  1. Stockbridge Primary is a City of Edinburgh local authority school. We are a non-denominational school and welcome children of all faiths or none, from ages 3 to 12. We are fortunate in enjoying extensive, flexible facilities in traditional yet modernized buildings. All class areas have interactive whiteboards installed. The main school is housed in a listed Victorian building designed by award-winning architect Rowan Anderson. In addition to the 7 classrooms in the main building, there is a dining room/gym/assembly hall, a Support for Learning base, an Early Years Base, a Middle Years Base, Main School Office, Administration Room, Head Teacher’s Office, Management room, Resource room, Staff Room and Kitchen. A Georgian annex accommodates our Nursery, 2 classrooms, Staff Office, and a General Purpose room used for Drama, Music Cooking, etc. This GP space also houses a school-run Breakfast Club and an independent After School Club. The school grounds include garden areas picnic and seating areas, a sound garden, a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a trim trail, an adventure trail, a traversing wall as well as tarmac play areas. The school grounds have been developed over the years by staff and parents. Our Nursery outdoor area includes planting beds, a ‘Junk Orchestra’ area, and a permanent climbing frame incorporating a den and slide. This year we have developed our outdoor learning area further by building large sand and willow den area. The staff, pupils, and PSA have also worked very hard by fundraising and making grant applications to improve the main school playground. This year the Eco Warriors Community Group and classes have worked to maintain our ‘edible hedge’ at the front of the school, which is part of a shared project with our partner school in Malawi. We also grow a range of fruits, vegetables, and flowers in our sanctuary garden/raised beds and have participated in the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Schools Daffodil Competition and Spring Show, gaining a Silver certificate. At Stockbridge Primary our aim is : To inspire and encourage children to be active participants in their learning, be ambitious, and foster self-esteem and resilience. To provide a wide range of teaching and learning opportunities of the highest quality, including developing creative and enterprising approaches. To create a positive, caring environment where children feel safe, happy, and confident and where children, staff, parents, and visitors feel valued and respected. To continue developing our involvement in the wider community and to encourage the community to share in the life of the school. To deliver a broad, well-balanced curriculum where each child is encouraged to fulfill their potential. To develop professionally and build on the strengths we possess as a team to promote lifelong learning for all. To actively promote healthy attitudes and behaviors for the whole school community and care for the emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals within it. To provide equal opportunities for all pupils, recognizing individual needs and celebrating cultural diversity and wider achievement. To promote in each child a responsible attitude towards his/her environment, their learning, and the wider world. To continue to develop relevant and integrated school policies, and have resources in place to support these. View full school

  3. Stirchley Primary School is a happy and caring place where we have high expectations of all our children and staff. We provide a secure and stimulating environment in which children can develop to their full potential. We believe that every child has a right to quality education and that this is more easily achieved when parents and schools work together in partnership. A values-based school seeks to promote an educational philosophy based on valuing self, others, and the environment through the consideration of an ethical values vocabulary (principles that guide behavior), as the basis of good educational practice. It encourages adults to model values and to give time for reflective practices that empower individuals to be effective learners and good citizens. Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safely, through the provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms safely, for example through our E-Safety and PHSE lessons, friendship decisions, and extra-curricular preferences. Part of our ethos and behavior policy has revolved around Core Values such as ‘Respect’, and pupils take part in discussions in assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown. All members of the school community are encouraged to show each other respect. Posters around the school promote respect for others and this is reiterated through our classroom and learning rules, as well as our behavior policy. At Stirchley, we place great emphasis on preparing children for life in the modern world. We aim to equip them with both the personal, social and academic skills to enable them to be happy, fulfilled, and confident members of society who can reach their full potential. To achieve this we teach a subject-based curriculum where key skills and 2014 revised National Curriculum programs of study are taught side by side to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for our children. At Stirchley, foundation subjects are taught discretely to ensure that our children are receiving broad and equal coverage of each subject area. Often these subjects are broken down into separate topics to provide a context for our learners. Teachers at Stirchley Primary School endeavor to teach in a creative and stimulating way to provide our children with interesting and memorable learning experiences. We take the children on regular educational visits to provide inspiring and varied learning opportunities and we regularly invite visitors into school to offer insight from a different perspective. 