- We are a thriving and happy Catholic school, providing a broad and balanced curriculum, designed to educate the whole child and send them forward into the world being 'the best that they can be'.Catholic religious education is the 'core of the curriculum' ( Saint Pope John Paul II ) and the foundation of the whole educational process. We are fortunate to be supported by a dedicated and committed governing body who plays an integral role in our success, acting as the 'critical friend', they challenge and support us to maintain our high standards. Similarly, we work in collaboration with our parents to ensure that we are striving to achieve excellence for all our children. The School recognizes the dignity of every human person because s/he is a child of God and fosters an awareness of the world's poor. Equality of opportunity for every person is paramount and precludes all forms of discrimination on grounds of color, gender, race, social class, or ability. The promotion of ‘British values’ is central to Catholic education because British values have their origin in the Christian values of our nation. We are proud that Catholic schools promote values that are both Catholic and British, including respect for the individual, democracy, individual liberty, respect, tolerance, and inclusiveness. Our schools promote cohesion by serving more ethnically diverse and poorer communities. Catholic schools provide high standards of education which are popular with parents from all social, economic, and faith backgrounds. At St Michael & St Martin, we provide an education that focuses on the formation of the whole person and our vocation and purpose in life. We are guided by our mission statement ‘Learning our faith, living our faith, loving our faith' and by the Christian values of vocation and service, respect, compassion, cooperation, and stewardship as we reflect on our place and purpose in the world. We place a significant emphasis on the celebration of individuality and difference within our communities and our calling to work for the Common Good, in the service of others. Our Catholic ethos, which includes explicit reference to Christian and British values, makes a tangible difference to the way we work together and with our wider communities. Within this framework, it would be impossible to overlook the government’s view of British values expressed as democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. At St Michael & St Martin, we recognize, not only the importance of helping pupils to flourish academically but also spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally, so they are fully prepared for life in British society and for their role as citizens, able to make the strongest possible contribution to the Common Good of all. We teach the importance of British Values by going much deeper into the meaning of what it means to live a good life, within a framework of Catholic Christian Values. This provides the context and meaning for understanding why British values are important. Our framework for understanding British values draws on the example of Jesus and his welcome and inclusion of all, which is developed in Catholic Social Teaching. View full school
- Welcome to St Martin of Porres Catholic Primary School. St. Martin of Porres Catholic Primary School seeks to create a stimulating environment and a happy, caring community where each person grows in knowledge and love. St. Martin of Porres Catholic Primary School is a Roman Catholic Primary School providing schooling for children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. The School is a one-form entry school, having one class of children for each of the seven-year groups in the primary range of 5 - 11 years. The School also has a Nursery class of 3 - 4-year-old children. As a Roman Catholic school, we believe that Jesus is at the heart of our learning, values, and beliefs. By living our faith every day, we will see Jesus in each other, loving one another and fostering forgiveness. We aim to create a stimulating environment by valuing and celebrating our gifts and talents given to us by God the Father. Active and enjoyable learning takes place in our friendly and secure school. The Holy Spirit works in us to develop the community of St. Martin of Porres that celebrates diversity and welcomes and appreciates each person. We value the relationship that exists between home, school, and parish and continually work to strengthen our links with the wider community. At St. Martin of Porres Catholic Primary School, we try to ensure that all pupils receive a broad and balanced education that is relevant to their needs, meets national requirements, and will be enjoyable. Although the curriculum is initially divided into subject areas, much of the teaching and learning is integrated into a thematic or topic approach, since the child needs to understand and make sense of the world around him or her which is both complex and inter-related. It is expected that much of the curriculum will be about knowledge and the acquisition and development of skills. Each child will be encouraged to observe closely, to develop logical reasoning and be encouraged to make decisions and to reflect on past experiences when making decisions. The development of English in speaking and listening, reading, and writing is some of the primary concerns of the School. However, it is not limited to specific English lessons there are many opportunities across the school curriculum. The children are encouraged to speak and discuss, articulate their ideas, and express their points of view with clarity and precision. They are encouraged to read widely and avidly for pleasure and information. It is hoped that they will learn to read fluently and accurately with understanding and expression. It is expected that each child will be taught to write legibly and that he or she will fulfill their potential in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and handwriting. The written language will arise from a variety of purposes, such as the relating of personal experiences, stories, poems, descriptive accounts, letters, and the ordering and recording of information. The mathematics curriculum, which follows the National Curriculum for Mathematics, encourages children to form mathematical concepts, acquire skills, and explore how these can be applied to everyday situations. - Welcome to Bishop Martin Church of England Primary School. Bishop Martin is a thriving Church School whose core aim is "Learning Together, in God's Love". We are truly committed to nurturing highly motivated and independent young people who have a life-long love of learning that extends across the whole curriculum. Recognizing its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character following the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at the parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our school vision which is: To provide a happy, safe and caring community that prepares our children to be confident and happy citizens who are successful both in school and the outside world. To have high expectations of pupil achievement through challenging, creative, and engaging learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners and develop in them a desire to succeed. To lead by example so that pupils are encouraged to view perseverance and resilience as integral to their journey to success and personal growth and to have pride in their achievements. We have twelve core values that are embedded in the life and work of the school and its community. They are Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness, Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, and Respect. We focus on one value each half term over a two-year cycle. These values are clear in everything we do and how we operate. They reflect the core ideology of our school and do not change