- At King's Norton Boys' School we are proud to be a traditional school with a modern, aspirational approach to education. We provide our boys with a diverse range of opportunities, both academic and extra-curricular, to ensure that they can gain the highest academic results possible whilst at the same time developing all-important life skills. With over 100 years of history, our school has many great traditions that live on in our ethos today. Our motto: Humani Semper Contendimus, 'we humans are always striving', drives us in providing the highest quality of education for the boys we serve, as does our understanding that 'we are all learners. Our 'Strive' values of Self-discipline, Teamwork, Resilience, Initiative, Vision, Endeavour underpin the work of staff and students, as does our commitment to the fundamental human values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, tolerance, and kindness. Our Purpose is To provide the highest quality education which allows all of our students to thrive academically and personally. At King’s Norton Boys’ we: Provide a safe and secure environment where all individuals are valued. Deliver a broad and rich curriculum with stimulating learning experiences, which develops independent and aspirational learners. Equip our students with life-long and transferable skills to prepare them for the responsibilities and challenges of adult life. Develop kind and respectful citizens who have a strong sense of self-worth and emotional resilience. Cultivate in our students a strong sense of pride and belonging in our school and enable them to make a positive contribution to their community. Challenge and support all of our students so that they achieve success ensuring that none are limited by their background or circumstances. By 2022, King's Norton Boys' School is considered to be an outstanding school in all aspects. We are an extremely successful and highly respected school, embracing challenge and continuously improving in every regard always willing to share what we’ve learned and what we do with other schools. We have a reputation within our community for enabling our students to flourish both academically and personally. Places at our school are highly sought after by parents and students. Joining our staff team is an aspiration for teaching and support staff and we are highly regarded within the profession for our ability to develop future leaders. We continue to abide by our philosophy that ‘we are all learners, as we constantly strive to build upon our achievements. We are proud of the opportunities available to students at KNBS. Our curriculum is traditional, broad, and rigorous, and opportunities for students to thrive in our enrichment curriculum are plentiful. At KNBS every child has the opportunity to succeed, and every child is stretched and challenged for them to develop and then fulfill their potential. Recent examination results demonstrate the high standards of academic excellence for which we continue to strive. Also, we encourage boys to develop their talents in outdoor education, sports, music, and the arts. When boys leave KNBS, we want them to be well-rounded, confident individuals, with the skills needed to succeed in the next stage along their chosen path. We want them to have personal, social, and global awareness and understanding of both the opportunities and challenges presented by the world and the tools and confidence to embrace both as they encounter them. Our Personal, Social, and Health Education program includes careers education and a variety of important issues relevant to students at different stages of their development. The promotion of human values such as democracy, rule of law, and mutual respect, is at the core of our PSHE and Assembly programs.
- At King’s House School we recognize the importance of a broad curriculum. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum initially but extend well beyond its boundaries to provide the enrichment and challenge which will prepare pupils for Common Entrance and senior school scholarships at a pace and level appropriate to their needs. As a preparatory school, we recognize the responsibility we have, not only in educating each pupil but also in developing a love of learning and satisfaction in personal achievement. The approach in the classroom through the School is one of praise and encouragement. Recognition of achievement is in the form of House Points which are awarded in each Department and added to the House totals. Boys’ names are also added to the Gold Book or Distinctions List and are included in the weekly newsletter. In the Senior Department, half-termly grades are given for both effort and achievement and the end-of-term reports provide targets for future improvement. Throughout the School we have qualified Learning Support teachers who work closely with the classroom teachers and provide extra support for pupils as and when it is needed. Throughout their time at King’s House, the boys work hard and achieve high academic standards that set them up very well when they move on to their senior schools. There are regular Visitor Mornings when prospective parents and children may visit the Nursery, Junior and Senior Departments and meet the Head of School, Head of Junior Department, Head of Nursery and other members of staff. Girls and boys may start in the Nursery in the term of their 3rd birthday. We offer places in order of date of registration. Boys from the Nursery and those with brothers already at the School are given priority in our Reception classes and are expected to stay at King’s House until the end of Year 8 before moving on to their senior school. We are a mixed-ability school so we do not assess the boys before offering them places. When you register your