5. At Stillness Junior School we value the individuality of all our children and we strive to meet the needs of every child. We are a place where skills and competencies are taught and the foundations of education are laid. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all of our staff and parents/carers to share in this commitment. Children are taught how to learn and develop good habits in their work that provide for the future, such as planning, organizing, listening, explaining, researching, and co-operating. Our curriculum is broad, balanced, engaging, and exciting and we have high expectations for all children. We seek to inspire positive attitudes, a sense of achievement, confidence to widen their horizons and promote respect for others. We encourage the individuality of all children, irrespective of ethnicity, attainment, age, disability, gender, or social background. We teach children they are valued, that their opinions matter, and involve them whenever possible in the running of the school. We recognize the crucial importance of the home-school partnership and work hard to develop positive partnerships with parents and carers. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children, and staff at school. When we engage with values we start to understand their implications for making choices about our attitudes and responses. A Values-based approach encourages reflective and aspirational attributes and attitudes. These can be nurtured to help people discover the very best of themselves, which enables them to be good citizens and prepare them for the life of work. Each month our newsletters contain our 'Value of the Month' so that you can use this at home. 9. For over 150 years, Stewart’s Melville College, in Edinburgh, Scotland has been educating boys. Voted The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in 2013, here your son can enjoy all the strengths of a traditional boys’ school. The staff at Stewart's Melville College understand boys and the school environment is designed solely with the needs of teenage boys in mind. Our school offers the Scottish curriculum and first-class teaching and we strongly believe in our nine school values which lie at the heart of everything we do at Stewart's Melville College. The nine values - kindness, respect, commitment, enthusiasm, responsibility, grace, appreciation, confidence, and integrity - are recognized and followed by all members of the school community and, as a result, we are confident that our boys will grow up to be, in simple terms, good people who will make a positive difference to the world in which they will live and work. Your son will benefit from all of the advantages of single-sex education but, as part of the ESMS family of schools, the school is closely twinned with The Mary Erskine School for girls through a shared House system and co-education for many activities, including trips, shows, concerts, orchestras, bands, and societies. We also offer a co-educational Sixth Form which offers a genuine pre-University experience to further help prepare your son for University and life. For those boys who live further away from school, we offer a daily coach service across Edinburgh, the Lothians, and Fife and also offer Boarding facilities in a small boarding house for boys, with a capacity of 30, which provides a comfortable, close-knit and happy home from home for children from Primary 6 to Sixth Form. Find out more about Boarding for Boys. At Stewart’s Melville College we can offer your son extraordinary opportunities. Boys from the school have represented their country at sport, formed The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo choir, performed in professional West End touring shows, and go on incredible trips to diverse locations including Malawi, Vietnam, New Zealand, South Africa, and China. At Stewart's Melville College we are committed to single-sex education at senior school. Young children enjoy each other's company when they are playing and learning together in the classroom but as they move into secondary education and become teenagers boys and girls can inhibit each other. The boys of Stewart's Melville College are proud to be boys and they understand the importance of academic success. High academic and personal standards are assumed and boys are challenged at all times to set their expectations very high. 5 reasons to choose an all boys' education at Stewart's Melville College: We offer the boys academic challenges which reflect their natural way of learning. They respond with enthusiasm to inspirational leadership, they value competition and they perform at their best when they grow up in an environment in which only their best is good enough. Boys can be themselves, developing their interests and talents in subjects and areas which may not fit traditional gender stereotypes Boys learn differently from girls. The staff at Stewart's Melville College understand how boys learn and the school environment is designed solely with the needs of teenage boys in mind We instill strong values in our boys and our nine school values - respect, kindness, integrity, grace, responsibility, commitment, enthusiasm, appreciation, and confidence - underpin everything we do in school, thus allowing the boys to become compassionate and caring young men While the boys enjoy the academic advantages of single-sex education they also benefit from the social gains of mixing with the girls of The Mary Erskine School through the shared House system and combined activities including trips, concerts, bands, and orchestras, performing arts, and many others Throughout their time at Stewart's Melville College, the boys are afforded the time and space to develop into outstanding young men after which their co-educational Sixth Form year then prepares them for University and the wider world. 11. We are a two-form entry community primary school maintained by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We have a Foundation Stage and admit children from three to eleven years old. