  1. Fukuhara Gakuen was established in 1947. Since its establishment, the institution now has three universities, one high school, and three kindergartens at the forefront of providing quality education in a fast-changing era and high social demand while fulfilling the region's educational needs. Recognizing the change in society's perspective on women and the impact of globalization, Fukuhara Gakuen strives to provide a well-rounded education for women allowing access into a competitive workforce still trying to achieve gender equality. In response to the need, apart from lectures, experiments, practical training, an internship program, the institution continues to improve upon its hard and soft infrastructure. In April 2016, the institution opened a new campus, "Korean." The campus's ability to freely change the internal layout is based on an Active Learning Studio concept. The campus has a nursery room, a traditional tea room for manners and etiquette classes. The institution also strives to enhance the student's overall communication and problem-solving skills. Fukuhara Gakuen will continue to uphold its motto nurturing [Strong yet gentle woman = Kyushu Women'sWomen's University graduate]. We seek to nurture healthy and yet gentlewomen and act under the guidance of their judgment and sense of responsibility, following the rules they have set up for themselves. In a free atmosphere, we provide primary and specialized education that is systematic and attentive to detail. This education is useful in society and helps the students to obtain various licenses. We train students so that they may have broad and specialized knowledge and also communication skills. We also have an advisor system whereby each teacher is in charge of a small number of students. We aim to teach students to develop their strengths and abilities. In addition, we aim to provide helpful service related to the registering of students' credits, student life, studying abroad, and assistance for job-hunting by the Student Affairs Office. We actively accept members of the local community who wish to study while working, wish to study again, and wish to have life-long education. We aim to develop an educational program that is enjoyable, rich, and useful also students continuingly in their daily lives. Furthermore, we facilitate collaboration with companies of the local community to help our students' careers. We accept excellent international students from sister universities and inculcate in them the university's educational concepts to help them become independent refined women who contribute to society. We also encourage students to study abroad so that they may develop an international outlook. Furthermore, we aim to provide an academic environment in which students can interact and exchange ideas with international students to understand various cultures. Teachers can interact and exchange ideas in their research fields.
  2. This university was established out of the inspiration and ideas of many people. Contributions, including from Kumamoto Prefecture and Tamana City, two former cities, ten former towns, the donations of many people, and the local community's enthusiastic movement bore fruit so that a "mixed public-and-private" university could be established. That is why we think this university always wants to remain as a university opened by the local community. So, asking the local community people to use the university facilities, including the library, is a natural thing and, in addition to that, we think that it is the mission of an open university to be also useful as a place for lifelong study through open courses. From all over the country, we want to ask our students to put their study into practice at the Kyushu University of Nursing and Social Welfare by benefiting from their many new encounters and contacts. Modern people are demanding reflection on the principles of medical care. These principles constitute a well-balanced set of proposals. In other words, people hope that medical care will assist their becoming sound physically and mentally after they leave the medical care facility and return to their daily lives. The core of such assistance is nursing and social welfare for social life, health care, medical care, and social welfare. Here is where health care, medical care, and social welfare meet, and we need to put these fields into one integrated activity. Therefore, we can gather people from every part of Kyushu and, at the same time, be a strategic point to educate professionals. Our university can be a center that develops education and research activities in health care, medical care, and social welfare. Established in this region, our university contributes to the health care, medical care, and social welfare of the people of the community of Johoku, Kumamoto Prefecture. Besides that, our university illuminates new directions in health care, medical care, and social welfare to our country. Consequently, we aim to open up new views. In this manner, while our university, regarding its education and research, performs activities in well-balanced health care, medical care, and social welfare, our goal is to reach all Kyushu areas and beyond to the whole country with such activities. This is the philosophy of the foundation of our university. We aim to deliver to society professionals who have the profound ability of critical thinking and capacities for action in health care, medical care, and social welfare. To do that, we established five departments (Department of Nursing, Department of Social welfare, Department of Rehabilitation, Department of Sports Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and Department of Oral Health), and we encourage education through research by establishing a graduate school. While all departments are specialized and cover different specialty areas, in the areas of overlap and many points commonly found among the health care, medical care, and social welfare departments, this sees many standard courses in the departments' curricula. Additionally, since our students all spend their time on one campus, they have many chances to influence one another positively. As a result, we are proud to educate students who are gaining an expansive variety of academic knowledge.
