        University of Petra

The University is a hub for creating knowledge through research, developing skills, applying knowledge to new technologies, and technology transfer. Therefore, UOP utilizes its friendly-to-use campus to unleash men's and women's minds towards new horizons of thought, philosophy, and logic. It provides an intriguing environment of freedom of thought, inquiry, interactive and blended learning, and R&D facilities. The University is aggressive in developing an outreach program for community development and engaging in regional and international sciences for bridging with other scientists, journals, and symposia to reach solutions to social problems, open new employment opportunities, and eradicate poverty. In its endeavor to achieve this, UOP has achieved the ISO 9001 of Management for supporting higher education certificate and the certificate of Quality Assurance of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission. The University of Petra aspires to be the "University of Choice", in Jordan and the region for learners and scholars. Our Mission: To work towards creating an academic, cultural and social environment that develop quality learning, creativity, innovation, and research opportunities and which build up the competencies of UOP members, provide active community service, and prepare its students to be capable of creative and critical thinking as well as lifelong learning to compete in the marketplace and workforces actively. Throughout the world, universities are considered leaders of communities and the processes of change and modernization to ensure social development and progress. They are also considered hubs for freedom of thought and creativity. The University of Petra (UOP) believes that Man is the catalyst for hope and change to elevate a society's status, in all facets, towards betterment and richness. This belief emanates from an unwavering conviction that Man is the first and foremost active value capable of change. Therefore, UOP invests in creative human development to ensure that its students conduct research that is based on expanded knowledge, both ancient and modern, that enables them to become active resources in a grand procession that can lead them towards leadership positions towards reform and change on both national and regional levels. Human Development Goals are not merely directed towards students but extend beyond them to cover their professors and those entrusted with their education; they also facilitate providing students with knowledge through all possible ways. For this purpose, UOP connects with other universities and sources of knowledge, both Arab and foreign, to present its students with the tools needed for attaining high levels on the path towards serious scientific research. The University of Petra is also concerned with promoting learners' personalities and creating the means for their communication with society in a way that enables the latter to truly benefit from its members' full potential as it moves forward towards reforming itself. UOP also believes that language is the source of all knowledge needed to disseminate knowledge to the world. Similarly, that language is void of meaning unless it embodies thought. Therefore, as a bilingual institution, the University is boundlessly concerned with linguistic development and ensures its students master their national language and at least one foreign language to employ it/them in their scientific and knowledge-based interactions. The University also caters to students' betterment and perfection at foreign languages as this is the most effective channel through which all scientific novelties may be fully grasped. Our Values: To pursue learning for the sake of knowledge. To provide equal opportunities for learning and excelling. To learn how to learn. To motivate members for lifelong learning. To respect diversity, plurality & the opinions of others. To encourage teamwork and collaboration. To treasure creativity and achievements. To advocate for intellectual freedom. To commit to social justice and social responsibility. To be dedicated to leadership development and accountability. The University of Petra seeks to establish a prestigious position at both national and regional levels. It focuses on moving forward on the present and the future to benefit from scientific and technological ideas. Petra education is intended to help students develop their characters and commit to learning in a university environment that provides academic, spiritual, cultural, and professional development opportunities. Universities across boundaries have been a source of enlightenment to members of their communities, pioneering channels of change, and progress and development paths. They have always provided platforms for intellectual freedom. The University of Petra is dedicated to preserving the very task of respect for human endeavor and the ages' wisdom.