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our happy, successful, vibrant, and caring school. We see parents/carers as partners in the education of their children, and greatly value their contribution to school life. Children thrive when they feel happy, safe, and respected, and when they are set for challenging and stimulating work. We are committed to lifelong learning and have a thriving learning center for parents and the local community on site. We aim to: Develop a friendly, supportive, and forward-looking school that inspires everyone to achieve their best and make positive contributions. Deliver a rich, creative, and stimulating curriculum to raise the attainment of all children. Encourage and promote independence, self-discipline, and excellent standards of teaching and learning. Build an inclusive school community whereby all parents, children, and staff feel safe, proud, respected, and valued. As part of the curriculum, we have specialist teachers for Art and Music, who provide excellent art and music learning opportunities. We enrich our curriculum with theatre companies who come to provide drama and music workshops covering many of our topics. Children also have opportunities for off-site learning through visits to places of interest and learning, which are linked to topics. Year 6 also has the opportunity to stay in Kent for a week-long residential trip, where they learn through field experiments and outdoor learning. In our school, we recently introduced an amazing new scheme called JIGSAW. JIGSAW brings together PSHE Education, emotional literacy, social skills, and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Teaching strategies are varied and are mindful of preferred learning styles and the need for differentiation. Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each theme to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike. The whole scheme is designed with six themes (Puzzles) for six half terms. All themes include the use of The Jigsaw Circle. The Jigsaw Circle is a tried and tested teaching approach, popularised most successfully in recent years by Jenny Mosley. It brings children and adults together to feel equal and valued so that they can share ideas, thoughts, and feelings. The aims of learning French at Stewart Headlam are to foster an interest in learning another language and to make it fun, to make children aware that language has structure and that the structure differs from one language to another, and finally to lay the foundations for future study. 15. Stepney Greencoat School was founded in 1710 by leading community members from the Hamlet of Ratcliff, to educate 110 local children. It has developed and grown with the area over the last three centuries, meeting the needs of the community as it transformed from an industrial dockyard to the socially mixed, multicultural settlement that it is today. The school is proud of its rich history and looking forward to forging ahead into the future whilst continuing to play a vital role in local life for centuries to come. Stepney Greencoat is a small and welcoming Church of England Primary School in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We are a good school and are committed to improving further with a clear focus on maximizing the achievement and progress of each child. With so many larger primary schools within Tower Hamlets, we feel blessed to be a one-form entry school. Our smaller size means that everyone in the school knows everyone else. This means that our pupils feel safe, happy, and special. In consultation with our children, governors, parents, and carers, and staff we have put together the following vision, ethos, and values for the next few years for our School. In as few words as possible, we have tried to come up with a statement that best captures what we are trying to do at Stepney Greencoat. Here it is: Helping children to flourish in a safe, diverse, and inclusive Christian environment. To explain this vision statement a little more and to put some markers down as to what each phrase means, we have a few paragraphs below on our distinctive and characteristics as a school. We are: “Helping children to flourish.” Here at Stepney Greencoat School, we believe each child is an individual with their special talents. We will strive to enable them individually and together to realize their full potential and to make school a happy experience for them. To this end, we aim to provide a high level of teaching, partner with parents and carers, and provide an education that is ‘more than SATS’. We are entrusted with children and work hard to keep them safe and secure. We delight in being part of a diverse community in Tower Hamlets, which also sadly includes high levels of child poverty and deprivation. We are glad to have children with a range of abilities and from a variety of ethnic, religious, and family backgrounds. We work hard to involve everyone in the whole life of the School because all people are made in God’s image and worthy of respect and honor. The School was founded over 300 years ago out of strong Christian convictions. We are keen to maintain this basis. From this flows our desire for all our children to grow, flourish and be safe while they are with us. We are keen that Christian teaching on love, forgiveness, hard work, and justice are embedded in the School, as we follow the God who is loving and just. We have a diverse school community of pupils, families, staff, and governors and we learn and work in partnership together to ensure that all children flourish at our school. We are extremely proud of the confident, courteous, and well-mannered children we have at Stepney Greencoat. We challenge our children to bring out the best in themselves, to respect and value each other, and to take pleasure from the success of others whilst offering support to those who may need it. 17. Stepney Green Maths, Computing & Science College is a boys’ comprehensive school and one of the top schools in the Borough. We are heavily over-subscribed