  3. Let us change the world, beginning from a small community, to create a peaceful and affluent society by thinking of real happiness. In an environment surrounded by abundant nature and mild climate in Southern Kyushu, the Minami Kyushu University provides the students with the education to be a person with creativity, humanity, and good social skills. As well, the university is engaged in the primary and applied study for "food," "green," and "people" to develop human resources that will contribute to society in the specialized fields. We are now facing diversified problems attributed to human beings' existence, such as environmental issues, expanded social gaps, an increase in poverty, and an aging society. Furthermore, by suffering from an unprecedented scale of damage after the Great East Japan Earthquake, we are now demanded to get rid of an old sense of world and sense of value, that is, "only the continued economic development will bring us a rich society ."Since its foundation in 1967, Minami Kyushu University has been committed to agriculture, food, health, and education. And I believe that the abundant experiences and our achievement at Minami Kyushu University will inspire us to make a breakthrough in contemporary Japanese society's critical issues. Various events throughout the year will be an excellent experience for the student's personal growth. Beginning with a welcome event for freshmen, an open campus, on-site training, and the climactic "Kirishima Festival" on Miyazaki Campus and "Hibari Festival" on Miyakonojo Campus all provide excellent opportunities for meeting new people, challenging something new, and personal growth. At Minami Kyushu University, we have engaged in the characteristic education focusing on horticulture and gardening for more than 40 years. The Miyakonojo Campus that was newly opened in 2009, offers an excellent educational environment where the students learn to become a creating specialist involved in vegetation, equipped with sensibility and scientific knowledge, and a deep understanding of the importance of coexisting with nature and creatures. The department consists of 5 significant fields specified on pages 4 and 5. Our educational policy enables the students to extend their intellectual antenna in multiple directions. The student labs are where they practice the knowledge and technologies learned in the classrooms as a practicum. They are organized by different areas, such as horticultural production environment, plant bio, breeding, and natural environmental system. The labs are equipped with modern facilities, including a DNA sequencer for gene analysis, high-performance liquid chromatography for botanical ingredient analysis, and element analysis equipment essential for the environmental analysis.
  4. Kyushu Sangyo University aspires to develop practicality-oriented and passionate human resources with a rich sense of humanity to meet industrial circles' expectations. Promotion of self-awareness as a citizen and the spirit of the middle path/Establishment of practicality-oriented academic traditions As modern society is becoming increasingly diversified and interdependent due to rapid internationalization and computerization, the international community has begun to seek a new world order based on respect for humanity and the global environment. The advance of information and telecommunication technology is creating an information-intensive society where the world can be connected instantly through communication networks, necessitating the rebuilding of systems in science, politics, the economy, and all other areas. Kyushu Sangyo University (KSU) declares as its philosophy that it promotes self-awareness as a citizen and the spirit of the middle path and establishes practicality-oriented academic traditions. In contrast, KSU aspires to foster human resources that can take leadership in society with a broad perspective, unbound spirit, and keen judgment. This philosophy is essential to realize our founding ideal -the unification of industry and academia - which we pursue in our firm belief that industry and academia must be unified to interactively work like two wheels of a vehicle to meet the times' societal needs. Based on this philosophy and ideal, we aim to realize education, focusing on the following: Develop students' creativity, and encourage them to learn both theory and its practical application in a balanced way. Promote students' understanding of diversified cultures around the world and Japanese culture, and develop their sensitivity to interact with each culture. Please pay attention to the Asia-Pacific region as a whole by taking advantage of our location in Kyushu. Today, enterprises in all areas demand independent and productive individuals who do more than wait for the future to arrive. Kyushu Sangyo University believes in the importance of taking action and putting ideas into practice. It is a place of learning and growth, where students can contribute practically to our society. Thinking outside the lines. Having the desire to make it real. These are the things that matter most. "Shape your dreams. Shape your future" This new slogan represents Kyushu Sangyo University's continued expertise in a variety of educational fields as well as its ability to meet the rapidly changing needs of our society. As relationships with Asia and other nations worldwide are becoming increasingly closer, the role of KSU's international exchange programs is also becoming increasingly important. Since its opening in April 1999 to deal with globalization, the Center for International Affairs has been the university's primary organization for promoting a wide range of international exchange activities, including receiving international students, administration of exchange student programs, and exchange agreements with overseas universities. KSU, where many international students are studying, offers opportunities to experience cross-cultural interaction daily, especially with exchange partner universities. KSU is actively involved in various activities, such as academic student exchange programs, friendship exchanges among students, and cultural and sports exchanges. Through KSU's annual overseas training program, many students visit private enterprises, universities, and museums throughout Europe, the U.S., and Southeast Asia every year, broadening their international perspectives.

