Christian teaching and worship are central to the functions of all Lutheran Schools. More information about what Lutherans believe is available on request from the Registrar. The Chaplain will also be happy to discuss with you any further questions or concerns you may have.
      8. Having served as a leader in Lutheran schools for 20 years, I am acutely aware that at the heart of every great school are people walking together, in partnership, with a shared vision for the future. Good Shepherd Lutheran School is a 'people place' where staff, students, and parents celebrate and live out our values of Love, Optimism, and Creativity. We are a community that is 'Active and connected, growing for LIFE.' Enjoy this glimpse of who we are, what is important to us, and how young lives and families benefit through a connection with Good Shepherd Lutheran School. As you engage in the exciting and vital task of deciding on a school for your child, know that our doors are always open, and your questions and queries are welcomed. I invite you to join me for one of our regularly scheduled principal's tours. Hear about our vision for learners and witness for yourself students' engagement in rich learning experiences within our vibrant and happy environment. Our Vision: Active and connected, growing for LIFE Our vision for lifelong learning is an inspirational statement that acknowledges the tremendous responsibility we assume as we guide and support children and families in a changing world. A traditional African proverb states, 'It takes a village to raise a child.' Success as a learner is not an individual pursuit - it requires shared goals, dedication, commitment, collaboration, and connectivity within the Good Shepherd community and into the world. Growing for LIFE is much more than an academic exercise. 'LIFE' in our vision is strongly connected to Jesus' words in John. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. The learning environment is a safe and supportive place to build self, social, emotional, and spiritual capacity. All efforts to promote positive attitudes, achievements, and behavior have as their prime goal, the Christian growth and development of students as individuals and community members. This practice is based on the Christian principle of caring for each other rather than maintaining order through a purely penal system. We strive to maintain a school environment where children can experience success while feeling safe, happy, and secure. We encourage commitment to a restorative approach when relational challenges arise. A restorative approach provides an opportunity for those affected by conflict to be part of the healing process when students play a part in repairing and rebuilding relationships and have a clear understanding of behavioral expectations, preventing ongoing conflict results. Learning is attuned to be engaging, developmental, personalized, and differentiated to meet individual needs. Differentiated learning at Good Shepherd involves providing students with different pathways to achieve success. Students engage and focus on a task when they are at the center of their own learning experience. Personalized learning leads to deeper understanding and application for students. Learning is continuously reviewed and challenged as we design a curriculum for the future relevant to our setting and context. We promote flexible learning arrangements focused on growing each child. Learners are enabled to be resourceful, innovative, and persistent and to use initiative. Looking to the future, we recognize our students will be required to be strong problem solvers. In a dynamic world where technology and automation are changing the workplace rapidly, children must be ready to face the challenges, ask questions, and think for themselves. Well developed, these skills will positively impact all facets of their lives. Learners are active and informed citizens, connecting strongly with communities and practice beyond the classroom. At Good Shepherd, we are a local, national, and globally connected school. Being connected through technology in all areas of learning provides students with excellent opportunities to be innovative. Our Christian studies curriculum gives children a spiritual perspective that generates clarity and hope as they attempt to understand the world and their place in it.
      9. The Senior Campus, supporting Year 7-12 students, is set on a picturesque, 100-hectare property located on Hamilton's outskirts. It offers a broad range of curriculum experiences that provide for multiple pathways for students beyond school. The Senior Campus specializes in agriculture, with a fully operational farm including: an accredited Murray Grey stud, complete with undercover cattle yards a mature orchard, with a variety of fruit trees a working shearing shed and yards a well-maintained vegetable garden, in addition to the extensive glass and shade houses, located close to the classrooms, and a fully equipped, specialized agricultural classroom, complete with change rooms and undercover workshop. Lutheran schools have been a part of Australia's educational landscape since 1839 and now extend into every state and territory of Australia except the ACT. Today more than 35,000 students receive their education in 85 Lutheran schools throughout Australia. They are located in every state and territory apart from the ACT. It is also estimated that 3,600 children are educated and cared for in around forty Lutheran early childhood centers around the nation. Lutheran schools have experienced significant growth, which has led to system support at regional and