  1. At Longlands, we believe that every child is different, yet equally important and valued. We pride ourselves in providing a caring, happy, and friendly atmosphere that nurtures all children to their maximum potential in all areas of their growth and development. I have been the Head Teacher at Longlands since January 2014 and have seen the school grow from strength to strength in a very short time. We aim to give the highest priority to academic excellence through a broad-based balanced curriculum. As well as this, we have some long-established traditions as a school which excels at sport and music. Through every strand of school life, we aim to promote the spiritual, moral, and cultural development of every child, alongside the academic, to prepare them for the future challenges and opportunities that life offers. The Department for Education has recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. We ensure that British Values are introduced, discussed, and lived out through the ethos and work of the school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and, in particular, our RE, SMSC, and focus on our Golden Rules lessons provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. The children at Longlands see democracy celebrated and practiced in a variety of ways. We have an elected school council that represents student voices in the school. The school has a long tradition of a house system named after the Saints of the British Isles and Ireland. We have a rolling program of celebrating Saints Days as part of our focus on British Values. As part of this system, we also have a Head Girl and Boy plus House Captains who act as representatives for their House in a range of contexts. Children regularly get opportunities to express their views in school through Pupil Voice sampling and questionnaires. The importance of laws, whether they are those that govern the class, the school, or the country, is consistently reinforced at Longlands Primary School. Our children are taught from an early age the rules of the school through our Golden Rules and high expectations. Children are taught the value and reasons behind rules and laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken. Through our whole school approach, we seek to enable children to develop the language and strategies to solve conflict and to right wrongs. For example over the past year visits from authorities such as the Police and Fire Service have helped to reinforce this message. Discussions at the start of the year around setting class rules provide a vehicle for exploring the need to balance the rights of the individual against the rights of the group. At Longlands, children are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for our young children to make informed choices. Our whole school approach to the development of a Growth Mindset supports the principle of taking ownership and responsibility for yourself with a huge focus on working hard. At Longlands Primary School, we value the close, positive relationships between all adults and children, and see this as being key to enabling all children to access their learning, Assemblies regularly cover the theme of ‘respect’, and pupils have the opportunity to discuss this further in circle time sessions. Children learn that their behaviors affect their rights and those of others. All members of our school community are actively encouraged to treat each other with respect.
  2. Longfield Middle School first opened in 1935. Its first Headteacher was Miss Holliday. The school is steeped in traditions some of which are still evident today. From the time it has opened it has always had a Head boy and Head girl as well as Deputies. The School Motto is “Think of Others” It emerged when Miss Holliday was drawing school rules, trying to make them few and as reasonable as they could be. Her nephew (who was also a teacher at the school) said “why not end with ‘Think of Others’ because it is the basis for all rules.” Thus it summed up the rules and proved to be an excellent school motto. At Longfield Primary School we believe that there are clear benefits for children who spend regular periods on different learning activities outside of school. We see home learning as an important way of not only establishing a successful dialogue between teachers and parents but also involving parents in the education of their child. Families are in a unique position to provide some very important opportunities for their children that perhaps a school is unable to provide. Longfield teachers will normally set home learning tasks once a week, over and above the usual reading tasks. However, home learning activities do not have to be prescribed by the teacher and may include: reading, walking the dog, attending a club, playing a board game, visiting a museum, going swimming - all of which are invaluable developmental activities. Children also need time after school to play, socialize and engage in child-type activities and out-of-school clubs. Inclusion is an integral part of Longfield Primary School's ethos. Meeting the needs of all our pupils is a priority. We have a holistic approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL). We are committed to ensuring that everything we do in our school reflects our inclusive ethos and benefits all our learners. We work closely with outside agencies and families of children with additional needs to ensure that the children are well supported and make good progress Longfield Primary School believes that every pupil should have the opportunity to develop their talents and academic abilities in a happy and supportive environment. The funding will be spent on ensuring that all Pupil Premium Pupils are making progress in the key skills needed to succeed. The pupil premium is allocated to schools for pupils who have been known to be eligible for free school meals during the last six years. As a school, we are committed to spending this money to support the raising of attainment for these pupils. View full school

