  1. Auburn University at Montgomery has been ranked among the South's top universities by U.S. News and World Report. It was named one of the best colleges in the Southeast by The Princeton Review. It is designated as a Military Friendly School and is consistently chosen as the best university area. Auburn Montgomery provides students with detailed knowledge and hands-on, practical experience, often from professionals in the field. If it grabs you, excites you, inspires you, defines whom you want to be, you will find it in one of Auburn University at Montgomery's five colleges: College of Business, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and College of Public Policy and Justice. You will learn in small classes with faculty who know you and care about your progress while you get the complete college experience — building friendships, getting involved, becoming a leader, and, of course, cheering for the home team. The state of Alabama founded AUM in 1967, at the request of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Then, like now, growing businesses desperately needed a deeper pool of educated employees. AUM's original mission involved the support of the government at all levels. Just seven miles east of the state capitol today, AUM supports several locals, state, and regional government functions, but our mission is much more significant. When AUM first opened its doors to students in 1969, it was a commuter campus. Our students worked throughout the River Region, and they came to our campus for one reason — they wanted more and better opportunities to make a life for themselves and their families. Students still choose AUM for the same reason, but today, they come from all over the country — all over the world — at a variety of points in their lives to start building the lives they choose at AUM. We serve an exciting mix of traditional and non-traditional students. Some are right out of high school, while others have been working for years. Together, they bring diverse experiences into the classroom, making for a far more exciting and dynamic learning environment. People who come to AUM are serious about their education, and they aren't here (just) for the party. From your first days on campus, you'll be surrounded by people who take their education seriously. You'll find that you always motivate and inspire each other. Just as Montgomery is a far different city than it was in 1967, AUM looks much different today from those early years. We still serve working and part-time students, but our first-time, full-time student population is rising. Our campus is a thriving, growing place for all types of students. Today, we offer more than 90 fields of study at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. We have unique programs unavailable anywhere else in the region, including Geographic Information Systems, Hospitality and Tourism, Homeland Security, and Cybersystems and Information Security. Each of our five colleges offers undergraduate and graduate classes in traditional, online, and hybrid formats, with courses offered during the day, evenings, and weekends. At Auburn Montgomery, "our standard is excellence" isn't just our slogan. It's our mission. All five of our colleges - Business, Education, Arts and Sciences, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Public Policy and Justice - are academically challenging, providing a level of rigor and quality that you would expect in a private college. As a result, our schools are among the top performers in the state in their respective fields. We offer the unique combination of a broad university scope while still keeping the small school feels that keeps our students coming back. We offer bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees and programs of study in more than 90 areas. Plus, our classes are offered days, nights, weekends, and online. But we've worked hard to keep our classes small to ensure that students receive personal attention. That's why we keep our student-faculty ratio at 16:1. It's what works best for our students. But we're not resting on our laurels. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools recently renewed our accreditation. As part of that work, we have developed a program we call Writing Across the Curriculum. The program is built on the knowledge that written communication skills are - and will continue to be - critical for our students' success at the academic and work levels. Thus, we have renewed our commitment to teaching writing skills in virtually all our classes. In the coming year, we will work to add the teaching of writing and the expectation of writing in all our classes. It's all part of our commitment to academic excellence. You are about to begin one of the most critical times of your life. Applying to AUM is the first step toward getting your degree and opening a world of opportunities for your future. It's our goal to make the admission process as easy as possible. There is more to your college experience, of course than what you learn in the classroom. Your personal experience in school will be unique, whether you live on campus or going to school at night after work. And you will grow during your time at AUM in ways that are hard to predict. There are many different facets to Campus Life, from where you might live on campus to your many great eating options. But there is so much more to your time at AUM.

