- At Moston Lane, we promote and celebrate the love of learning, high aspirations, and standards. The school believes that everyone can achieve. However, there may become a time in your child’s education where they need some additional help or support for some or all of their time at school. At Moston Lane, we embrace new technology to enhance your child’s learning. The school is dedicated to ensuring your child is safe when using technology online and e-safety is embedded in the children’s education. We want our parents and children to improve their understanding of e-safety issues so they can learn to use the internet safely and responsibly you would like to register your child for a place in our Nursery, please call the school office to collect an application form. We will contact you during the summer term, before your child is due to start nursery, to let you know if your child has been offered a place. We do not admit children on a ‘first-come, first-served basis. If you are allocated a place at Moston Lane Nursery this does not guarantee a reception place at Moston Lane Primary School. When your child is due to start Reception you will be contacted by Manchester City Council who will give you details of how to apply online. You must apply to Manchester City Council before the deadline, which is usually in January after your child has started Nursery. School places for children in Reception to Year 6 are dealt with by Manchester City Council’s Admissions Team. Our planned admission number is 60 children per year group. We cannot admit children to take us above that number, unless under the direction of the Local Authority. When you apply for a place, your child will be placed on a waiting list. This is managed by the Local Authority, to ensure fair access for all children. If a place becomes available, it will be offered to the next child on the waiting list. If you wish to appeal for a place at Moston Lane this must be via the Local Authority Integrated Admission team. You know your children best and we want to ensure that we are providing your children with the best experiences possible at Moston Lane. If your child has developed a personal interest in something, please come in and share this with staff as we will try to provide your child with the opportunity to explore this interest at school. For example, if they have enjoyed looking for minibeasts at the weekend we could plan for learning experiences linked to Spring. Your child may have visited somewhere over the weekend and if we are aware of this we can plan for opportunities for your child to share their experiences and enhance their learning further. Anything you feel your child is particularly interested in or has enjoyed doing/visiting, please tell a member of our staff team and we will try to incorporate this into our planning. This process is ongoing throughout your child’s time in our Foundation Stage. High-quality P.E. and sport for all children at Moston Lane develop their enjoyment of sport and physical activity by promoting a passion for lifelong physical activity through shared interests with other children, schools, and clubs within the community. All children receive at least 2 hours of P.E. and sports activities each week. We also provide extra opportunities where ever possible. Extracurricular performance has been outstanding in recent years. School sports teams consistently compete in the latter stages of citywide competitions. Moston Lane attended the annual Manchester P.E. Conference which was held at the Armitage Sports Centre on Thursday 20th October. We were delighted to be one of five primary schools in Manchester to be awarded a trophy for ‘Outstanding Commitment to PE and Sport 2016’. The Moston Lane football team were also Manchester Schools winners in 2012/13, and children competing in the citywide cross country finals in the same year are now representing local running clubs. Our children make us proud by being good sportsmen gracious in victory and humble in defeat. Physical Education and games are an important part of the curriculum at EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Moston Lane recognizes that all healthy children need to be active and fit. At Moston Lane Primary School we seek to develop children’s understanding and appreciation of ICT and the way it impacts our lives. We believe it is essential to provide opportunities in all National Curriculum subject areas for children to develop their ICT capability and to use it to support their learning. ICT makes education accessible to all, irrespective of learning styles and individual needs. At Moston Lane, ICT education is provided in a safe, happy, and disciplined environment to stimulate and challenge both pupils and staff. Teaching and learning in the computer suite will be based with an emphasis on whole-class activities. New knowledge or skills will be taught by the teacher to the class and these will be reinforced by the class activities using the computers. There will be lessons where the teacher is repeating a skill for the children to understand it or to further their knowledge.