  4. Our school strives to reach the highest possible standard in everything we do and in doing this, support children to become confident, independent learners with a thirst to continually learn and do better. We want all of our children to ‘Believe, Achieve, Succeed’. The staff and governors at Lonesome Primary School are fully committed to providing the best possible education for all our children. We value and respect each child’s background and experience so that we can develop the whole child. The aim of the Lonesome Primary School is for every member of the school community to feel valued and respected, for all persons to be treated fairly and for all children to be able to learn in a calm, supportive environment. We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect. At Lonesome children's health, safety and welfare are a key priority and we take our responsibilities in these matters very seriously. All members of staff, governors, and volunteers hold a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate and are regularly trained in safeguarding and Child Protection matters. The school has good links with an attached school social worker from who we ask for advice and support. All new members of staff undertake rigorous pre-employment checks and our recruitment follows the Safer Recruitment guidelines to ensure all of our adults are safe to work with children. At Lonesome Primary School, we believe that PE is vital to children’s physical, emotional and social development as well as their health. PE enables children to develop their self-confidence and competence in a variety of physical activities. It also helps children to develop the skills needed to become successful team players and understand competition. Children must be allowed to participate in a wide range of activities so that they are more likely to continue to be physically active throughout their lives. Our school council representatives are elected by their classmates to represent their views on many different topics. These range from school dinners, behavior, teaching and learning, and the school environment. Circle time is held every week and is often led by the school council representatives who gather the views of their classmates to report back to the Senior Leadership Team in School Council Meetings. One of the best ways to support your child's learning is to know what they are studying in school. The Medium-Term Plans are published on this website each half term - go to 'Children' and then 'Year Group Pages' to find your child's medium-term plan. Almost every child is expected to achieve the expectations for their Year Group. We believe that they can achieve these expectations (learning objectives) if given the right support and if they work hard and follow the instructions given by their teachers and parents and carers. The best way to support your children's learning is to encourage them to read daily, learn number facts and their spellings. Encourage them to be curious learners by taking them on trips out and about - to the park, museums, galleries, sporting events - anything that interests them - and to talk to them about what they see and experience. As you know, Lonesome Primary School aims to be a school where every aspect of a child is focused on and developed, including how they feel about themselves, their learning, and their future. We want all of our pupils to develop as happy and confident people who can express their views clearly and thoughtfully. To support this, we are working towards recognition as a “Rights Respecting School”. This is an award which is given to schools on behalf of UNICEF. UNICEF is the world’s leading organization working for children and their rights. In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfill their potential. These are rights that all children have. They cannot be taken away and it is adults who have the responsibility to ensure their rights are met. The ‘Rights Respecting School’ award (RRSA) will help our pupils to grow into confident, caring, and responsible young citizens both in school and within the wider community. By learning about their rights, our children will also learn about the importance of respecting and standing up for the rights of others. Currently, we have been awarded a 'Recognition of Commitment' and are at present working towards Level 1. Our pupils are encouraged to reflect on how their behavior and actions affect those around them, which allows us to build and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all, both in the classroom and around the school site. We hope that you will feel able to support us and your child in working towards our goal of being a ‘Rights Respecting School’. If you would like more information or if you would like to work as a parent/carer member of our ‘Rights Committee’ please come in and talk to Mrs. Hudson. View full school

  8. Over 100 years ago the school was established to help all the pupils achieve their full potential this hasn’t changed. It is a place where doing your best at all times matters in the classroom and out of the classroom. Taking pride in who you are, how you dress, your attendance and punctuality and also good manners, serving the community, consideration for others, and respect for learning are prized most highly. Boys at LNS continue to experience an education that develops all aspects of their personal and encourages them to live out their core values in their daily lives. Our nautical ethos underpins all that we do and enables our boys to not only be successful in their studies but also provides the platform, to grow personally, develop morally and socially, enhance their sporting talents and further their artistic gifts. LNS is a thriving, vibrant, and caring learning community within which pupils are stretched intellectually and which fosters a love of learning, whilst feeling valued, happy and safe. Expectations of all pupils are high and our school has a reputation