connections. Here, strong bonds are forged between student and student, student and teacher, study, and dreams. It's a place where students have nearly unlimited opportunities to discover and cultivate their creative and athletic gifts. In this cooperative and caring environment, we nurture critical thinking and intellectual curiosity to prepare students to embrace lifelong learning. The school bears a philosophical resemblance to the island of Shakespeare's The Tempest, and our teachers are not unlike the play's hero, Prospero. The latter provides the characters on the island with an opportunity to realize their learning potential. Just as the characters reach the end of the play, ready to leave the magical, sheltered island and enter the larger world with the island's lessons now a part of them, our graduates take Flintridge Prep with them. We are often described as a community that takes the form of a school. We provide a warm, nurturing learning environment with small class sizes and plenty of attention (the student-teacher ratio is 8:1, and the average class size is 15 students). Our students are excited to learn and grow. Whether they are interested in arts, athletics, or both, our program balances rigor with fun while encouraging students to discover their bold path to a balanced and responsible life. Our faculty is top-notch, talented, and dedicated, and includes teachers with terminal degrees, teaching artists, and teaching coaches and deans. Faculty satisfaction is that high tenure is long. We offer generous compensation packages for faculty, and our faculty take advantage of creative and fascinating professional development opportunities. We look for the best students who are intellectually curious, engaged, energetic, entrepreneurial, thoughtful, and kind. We give them the knowledge and critical skills, nurture their creativity, and guide their development as human beings, offering various co-curricular activities to complement our academics. We involve parents and alumni on and off-campus and encourage and appreciate their association with the school long after graduation. Our administration and trustees guide day-to-day and long term policy, balancing innovation and sustainability. Flintridge Preparatory School seeks to nurture its students the knowledge, critical skills, community values, and creativity essential for an engaged, balanced, and responsible life. Our Philosophy: We believe in a balanced approach to our students' full human development, promoting both academic achievement and creativity, social engagement and individuality, vibrant health, happiness, and responsibility. We believe students thrive in intimate and supportive settings when challenged to realize their full potential. Toward that end, we are committed to retaining, developing, and supporting outstanding and committed school faculty and administration. We believe students can make positive contributions to their classmates, school, and community through intellectual and social development, sportsmanship and character, and community engagement. We believe in encouraging creativity, risk-taking, and the development of a mature and self-confident personality. We believe in the essential value of diversity -- of people, talent, interests, passions, and engagements. Flintridge is a place for people who choose front row seats in the classroom. It is a place filled with people who raise their hands—where students thrive on answering questions, challenging their teachers' assertions, and their classmates' viewpoints. We love the student who approaches us outside of class to continue a discussion or debate. Whatever your passion, Flintridge is a great place to pursue it. We promise your time here will be busy, but we also know you will love your teachers and classmates. You will find none better, and you will never find people who care more about each other and for you. We look forward to seeing you grow here with us. View full school
  18. Our mission is to Forge Educated, Honorable Young Men of Courage. Founded in 1879 by Waynesboro Native and Washington College Graduate, Professor James A. Fishburne, Fishburne Military School is woven into the very fabric of Waynesboro and Shenandoah Valley history. For 140 years, FMS has been preparing young men for lives of leadership and service. At the school’s inception, Fishburne wrote: “It is his purpose to have here an institution which shall rank as first-class in everything that constitutes true worth, and from which shall go forth loyal, earnest, industrious boys and young men, well-equipped for the duties and responsibilities of life, and above all else, to maintain a high standard of honor and integrity in the Corps of Cadets.” Today, Fishburne Military School is a leader in the United States Army JROTC Cadet Command’s Fourth Brigade and, as an Honor Unit with Distinction, holds the privilege of nominating qualified cadets to any of the United States Service Academies. As an all-male college preparatory school and leadership training program, Fishburne Military School’s modern mission is to provide each cadet with a sound academic foundation, a healthy mental and physical environment, and leadership training to better understand the obligations of honor, citizenship, and self-discipline. Academic success increases as class sizes decrease. For that reason, Fishburne Military School limits enrollment to 175 young men, which translates to average class sizes of between 8 and 12. Small classes mean more one-on-one instruction, which we all know is the best way to learn. Fishburne also requires students to attend supervised study halls in the evening, guaranteeing that our cadets stay focused, on task, and caught up. View full school