- We are hard working and caring school community that strives to grow our children as life-long learners. Since the last Ofsted inspection, staff, parents, governors, and children have been working hard to develop our school ethos, community, and the learning experiences that we offer. Our vision is to provide an inspiring education that sets all children up with the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to become learners for life – in the classroom and beyond. Our children will become caring, responsible future citizens that the community is proud of. We are an improving school where every second count and, with our new Senior Leadership team, we are busy putting key plans in place to ensure that all children achieve and thrive at Moston Fields. We will also continue to develop opportunities for parents and carers to be involved in school. Our Parent Focus Group is a key part of this. All of our work will have the ultimate aim of developing our children into confident, articulate learners and active citizens of the future. Moston Fields is a caring and inclusive school community that inspires and motivates pupils to reach their full potential both inside and outside of their classroom. We have a dedicated team of staff who are committed to providing the best provision for all pupils, including those with additional needs. This year, to create a more open-ended home learning activity that gives children the chance to use and extend their learning around the foundation subjects and practice their core basic skills, we have introduced Learning Logs. These Learning Logs will allow for each child to produce their homework at their level and reflect their interests. It will also allow their creativity and research skills to be developed, as they find varying ways to present their homework. Initially, this is for KS1 and KS2 but Reception will take up as the year progresses. Children in Nursery and Reception at Moston Fields are taught using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This sets the standards for learning, development, and cares for children from birth until the end of the Reception year. It aims to develop each child to their full potential by offering a ‘principled, play-based approach to learning and development’. Young children learn best through play and Early Years Practitioners will be able to provide your child with appropriate play and learning experiences for their stage of development and help them develop new skills. The activities that are provided for young children will underpin the skills they need to work towards the Early Learning Goals at the end of their Reception year at the school. The EYFS curriculum enables practitioners to recognize their child’s strengths and areas where they need more support to develop new skills. At Moston Fields Primary, Nursery, and Reception pupils will be accessing a rich language-based curriculum all based around specific high-quality key texts that have been chosen to give children a range of learning opportunities across the seven key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Our life skills curriculum is driven by the school's mission statement to provide fun and engaging opportunities for children to develop key life skills, essential for living in the wider world. The children will develop skills and knowledge and become resilient when faced with a challenge. The pupil premium is a grant given to schools for each child who claims free school meals currently or who has done so in the past. It is really important that all parents/carers of children eligible to do so, register for free school meals even if you don’t choose to have them as the grant enables us to provide extra resources for your children. Research has shown that children who have been on/ are on Free School Meals don’t attain as highly as other children in school. The government provides this grant so that we can commission/allocate additional support to ensure that they do. The support can be in a short burst or over a longer-term such as a term or two terms. It may take the form of 1-1 or small group teaching and maybe an evidence-based intervention. It may also be used to develop teaching and learning approaches to support the acceleration of outcomes. It may also be used to help break down any barriers to learning that individuals or groups have. At Moston Fields, we are currently developing our intervention programs ensuring that what we utilize is evidence-based and able to show impact. The government allows us to spend this money in a variety of ways making sure that it impacts children in terms of improving their literacy and mathematical skills and their social and emotional well-being and happiness. Keeping children safe in education is statutory guidance for schools and colleges who must have regard to it when carrying out their duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This means that they should comply with it unless exceptional circumstances arise. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. To fulfill this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centered. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child. View full school