for being a happy, friendly, stimulating and caring environment in which everyone is given the opportunity and support to complete their studies successfully and to reach their full potential. The school is recognized for the enrichment opportunities that it provides for its pupils and we expect all boys to be involved in the wider life of the school. The dedicated staff works hard to deliver an education that develops highly qualified, confident, rounded young men, who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges that await them as they take up their place in this ever-changing world. Our vision at London Nautical is to provide a great education. The curriculum and learning experience enables every individual to be stretched and challenged, allowing them to achieve their academic potential. It is also our aim to prepare our young people to be good citizens so that they are ready and equipped for life in our modern society. The purpose of Learning Support in the London Nautical School is to provide an inclusive, coherent, effective, and coordinated support structure for all pupils facing barriers to learning in all Key Stages. The Learning Support system exists to support the academic and pastoral processes of the school and not to replace them. This structure seeks to coordinate support to pupils with particular needs for example those with special educational needs (SEN), the disaffected, the gifted and talented, truants, borderline achievers, and students with English as an additional language. In this way, it aims to coordinate a range of separately funded strands of individual support and at the same time provide the discrete delivery of each in a relevant and focused manner. Our aim to enable all pupils to have access to the curriculum and to achieve at a level commensurate with their ability. View full school

We believe that primary education is more than just academic achievement. We aim to foster a love of learning in our children that they will carry through their life. We also place a strong emphasis on ensuring an ethical ethos and strong values system permeates everything we do. We are committed to keeping our children safe and promote a culture of vigilance through vigorous and robust policies and procedures. We believe that children have a right to learn in a supportive, caring, and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying our safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems. Children can start nursery at London Fields Primary School, the school term after their third birthday. You can apply to the school once they are two and a half by completing an application form and returning it to the school office with official proof of address, dated within three months, and an official birth certificate. A general application form can be collected from the school office. Places will be allocated towards the end of the spring term, before your child starting in September. We have chosen to name our classes after a range of famous people who we feel represent some of the values and dispositions we aim to foster at London Fields. The different classes have spent some time researching into their namesake's life and work. We strongly believe that children achieve best when school and homework in close partnership. The staff work as a team to deliver the best educational experience they can for the children of London Fields. We are very proud to have been awarded the Kidscape Bullying Intervention Training (BIT) Certificate. In 2015, London Fields pupils from Years 1-6 took part in a week-long anti-bullying training including preventative and remedial strategies to dealing with bullying, self-esteem and conflict resolution workshops, and activities to celebrate our differences. On ‘Friendship Friday’ (September 2015) we spent a day reminding ourselves what makes a good friend and practicing being one. This included writing compliments to each other and doing good deeds. We wore our clothes and raised money for Kidscape. In Autumn 2015 we participated in the national anti-bullying week (16-20thNovember) with the theme ‘Make a Noise about Bullying’, learning how to identify and safely report bullying. In KS2, we reminded ourselves of what is cyber-bullying and how to block someone or report it. We thought about the consequences of bullying and what happens to the perpetrators. In KS1, we read books about bullying and discussed the situations and how they could have been better, and made posters against bullying. View full school

  14. London Enterprise Academy is a small, more personal school with no more than 120 pupils in each year group. Students are grouped in smaller class sizes. This means teachers will get to know every pupil as an individual and be able to closely nurture and challenge them all. We have a longer school day, a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and a more personalized curriculum for our students. Our curriculum focuses on every student mastering the most important subjects and skills, particularly English, Maths, and Science. We aim to encourage our students to become “learners for life” by embedding enterprise skills throughout the curriculum. We embrace technological advancement and innovation to ensure our students have the latest facilities available to make learning exciting, engaging, and fun. With smaller classes, your child will receive more personal attention and be less likely to be overwhelmed by the transition to secondary school. We work with professionals and entrepreneurs to provide mentoring to our pupils from a young age to inspire them to become the leaders of tomorrow. We demand high standards from our pupils and staff, with a ‘no excuses’ approach to work and discipline. Our vision is to establish an outstanding school that will ensure students achieve personal success in their school life and beyond. We believe success at school provides a strong foundation for students to become engaged citizens who believe in themselves and