One of the first notices published by the School stated: "It is the earnest endeavor of the teachers to lay a foundation for education in its broadest sense." This brief statement of purpose formed the basis of an educational philosophy that has remained consistent throughout the School's history: to provide the foundation for a meaningful life. This simple yet powerful concept has guided the School over time and remains at the heart of Fay's identity. We believe strongly in our foundational role. Our dedicated faculty are experts in equipping our students with the essential tools to facilitate their success in secondary School and beyond: strong academic skills, a spirit of inquiry, cross-cultural competence, creativity, poise, empathy, and grit. 20. Something happens between the time a 14-year-old boy enrolls and an 18-year-old young man graduates from Fairfield Prep. Of course, he has completed an outstanding, rigorous college preparatory education conducted in and out of the classroom. He has discovered new interests, debated ideas, grown in faith, played on a sports team, performed on stage and learned more about the world around him through an education steeped in values. But he also has gained a sense that looking outward — rather than focusing on himself — is the most important. At Prep, we call this idea "Men for Others." Rooted in our Jesuit Catholic tradition — and stretching back to the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola — we educate and challenge our boys to reach outside of themselves to learn about their community and their world through serving others. In the classroom and through athletics, in after-school activities and through service, Prep boys learn about themselves and God. Fairfield College Preparatory School is a Jesuit, Catholic School of excellence forming young men of intellectual competence, who possess the conscience to make wise decisions, a compassion for others, and a commitment to justice in our global society. Fairfield College Preparatory School strives to be a reflective community of faith, in which students revere their relationship with God and with one another. We are committed to graduating transformational leaders who will respond to global and ecological challenges in an interconnected world marked by profound change. For more than 75 years, thousands of boys have been transformed through their Prep education. And while our graduates are high achievers in terms of college acceptances, artistic performances, and athletic awards, our true mark of excellence is the proven quality of their leadership in society. We hope you and your family join in this tradition. Having a diverse student body is an integral part the Fairfield Prep mission in forming young men of intellectual competence. As a Catholic, Jesuit school of excellence, Prep seeks and supports a diverse stuent body through our SEED (Students for Educational Excellence through Diversity) program. Begun nearly three decades ago, SEED’s goal is to maximize the academic potential of each student. The program is primarily focused on providing support services for students from diverse backgrounds, including socio-economic, racial, cultural, religious and geographic. As Prep seeks to foster compassion and a commitment to justice in our students, we believe it is important to bring to the forefront the wide array of multicultural viewpoints so that we can develop young men who are equipped to thrive in an increasingly global world. Fairfield Prep believes in educating the whole person. As a college preparatory school, Prep seeks to transform young boys into men of intellectual competence. That means a rigorous, hands-on education where our students learn both inside and outside of the classroom. Boys read and write calculate and draw form opinions and then defend them. They're taught by faculty who love what they do and have chosen to do it in our all-boys high school. At an all-boys atmosphere, students find they can concentrate on their studies, without the distraction of social pressures. At Fairfield Prep, we believe in preparing our students for a digitally-focused 21st Century. That means allowing them to develop technological skills to help them succeed both at Prep and in their lives beyond Prep. In 2014, Prep launched a 1:1 iPad program that combined our classic, Jesuit education with the most up-to-date and advanced learning tools available. Today, our students utilize an array of software and online databases integrated with the iPad in every aspect of their Prep education — from learning in the classroom to reading texts to note-taking. Prep is a place that challenges boys to stretch, to reach outside themselves to learn about their community and their world through serving others. In the classroom and through athletics, in after-school activities and through service, boys learn about themselves and God. View full school

