Since 1958, St. Croix Lutheran Academy has prepared young people to be outstanding citizens who know their savior Jesus Christ and achieve at high levels spiritually, intellectually, and physically. As a Christian school, SCLA takes excellent care in providing a Christ-centered, Bible-based education in a supportive, student-focused community.
SCLA welcomes students in grades 6-12 from all backgrounds. The culturally-diverse community includes students from the more fantastic Twin Cities metropolitan area, across the United States, and to date, from over 40 countries across five continents. Located on 30 acres overlooking Thompson Lake, the campus supports the mission of educating the total student – spiritually, intellectually, and physically. Here students will be part of a caring, supportive community where they will find friends and discover their potential.
SCLA is a fully accredited educational institution serving students in grades 6-12. Established in 1958, the school offers middle school and high school Bible-based experiential and college-prep curriculums, including STEM, accelerated, advanced placement, and college-credit courses. 95% of graduates pursue higher education after graduation.
The middle school (grades 6-8) fosters a caring, Christian community of active learners and explorers. Utilizing a collaborative learning environment, including study groups and experiences outside of the classroom, an SCL middle school education is designed to encourage students to define themselves and explore the world. Academic planning is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. Using placement testing, students are grouped by ability and take high-school-level math, literature, and world language courses during their middle school years. Also, students enjoy taking engineering, science, U.S. history, art, music, and more. Small class sizes and highly trained, caring teachers are prepared to challenge each child to new success levels.
The combination of books, technology, and thoughtful, caring teachers have revolutionized the classroom experience. In addition to traditional teaching methods, web-based tools such as handheld clickers, Chromebooks, interactive whiteboards, and smart TVs create interactive classrooms that allow teachers an up-to-the-minute glimpse at students’ understanding of the material, all while holding the attention of the curious middle school mind. SCL’s campus is 100% WiFi accessible, and each middle school student is assigned a Chromebook loaded with Google Apps for use during the school year.
The high school (grades 9-12) offers a college-preparatory curriculum during a two-semester school year. Students take core classes to meet graduation requirements and participate in a variety of electives and co-curricular activities.
SCLA’s college-preparatory program has a reputation for excellence in a friendly and safe environment with supportive instructors. With a challenging curriculum and small class sizes, SCLA is an outstanding educational value.
Highly-qualified instructors partner with parents to develop students spiritually, intellectually, and physically – giving them the tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond. Over seventy percent (70%) of the teaching staff hold advanced degrees. The student-to-teacher ratio is 13 to 1, and the average class size is 20.
