- To provide a quality International & National Curriculum. Supported by the Montessori method of learning. Combined with The Leader in Me – ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Delivered by Qualified Teachers who are continuing to develop their knowledge and skills. In a Quality Environment, which is safe, comfortable, and nurturing. Where children can grow and develop their own individual personal qualities and talents. Woodlands will strive to Empower Children by providing a Comprehensive Academic Curriculum and Holistic Approach to Learning creating Intelligent, Independent, and Responsible Individuals. The Montessori Method of teaching aims for the fullest possible development of the whole child, ultimately preparing him/her for lives many rich experiences. Complemented by her training in medicine, psychology, and anthropology, Dr. Maria Montessori (1870 - 1952) developed her philosophy of education based upon actual observations of children. Children pass through sensitive periods of development early in life. Dr. Montessori described the child's mind between the time of birth and six years of age as the "absorbent mind". It is during this stage that a child has a tremendous ability to learn and assimilate from the world around him/her, without conscious effort. During this time, children are particularly receptive to certain external stimuli. A Montessori teacher recognizes and takes advantage of these highly perceptive stages through the introduction of materials and activities which are specially designed to stimulate the intellect. Encouraged to focus his/her attention on one particular quality, the child works at his/her own optimum level – in an environment where beauty and orderliness are emphasized and appreciated. A spontaneous love of "work" is revealed as the child is given the freedom (within boundaries) to make his/her own choices. Montessori teachers are trained facilitators in the classroom, always ready to assist and direct. Their purpose is to stimulate the child's enthusiasm for learning and to guide it, without interfering with the child's natural desire to teach him/herself and become independent. Each child works through his/her individual cycle of activities and learns to truly understand according to his/her own unique needs and capabilities. Everything in a Montessori classroom has a specific use or purpose. There is nothing in the prepared environment that the child cannot see or touch. All of the furniture and equipment is scaled down to the child's size and is within easy reach. A quality Montessori classroom has a busy, productive atmosphere where joy and respect abound. Within such an enriched environment, freedom, responsibility, and social and intellectual development spontaneously flourish! View full school

- Our whole school community makes St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School special – the students, the parents, the staff, the old scholars, and our supporters. If you have a community that values rigor and excellence in education, safety, and hope for children, you will have successful children. Everything we do is focussed on that partnership, the ethos of the community. We are blessed to develop young lives in a beautiful physical setting surrounded by superb buildings and gardens. It is undoubtedly a stimulating and creative environment for our future leaders. While we love our local area of Glenelg and our state, we are also an International Baccalaureate Organisation World School that offers the Primary Years Program, one of many recognized throughout the world. We are an internationally-minded educational institution, part of a much wider universe and culture. We will nurture our students to be happy, knowledgeable, and creative young people who care for others and make a positive difference in the world. Our Values are Approaching each day with curiosity and appreciation, sharing fun and happiness, and expressing gratitude. Always doing our best being honest, strong and standing up for what is right. Being true to yourself, appreciating other people and cultures, and caring for the environment. Helping others, contributing to the community, and being a good citizen. SPW encourages students to find joy and enlightenment in their education, giving them the best opportunity to leave school feeling happy, confident, and ready to face the world ahead. We believe that a child is born with an intuitive sense of wonder and happiness at being alive, and a school’s most important job is to nurture and foster that daily sense of delight. At the same time, we have a solemn responsibility to reveal the accumulated experiences we have gained – how the world works, how change creates opportunity, and how diversity adds richness. Most importantly, we want our students to understand how the values of tolerance, compassion, and respect underpin our relationships. SPW is built around the values and traditions of the Anglican Church. The fundamental Christian teaching “love God and love your neighbor” underpins the school's philosophy and programs. The values and beliefs of our church are integrated across the teaching curriculum, and there is a weekly service held in the Chapel. SPW is part of the Anglican Parish of Glenelg, and as the original Parish School, we proudly participate in parish activities.