child, he or she is put on the Waiting List for their age group. Nursery places are offered approximately 2 terms before entry. Reception places are offered about a year before entry. Around half our Reception intake is made up of boys coming from our Nursery. When you are offered a place you have to complete an Acceptance Contract and pay a committal fee which is returned to you when your child leaves King’s House, less any extras. We also have small in-takes at 7+, 8+ and 11+ into Years 3, 4, and 7 (up to about 6 places) boys wishing to enter at this stage are assessed in November or January before entry. They are tested in English and Mathematics, as well as being interviewed. Extra help is available for a child who may be initially slow to make progress or where they may encounter a specific difficulty, at no extra cost. If it is felt necessary they may be assessed by one of our learning support teachers who may, in turn, suggest that the child needs a full assessment by an educational psychologist. We can currently give boys up to two half-hour sessions, either individually or in small groups, to help with any diagnosed problems within our competence. An Individual Educational Programme is written for each boy receiving extra support and is agreed upon between the Learning Support teacher, the parent, and the child. We also aim to identify and provide for those who need extra extension work in any area. The youngest pupils at King’s House School have their building in Princes Road, just a stone’s throw from the Junior and Senior Departments on Kings Road. The Nursery Department is found in The Old School House, an attractive Victorian building with high ceilings and large open plan classrooms that provide the perfect environment for Early Years education. On the first floor, you will find the Caterpillar group (children aged 3 and rising 3) in their own homely, cozy, and welcoming room. The room is carefully planned and extensively resourced to provide an exciting environment where young children can use their imagination to create and discover. Staff is exceptionally caring and nurturing, understanding that for most children (and their parents) this is the first rung on the educational ladder. King’s House Junior Department offers its pupils a unique, caring, and stimulating environment in which all the boys are encouraged to reach their potential. It is housed in two Victorian buildings which have been sensitively extended and enhanced to provide a wonderful learning environment. Boys join the Junior Department when they are aged 4 and they start in Reception where they are gently introduced to the School routine whilst following the Early Years Foundation Stage. The boys are based in their classrooms with their teacher and assistant for most of the time but also have specialist teachers for French, Music, and PE. We aim to ensure a smooth transition from the Junior Department to the Senior Department, and the boys enjoy the challenge of starting in a new building and set-up. In reality, they already know the Senior Department well as they have been taught by a number of its teachers and had lessons in the music and sports facilities. We aim to continue offering the boys a broad range of experiences and a varied, challenging curriculum. There is also a wide range of activities – musical, sporting, and artistic – for the boys to choose from on the extra-curricular front. View full school

- We are a leading independent prep school with 420 boys and girls aged 4 - 13. We are large enough to provide a full range of options and facilities, but small enough to give a 'family feel' where the teachers can get to know all of the children. The school enjoys an excellent academic reputation, with a pleasing number of leavers winning scholarships to senior schools in various disciplines. Aims And Objectives To provide a broad, balanced, and well-rounded education for pupils To challenge pupils to develop their abilities, encouraging and promoting academic, musical, and sporting excellence, as well as allowing pupils to be involved in a variety of extracurricular activities To establish a firm foundation of skills, knowledge, and understanding, upon which, pupils build at senior school. Our schemes of work are influenced by the National Curriculum, as well as the requirements of Common Entrance and various senior school entrance and scholarship assessments. While external examination success is an ultimate goal, we believe that this is not the only measure of success and throughout their lives at King’s, children are encouraged to develop a sense of achievement and enjoyment in all spheres of education. Based on a historic foundation of musical excellence, King’s College School is a flexible and inclusive academic environment. We are a caring, family-based community in which all children are respected and valued. We prepare them, as individuals, to be confident in a future with exceptional possibilities. King’s College School is a leading Preparatory and Choir School. The curriculum is constantly kept under review. The Heads of Departments annually update and review Departmental Policies as well as Programmes of Study and Schemes of Work. This is reviewed and monitored by the Deputy Head Academic. Underlying our curriculum is a principle of fulfillment and King’s is by reputation a happy and relaxed school with a strong work ethic. Some key elements in the education provided at King’s are: A sound grasp of numeracy and the application of Mathematics A sound ability in literacy – and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Enough familiarity with computers and other technology to retrieve and use information easily A thorough grounding in literature and the social sciences Knowledge of the physical sciences and the world environment Mastery of at least one modern foreign language and one ancient language An appreciation of the cultural heritage of Britain and Europe Concern for physical health A basic understanding of moral education, citizenship, and the law Responsibility for the environment The ability to identify problems and to work creatively towards solutions View full school