with long waiting lists. The majority of families are from Bangladesh and therefore most of the students are members of the Muslim faith. We have a small but increasing number of students from other communities. The school is located in the East End of London, close to Canary Wharf and docklands, in an area of social and economic disadvantage but also exciting new opportunities. It is close to residential riverside developments and no more than a mile from the City of London. At Stepney Green Maths, Computing & Science College our vision is to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to gain the qualifications and skills required for them to take their rightful place in a global community. To us, every child matters and we work together with our families to realize our students’ dreams and aspirations. At Stepney Green there is a real drive for academic excellence, coupled with an approach to develop the whole person, making learning enjoyable and exciting. In 2011, Ofsted judged the school as “Outstanding”, and these included teaching and learning, leadership and management, and parents/community links. DCSF has identified the school as a ‘High Performing Specialist School’ and the borough has reclassified the school as Outstanding. We have also gained a second specialism, which is in Science. Our sporting accomplishments are outstanding, our parents are extremely supportive and our staffs are committed to improving their practice. The Governing Body is fully supportive and keen to see Stepney Green realize its potential as a center of excellence for learning and achievement. The school benefits from a variety of funding including Excellence in Cities, National Grid for Learning, Behaviour Improvement Plan, and is part of the Building Schools for the Future program. Stepney Green Maths, Computing & Science College is a vibrant and exciting place to teach, with staff who are extremely supportive of each other. We are very pleased with the improvements we have made but we are also determined to make further progress in the future. We are committed to the idea of continuous school improvement, providing all staff (particularly those new to the school) with excellent training and support, and building a learning community for all. The mission of Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College is to develop, motivate, and inspire our pupils, enabling them to succeed in life. Our vision is for all individuals at Stepney Green Maths & Computing College to be successful learners, who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. Together we aspire to become creative, confident people who can live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives, thus ensuring we are all responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society. We are committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education for all our students. We believe that all children and young people - including those identified with special educational needs and disabilities - have a common entitlement to be fully included in aspects of school life and must have access to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. Part of our mission is to ensure all our students make good academic progress, and “become creative, confident people who can live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives”. To this end, our objective is to ensure a wide range of extended school provisions to meet the needs of our school and the wider community. We work with the gradually expanding “Stepney Partnership” to bring together children, families, and staff across the partnership schools of primary and secondary to share fun activities, new experiences, understanding of each other, and expertise. All our students are included on our school trips and we often target different groups to ensure all have the chance to experience new adventures and a different way of learning. We make adjustments to accommodate those with additional needs and ensure all feel welcome and comfortable joining in. Rigorous assessments are made to ensure student's needs are met, safety is of the highest standard, any risk factors are minimal, and thorough evaluations help to inform future planning. 21. We are a family of schools in Cambridge, Madingley and Saffron Walden educating boys and girls aged 1 to 18. Founded in 1881, our history is part of Cambridge’s rich academic past. Today, our vision and learning toolkit is firmly focused on the future, as we prepare young people for life in an ever-changing, global and digital world. By recognizing our pupils as individuals - with unique hopes, talents, and ambitions - we unlock their true potential. We enjoy learning for its own sake. Our teachers ignite curiosity, encourage critical thinking and creativity. By learning to think for themselves our pupils go on to achieve outstanding results. But for us, education is not just about grades. It is about the strength of character, a sense of social responsibility, learning to innovate, communicate and collaborate. Education needs to prepare youngsters for life beyond tests, exams, and certificates. Our pupils gain an exceptional skill-set, one that prepares them for life in tomorrow's world. They leave us ready to make their mark and achieve their dreams. Dr. Stephen Perse was a man of vision who, back in the 17th century, believed that education should be a right rather than a privilege, accessible to those with ability rather than dependent on income. Dr. Perse, a fellow of Gonville and Caius College at the University of Cambridge died in 1615 and his Will included a bequest of land for the establishment of a 'Grammar Free School'. Panton HouseThe land became The Perse School, originally reserved for boys, but in 1881 the Perse School for Girls opened as part of the 19th-century movement to educate women. From the Perse School for Girls, we have evolved to become the Stephen Perse Foundation. In more recent years we have grown, and we now provide a