  6. At Kyushu Dental University, we view dentistry as medical care that supports people's daily lives and well-being through oral health. Our goal is to train dental professionals. As a university of oral medicine, we have structured our disciplines to ideal for team medical care. Campus life is the field of practice. Kyushu Dental University has made significant contributions to the advancement of dental medicine and dental care with its long history and tradition as the only public university out of 29 dental universities and faculty of dentistry at universities. In 2014, we celebrated the centennial of the university's founding to further improve and develop our educational, research, and clinical activities as a university of oral medicine. More value may be placed on just producing professional practitioners in today's medical and dentistry educational systems. However, here at Kyushu Dental University, we make changes to meet the demands of our times because we are determined to train our students to be dental care practitioners who are truly professional and possess a sense of humanity. We also engage in cooperation with other universities. In 2009, we started an integrated graduate studies program for dentistry and engineering with the Kyushu Institute of Technology. 7. The Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) was initially founded as a private institution called the Meiji College of Technology (MCT) in 1907, in the northern area of the island of Kyushu in Japan, where Tobata Campus resides now. The founders, Mr. Keiichiro Yasukawa and Mr. Kenjiro Matsumoto were managers of the Meiji Mining Company, and they held the firm belief that they should not personally profit from the company because there were only a few Japanese technological and educational facilities at the time, which caused Japan a disadvantage with other countries. More than 100 years since its inauguration, Kyutech has produced over 60,000 talented engineers by practicing its founding principle of "instilling a deep knowledge of science and engineering in high caliber students." The university has contributed to knowledge creation that will lead to academic progress, enhanced competitiveness in industry and regional development by making the most of its education and research capabilities. Progress in science and technology in recent years is remarkable, filled with discoveries and inventions leading to innumerable technologies. These achievements have spread through society and become part of people's lives at an accelerating pace. For example, the Internet used to be just an experimental low-speed communication line in 1969 but has now become the network that connects people worldwide. This is one way that science and technology are closely linked with people's lives, and the importance of its role is increasing. In this context, Kyutech has been producing engineers who provide solutions to our diverse society's complicated challenges. Kyutech focuses on the education of knowledge and skills and notices the essential qualities for global engineers: acceptance of diverse cultures, communication skills, self-learning skills, problem finding and solution skills, and engineering design skills. To cultivate these qualities, Kyutech offers a variety of study programs and the best learning environment. Also, we believe a university is a place for knowledge creation, which unlocks the future. Kyutech always seeks opportunities for information exchange, dialogue, and collaboration with the public to introduce our various education and research activities. Kyutech aggressively promotes international exchange by signing exchange agreements with universities and institutions. We accept exchange students from our partner universities, and many of our students study abroad with exchange programs.