- We are a forward-thinking and innovative place in which to learn. As well as being a very successful International Baccalaureate school, we offer pupils the opportunity to study from a wide A level curriculum. For many years we have enjoyed genuinely two-way partnerships with local maintained secondary and primary schools. We admit girls into our sixth form, convinced that co-education in the two years preceding university is a natural and positive step for boys and girls alike. We accept boys at the age of 11 directly into year 7 of the senior school from both primary and prep schools, whilst retaining our year 9 entry for boys aged 13 from prep schools and our junior school. At King's, our priority is to provide a world-class education to each student. Our strategy is designed to further enhance the education we offer - to provide an environment that will inspire and enable our students, teachers, and the wider community and to widen access to the education we provide, offering new opportunities and creating a genuinely diverse student body. King’s College School is committed to broadening access by offering to eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support with the payment of school fees. The school offers several entrance bursaries at 11+, 13+ and sixth form of up to 100% of tuition fees. All bursary applications are subject to annual means testing and may be varied upwards or downwards depending on parental circumstances and financial information provided on review. As part of the registration process, parents have the opportunity to request a bursary application form. If you would like to see an example of our application form, please use the link on the right. Please do not use this specimen form for your application. The school uses Bursary Administration Ltd to review and assess entrance bursary applications. This may include a home visit which, by necessity, will be at short notice. If your bursary assessment includes a home visit, Bursary Administration Ltd will contact you directly. Bursary application assessments are conducted independently of the academic selection process. No action regarding your bursary application should be considered as indicative as to whether an offer of a place in the school will be made. Co-curricular activities (CCAs) play a key role in a student's life at King’s this is reflected by our significant investment in music, sport, and drama facilities. The emphasis, as elsewhere at King’s, is on variety, inclusion, and encouragement. King’s has a long history of enabling bright young people from all backgrounds to access the school. We are now making increasing provision for bursaries, both from our resources and as a result of the generosity of our benefactors. We offer bursaries at 11+, 13+ and 16+ of up to 100% of tuition fees, depending on need. Parents should always make their initial application in advance of any entrance examination. The Club aims to offer the best possible facilities for competitive prices and is a popular choice for not just King’s students but also the local community. The facilities include a swimming pool, strength & conditioning studio, tennis courts, squash courts, and a yoga & pilates studio. Personal training, swimming lessons, and children’s sports parties are all available at the Club. Safeguarding at King’s is consistent with the safeguarding procedures for Merton and the London local Safeguarding Children Boards. Our latest Independent Schools Inspectorate report(ISI) confirmed that safeguarding at King’s is a major priority and that our policy and procedures are implemented effectively. The quality of teaching at King’s is outstanding, and colleagues know how important the first two years of secondary school are in establishing a love of learning, good habits of concentration, understanding, imaginative flexibility, and discipline. Lessons are fun, exhilarating, and purposeful, creating the best possible foundation for the GCSEs ahead. King’s was founded by royal charter in 1829 as the junior department of the newly established King’s College of the University of London on the Strand. During the early Victorian period, the school grew in numbers and reputation. Members of the teaching staff included artist John Sell Cotman and poet Gabriele Rossetti, who taught Italian (his son, the infamous Dante Gabriel, joined King’s in 1837). By 1843 King’s had grown in size from 85 to 500 pupils. The school was progressive in its curriculum and appointed its first science master in 1855, at a time where very few schools taught science. The first headmaster, John Major, served the school between 1831 and 1866. 99 of the school’s pupils from this period appear in the Dictionary of National Biography. As competitor schools moved to new sites with modern facilities and large playing fields, King’s fell behind, prompting the school to move to its present site in Wimbledon. The junior school opened on the same campus in 1912. In World War I, many letters were written to the school, including some from the Battle of the Somme. During World War II, the Great Hall was damaged by bomb shrapnel some of the damage can still be seen on the outside of the hall today. The school is completing a ten-year infrastructure master plan to enhance our facilities for pupils. Completed projects include a new reception through the Bannister Fletcher 1897 Great Hall, a new landscaped quadrangle, a refurbished and enlarged dining hall, and a new classroom block, which is home to our lower school (year 7 and ? pupils. In spring 2018, a new state-of-the-art music school was completed. The building includes a suite of sound-proofed practice rooms, group rehearsal venues, specialist classrooms, and a 200-seat concert hall. We are currently underway on our next project - a new sports complex and multi-use sports hall, including all-weather tennis courts and a six-lane swimming pool. View full school
