- Sindh Madressatul Islam University is a chartered University, duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. It is one of the oldest institutions in South Asia. The Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, studied at this institution for about four and a half years from 1887-92. Its campus is located in the commercial hub of Karachi, near I.I. Chundrigar Road (old McLeod Road) in the vicinity of Habib Bank Plaza and MCB Tower. It is spread over more than eight acres of land and comprises some of the most beautiful colonial-era buildings designed by architect James Strachan in the 1880s. The SMI University has started with five departments, each offering graduate and undergraduate programs. The departments are Media and Communication Studies, Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences and Education. The University is privileged to have highly qualified and devoted faculty with Ph.D., M.Phil, and Masters from the best national and international universities. It has the largest number of Ph.D. faculty members amongst the newly established universities in Pakistan. It has spacious classrooms equipped with air conditioners, multimedia projectors, designed furniture, etc. SMIU has also the distinction of establishing the state of the art television studio and FM Radio studio to serve as its broadcasting laboratories. Both the studios offer hands-on training to the students as well as working journalists. The Information Technology laboratories of the University are equipped with the latest computers, laptops, scanners, printers, multimedia projectors, and other technical equipment. The labs are managed by highly qualified technical staff. It provides free internet service through Wi-Fi. All University computers are provided with super high-speed links for accessing research journals, research repositories on the internet, electronic libraries, and e-mail. SMIU is continuously improving its facilities with cutting-edge technology. The University has Jinnah Museum also, which contains the relics associated with the founder of the institution, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi, as well as educational records of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other alumni. It has recently established an archives section also, where the important record is being preserved. The students and faculty are encouraged to carry on visits to the places relating to their professional interests as well as go for recreational visits in form of groups under the supervision of University professors. In addition to these facilities at its main campus, the University is also in the process of building its additional campus in the newly launched Education City, in the vicinity of Karachi, where 100 acres of land have been allotted to SMIU. - The Noor Ul Islam Trust is a Registered Charity based in London, UK, and is run by Muslim brothers and sisters. The Trust provides a whole range of services to the local community. Since 1990, when it opened its Head Office at High Road, Leyton, London El0, the Trust has provided the local, national and international community with welfare services. Originally the Trust started with a place of worship. but after analyzing the needs of Muslims, a community center was established. The Noor Ul Islam Primary School started in September 2001. Noor Ul Islam sits on advisory bodies to help the local authority identify the needs of the Muslims in the area. Working with other organizations, Noor Ul Islam is trying to build a stronger Ummah. The name of Sheik-Yusuf that bear the name of the University history briefly as follows: Shaykh-Joseph is a scholar as well as a fighter. Thanks to his services, he was given the title of national hero by the state. Shaykh-Joseph was born on July 3, 1626, in Lakiung Makassar. His father was Sultan Alauddin King of Gowa to 14 (1593-1693), while his mother was Siti Aminah, the daughter of a headman. At the age of 18, Sheikh-Joseph has been migrated to other regions, leaving the kingdom of Gowa. Over the past five years, Sheikh-Joseph settled in Banten to study religion. To add to his knowledge, he then migrated to Yemen's land to demand science-Abi Tarekat to Sheikh Abdullah. As a young man whose thirst for knowledge, Sheik-Yusuf continued his studies in several cities in the Arab world for more than 15 years. During the colony, Sheik-Yusuf was known as a scholar wise. The Sultan then knew Yusuf Sheikh-name fame of Banten, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. In 1664, the Sheikh-Joseph was called by Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa to teach sons and daughters of the Sultan of Banten. Sultan later married his daughter named Syarifah by Shaykh-Joseph. Decades ago, precisely in 1682, the Dutch invaded Banten. From the raid, Netherlands capture the Sultan. Shaykh-Joseph, who was already appointed as Duke, then continue the struggle against the Dutch colonialists Sultan and directly lead the struggle. - History of the birth of UIN North Sumatra is a long journey from the birth and dynamics of higher education institutions that previously still status 'institute' namely the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of North Sumatra. The desire to change the status of IAIN SU into a university is undoubtedly based on a passionate spirit to improve the quality of education with a mandate more sweeping in various fields in North Sumatra, specifically, Indonesia and Southeast Asia in general. Along with the planned transfer of status, then internally, IAIN North Sumatra keep trying to fix themselves, both in academic, administrative, and institutional facilities and infrastructure. Externally, these efforts have received funding commitments from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of Indonesia (GoI), which are now being used for various academic and institutional development activities. From the Local Government of North Sumatra, IAIN SU has secured a commitment to procure a new 400-hectare campus area to develop an integrated campus in the future. To realize all it would need the contribution of society and academic community to encourage the development of IAIN / UIN North Sumatra towards the better, advanced, and quality. With the efforts that have been made and the blessing of prayer for all academic community, IAIN SU's status as State Islamic University (UIN) of North Sumatra has been approved by Presidential Decree no. 131/2014 dated October 16, 2014, by President Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