over time. The person you are is an expression of these values. They determine how you think and what you do. They shape your purpose and determine your vision. They establish your character and are hugely important to who you are. Values are what we live, breathe and these are reflected in our day-to-day activities. Bishop Martin CE Primary School is an inclusive school. We are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents, and carers receiving services from the school, irrespective of race, gender, disability, faith, religion, or socio-economic group, and recognizing the protected characteristics in the Equality Act. Working in partnership with parents, we provide a happy, stimulating environment rooted in Christian values. All are cared for and nurtured spiritually, morally, intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. At Bishop CE Primary School, we believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here. Our school is a Church of England Primary School, however, we welcome children from all backgrounds, abilities, races, and religions. At Bishop Martin CE Primary School, our Early Years provision consists of a Reception Class. We are committed to providing a high-quality Early Years education that gives children a secure and confident start to their school life and nurtures a lifelong love of learning. We are fully committed to the purpose and aims of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework 2012 that states: “Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfill their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances.” The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) covers the development of children from birth to the end of their Reception Year. The overarching aim of the EYFS is to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness and gives children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. We follow the Statutory Framework of the EYFS and the four guiding principles that shape practice within Early Years settings. Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, confident, and self-assured. Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships. Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents, and/or carers. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. Children learn skills, acquire new knowledge and demonstrate their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development: Communication and language Physical development Personal, social, and emotional development Literacy Mathematics Understanding the world Expressive arts and design The EYFS learning environment is organized to allow children to explore and learn securely and safely. The environment is set up in learning areas, where children are easily able to find clearly labeled equipment and resources they need. Children are encouraged to become independent learners and to take some responsibility for initiating their lines of inquiry and investigation. Activities are planned for both inside and outside with children having the freedom to move between the indoor and outdoor classroom throughout the school day. The learning environment is divided into a variety of different areas, including designated areas for writing, numeracy, art and craft, role play, physical activity, construction, small world and play dough area as well as book corner, sand, and water. These areas are carefully arranged to encourage quiet areas and more active areas within the learning environment. Our Early Years Foundation Stage has an outdoor area for the children to learn in throughout the day. Being outdoors offers opportunities for children to do things in different ways and on different scales. It offers the children the opportunity to explore, use their senses and be physically active. - Martin Primary School was opened in September 2007 after the amalgamation of Martin Junior School and Martin Infant School. 'Martin Primary School provides an outstanding education for its pupils. The headteacher provides inspirational leadership, ably supported by a very strong leadership team and an excellent governing body.' We continue to work hard to ensure we maintain this standard. Martin Primary School is a large school and is in the process of transforming into a three-form entry school. We strive for excellence in all curriculum areas and seek to develop children's talents in the arts, music, and sport as well as in English and mathematics. Our curriculum is challenging and offers learning opportunities to all children. We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and stimulating environment within which children can grow, develop and learn. Martin Primary School has a strong tradition of partnership so that teachers and governors, parents, and children work alongside each other to achieve high standards of work and behavior. At Martin Primary School we aim to provide a happy, safe and exciting learning environment where every child has an equal opportunity to reach his or her full potential. We recognize that children learn best when they are fully and actively engaged in the learning process, which means ensuring high-quality learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. As a team, we strive for excellence, putting children and their learning at the heart of all we do, so we help to create well-rounded individuals with fond, fun memories of their time at Martin Primary school. We keep confidential records of work undertaken and the progress of pupils, including observations and agreed targets. We have undertaken Drawing & Talking Therapy which is a way of engaging children and helping them work through any issues away from a classroom environment. This is currently being implemented with positive results. We run Social Skills groups for children across the school which encourages friendship, problem-solving, anxiety management, building confidence, and helping children take control and deal with change. We also deal with ad-hoc friendship issues (daily) so that this is kept away from the classroom and learning time. (Bubble time Year 3 and Talk Time Boxes). We supervise both playgrounds from 8:30 am every morning and 3:35 pm every afternoon. We also stay with the children who are late to be collected and monitor those who are frequently collected late. We run a daily lunchtime club for children who find it difficult to be outside for long periods. We implemented and oversee the school house system, where children receive points for good behavior and work and are rewarded throughout the year. We oversee the School Council meetings fortnightly, where two children from each class discuss a variety of topics that relate to the daily running of the school. We accompany classes on educational visits as well as school journeys with Year 6. We are available to support parents when needed. We have full team meetings every Friday with Mrs. Waterman and Ms. Jerrard. We review new referrals, current caseloads and support each other with ideas on how best to work with referred children. We handle sensitive information from school, home, and other agencies, and confidentiality is respected unless a situation presents as a safeguarding issue when the designated school safeguarding officers will be informed. We provide opportunities for children to talk in confidence, within the framework of the school policy for disclosure and child protection. View full school

We seek to make this statement and everyday reality in our school by living it out in the following aims: To provide a Christ-centred community in which the Catholic faith is nurtured. To provide daily opportunities for prayer and worship which deepen our relationship with God and each other. To uphold British values by developing an awareness and respect of other peoples' religious and moral values and an understanding of other cultures, religions, and ways of life.