- King's College London Mathematics School is run in partnership with King's College London University, to provide high-quality mathematics education in the heart of London. The school was inspired by the Kolmogorov Physics and Mathematics School in Moscow, established in 1965. Our curriculum combines mathematics with physics and computing to give students the key understanding and skills they will need to go on to study mathematical courses at universities. Our extended curriculum, which culminates in an extended individual research project, provides students with a broad understanding of the world around them as well as research, writing and presentation skills. Our lessons take students beyond the content required for examinations, and in doing so we cannot only achieve excellence in public examinations but also inspire students and prepare them effectively for university study and successful careers. Students take A levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics at the end of their second year, and an AS Level in either Computer Science or Economics at the end of the first year. Also, they have the option to complete an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification), equivalent to an AS in scope. The curriculum is broad and well balanced and includes personal development, weekly problem-solving sessions with Ph.D. students, an afternoon of extension and challenge each week, the option to attend a diverse range of clubs and societies, and a weekly opportunity for sport and exercise. King’s Maths School is for students with a particular aptitude and enthusiasm for mathematics and aims to widen participation in mathematical degrees and careers at the very best universities and institutions. We are a fully inclusive community that promotes equality and diversity and that is an exemplification of the Fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. We provide an education that: Is both engaging and challenging Inspires curiosity and motivates an interest in further study Equips students with a coherent understanding as well as a procedural fluency Empowers students by developing their thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills Provides students with a welcoming community in which they can feel at home and develop outstanding collaborative skills Enables students to make informed decisions about their futures and effectively supports them to realize their ambitions Enables the progress of every student. At King’s Maths School, you will learn to think rigorously and precisely, but also creatively, to solve problems. You will learn to construct arguments and to justify them confidently. Mathematicians are the world’s greatest problem solvers, and you will join their ranks. Mathematical developments have underpinned the technological and information revolutions that have transformed the modern world, and yet the subject is far more than simply a valuable tool for scientists, engineers, and financial analysts: it is a beautiful, powerful, enriching, and immensely stimulating subject. Our vision is to make the world a better place. We will continue to focus on world-leading education, research, and service and will have an increasingly proactive role to play in a more interconnected, complex world. We will continue to expand the huge contribution King’s makes to London and through that a national contribution within the UK, and beyond that to an international community that serves the world. - King’s Bruton is a remarkable school with 500 years of history. We are blessed with a wonderful location in South Somerset. There are 350 pupils at King’s and the key to our success, and sustained popularity is to combine our relatively small size with a high-quality education. In recent years we have had outstanding GCSE, A-Level and BTEC result with the vast majority of our pupils going on to their first choice of university. Our hockey teams have reached 12 National Finals in the last seven years with our U16 girls winning the English Schools' National Indoor Hockey Championships in 2017. There are over 70 pupils in our full Choir, our Chapel Choir sings Evensong in regional cathedrals every term, whilst our 200-seat theatre is the venue for outstanding drama. Our thriving CCF is one of the oldest in the country whilst over half of our senior pupils undertake Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. King’s Bruton is a boarding and day school, which places a very high value on a genuinely holistic education in which every individual pupil is allowed to flourish and develop. The School constantly strives to set standards that are well beyond what might normally be expected. The five main aims of the strategic development plan are: To develop further the School’s warm and supportive boarding community, and to provide a comprehensive round education in which pupils of all ages are valued as individuals. To enhance the School’s strong Christian ethos, and to continue to encourage and support pupils in their spiritual growth and faith. To continue to raise the academic expectations of all pupils at GCSE, BTEC, AS, and A-Level, and in terms of their higher education/career aspirations within a broad and balanced curriculum. To ensure that, within the