The values and beliefs of our church are integrated across the teaching curriculum, and there is a weekly service held in the Chapel. SPW is part of the Anglican Parish of Glenelg, and as the original Parish School, we proudly participate in parish activities. View full school

Today's complex world demands that young women develop strength of character and a sense of their worth and abilities. Current research demonstrates the benefits of single-sex education. Woodlands Academy builds its curriculum and all student activities on best practices for girls. We graduate global citizens prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the most rigorous colleges and universities. We draw upon solid research and continue to explore new ideas to ensure that our students are not only successful but are prepared to meet future challenges with courage and confidence. Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, founded in 1858, is an independent, Catholic, day and boarding college preparatory school for young women, grades 9-12, who wish to pursue a course of study committed to academic excellence within the context of a faith-based community. As a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States, Woodlands Academy commits itself to educate to our five goals: personal and active faith in God, deep respect for intellectual values, a social awareness which impels to action, the building of community as a Christian value, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom. The benefits of a girl's girls' school do not come from separating girls from the boys but from a girl's girls' school's ability to focus entirely on girls' education, development, and well-being. At Woodlands, girls learn experientially that they have no limits. They are the president of student government, captains of sports teams, editors of publications, president of robotics, leading actress in the spring musical, also held every other leadership position in the school. They are future engineers, novelists, physicians, and any other professions they so choose. Of course, girls can compete successfully in a coeducational environment. A girl's girls' school education is about eliminating competition and creating a customized learning environment for girls every day. They are learning every day not only math and science but their value, potential and power. Research supports girls girls' school graduates are more prepared for college, are more likely to pursue higher educational degrees, and have higher career aspirations. During the past decade, a growing body of research has documented what all-girls'all-girls' school educators have long understood: All-girls all-girls' schools give young women the best education to succeed in college and the world beyond. - The Woodlands Prep International school is a private preschool through 12th-grade school committed to academic excellence in a nurturing and intimate environment that encourages personal initiative, creativity, and curiosity. We are an International Baccalaureate World School, where students can take the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program, and the Diploma Program at the school. We are the fourth school in Texas and the only school in the Houston area to offer the IB continuum program. Our campus is in a beautifully forested area at The Woodlands in north Houston, ranked as the 6th best city to live in America in 2017. We are, by far, the school of choice for international education in this area. Families from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas have already found a home here at Woodlands Prep. Over half of our students hail from outside the United States. Our American-born students find that our school offers a much more exciting education than they could find elsewhere because we offer an environment that prepares them to live, study, and work anywhere in the world. Ultimately, we believe that international education should provide a foundation for a well-rounded, fulfilling life. Our students deepen their knowledge of the world through inquiry, reflection, and action – learning from friends and teachers with very diverse backgrounds. They are encouraged to discover and develop talents, interests, and friendships through school and extracurricular activities. They also have many opportunities to make a difference in their local and global communities through service to others. We want all students at The Woodlands Preparatory School to find a sense of their passion and purpose in life and to develop the confidence and abilities they need to pursue their dreams. Now, more than ever, the success of younger generations depends on their ability to adapt quickly to the ever-changing landscape, and that, in turn, is dependent on modern education, one that does not merely teach facts or test memorization and note-copying abilities, but, rather, one that empowers students to learn independently using the resources available and teaches them to communicate, collaborate, and coexist within an increasingly globalized society. We chose to be an IB World school so that we could provide an education that is reflective of our globalized society, and we feel fortunate to be able to move freely outside of traditional curricula and standardization and teach students how to learn through hands-on experience, in the style that suits each of their individual needs. We believe we can change the world only by changing education first. The Woodlands Prep is an IB World School, which means we can offer IB's exclusive and rigorous programs. The IB curriculum is designed to challenge students to excel in their studies and emphasize students' personal development and academic achievement through hands-on experience. IB programs help develop students who will build a better world through respect and intercultural understanding. These programs' goal is to encourage students of all ages to think critically, challenge assumptions, consider both local and global contexts, build social responsibility, develop multilingual abilities, and develop other skills that are vital to succeed in a globalized society. At the heart of our philosophy is the desire to provide a global learning experience that nurtures diversity and promotes a global mindset. We take pride in being able to provide an educational program that aligns so well with our philosophy. View full school