  8. Fukuhara Gakuen was established in 1947 by the founder, Gunzo Fukuhara, based on his belief that "proper education cannot be realized if there was not in private schools a healthy spirit in building learning institutions. The spirit of "Managing Self-reliance" is the expectation of Kyushu Kyoritsu University. It is also life's rule, which you should understand throughout your life. Due to this university having this expectation as the root of our instructional activity, students can follow the standards they set up and act on it with individual judgment and responsibility by respecting the rules, having the enterprising spirit of work, and applying correct principles. Recently, this university has incorporated a powerful carrier support system. Construction of the life-long career development system is recognized as a modern GP by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. Also, we concentrate on nurturing the power of the human being. The duty of the student is learning. However, it is not limited to the classroom curriculum. Encounters with every person experiences acquired through various activities enlarge the student field of vision, and all experiences which have to value is what they "learn." The motive of the founder, Gunzo Fukuhara, to establish a private school was to set an aim in life directly from childhood to the prime of life wherein education, having uniform intellectual principles and results injected to the child devoid of anxieties of non-human education, values the growth development of the individual character. Therefore, an educational institute's ideal building is to construct a public school that offers consistency from kindergarten to university. That spirit is "education by the people for the people." Gunzo Fukuhara'sFukuhara's excellent education derived from his educational experience is as Socrates'Socrates' statement that [initially education should not be conducted as an occupation but should be conducted by a teacher who feels that it is his humane mission.] Also, a teacher should exert himself to teaching throughout his life. Our private school's teacher's spirit should be as the educational spirit of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (a Swiss educational reformer) is memorialized on epigraphy. Gunzo Fukuhara himself, being very aware of human immaturity, felt far from his ideal teacher image. However, he thought an idea is an idea. He would live to incarnate the idea consistently and find the significance of the human being's formation and continuously was diligent about this as his mission in life. There is a Spirit of Building a Learning Institute at this school. Managing Self-Reliance is an expression created from abundant educational experience through Gunzo Fukuhara'sFukuhara's life. This expression's meaning is profound and will be of great profit to students who study here as part of their life training. "Self-Reliance" is casting a light on the road through your acts and intentions, which will correct the injustices of self-interests and egocentric opinions. "Managing" is doing something virtuous which puts you on the path of intelligence. Lao-tzu stated that one should "condemn inaction and teach silence" which shows circumstances of freedom that by reading books one can know the path and by respecting others one can learn and follow the "affection" of Buddha, the "virtue" of Confucius and the "love" of Christ. If we act on these simple words, we will be able to "judge ourselves concretely." We will be able to manage any state of affairs by not doing anything wrong. The power to deal with things in life is by correct self-reliance and wisdom and regard everyday life as your learning studio to sophisticate your self-introspection.
  9. Japanese Red Cross Kyushu International College of Nursing (JRCKICN) was established in 2001 under the Japanese Red Cross Academy. Our nursing education is based on the philosophy of 'Humanity,' one of the seven principles of the Red Cross. Our goal is to educate students to be professional nurses who can protect human dignity and advocate for human rights through nursing practice. As the only Red Cross nursing college in Japan bearing "international" in its name, our nursing education is focused on internationalism. The spirit is reflected in our slogan: Let us care for the world just as we care for an individual. It has been 125 years since the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) started a nursing training program during the Meiji Period. JRCS has been systematizing nursing care and producing several nursing leaders in various fields ever since. History has shown how the nurses equipped with the Red Cross spirit have been taking on active and honorable roles in helping sufferers in the 1896 Sanriku earthquake, World War I, and World War II. Following our predecessors' footsteps, JRCKICN actively engaged in helping victims in the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes, and 2017 Northern Kyushu Flood, as part of Red Cross activities titled 'Disaster/Emergency Nursing.' These are just some examples of our educational practice, which is true to the spirit and name of JRCKICN. Japanese Red Cross Academy of Nursing and its affiliated colleges follow the humanitarian principles of the Red Cross "regardless of enemies or allies" and "cherish human life and dignity." We aim to develop human resources who aspire to protect human life and health as future nurses and care providers. We provide them the advanced nursing and care provider education required to obtain the certificates they aim for. Japanese Red Cross Academy of Nursing and its affiliated colleges expect our future alumni, in the spirit of the Red Cross, to take an active part in protecting human life and dignity in large-scale disasters and disputes regardless of nationality, as well as faithfully carry out their mission as nurses and care providers. Therefore, our curriculum includes the techniques and knowledge required for nurse and care provider certificates and fundamental knowledge of the Red Cross and international humanitarian law, and the skills and techniques of disaster nursing and international health. Along with providing high-quality lectures and practicum in nursing, our college also emphasizes Liberal Arts education to lead students into awareness and appreciation of the diversity of human values. In 2016, our graduate school commenced 'Doctoral Course in Nursing' in cooperation with four other Red Cross nursing colleges in Japan. Now, several doctoral studies are in progress, taking advantage of our strengthened system for research guidance. We also have two divisions, 'Research Center for International Programs and Services' and 'Center of Continuing Education for Nurses', where we are actively improving the practice and strategies of nursing. JRCKICN is for those who hope to offer a helping hand to people in distress and enhance people's health and quality of life through nursing practice: Yes, we are for you!