can bring about positive change, for themselves and the society they live in. Our school’s ethos will support this vision by creating a school that is sympathetic to the social background of the students given the Tower Hamlets location and proactive concerning the unique opportunities this dynamic and well-situated borough affords. Central to our school’s ethos is a student-centric and individualized learning approach designed to achieve personal success for every student, regardless of where their abilities lie. Our curriculum is designed to equip our students as engaged citizens who will have the right skills to be active participants in modern British society. The school gives parents additional choice in their quest for a school providing outstanding education, focusing on excellence in academic achievement and in an environment that nurtures their child to develop a strong sense of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development without having to pay. We all want our children to live in a safe and loving environment so that they can grow up to become happy, confident adults. You will already know that your children can be vulnerable to risks both inside and outside the home, and will have taken steps to protect them so they can grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential. The regulations state that to meet the standard for the SMSC development of pupils, the proprietor of the independent school, academy, or free school must Actively promote the fundamental British values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. We have a fully vetted and monitored extracurricular activities program. All activities are monitored for neutrality. We offer major religious groups the opportunity to practice under their faith. There are Muslim prayers every day of the week for both boys and girls. All sessions are supervised by a Muslim member of staff. LG members monitor the prayers for content, attendance, and safety. London Enterprise Academy is a fully inclusive school. We offer accessibility and support to children with a wide range of needs and have adapted resources to support them. We review our practices regularly to make sure all students are fully included in the lesson. Students are mindful of others’ needs and aware of how they should adapt their behavior to support them. Our school core values are leadership, enterprise, ambition, drive, excellence, and respect. It is our vision that the curriculum with all its enrichment opportunities will give our students the chance to develop these qualities. Many of the enrichment opportunities will give the students insight into a range of skills and subjects so that they can grow their experiences and discover new talents. Many of the subjects can be offered as a certificate or qualification (or lead to a wider choice of GCSEs in the future) and will be an enhancement to any CV. Fundamentally, we want our pupils to become confident, creative, and critical problem-solving citizens with broad experiences that not only enhance their GCSE achievements but also give them the skills needed for the 21st Century workplace and to embrace “Learning for life”. 20. Welcome to London Christian School. We are an independent primary school that exists to provide an excellent Christian education for children in London. At LCS we believe that pupils flourish in a secure, caring, and fun environment, with clear expectations and firm boundaries. Our class sizes are kept small to allow us to strive for academic excellence while treating pupils as individuals. We encourage pupils to develop their talents and personality and we value diversity in our school community. London Christian School was established in September 2007 and started with just four pupils. Since then the school has flourished to its current size of 120 pupils across eight classes, aged from 3 to 11 years old. Our carefully crafted curriculum is built around a traditional Biblical Christian understanding of the world and human nature, and pupils learn in a nurturing environment in which they feel safe and happy. We have been based in our current purpose-built facility nestled in the Borough vicinity of London Bridge, since 2009. Our central London location provides us with wonderful opportunities to visit places of great historical, cultural, and geographical interest and create a range of learning experiences outside the classroom. The school has a courtyard and a covered rooftop playground as well as easy access to the local park for sports and recreation. We exist to provide excellent Christian education and we aim to deliver this by: Teaching a creative and engaging curriculum tailored to individual pupil needs Nurturing a love for learning Celebrating pupil achievements At London Christian School our Ethos are: We believe that education is not only about academic progress, but is also concerned with a child's spiritual, social, and emotional development. We promote values of Christian behavior and community that have stood the test of time, enabling us to establish a loving, family atmosphere within the school. Every area of school life is informed and distinctively shaped by our Christian foundation and the values that we seek to instill are rooted in the Bible. We are delighted to welcome children from any background, regardless of religion or belief, into our supportive and caring community. We seek to actively partner with parents to nurture and engage their children in a lifelong discovery of learning. We believe that education is about so much more than exam preparation. It is about understanding, nurturing, and developing character. Learning is not simply about adding to the knowledge bank. It is about 'learning how to learn, even for the youngest children. Pupils are introduced to and taught about the Characteristics of Learning in lessons and assemblies along with their associated age-appropriate questions and catchphrases. Regular discussion and reminders help to embed this knowledge