Our school is a happy school, where we provide a curriculum to meet the needs of all our pupils. This website will allow you to have a ‘flavor’ of what a typical day is like at Woodlands and through browsing will hopefully answer some of your questions. You will see the breadth of rich experiences enjoyed by our pupils every day and the success that they achieved which we are proud of at Woodlands School.

We recognize the individual needs of all our children and through our committed and experienced staff, will work in partnership with you so that we can develop each child’s potential. We have an open-door policy at Woodlands School. Please feel free to make an appointment to see me or any of my staff, our doors are always open.

To allow our students the opportunity to progress, by offering appropriate and bespoke provision within a nurturing yet stimulating learning environment, For them to live as independently as possible.

We aspire to achieve this by:

    • Providing a positive, well-resourced learning environment staffed by trained and committed professionals.
    • Encouraging students to develop a positive attitude to learning through the celebration of success and achievement and supporting them whilst they become as independent as possible.
    • Maintaining high expectations in terms of attendance, behavior, and co-operation in learning.
    • Providing a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum, including the National Curriculum, which excites and challenges students.
    • Ensuring a safe and caring environment where individual views on religious and cultural issues are respected as students develop into responsible citizens.
    • Working closely with parents, carers, and the local community.
    • Managing the funding and resources available in an effective and efficient manner

Entry into Woodlands School is via the Local Authority Panel who decides whether Woodlands School can provide the education your child requires. Before pupils starting with us, if you would like to view our school, parents are welcome to make an appointment to visit Woodlands where they will be given a tour and can discuss the needs of their child and what the school has to offer.

If parents decide that they wish their child to have a place at Woodlands School, the Authority will make the necessary arrangements. All pupils entering Woodlands will have a statement of Special Educational Needs. Pupils who start at Woodlands School can be provided with a series of transition days and/or sessions to make the procedure as easy and fluid as possible. This will give new pupils the time they need to get to know the staff and their peers.