School’s resources, access to a King’s education and facilities are as open as possible to the wider community. To aim for excellence in the fields of sport and the performing arts. These school values are outlined every year by the School Prefects. They are the values that the Prefects want to be upheld by the rest of the King’s community. As a school community we aspire to uphold: A sense of community: In a small school like King’s, the community spirit is what makes us stand out from the rest. We are a close-knit school so no one is left out. The friendly atmosphere allows individual personalities to develop. Punch above our weight: Our size does not hold us back. We have the willingness and determination to go the extra mile and to achieve the best of our abilities both inside and outside the classroom. Modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat: At King’s, we believe encouraging involvement in all areas of school life leads to a more rounded individual. We acknowledge the humility and enthusiasm necessary to do better in the future. Acceptance and equality: King prides itself on the equality and fairness of its pupils. Diversity is accepted and valued equally so no one feels excluded or less important than anyone else. Loyalty: Loyalty drives life at King’s: this is not only loyalty to friends and staff but also loyalty to Houses, teams, and ultimately oneself. Whether it’s on the sports field, or halfway through the toils of the School year, our loyalties will be what inspire us. Respect: We believe King’s shows respect in all aspects of school life this includes respect towards the School grounds, each other, and any member of staff while also being able to enjoy fun and friendly relationships across the age groups. Pride: We feel all members of King’s, staff and pupils alike, are proud to be part of our school community. This leads to a desire to excel in the School and help us to make the School the best it can be. View full school

- We want to ensure future generations of Godly people rooted and established in their faith and with an unselfish, confident, and serving outlook on the world. We want to train the students to live out their faith with the strength of character and wisdom. The vision of that school, to have leaders for the next generation, was set alight in Dr. and Mrs. Lewis during the time that their children attended that school, and Mrs. Lewis worked there. Dr. and Mrs. Lewis came to Manchester with happy experiences of ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) and a belief that it would make an excellent starting place for the school. Initially, they planned to replace this with a British curriculum. For some time the Lower School and Junior School used a part ACE and part National curriculum, while the Senior School used a British curriculum alone and progressed to GCSE. We were delighted with our results. At GCSE students performed extremely well and were placed at several leading independent schools for 6th form. We were increasingly unhappy with the National Curriculum itself – not just the material, but the philosophy it was unwittingly imparting to the students, especially at GCSE. At this point, the NCSC (now ICCE) was set up by Christian Education Europe. (CEE, our curriculum provider. Visit them at www.christian-education.org). We began tentatively, taking one student right the way through to 18. This student far surpassed the success of our previous students, which resulted in recognition from the university (communicated verbally and recognized by scholarships and the highest placing in the year). This was achieved while strengthening her Christian commitment. Accelerated Christian Education’s program is individualized and non-graded. It is designed to allow students to work at their level of achievement, which may vary from subject to subject. The core curriculum is an individualized, Biblically-based, character-building curriculum package. It is this curriculum that the reading programs (‘Preschool with Ace and Christi’, and ‘ABCs with Ace and Christi’) prepare students to enter. It is integrated with these “early years” programs to provide a quick start for beginning students. However, it will do much more than that. Accelerated Christian Education’s curriculum enables students to progress through high school, successfully preparing them for further and higher education and performance in the world of work. The term “core” is used to distinguish the foundational courses from the enhancement courses in Accelerated Christian Education’s expanded curriculum. The core curriculum provides students with academics, skill-building, reading practice, character and wisdom training, and knowledge of God and His Word. The Infant Learning Centre is the place for new readers. The students progress from the ABCs, once they have passed the Post Test, to the Infants. Here they grow in confidence with their reading and continue to build skills and develop wisdom. They have new reading and comprehension skills to learn in Science and Social Studies PACEs. The Infants are developing in responsibility, learning to set their own goals and score their work with the assistance of the staff. They are also learning to take care of their property, to dress, and to clear up after themselves. They learn about their responsibility to other people and the world around them. They learn to have a good understanding of who they are, where they come from, and to develop self-control and self-esteem. The Juniors are laying down foundations of knowledge, skills, and self-discipline for the future. They have a balance of individual and group work. One of their most crucial developments is learning to work independently and to play interdependently. They work on their PACEs with