and enable pupils to utilize these skills in school and life beyond LCS. LCS Characteristics of Learning: Persevering Collaborating Linking Experimenting Organizing Our curriculum combines a rigorous academic focus with an engaging, creative approach. We adapt units of work to pupils’ interests and abilities, ensuring that they make great progress. Literacy and Mathematics form the foundation of our education at LCS. These are taught every day in each year group and skills are developed through formal and informal assessment, interventions, delivering lessons with captivating themes and activities, and integrating subjects such as Science, Geography, and History. In an ever-changing world of technology, we seek to inform and prepare our children for a lifetime of digital learning by teaching key principles of computing, programming, and internet safety. We integrate technology into many areas of the curriculum using portable Chromebooks, iPads, and floor robots. The older children share what they make and learn via a safe social learning platform. Alongside our core curriculum, we strive to promote well-roundedness by teaching subjects such as sport and foreign languages (Mandarin Chinese, French, and Latin). Creativity is nurtured through Art and Music, with fundamental techniques and musical theory instilled from a young age. Older children also participate in Politics and Philosophy lessons to encourage interest in contemporary issues and events. In our early years setting, key areas for growth are Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Communication, and Language, and Physical Development. They underpin all activities in these classes and are delivered through inspiring themes such as ‘Space’, ‘Transport’ and ‘Under the Sea’. We seek to enrich the learning experience by providing natural links across subjects. We feel that we are doing a good job when a child remarks in a Mathematics lesson “Ah, that’s like something I learned in Geography”. View full school

  22. London Christian Learning Centre was started in 1990 through the home-school of the Bolus family. Rev. Ricardo Bolus and his wife, Ida Bolus, founded the school in Finsbury Park, North London. They pioneered the school with their children and later partnered with other missionary parents in training their children. After much prayer and waiting, in June 2005, LCLC obtained the DFES registration and was officially recognized by the government as an Independent school. The school is now situated at 639-643 Romford Road, Manor Park, London E12 5AD where we are hoping to enlarge our facilities. With a humble beginning of just six students, the school has grown. We believe as God continues to entrust us with the resources, LCLC will endeavor to educate more and more students in the future. We Believe in the Sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption, and final judgment. The divine inspiration of the Holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man making him subject to God's wrath and condemnation. The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin and its eternal consequences. The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead. Our Vision is to make available an education that is Biblically based and academically excellent in a godly environment. Our Mission is to glorify God by leading boys and girls to a personal knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and help them grow to Christ-like maturity and discover their life's purpose. Our objectives for Students : That each child will accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. That each one will grow in this faith to become an obedient disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. That each one will learn to serve and thus find and follow God's call on their life. That they will strive for excellence in the gifts that God has given. On the surface, most schools look alike—buildings, personnel, curriculum, and budgets. The A.C.E. program is different. For over 40 years, it has been the trendsetter in Biblical educational reform. Its philosophy is built on basic principles of the Word of God. Students are taught to see life from God’s point of view, to take responsibility for their learning, and to walk in Godly wisdom and character. Accelerated Christian Education® is not just a publisher but a comprehensive Bible-based program that serves both the campus-based school and the homeschool. We want to prepare children for the world today and give them the academic and spiritual tools necessary to achieve their God-given potential. At A.C.E., our purpose in providing educational materials goes beyond simply helping students learn the academics required to enter college or get a good job. We desire to build in students a life-long burning passion to learn and grow spiritually. It is one thing to want children to be successful and quite another to provide the academic and character training to ensure this accomplishment. Godly character training is part of the A.C.E. learning experience, and it prepares students to welcome and accept challenges and future opportunities. Sixty character traits, such as kindness, loyalty, and honesty, are taught within the curriculum. Students can observe character development in the true-to-life character strips and then apply the Godly character lessons to their own lives. Challenging and highly effective, the A.C.E. program is an extraordinary educational approach, Biblical in its core, that prepares students for tomorrow’s world while giving them traditional moral values that will last a lifetime. Accelerated Christian Education—a unique program for this time in history—is building Godly citizens and Christian leaders of tomorrow. A.C.E. is your servant to meet the educational needs of today, with the traditional values of yesterday, and the technology of tomorrow. With A.C.E.’s concept of individualized learning, students don’t just get by—they get ahead! To God be the glory! View full school