- Welcome to Mosspits Lane Primary School. Mosspits Lane Primary School has a caring, stimulating, and friendly atmosphere in which every member of the school feels safe is valued and is treated with respect. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Our school mission statement: Nurture through respect, Inspire through creativity, Succeed beyond expectations. Mosspits Lane Primary School is committed to serving its community and surrounding areas. We recognize the multi-cultural, multi-faith, and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom, and therefore those it serves. Mosspits Lane Primary School accepts admissions from all those entitled to an education under British law, including pupils of all faiths or none. It follows the policies outlined by its governing body regarding equal opportunities, which guarantee that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar. It seeks to serve all. The Government emphasizes that schools are required to ensure that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools. They define the fundamental British values as follows: Democracy The rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs We teach British Values through a wide range of activities, some of these are implicit within the National and School Curricula, others are taught through explicit British Values lessons as part of the PSHE program of study. We are all happy on our Early Years Quality Mark, Basic Skills Award, Dyslexia Award, Liverpool Counts Silver Quality Mark, Liverpool Reads Gold Quality Mark, Rights Respecting Schools, Investors in Pupils. The school curriculum is based on two elements: The Early Years Foundation Stage framework (Reception classes), The National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5, and 6). At Mosspits Lane Primary School, we use the DfE's program of study for English (2014) to underpin our teaching of Writing across KS1 and 2. The programs of study for writing at key stages 1 and 2 are constructed similarly to those for reading: Transcription (spelling and handwriting) Composition (articulating ideas and structuring them in speech and writing) Also, pupils should be taught how to plan, revise and evaluate their writing. These aspects of writing have been incorporated into the programs of study for composition. Writing down ideas fluently depends on effective transcription: that is, on spelling quickly and accurately through knowing the relationship between sounds and letters (phonics) and understanding the morphology (word structure) and orthography (spelling structure) of words. Effective composition involves articulating and communicating ideas and then organizing them coherently for a reader. This requires clarity, awareness of the audience, purpose, and context, and an increasingly wide knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. Writing also depends on fluent, legible, and, eventually, speedy handwriting. View full school

- We are a new academy, and the second school to open under the Mossbourne name. The flagship school, in Central Hackney, has become synonymous with educational excellence – achieved through outstanding teaching, a culture of ‘no excuses, and high expectations of students and staff. At Mossbourne Victoria Park, we will continue and build on that ethos to provide an inspiring and rewarding education for all our students. Secondary school students are at a time of their lives when they benefit greatly from clear values and consistent guidance. It is a challenge for schools everywhere to provide this stability in a changing educational, social and economic landscape. At Mossbourne, our values are deeply rooted in a belief that all students can succeed. We define that success as their ability, upon completing their formal education, to join society as informed, curious and independent participants. Our students must leave with first-rate qualifications, as these will open doors to future opportunities and careers. Equally important, however, is that our students are confident, are interested in the world, and able to think for themselves. To achieve this, learning, rather than teaching, is at the heart of everything we do. Our school day is structured to include time for students to sit and work independently, to consolidate and extend what they have learned, as well as to prepare for upcoming lessons. Our staff are subject experts and focus on how to ensure all students are supported and challenged. Indeed, staff training is a sustained and meaningful part of school life. Finally, we will never tolerate any behavior that disrupts the learning of our students. All applications to Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy must be made through the Learning Trust. In year 7 this process begins with parents filling out the Common Application Form which is available online or through your child’s primary school in September / October of year 6. Our students study a curriculum that is broad and balanced. The main focus is a mastery in the core areas of English, Maths, and Science, in which students will spend over half of lesson time. This curriculum allows a balance between academic, creative, and practical subjects and ensures that students develop a range of knowledge and skills. Students will also participate in two Guided Reading sessions each week. Students are grouped by reading age and read, discuss and review literature that will challenge and inspire them. These sessions are led by a member of staff but the onus is very much on the students to develop their oracy through public reading and debate/discussion. In the Enrichment Programme, students join clubs and societies to broaden their horizons and extend their skills and areas of interest. From Debating, Chess, Origami, Badminton, Film Club, Biological Drawing, Music Appreciation, and many more, students can choose from a wide and exciting range of Enrichment activities. As a parent or carer, you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online, here you will find tips, advice, guides, and resources to help keep your child safe online. You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online. We recognize that all staff, including volunteers, have a full and active part to play in protecting our children and young people from harm. At Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy, we aim to ensure that all students achieve their full potential, both academically and socially. We are committed to meeting the needs of students with special educational needs and aim to ensure that all students have access to a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum as possible, including activities outside of the classroom. Following the Revised Code of Practice 2014, we recognize that children have special educational needs if they have a “learning difficulty which calls for special educational provision” to be made for them. The Academy’s SEND Inclusion Policy sets out the school’s aims, principles, and strategies for the identification and support of these students. All appeals are managed by the Hackney Learning Trust. If you have not been offered a place at Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy (MVPA), the law entitles you to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeal Panel. This panel is completely independent of both the school and the Local Authority. The appeals are held in Hackney. should include any evidence or supporting material with your appeal form and you must give them grounds for your appeal at the time you lodge your appeal form. Your appeal form will not be accepted unless you state the grounds for your appeal. You may appeal for more than one school. View full school