    Kyushu University

On our 100th anniversary in 2011, Kyushu University raised the slogan "Breakthrough Top 100 University" to leap into the top hundred universities in the world in all fields. Our underlying philosophy is to "continue autonomous reform as well as to ensure an international quality of education and become a center of research and education of the highest standards, full of vitality, and constantly addressing future challenges." Kyushu University's strength as a key university is that researchers conduct creative, necessary academic studies in a wide range of fields based on their intellectual curiosity. A broad foundation for academic research enriches cultural and social life, becomes the motivational force for innovation, and has allowed us to boldly face up to once unimaginable global environmental issues, to our current resource and energy problems, and to the pathology and treatment of incurable diseases, which has led to many great achievements. Focusing on these fundamental values of academic research, we will strengthen the support system to develop it further. In academic research, we will become the driving force for contact between different fields to develop new frontiers. We aim to promote highly specialized academic fields and integrate and fuse these academic fields into a greater whole. For areas that are expected to lead to outstanding world-class research achievements, we will aim for further heights and emphasize supporting these fields to form a world-class research center, actively promoting cutting-edge research that leads to solving the problems that humanity faces and by proposing and demonstrating new social systems. Science and technology, including the humanities and social sciences, all support social and economic development. Also, modern times require people who can play an active role in a globalizing society and economy. Such persons need to develop basic knowledge across the humanities and sciences and interdisciplinary thinking skills for problem-solving and the ability and attitude to autonomously continue learning to identify problems and find solutions. Communication skills are also essential to cooperate and build good relationships with people holding different values, and this includes foreign language proficiency. Kyushu University aims to develop such skills in its students. By actively promoting study abroad in its core education departments and the new departments that are being prepared, we will train active learners with high international awareness. Since ancient times, Kyushu has been the gateway to Japan for receiving continental civilization and has fostered a local culture with tolerance for different cultures. The campus is located in the very area that first took up continental culture, and it is surrounded by the precious nature of the sea and mountains. Students develop in this productive cultural and natural environment, with excellent teachers in education and research, an international student body, and a wide-ranging interaction with people in the local community. In the local industry, they will become independent and develop into future leaders of society. With the low birthrate and aging population, it is critical to developing industry and employment opportunities to develop and pass on a rich culture underpinned by vibrant economic activity. Kyushu University will contribute powerfully to the creation and development of the local industry by leading innovation in science and technology. In recent years, science and technology innovation has been applied rapidly and implemented in society through wide-ranging interactions between universities, industry, the public sector, and the private sector. As seen in our research on hydrogen energy and social information infrastructure, Kyushu University contributes to regional vitalization by becoming a core of open innovation and promoting strong cooperation between industry, academia, the public sector, and the private sector.
  11. 12. 14. View full university
  15. 16. View full university
  17. View full university

  20. View full university