Episcopal schools are Christian communities whose missions integrate spiritual formation into all educational experience gracefully and inclusively. Even the most diverse Episcopal schools are created to be communities that honor, celebrate, and worship God as the center of life. We are created to be models of God's love and grace. We are created to serve God in Christ in all persons, regardless of origin, background, ability, or religion. We are created to "strive for justice and peace among all people and [to] respect the dignity of every human being." However, Episcopal schools have been established not solely as communities for Christians, like a parish church, but as diverse educational and human development institutions for people of all faiths and backgrounds. Episcopal schools are populated by various human beings from increasingly diverse religious, cultural, and economic backgrounds. By weaving the principles of meaningful school worship, rich community life, foundational religious education, and striving for social justice into the very fabric of the school's overall life, Episcopal schools ensure that we challenge all who attend our schools to build lives of genuine meaning, purpose, and service in the world they will inherit. Episcopal's mission focuses our program on five areas of growth: spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and artistic, with the end goal of developing young women and men of character who seek to live "purposeful lives." For more than 30 years, we have set the standard in helping students realize their promise. We do that by challenging you to see things in bold, new ways. Episcopal High School is an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, established to provide a superior education in preparation for college and meaningful life after that. Through a rich offering of academic, spiritual, artistic, and athletic programs, the School provides each student with an opportunity to reach their maximum spiritual, intellectual, social, and ethical potential. Operating as a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church, EHS in its teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding and responding to the individual needs and capabilities of each student. To reflect the community we serve, EHS strives to maintain a student body representing social, economic, ethnic, and academic diversity. Like all family systems, EHS has established those guidelines and boundaries necessary to preserve order, enhance general welfare, and protect individuals and the community. All students are expected to exercise sound judgment in their actions and to show an abiding concern for themselves, groups, and the community itself. Students must value the privilege of being associated with EHS. Parents, too, need to be vigilant, cooperative, and eager to honor and assist the School’s efforts, endeavors, and spirit. Recognizing that “attitude is everything” is a useful guideline to honoring the School community and its decision-making process. Respect and personal honor, reflected in daily attitudes and behaviors, are expected of those who belong to, serve, and support genuine community: EHS will continue to provide a healthy, spiritually based, college-preparatory education for the average-to-exceptional student. EHS derives its identity from being a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church. Furthermore, without compromising its underlying faith, traditions, and practices, the School acknowledges and respects the freedom and variety of religious experiences among its faculty, staff, and students. EHS emphasizes the development of sound character, integrity, and personal honor; consequently, in every aspect of a student’s experience, EHS will instill honesty, respect for self and others, fair play, and appreciation of diversity, and service to the community. EHS admits qualified and motivated college-bound students with average-to-exceptional abilities and a wide range of interests and activities, creating a diverse community of students admitted without regard to race, religion, or social/economic background. The student body must be large enough to ensure the School’s program's viability, but not so large that the School’s family atmosphere is diminished. EHS will recruit, sustain, and appropriately compensate an administration and faculty of the highest academic and moral standards committed to the School’s mission and students' education and nurturing. As a shared responsibility, education succeeds when both School and parents exhibit an understanding of, respect for, and dedication to the individual, the family, and the School community. EHS will cultivate with its students and their families a relationship that will last the rest of their lives. The successful accomplishment of the School’s mission requires facilities appropriate for the School’s activities. By adopting sound policies, providing a robust financial base, and promoting the School on the broader community, the Board of Trustees assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that EHS accomplishes its mission. Every Knight is full of brainpower and creative energy. We help our students free it. How? Small, intense classes and state-of-the-art facilities, for starters. Plus, mind-opening courses: Through our Interim Term, students travel to experience Chinese culture first-hand, uncover the complexity of baseball statistics, and design their runway fashion shows. EHS teachers are experts at spotting talent, drawing out strengths, and pushing students to be fearless explorers. They challenge you to question, test, reimagine, and reinvent the world. Through a rich offering of over 180 courses across the Four Pillars, EHS helps students develop independence and self-direction, creative problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, persistence, and open-mindedness. Our goal is to equip students with skills and concepts to apply successfully in new situations, question assumptions, evaluate information, and make courageous decisions. Our arts programs teach students to see, experiment, invent, and imagine in ways that are an inherent part of the creative process. Academic classes in religion strengthen both the intellect and the spirit. A thoughtfully designed and varied curriculum in wellness and the many athletic offerings provide students with many opportunities to enhance their physical health. The faculty of 92 men and women, with over 60% holding advanced degrees, is committed to preparing EHS students for college and meaningful life after that. View full school