We value and respect people's beliefs and cultures but reserve the right to deliver the curriculum as set out by the government and agreed by governors of the academy. We are a nondenominational academy and will celebrate and respect all religions and values in equal regard. Above all, freedom of thought and speech is central to learning. All who work and learn in our academy are entitled to a view and all are expected to respect others. We strive, not to teach facts but to enable our children to solve problems, find answers, and ask questions. To reason, debate, and draw their informed conclusions to situations not yet met. In short ‘Our children are our future, all that we do now is informed by that. We educate not for what is but, for what may be the needs of the future. We strive for high academic standards through outstanding teaching and learning. We value all achievement, committed to the equality of opportunity for everyone. We value creativity and ensure that the emotional well-being of our pupils through creativity and opportunity for expression is at the heart of our school. 6. Welcome to Montgomery Bell Academy! We are the only boys' school in Middle Tennessee, founded in 1867, and proud of our roots and foundations dating back to the 1780's. MBA's long history is intricately woven into a vision and mission of developing "Gentlemen, Scholars, Athletes," and keeping current in our world. We relish boys' spirit and work hard to ensure that a boy's effort and excellence, and character define him – not his last name or zip code. MBA's main campus is on Harding Road, where one will see beautiful buildings and green spaces in the center of Nashville. We are also fortunate to have playing fields in the Sylvan Park area, located approximately two miles from our main campus, and 200 acres of pristine mountaintop property that includes an observatory, playing fields, a lake, hiking trails, and high and low ropes courses. Our mountaintop retreat at Long Mountain is approximately a 90-minute drive from our main campus. Both the property on Harding Road and at Long Mountain will see significant expansion in the next two years. We are committed to building boys into great young men and citizens who will make a difference in their communities. We hope they leave our school with confidence and competence and the vision and empathy to be kind, humble, and thoughtful people. We are also grateful for the impact and influence they have on their communities. We are proud of the lifelong association and camaraderie that our boys develop. Please visit our campus and explore this website to learn more about the people and programs that form this great community. Montgomery Bell Academy offers young men an exemplary college preparatory experience, assisting them to be "gentlemen, scholars, and athletes" and young men of wisdom and moral integrity who will make significant contributions to society. Admission to MBA is competitive, and successful candidates are those who have demonstrated a serious approach to their studies and ascribe to our ideals of becoming a Gentleman, Scholar, and Athlete. Additionally, we want students who will seek the abundant opportunities that MBA provides – grants to study and travel across the globe, excellent teachers and coaches who are committed to providing the very best education to our students, and nationally recognized programs like debate, fine arts, service, robotics, and more. Montgomery Bell Academy intentionally provides a breadth of experiences to spark intellectual curiosity and develop each student's innate abilities. Our small class sizes and daily advisory sessions allow our students to be indeed known by the school's faculty. The underpinning of an MBA education is a classical curriculum focused on the liberal arts. Some elements of our approach are thus quite traditional. In addition to at least two years of studying Latin, students focus heavily on English grammar and core writing skills throughout six years. However, they do this not because such instruction is traditional, but rather because such an approach builds a foundation for developing skills highly relevant to the modern world. Learning Latin improves a boy's understanding of language mechanisms and helps him learn modern languages, including English. Emphasizing grammar and writing in English allows boys to express themselves effectively in higher-level classes and to develop lifelong skills that set our students apart. While our curriculum may be classical, it is not old-fashioned. We are proud of how many of our academic departments are at the cutting edge of modern instructional techniques. From the range of science labs our students take part in the use of technology in history and math classes, from digital resources in art rooms to immersion teaching in our high-school language programs, we continuously seek out best practices and innovative approaches that prove effective in developing our boys' intellectual curiosities and abilities. The academic experience of MBA students reflects our philosophy. After focusing on developing foundational skills in seventh and 8th grade, the high school delves deeper into the thorough understanding of a subject, the logical connections between various concepts, and the eloquent presentation of ideas and arguments. During these high school years, our students build upon a strong foundation and gain the flexibility to pursue subjects that ignite their passions. We offer 27 AP courses across 20 subjects, a vast array that satisfies our students' myriad interests. Over two-thirds of our teachers have earned an advanced degree in their area of study. They have abundant access to professional development opportunities that further expand their understanding and knowledge of the specific subject matter and classical and single-sex education. We are gratified that many of our faculty choose MBA to accomplish their life's work teaching our students. This cohesive and long-standing group provides continuity and consistency in the high-quality education a young man receives at MBA. We complement this core through an exacting and deliberate hiring process, whereby we seek to attract and retain the best teaching minds from across the globe. Excellent teaching is a critical component of our students' success.

Faculty is MA’s most vital asset. They are highly skilled, dedicated, caring, creative, and passionate educators. Teachers prioritize seeing each child as an individual and tailoring their teaching style to target their strengths, interests, and areas for improvement. Instructional Coaches in the Lower School and “coach classes” in the Middle and Upper Schools provide customized learning opportunities for students who need either enrichment or extra help. This personalized approach extends beyond the classroom into the art studio, music room, playing fields, and the college counseling process. Technology is incorporated throughout the Lower, Middle, and Upper School curriculum is intentional and strategic ways to enhance teaching and learning. MA students learn to learn. They develop critical thinking and communication skills, problem solving, character, and habits of mind that set them up for college success and their lives. Montgomery Academy is the whole package: academics, arts, athletics, and abundant opportunities to get involved outside class. Campus organizations—sports and clubs, theater and music, debate, and student leadership—give students valuable opportunities to develop skills, make new friends, and try new activities. Fun is also high on the agenda. Favorite traditions include Homecoming and Eagle Day: a field day of athletic events between the Cardinal and Navy teams. Each new student is assigned one of our school colors. This then becomes a student’s Eagle Day team. The winner of the day’s events, held each spring, claims the victory flag, which is flown over the school during the next academic year. Vaughn Rd Campus - Grades 6-12 Address: 3240 Vaughn Rd, Ala. 8.