- Mossbourne Riverside Academy is one of a group of academies arising from the realization of Sir Clive Bourne’s dream to provide the children of Hackney with an outstanding education. Mossbourne Riverside Academy follows a formula of high expectations, doing the simple things right, and holds the belief that all children can succeed. Our calm working atmosphere helps to create well-rounded pupils who excel academically, in the arts, and on the sporting field. In September 2016 our new building opened on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is here on this prestigious site that we will expand over the years to become a three-form entry primary academy. Our first cohorts of pupils will be very special because they will be the example to all future years and will be pioneers in making another outstanding Mossbourne academy. Mossbourne Riverside Academy is an inclusive academy where we focus on the well-being and progress of every pupil and where all members of our community are of equal worth. We believe that the Equality Act provides a framework to support our commitment to valuing diversity, tackling discrimination, promoting equality, and fostering good relationships between people. It also ensures that we continue to tackle issues of disadvantage and underachievement of different groups. We recognize that these duties reflect international human rights standards as expressed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act 1998. Our governors ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction. They hold our leaders to account for the educational performance of our pupils and the performance management of staff. They oversee financial performance and make sure our money is well spent. Mossbourne Riverside Academy is committed to serving its community. It recognizes the multi-cultural, multi-faith, and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom. It also understands the vital role it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalization by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them. It follows equal opportunities guidance which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality political or financial status, or similar. Mossbourne Riverside Academy is dedicated to preparing pupils for their adult life beyond the formal curriculum and ensuring that it promotes and reinforces British values to all its pupils. English is taught through the use of reading Write Inc. (RWI) and Literacy and Language all children in KS1 and Reception are grouped according to their reading ability. Maths is taught using the Mathematics Mastery approach. As an academy, we also use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to enhance our curriculum. IPC is effective in enabling pupils to apply skills and knowledge acquired in English and Maths, and other curriculum areas purposefully and concretely. The school has linked all topic areas to the key skills children should learn in Science, History, Geography, DT, Computing, Art, and Music/Dance. Our children are assessed against the key objectives using a tracking tool called Classroom Monitor. This gives us a clear picture of the children’s progress against their age expected targets. The internet hosts many exciting opportunities for education. The online world is a wonderful place for young people to explore with unpredicted opportunities for learning and creativity, but just like the real world, there are risks and dangers they should be aware of and which we should all act to protect them from. At Riverside, we encourage the use of technology as an important part of our pupils’ development but always want them to spend their time online safely. We have strong and constantly updated filters in place to protect and govern internet use. The best way to protect your children online is to be informed yourself and make it part of your day-to-day life. We spend years training our children to cross the road and stay safe away from strangers in the outside world in all the daily little messages we give them before we ever let them out there of their own. Training them to be safe online should be an equal part of these safety messages, after all, they can be out on the ‘worldwide web’ from a very young age, unsupervised at times. The Mossbourne Riverside Parent Association – (MRPA) is a committee of parents who believe in full support of our children’s education. The committee was formed to assist and support the Academy in providing the best for its pupils. View full school