  24. Episcopal School of Acadiana is a private, coeducational day school for students in grades PreK-3 through 12. Our mission is to instill in every student the habits of scholarship and honor. The ESA Experience is much more significant than you could ever put into words. It is the feeling on the first day of school. It is the smell of sugarcane burning. It is the quiet walk to the chapel or the incredible run at morning practice, the one with the sun rising and the fog hovering over the dew-covered practice fields. It is the outdoor coffeehouse performance of an 8th grader playing a piece by Beethoven. It knows you have been prepared. Prepared for the woods, the interview, the choices you will be faced with in life. It is the hugs you are given or the tears you will shed. We all feel it. And that is permanent to anyone who has ever been a part of it. At ESA, we nurture the twin virtues of freedom and responsibility. We pursue these virtues in our school's daily life by balancing joy and challenge, inventiveness and tradition, respect and informality, trust, and support. We cultivate and celebrate this balance in our vibrant, eclectic community that prizes individual freedom and cooperation. We take responsibility for what we do and say and freely use our talents and strengths to become energetic citizens who sustain our community by making positive contributions. Habits of honor develop in our community, which expects the choice of right over wrong. Our code of honor promotes fairness, truth, and honesty; our commitment to honor affords the freedom necessary for responsibility and the confidence that ideas, ideals, and property are respected. Habits of scholarship develop from the relationship between passionate teachers and creative students. Fueled by the joy of discovery, self-motivated students exhibit an intellectual vitality that strengthens their beliefs yet inspires an open mind. Students develop intellectually in our nurturing environment, where they master skills and knowledge. Students are challenged to learn, think, and question critically. Students take intellectual risks, learn how to express and support their ideas, and are encouraged to defend their positions. Students experience the Episcopal traditions and liturgies, and they are supported in their search to discover a personal relationship with God. Spiritual development follows through sharing meaningful experiences and offering our leadership and talents at ESA and our service to the broader community. Students' physical development is grounded in our physical education curriculum that encourages lifelong health and physical activity. Every student acquires physical skills, learns the value of competition and teamwork, and cultivates sportsmanship ethos. Episcopal schools are bold and experimental places that try to hold on to what seem to be two contradictory goals: to live into their identity as schools that present the traditions and worship of the Episcopal Church in an unapologetic way but to be at the same time places of diversity and inclusion that honor the religious traditions of their students... While resting firm on its traditional understanding of Jesus and his mission, the Episcopal Church of today also holds that we can honor and learn from a variety of other religious and non-religious perspectives. So what do we do when it comes to religion at an Episcopal school? On the one hand, we demonstrate that the foundation of the Episcopal school's thirst for justice and all people's dignity comes from the great heritage of the Christian tradition that honors the life and work of Jesus. And yet, on the other hand, we invite all students to contemplate their spirituality more deeply and intentionally, no matter what religious tradition they adhere to. Experience is everything, and ESA's academic program proves it. From PK3 through 12th grade, our curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, hands-on learning, and critical thinking. Academics at ESA blend content and enrichment to encourage curiosity and inspire learning. Students are active participants, experiencing their education through challenge and exploration. With small classes, every student progresses. Enrichment clusters, electives, and independent studies allow students to learn with others who share their interests. Teachers who are passionate about the subjects they teach set the example for a lifetime of curiosity and growth. They share their love of learning with their students every day. Through place-based learning, students explore and face challenges that broaden their knowledge, teach them to work together, and give them the confidence to succeed. Teachers, advisors, grade-level deans, counselors, chaplains, academic support teachers, and coaches are available to help students navigate academic, social, and extracurricular challenges. On both the Lafayette and Cade campuses, teachers incorporate technology as one of the many tools contributing to learning. Through visual and performing arts, ESA students step into artists' shoes to learn the skills and establish the foundation for exploring their creativity. Our students in grades 3-8 are provided with their Chromebooks, and our students in grades 9-12 are part of our BYOD program. Additionally, we have a Discovery Lab for Early Childhood, Design Labs for Lower School and Middle School, and a Communication Studio for Middle and Upper School students. Our Exploratory Design Program focuses on design thinking and helps students empathize, design, create, revise, and produce. Our commitment is based on our understanding that technology will continue to be an integral part of educating every student. View full school
