The Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation and its goals and objectives is due to its profile. The University was founded in hard early forties, and it still keeps moving upwards. Within more than 70 years, the University has grown from a narrowly-specialized restricted admission institute to become a significant research and education center. We are incredibly proud of the fact that at the same time, we managed to maintain all our traditional educational fields. We have retained one of the unique education profiles, Aerospace Instrumentation. The first artificial satellite in 1957, Yuri Gagarin’s flight in 1961, and the successful launch of the Buran spacecraft in 1988 are among the achievements of Soviet astronautics accomplished due to our staff, students, and graduates. In 2011 SUAI headed the North West Aerospace Cluster. However, our University is nowadays not just about space and aviation. Its new educational fields include innovation studies and informatics, data protection and international relations, law, linguistics, and many others. The University currently consists of 6 institutes, six faculties, and more than 40 departments, and it offers over 200 educational programs. The admission quotas and enrollment competition are increasing every year. We also develop new ways of an educational organization. SUAI implements several further education, supplementary training, and professional retraining programs. The University also offers Applied Bachelor’s Degree programs, which appeared in Russia as recently as 2013. Degrees awarded by SUAI are appreciated in Russia and abroad. At the moment, more than 600 students from 39 countries are studying at our University as well as our students and staff regularly participate in exchange programs and internships. USA, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, Finland, and China are just a few countries we cooperate with. Higher education is like a launching pad. We provide a successful start, and the achievements of our graduates prove it. Many of our graduates have become leading scientists, heads of national science and industry institutions, and statesmen. St Petersburg is famous the world over for its University. St Petersburg University is not a campus university, so it is not all located on one site. It is made up of many different buildings located around Vasilievskii Island, Central district, Admiralty district, and Petergof. Many of them are unique architectural monuments, say, Mikhailovskaia Dacha and Bobrinski's Palace, that is harmonious in combining history and modernity. The Twelve Collegia, as the main building of the University, demonstrated a notable example of Peter the Great's architectural period and was built by Domenico Trezzini and А. F. Shchedrin in the 18th century. Initially, it was a place for the Russian government: Senate, Synod, and collegia. In 1838, it was commissioned by the University. This date is considered as the birthday of the first engineering education institution of the Russian Empire. Today the University of Mines offers all academic cycles, bachelor's, master's, and specialist's profiles for future employees of Russian and International companies engaged in the estimation, prospecting, exploitation, exploration, and processing of raw materials, oil, gas, diamonds, ores. Over 5000 teaching staff members have been trained since the implementation of the program Student-Assistant of Professor – Postgraduate –Candidate of Science-Doctor of Science. The Mining Museum is one of the three best museums of Natural science in the world. The collections from 80 countries are exhibited in 22 halls and rooms with about 2 500 square meters. The library numbers over 1 2000 000 books, magazines and journals, and rare books of XV – XIХ centuries. The restored church of Saint Macarius the Egyptian is the main temple of the Russian Miners. There are six students' halls and dormitories at the University. Many times the University Sports Center has been estimated as the best one in Saint-Petersburg. To ensure the quality improvement of academic and research activities following "Schedule of internal audits," the internal checks are performed. The audit items and due dates of the audit items (university QAS processes departments involved in these processes monitored items of international standard GOST R ISO:9001:20008) are defined in the schedule. The list of specific items is registered in "The Internal Audit Registry." The leading specialists of temporary and permanent quality committees, Faculty, and department representatives responsible for quality are involved in process audits. Based on the audit results, the recommended guidelines and corrective actions for the audited process's quality improvement are developed. Following QAS requirements, all corrective action requests and recommendations are documented in pursuance of internal regulations of University QAS. We conduct an annual questionnaire survey of lecturers and students. Basing on a statistical analysis of questionnaire results and audit findings, the lecturers' performance levels for each work area are determined, and corrective actions for individual and department levels are developed. During an audit of research and development departments, we monitor the function of R&D activities function, following the documented procedures for R&D activities, presence, and status of R&D problem-solving method, personnel capacity, and status of experimentation facilities and maintaining processes. Based on the audit results, we develop improving proposals for experimental facilities of R&D activities and examine the reasons causing R&D activity's quality deviation and develop relevant corrective measures.