- Our worldwide cooperation with higher education and research institutions makes numerous study, research, and internship opportunities possible. The International Office supports you on your way to Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg or abroad. It advises you on European and global support programs that include language courses and cultural events. It answers your questions concerning organizational issues such as entry into the country, right of residence, living, and insurance. The research group led by Halle-based plant geneticist Professor Ulla Bonas investigates the interaction between pathogenic bacteria and plants for quite some time. The group focuses on Xanthomonas bacteria, which primarily attack tomato and pepper plants. In their earlier work, the Halle lab already proved that the bacteria introduce numerous harmful proteins, so-called effectors, into plant cells via a specialized secretion system that works like a molecular syringe. "This protein cocktail weakens the plant's defenses and allows the bacteria to multiply inside the plants. The plant's age faster, lose their leaves and produce less fruit," says Ulla Bonas. One of these harmful proteins is XopH. The research groups from Halle, Bonn, and Freiburg investigated this particular protein's action mechanism in more detail. Using analytical new methods developed by the Freiburg researchers, they were able to show that the XopH protein targets one of the main phosphorus supplies inside plant cells. "When XopH depletes this supply, it probably not only takes nutrients away from the plant but also prepares it to receive the harmful bacteria," explains Bonas. It is likely that the XopH protein also weakens the plant's defenses and changes its hormonal balance, which is suggested by the fact that the affected plants have a problem to grow. Some host plants have adapted to attacks from Xanthomonas bacteria and can recognize the manipulation through XopH. "We do not know yet how exactly they do this. However, the result is always the same: The diseased tissue dies to seal off the infected area and prevent the pathogenic bacteria from spreading further through the plant tissue," Bonas concludes. The study in "Nature Communications" provides another answer to how bacteria harm plants and how plants react to this threat. However, all in all, much basic research still needs to be carried out to understand the disease process fully: XopH is only one of a total of more than 35 effector proteins that bacteria inject into plants to colonize them. A. in Development, Management, and Policy, with Georgetown University (United States). Together with the European Union (EU), the University offers the Master's Program in Human Rights and Democratization in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Campus is built around former railway lines and train repair shop buildings. It has become a privileged space for teaching, research, cultural development, and social interaction among members of UNSAM's community. It has developed strong, research-led partnerships with a range of leading universities globally: UNSAM has signed nearly 400 international agreements, which have resulted in various research projects, as well as students and teachers' exchange programs. The University is continuously open to new partnerships based on academic exchanges, teaching, joint research projects, special programs, and innovation with universities and institutions. In 2001, UNSAM started to restore the existing buildings and to set up new ones. With a strong commitment and a tremendous innovative capacity, Campus Miguelete has become one of Argentina's most exciting educational and research habitats. At present, the Miguelete Campus has 16 hectares and more than a dozen buildings. All of them stand out for its originality, and many have won significant architectural prizes. The Campus has become the home to an educational community that brings together students, teachers, researchers, and artists with a joint project: the National University of San Martín. UNSAM has an active policy of internationalization, integral, and inclusive. We developed strong, research-led partnerships with a range of leading universities in the world. The University has signed more than 300 international agreements, from which have emerged or consolidated projects of investigation and various programs in students and teachers exchange, joint cathedrals, joint degrees, and fellowships. The University is continuously open for new partnerships based on academic and student exchanges, teaching, joint research, special programs, and innovation with leading universities and institutions. Despite being a young institution with only 25 years of experience, since its origins, the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) has built bridges with prestigious public agencies of science and technology to contribute to the development of R&D&I and great innovation campus. More than 400 researchers and 340 scholarship holders carry out their scientific and technological activities in the Miguelete Campus and the other venues the University has in Buenos Aires City, San Martín, Ezeiza, and Chascomús. The University has more than 50,000 square meters of offices and laboratories with first-class equipment where students, professors, entrepreneurs, scientists, technical personnel, and service staff coexist in a stimulating atmosphere to develop creative capabilities and the diverse expressions of talent. UNSAM is also part of a technology park in Buenos Aires Province (Polo Tecnológico Constituyentes) and has forged alliances with the most important research institutions in the country: the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE), the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) and the National Agricultural Technology Institute (INTA). Located in a strategic area, the Campus Miguelete is a free space for local development and cooperation between the public and private sectors. Most of San Martin's population belongs to middle-low class sectors. In that context, the University's goal is to support regional and national development to strengthen the community needs through our Reach Out Program. Each year many University students, faculty, University staff, and residents participate together in a wide range of volunteer and service programs that cover many different areas, such as Gender, Childhood, Disability, Environmental Issues, Popular Economy, and Literacy, among others. At the same time, it is remarkable that, since 2008, UNSAM has created the University Center in San Martin Penitentiary, where inmates and the penitentiary service attend classes of BA in Sociology and participate in professional computer and baking workshops. There are currently 165 students taking different courses at CUSAM.