- Moss Hall children come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures and this is what makes our school the special place that it is. Our whole school ethos and approach to learning is built upon mutual respect, understanding, and a sense of shared community responsibility – as encompassed by fundamental British values. Our main aim is to encourage all children to achieve their full potential by offering them a broad and balanced curriculum. The children are given many opportunities through a wide range of activities to give them the best preparation for the future. We develop a love of learning in all of our children by offering them a positive, rich, and inclusive experience. We pride ourselves in the harmony we achieve in our multicultural community and place the highest value upon mutual understanding and respect for each other. A special feature of our school is the wonderful enthusiasm displayed by the parents and carers towards supporting the school and its many events. We believe that every child matters and has his or her skills. Our staff team aims to develop these skills and abilities so that each individual can reach his or her full potential. Our commitment is to equality of opportunities and meeting the needs of all pupils regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, or educational need. Learning at Moss Hall is challenging, motivational, and rewarding. We have high expectations for all and are committed to delivering quality teaching and learning that will enable each individual to progress well and to achieve to the best of their ability. The relationships that we develop with our children, their families, and the wider community are key in helping each child to succeed and in acknowledging our shared responsibility for their progress. We want our children to be independent, confident, and curious learners and to this end, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum. In addition to the academic subjects required by the National Curriculum, we provide a wide range of enrichment activities too. We are especially proud of the opportunities offered through sport, music, and the creative arts – both during the school day and at school clubs. To enthuse and inspire all of our children we use a range of learning styles and environments. We plan to learn opportunities that require our children to listen, look and do, in their classrooms, in our extensive grounds, and out in the wider community too. We expect our children to ask questions, solve problems, and demonstrate a keenness to ‘have a go’ at a range of diverse challenges. We help our children to develop a useful bank of transferable skills and provide opportunities for them to practice and to apply them in assorted contexts. We believe that children learn effectively from each other, from school staff, and other adults and so we plan creative and practical opportunities for them to learn collaboratively with children from other classes and visitors and trips into the community too. Values-based Education is an approach to teaching that works with values. It creates a strong learning environment that enhances academic attainment and develops students’ social and relationship skills that last throughout their lives. A positive learning environment is achieved through the positive values modeled by staff throughout the school. It quickly liberates teachers and students from the stress of confrontational relationships, which frees up substantial teaching and learning time. It also provides social capacity to students, equipping them with social and relationship skills, intelligence, and attitudes to succeed in school and throughout their lives. We want our children to be socially, emotionally, spiritually, and culturally aware. We encourage them to be active participants in all aspects of school life and to be proud to make positive contributions to the wider community. In our nurturing and inclusive culture, we address the needs of each individual, ensuring that they feel happy, safe, and supported, in the knowledge that they are valued members of our school family. A global perspective, that celebrates diversity and respect for individual rights, pervades the school and helps us to nurture responsible citizens and independent thinkers. At Moseley, we provide a safe and healthy school environment that enables students to thrive. We want staff and students to work in an emotionally intelligent school where we acknowledge the fallibility of human beings and recognize the impact our actions and words have on others. Our pastoral system ensures that each student is cared for and their needs are met through effective partnerships with all our stakeholders, especially parents and carers. All students have opportunities to broaden their social and cultural horizons. The school provides a clear moral framework based on shared values in which the students feel safe and can flourish. Students are encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs, appreciate different views, and develop an understanding of their own identity and their self-worth. Moseley School and Sixth Form is a place where staff and students are aware of how personal and political decisions affect the future of the environment and their responsibility to help to sustain our planet. We are a caring community where positive personal relationships have a civilizing influence. We recognize the potential in everyone and we support and challenge everyone to achieve their potential. We provide opportunities for our students to develop leadership and resilience, demonstrate initiative, and improve their communication skills. High-quality inclusive teaching underpins everything we do at Moseley School. Assisted by experienced support staff, including Graduate Coaches, our dedicated teachers work hard to engage every student and bring learning to life. Lessons typically begin with exciting and stimulating challenges and activities. Teachers take the time and effort to get to know their pupils, as well as their academic backgrounds, talents, and individual learning needs. They then use a range of learning strategies to bring out the best in every child. Strong leadership, vertical tutoring, and a large pastoral team ensure that the individual needs of students are met and that timely support is provided to both students and families where this is required to remove barriers to learning. We expect all members of our school community to embrace our core values: Respect, Endeavour & Compassion. It is through expressing these values that we conduct all our conversations, work in and out of the classroom and build good relationships between students and staff. The curriculum contributes to the good spiritual, social, moral, and cultural development of students. This is achieved through the taught curriculum and the program of enrichment activities. The curriculum provision is also supported by a strong commitment to impartial career information, advice, and guidance.