an increased amount of responsibility and independence. They are constantly developing their communication skills through interactions with the teacher, with their class, during break times, and in quizzes, Oral and Book Reports. The afternoon lessons provide a wide selection of practical lessons that enrich the PACE work. Music, Art and Design Technology, French, and Practical Science are just some of these. The Juniors work in a variety of different settings with a range of group activities, also having their own space to concentrate at their desks. The Seniors follow a higher, more complex level of the structured ACE program. Throughout the morning the students work on the theoretical side of their education and core curriculum and in the afternoon they concentrate on the practical and applying the theoretical. They present project work and participate in group work and discussions. They are honing the work-study skills that have been developed throughout the school. Students are always focused on setting their own goals and being responsible for their work and achievement. They are actively involved in their education from the Lower School and the fruit of that is seen in the Senior Learning Centre. View full school

- King Edward’s is an independent boarding and day school for girls and boys aged 11 -18. We are a school with a rich, historical legacy that runs nearly 500 years to today, which is welcoming and warm, has a friendliness, a sense of community and belonging. It is a school with a commitment and dedication to the care and the progress of the pupils we look after. We are a small school, yet our local pupils can make friends from across the world, from over 40 countries, all here to have a wonderful, British education. We believe there is a richness in learning in a broad social, cultural and academic environment, where it is important that every pupil can flourish, where they can learn to be themselves their best version. What better preparation for the global world in which we live. The opportunities, inside and outside the classroom, are wide-ranging to ensure there is something for everyone, providing academic success, where talents are discovered and true personalities flourish. We believe we are all part of the same story where we, staff, pupils, and parents, work together to have ideas, to work alongside our children in a supportive way but at the end of the day, give the children the teachings, knowledge, experiences, and guidance so they can write their own story – it is their show, their performance, their work. That is the journey we are on for the short time they are in our care. Our unique heritage and place among British co-educational independent schools mean that we can provide the best preparation for adult life to a wider range of young people than almost any other institution. King Edward’s creates a foundation for life both here and now and for the future. Our timeless education reaches far beyond the exciting and challenging academic curriculum and the broad range of opportunities in all areas of school life – sporting, artistic, social, and cultural. We aim to inspire a love of independent learning, a wealth of lasting friendships, Christian values, and a hopeful vision.
- King Edward’s School, an HMC independent day school for boys aged 11-18 founded in 1552. King Edward’s School has been at the heart of Birmingham's life since it was founded in 1552. As the city grew so did the success of the School and for over a century it has been one of the country’s leading schools the school of Burne-Jones and Tolkien, Nobel Prizewinners Wilkins and Vane, Field Marshal Slim, Bill Oddie, Jonathan Coe, and Lee Child. Today it provides an exceptional education that is rich and varied where boys excel academically and develop the qualities to succeed. Based in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, the School shares a 50-acre site with King Edward VI High School for Girls, which provides extensive space and facilities matched by few-day schools in the country. King Edward’s School is a boys’ day school with around 850 pupils aged from 11 to 18. The majority of our pupils join at age 11 and continue through until they are 18 but a few boys join us at 13 and around 10 boys join the Sixth Form. A King Edward’s education is both academically challenging and intellectually exciting. Boys enjoy considerable academic success and, as an IB World School, our pupils are prepared for a global future. The individual boy is paramount and there is great respect for, and celebration of, variety and difference. Our teaching staff are passionate about their subjects and support each boy to succeed to the best of his abilities, helping him grow and develop in the best way for him. The School offers a rich and vibrant educational experience and we want boys to come here that not only love to learn but want to take part in all of the opportunities that the School provides. The substantial extra-curricular program and extensive opportunities to participate in sport and the performing arts means that each boy can find something to enrich his life and breed the courage, relationships, and resilience that he will need to take on the challenges of the world. The world is changing at a dizzying pace and, when their time comes, our boys will be doing jobs that do not exist yet. They will be working with people from all parts of the globe and dealing with a climate of ever-increasing uncertainty. To thrive in such testing conditions, we need to give them a grounding that runs both broad and deep. They need to understand how to get the best out of themselves – and other people – and learn how to work collaboratively to solve ever more complex problems. They need to learn how to manage risk and build