national levels. Lutheran schools are schools of the Lutheran Church of Australia and, as such, are based on the central message of the gospel, that our acceptance by God does not depend on our worth or achievements, but on His unconditional commitment of love for us, evidence through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The promotion of Christian growth and development in our students is a reflection of what Jesus has done for us. Lutheran schools offer quality teaching and learning experiences for each child to reflect their uniqueness. Lutheran schools are communities where caring and respectful relationships are developed. These strong relationships form the binding element that allows Good Shepherd College to share its ethos and values actively. As a learning community, Good Shepherd proclaims hope for the future grounded in the Lutheran tradition. We celebrate the word of God through: Daily devotions and weekly chapel services Christian Studies teaching and learning curriculum Pastoral Care activities and service-learning programs. Unique to the Hamilton region, our college has been established on two distinct campuses. This enables the college to tailor each learning environment to the developmental stages of students. We believe this reflects 'best practice' and provides teaching and learning situations suited explicitly to the students in each location, focusing on how these students' best learn. We believe every student is a special gift from God, each with unique gifts, skills, and talents, which will enable them to become active citizens beyond school when nurtured. Every child is treated with Christian love and respect and encouraged to have control over their learning. Each is challenged to discover, develop, and use their gifts and abilities for personal growth and service to others. We hope that the enriching and fulfilling opportunities experienced in our community stay with students for life. Right, Shepherd College is widely regarded as a caring school. We place a high priority on pastoral care. Our staff works hard at developing nurturing relationships with students because encouraging and affirming relationships lie at the heart of effective learning.
      10. Welcome to Good Shepherd Christian School. The education of your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Therefore, Good Shepherd Christian School seeks to partner with families to nurture and develop students within a supportive and caring environment. At Good Shepherd Christian School, the Australian Curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective. Our staff is committed to working as a team to ensure students receive an education that promotes academic excellence and personal spiritual growth. Good Shepherd Christian School was established in 1983 as a ministry of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. The values and beliefs taught at Good Shepherd Christian School align with the teachings of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Good Shepherd Christian School encourages students to become life-long learners who are equipped for work, further education, and ministry. Our mission is to train children and prepare them for this life and the life to come, and we count it a privilege to partner with parents in this precious task. We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each being co-equal in power and glory. The three are one God though separate in personality and work. We believe in the deity, virgin birth, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. Being one personality in the Godhead, we, therefore, believe He is God. We believe that salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. Salvation is by grace alone. This salvation must be received personally by faith, and those that believe have, according to the Scriptures, received the new birth. We believe in the personal, visible, bodily, imminent, pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the rapture of the saints when Jesus will come in the air to receive all those who have been born again. We believe this “catching up,” or rapture precedes the tribulation period and takes place about seven years before Christ’s visible coming in power and great glory. We believe in a literal thousand-year millennial reign by Christ on earth, during which Satan will be bound. We believe this millennial reign takes place after the seven-year tribulation period. We believe the Holy Spirit is the third personality of the Godhead. We believe He convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgment, that He is the necessary and supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, and indwelling and sealing them unto the Day of Redemption. We do not believe the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.

      14. View full school

The Holy Spirit establishes this grace relationship of love and forgiveness through God's Word. The Lutheran Church is a mainstream Christian Church first established in Northern Europe at the Reformation time in the 16th Century. In Australia, recent discussions have occurred between Lutheran, Anglican, Catholic, and Uniting Churches, the result being significant understanding, some agreement, and inter-denominational cooperation with and between these churches. Christian teaching and worship are central to the functions of all Lutheran Schools. More information about what Lutherans believe is available on request from the Registrar. The Chaplain will also be happy to discuss with you any further questions or concerns you may have. View full school

View full school
      17. View full school