- Our school was founded in 1828. We are a voluntary aided 1-form entry Church of England school with 210 children aged 4 to 11. We embrace strong links with the churches of St Mary’s, St Annes, and St Agnes and actively promote an open Christian ethos, encapsulated by our motto ‘Every Child Matters to God’. We set ourselves high targets and have high standards. We aim to make learning enjoyable, allowing every individual to achieve their best and to nurture their talents, as well as giving them confidence, security, and the skills they will need to be excellent citizens in a multi-cultural society and part of the workforce of the future. - MJPS is a cross-community, mixed school with 50% of our children coming from across the Jewish community and 50% local children of all faiths, beliefs, and none. We were delighted that Ofsted (2015) judged MJPS to be Outstanding in all areas and recognized that we have been successful in establishing a school community in which pupils of a wide range of faiths and cultures embrace and celebrate their diversity. As headteacher, I am dedicated to creating an environment in which our children can grow to their fullest potential as responsible members of the community and British society. Our ethos is summed up in the ancient Jewish hope: Inspiration – We inspire children to create their best possible journeys in life, with confidence in their own cultures, heritage, and beliefs. Respect – We develop self-respect and expand an understanding of respect within and across the Jewish and local communities, British society, and the wider world. Excellence – We enable children to reach their full potential, emotionally, socially, academically, and spiritually. We aim for our pupils to become lifelong learners inspired by a love of “learning for the sake of learning” through a rigorous comprehensive academic program of general and Jewish learning which places a priority on critical, independent, and creative thought and expression. We aspire to create a strong sense of community in school and to pursue excellence in delivering our integrated Jewish curriculum and the full National Curriculum. By inspiring and stimulating children’s interests the MJPS team motivates children to engage enthusiastically in their learning. The Mosaic Jewish Primary School is a cross-communal, mixed school, dedicated to creating an environment in which children can grow to their fullest potential as responsible and dedicated members of the Jewish community and British society. The school opened in September 2013 under the Government’s Free School Initiative, with a reception class, incorporating progressively all year groups. This means that by the time the first children reach Year 6 in 2019 there will be up to 360 children in the school. The school is independent of any synagogue authority and welcomes pupils of all denominations and levels of religious observance as well as non-Jewish pupils who wish to share in the high standards of academic achievement we deliver. Our pupils become lifelong learners inspired by a love of “learning for the sake of learning” through a rigorous comprehensive academic program of general and Jewish studies which places a priority on critical, independent, and creative thought and expression. At the same time, our pupils are encouraged to understand and appreciate the wisdom, spiritual depth, and ethical guidance of Judaism. Our school strives for academic excellence through a balanced curriculum of strong general coursework based on the national curriculum and a comprehensive Jewish studies program. The introduction of Hebrew emphasizes the connection to Jewish history and culture. Our interdisciplinary approach highlights experiential learning across all subjects and helps students develop critical thinking, logical reasoning, creativity, and strong writing skills. We have developed a creative curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and National Curriculum. We teach within a caring and nurturing environment which develops the potential of all children, building their self-esteem and confidence to enable them to develop the skills to think and learn effectively. We emphasize learning through cross-curricular links and real experiences. We appreciate that children learn by doing and being able to take an active part in their learning, which will enable them to build effectively on their interests and previous experiences. We recognize the importance of preparing children for life in an ever-changing world and the need for them to develop the skills to become independent and thoughtful learners who can find and evaluate the information for themselves. We help prepare children to live active and purposeful lives as adults. Our ethos is summed up in the ancient Jewish hope: “May our children be our builders” and is based on the following three aspirations: Inspiration: To inspire children to create their best possible journeys in life, with confidence in their own cultures, heritage, and beliefs. Respect: To develop self-respect and expand it within and across the Jewish community, British society, and the wider world. Excellence: To enable children to reach their full potential, emotionally, socially, academically, and spiritually. We recognize that children often require additional support that is ‘additional to’ and ‘different from other children in a class. Teaching staff at MJPS are committed to ensuring that learning is individualized ensuring that each child is motivated and challenged at their level. Teachers work hard to get to know children and families from the outset ensuring that they can meet a range of differing needs and learning styles, which aims to provide the child with special support to achieve measurable and realistic targets. Children who have a specific area of need are given a SEND Support Plan which is reviewed throughout the year. Children, parents, and the school are very much part of this process. We recognize that having a child with a specific need can be challenging and at times frustrating. We are fully committed to supporting any children with additional needs providing them with the very best education possible. At Mosaic Jewish Primary School we believe that all children should receive an education that motivates and allows them to succeed and achieve. We strive to provide creative and challenging lessons that meet the needs of the individual. It is important to note that our Gifted and Talented (G&T) register is fluid and flexible and therefore your child will not necessarily remain on it indefinitely. It is monitored, reviewed, and updated on a termly basis. View full school