complete educational pathway for boys and girls from age 1 to 18. Our co-educational Sixth Form College opened in 2008 and our Pre-Prep welcomed girls and boys to Madingley in 2010. In 2013, the Sunday Times named us the IB School of the Year for the second time. We also expanded our family of schools by merging with Dame Bradbury's School in Saffron Walden. Girls and boys in Rosedale HouseRosedale House welcomed boys for the first time in September 2014, and our Senior School followed in September 2017, establishing our innovative diamond model and allowing us to offer boys the same access to our excellent education as girls. In 2014, we won the coveted title of Independent School of the Year for "reinventing the school and creating a community of learners fit for the 21st century". In 2018, we welcomed Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies (CCSS) to the Foundation's family of schools, a college similar in size to our Sixth Form with a shared vision and values for education. This also enabled us to offer boarding across our whole sixth form offering, starting from September 2019. We have a clear vision for the future of education. As an Apple Distinguished School, we are now leading the digital learning revolution, with our pupils using iPads as virtual satchels and unlocking new ways to learn and collaborate. Dynamic and inspiring learning spaces are an important piece of our toolkit. We make use of Cambridge as our campus and enjoy first-class facilities within our schools. Rooftop sports pitch have most recently completed a pioneering building project on our Senior School site that is already being enjoyed by students from across the Foundation: a five-story building with a rooftop sports pitch (the first of its kind in Cambridge), a Sport England standard four-court sports hall, activity space with viewing area, ten classrooms and an additional learning hub. Sand and water play, music and drama, construction, imaginative play, cooking, drawing and painting, jigsaws, clay, and woodwork are just some of the activities on offer. There is direct access to the outdoor area and the opportunity for energetic play. This safe and friendly atmosphere promotes confidence and self-esteem and lays the groundwork for a smooth transition from nursery to primary school. There are many opportunities for parental involvement. Two classes house children with language and communication difficulties, one class for P1 – P3 and the other for P4 – P7 pupils. Places in the class are awarded by an authoritative body that considers the needs of all Edinburgh children. Taxi transport is provided. There is regular mainstream contact with peer group classes, whilst specific individual needs are met within the language class. Staff, other professionals, parents, and children work together so that the curricular and social needs of each child are met. Every child has an Individualised Education Programme which is updated in January and May. Annual reviews are held in January when everyone involved is present to discuss recent progress and future needs. The Speech and Language Therapist provides intensive support which is tailored to the needs of each child. A home/school notebook is used so that staff and parents can exchange information, daily, relating to the children's participation in home and school activities. We are committed to advancing equality of opportunity for all and we work actively towards 2 eliminating all forms of bullying and discrimination. At Stenhouse, we aim to take a restorative approach to resolve conflict and preventing harm. Restorative approaches enable those who have been harmed to convey the impact of the harm to those responsible, and for those responsible to acknowledge this impact and take steps to put it right.

At Stechford Primary School the curriculum subjects support each other to allow each child to achieve their full potential. Stechford School we are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum. As part of this ethos, we believe that children should be taught the values and standards which will ensure our pupils become happy and productive citizens. We believe that these skills equip children for a safe and successful life. At Stechford School, as with a great number of Birmingham schools, we follow the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus. The curriculum was designed with input from all the represented religions in the area and it is designed to meet all statutory requirements. While it is extremely rare, it is the right of parents to withdraw their children from R.E. and related activities. The School procedure is that any parent wishing to withdraw their child from any activity should in the first instance contact the class teacher. The request may then be passed on to a member of the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate. At Stechford Primary School we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of our staff, our pupils, and their families. We learn about British Values through a variety of events and our curriculum includes lessons, assemblies, and performances to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world. We know that the components of British Values are not exclusively “British” and are held dear by other nationalities, schools must keep children safe and prepare them for life in modern Britain. At Stechford Primary School we take our responsibility to promote 'British Values' as integral to all our practice. We also recognize that the values we represent and teach are common to many communities and groups. We wish to equip our children to be productive and content members of society, to this end, Stechford Primary School has produced the Skills And Values Education curriculum (S.A.V.E.). Through our weekly SAVE lessons, we promote the values and responsibilities of being a good citizen and provide the children with valuable life skills which will allow them to be healthy, happy and feel as though they are a valued citizen.
