St Anthony’s School for Girls is an independent Catholic school located in Ivy House, on North End Road, NW11. It opened in 2016 as the sister school to the highly successful St. Anthony’s School for Boys in Hampstead. St Wilfrid's is a one and a half form entry Church of England Primary school with an intake of 45 children each September. We also have a Pre- School Nursery which offers 15 hours per week placements and wraparound care. We have two Reception classes. The first school to serve the Northenden area was Sharston National School built in 1810 and later the Northenden National School was founded on the present Tesco site. After the closure of this school and Shadow Moss Primary School near Manchester Airport, St Wilfrid's Junior School was opened in 1961 as a two-form entry junior school. It consisted of eight classrooms, a large hall, a kitchen, and extensive playing fields. As a result of falling numbers in Northenden, in 1983 a merger took place between St Wilfrid's Juniors and Royle Green Infants. St Wilfrid's C of E Primary School was thus formed as a one-form entry school. However, in response to increased requests for places, a new 45 place nursery was opened, together with four new infant classrooms. This opened in January 1997 and the school became a one and a half form entry school. When parents come to St Wilfrid's CE Primary for the first time, we often hear them marveling at the caring, nurturing, family atmosphere. We help the children to consider world problems such as famines and disasters, environmental issues, and local concerns and we support their efforts to alleviate the suffering and hardships of others. St Wilfrid's is recognized as a National Healthy School, and we continually educate, encourage and support all of our children in living healthy lifestyles through eating, physical activity, emotional well-being, and PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education). This contributes significantly to providing all our children with the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes to make decisions about being and staying safe while enjoying and achieving in what they do. We work with Evolve, a social impact company, to help provide children with high-quality PE lessons and a range of after-school clubs. As part of the Catholic Community, here at St Wilfrid’s, we try our very best to follow the teachings of the Gospel. Working in partnership with our families and parish, we strive to live together inside of school and outside of it too, as a loving community, interacting with others by following the example of Jesus. St.Vincent’s offers the full National Curriculum and simultaneous ‘enrichment’ strategies highlighting and enhancing individual pupil strengths. These strengths we signpost towards friendship groups, employment, traineeships, and apprenticeships in providing the best possible opportunities for the outcomes our pupils and parents seek. Since 1850 we have had a tradition of excellence in the education and care of children with visual impairment. We cater for pupils from Foundation Stage to Post 16, offering day, extended day, and residential placements. We are the only Church school in England for Visually Impaired children and we celebrate and value the faith traditions of all pupils. Our pupils are from across the country including Wales. All pupils have a Statement of Special Educational Need or Education Health and Care Plan. Every pupil has an Individual Education and Care Plan. Curriculum provision is broad and balanced focusing on the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum and the individual needs of our pupils. In addition to the Core and Foundation curriculum, our pupils access the ‘additional VI curriculum’ that enables them to realize their true potential. This is provided for by the specialist training that all our staff has received in visual impairment. The highly experienced Learning Support and Care Team work closely with pupils and teachers to ensure optimum access to the curriculum. The curriculum is enhanced by complementary working with Specialist Therapists. These include individually programmed sessions in Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Educational Psychological support, and Music Therapy. The wide academic range sees pupils achieving well at GCSE and other nationally standardized examinations, to those whose progress is determined at P Levels.