- Morningside is a 3-11 two-form entry primary school with a Children’s Centre. The community is culturally and ethnically diverse and we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school. We have 2 classes in each year group with 30 pupils in each class. We have 2 Nursery classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The school will admit 38 children to the Nursery class each year. Priority will be given to children in public care. The places will be broken down into two categories. 19 places will be allocated to the AM slot, and 19 places will be allocated to the PM slot. We will need to get confirmation from Children Social Care for priorities 1 and 2. Also if we need a tie-breaker decision for priorities 1, 2, and 4, we will use distance, as measured in item 5 above. If two applicants live the same distance from the school, the place with being allocated by lottery. This will be carried out by the Admissions Team in the presence of an independent witness. If a family lives on a boat, the distance will be measured from an authorized mooring point. If the family is traveling from place to place, the nearest mooring point with being used on the closing date for the receipt of applications. Children across the school are taught net games i.e basketball, netball, and football alongside dance, gymnastics, and yoga. In the summer, they focus on fitness and athletics as well as games such as rounders and cricket. The skill focus changes across the year groups to ensure progression as they go up the school. Children also have the opportunity to learn how to swim. When we work out distances, we use geographical information provided by the local council. If several addresses have the same geographical property reference (such as a block of flats), or if several applicants are living the same distance away from the school, the allocation of a place will be decided by the lottery. Where parental responsibilities are equally shared, we will consider the home address to be the place where the child sleeps, and spends most of their time, from Monday to Friday. Normally this will be with the parent/carer who receives Child Benefit for that child. The internet hosts many exciting opportunities for education. The online world is a wonderful place for young people to explore, with unprecedented opportunities for learning and creativity, but just like the real world there are risks and dangers they should be aware of and which we should all act to protect them from. At Morningside, we encourage the use of technology as an important part of our students’ development but always want them to spend their time online safely. In school, we have an internet safety code of conduct that all pupils and staff are expected to adhere to. We have strong and constantly updated filters in place to protect and govern internet use. ‘The Morningside Web Outlaws!’ provide interesting characters which show children many of the real risks and dangers they could find online and what steps to take to keep themselves safe. E-safety is an important part of each computing lesson from Year 1 to Year 6 and children learn about a range of issues such as keeping personal information private and cyberbullying. Children in the Early Years learn about e-safety through stories and other relevant media. Morningside celebrates Safer Internet Day each year which focuses on children thinking about their role in creating a safer internet community for everyone. We are a group of schools working together because we believe our schools can gain many benefits from working collaboratively. We have committed to a shared responsibility to the wider school community, the provision of good quality education, and the improvement of life chances for pupils in the community beyond that of our schools. Teachers, support staff, school leaders, and Governors have added expertise in working alongside colleagues to improve provision and outcomes for pupils. The Morningside school council has the important job of seeking the views of all pupils and sharing them with the adults in school. They make sure that everyone’s voice is heard. They hold a class council meeting, every fortnight, where the feedback from the previous school council and then ask for feedback and areas for discussion. The individuals in each class can add to this agenda and the councilors make sure that everyone has a turn. During the intervening weeks, the school council meets with Janet to discuss the ideas and input from their class. The Pupil Premium is an additional amount of money given to schools, on top of their main budget. Every school receives a fixed amount of money per pupil for all pupils meeting certain criteria. The main criterion is eligibility for free school meals at any given point within the last 6 years or those children who have been cared for by the Local Authority for at least 6 months. The money is provided to schools so that we can raise attainment and progress for this group of pupils. Physical Education is taught across the school by specialist coaches from BADU Sports. Through the use of coaches, we hope children can increase their knowledge regarding the rules of sports, the importance of teamwork, and how fitness affects the body. We also desire that children find enjoyment in sports and display good sportsmanship when faced with challenges. Mount Rd, Bury Saint Edmunds IP32 7BJ View full school