the resilience to overcome obstacles. Above all, we want them to be curious about the world they live in and to find a happy and well-balanced life for themselves within it. Building on centuries of tradition and innovation, we are entering a new phase of strategic planning to ensure that King Edward’s maintains its position as a leading academic school both regionally and nationally. We intend to think beyond our recent achievements to create a unique education for the mid-21st century. Our purpose to educate and inspire boys from our region so that they can take on the challenges of the world and lead lives of significant contribution and fulfillment. Our promise to inspire our boys to achieve more than they imagined possible through the quality of the ethos, learning, and care we provide. Our vision a school at the forefront of international education, enabling bright boys from any background to become inspirational young men for Birmingham and the world. View full school

We have high expectations of personal conduct and responsibility. We have an absolute commitment to high standards for all. Above all, we believe in the best – for our students, their families, our Academy, and the wider community. King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy is committed to developing responsible, aspirational, independent, happy, and well-rounded young people with the self-belief to reach their goals. Our work will be underpinned by our core values and driven by our unequivocal belief in equality and tolerance. We will secure this through inspirational and enthusiastic teaching, the provision of a broad, challenging curriculum, and excellent support and care. We want to ensure our young people fulfill and exceed their potential, be proud of who they are, be committed to lifelong learning and leave well-equipped to navigate their way through the challenges of the 21st Century positively contributing to society both economically and socially. The Sponsor, King Edward VI Foundation, has developed a vision and ethos for the Academy. The ‘ethos’ is what the culture of the Academy will be like – the thinking and values that will shape the way it works. The vision of the Academy is how that ethos will look and work in the Academy, how it will impact the day-to-day. This vision and ethos will help us to make the Academy a place where students fulfill their real potential. The Academy will become a beacon of aspiration for the children of the local community and will work with that community to provide an entirely comprehensive education for all of its students. It will blend excellence in academic, vocational, and extra-curricular activity to allow them all to succeed in ways most appropriate to them and their talents. The Academy will ensure that all students receive a well-rounded education that goes well beyond their academic study. It will offer a rich and diverse educational experience designed to broaden their horizons and to raise awareness of what is possible for them as individuals, increasing their ambition. Through strong pastoral systems, the Academy will nurture a caring environment, which values and respects diversity and which seeks to recognize and reward all skills, abilities, and achievements. The King Edward VI Foundation has values that can be shared with the local community of Sheldon Heath to maximize the achievements of the students within the Academy. The Foundation's vision is that: A culture of high aspiration and the celebration of high achievement in academic, vocational, and personal contexts can encourage all students to achieve their potential. A demonstrable interest in and commitment to each student through effective pastoral systems makes them feel safe, valued, and prepared to learn. A well-rounded education, extending beyond academic study and offering rich and diverse opportunities, enables all students to broaden their horizons and to feel that they can succeed at something relevant to them as individuals. The development of a strong and thriving sixth form at the Academy is essential for progression in the education of its students and will enhance provision in East Birmingham as a whole. Providing opportunities for students to practice leadership skills and to make a contribution to the development of their Academy will give students pride in their school and will support positive behavior and discipline. The specialisms of Science and Performing Arts can be maximized through high-quality teaching and learning, resources, and accommodation to offer choice, diversity, and achievement for all talents. Strong partnerships with the local and wider community can be used to enhance the curriculum offered to students and to develop a sense of ownership amongst residents. Access to new technologies will give students the confidence to participate and lead in a rapidly changing society. The Academy will be in a partnership with the King Edward VI Foundation. This means that it will benefit from links with other schools which are part of the same foundation. This partnership will help students to grow academically, vocationally, socially and morally, so that they leave the Academy as independent, cooperative, responsible, and creative young adults able to cope with the challenges and changes they face throughout their lives. Together with relevant qualifications, this will prepare students for entry to Further and Higher Education and the world of work. There is another partnership that we hope will play an important role in making the Academy a success: a partnership with parents. This is essential to ensure that students can achieve their potential and the Academy will encourage parents to feel that they are valued and able to contribute to the process of educating their child.
