  1. The Al-Zaytoonah Private University of Jordan (henceforth, Al-Zaytoonah) was established in 1993 after receiving its license and general accreditation by Decision No. 848 on March 6, 1993. Instruction began on September 6, 1993. Al-Zaytoonah has witnessed considerable progress at both the infrastructure and academic levels. It now includes six faculties, encompassing 19 undergraduate specializations and one graduate program. There are 300 faculty members of various ranks distributed among the six faculties of the University, and 80 teaching and research assistants and lab technicians. Also, there are 210 administrative employees and 260 workers. The number of students enrolled at the University in the academic year 2005/2006 is 8,000, of whom 6,880 students are Jordanian. The non-Jordanian students come from 28 Arab and foreign countries. Jordanian and non-Jordanian students are admitted according to the regulations set up by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research. Al-Zaytoonah follows the credit-hour system, enabling students to select the courses they like to sign up for according to their study plans. Arabic is the official language of instruction, although English is used in several courses offered by all faculties. French is also used in the French Department. An active contribution in the sustainable development of the society and providing the labor market with the specialized competencies capable of leadership, entrepreneur, and creativity through implementing proper planning, wise governance, modern teaching and learning methods, transfer of technology, and by focusing on applied scientific research, developing attractive scientific and teaching environment, choosing skilled and experienced workforce, partnering with notable higher education institutions, and applying quality assurance and competitiveness standards. University Values: National belonging Leadership and teamwork Integrity and transparency Justice and equal opportunities Continuous learning Others’ opinion respect and cultural pluralism The Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan recognizes the importance of research and development and its active role in the progression of human knowledge and society. As part of the philosophy and mission in supporting and promoting research, the University has entrusted exceptional diligence to scientific research and founded the “Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies” at the beginning of 2006. The Deanship is responsible for organizing, supervising, promoting, and supporting academic research and graduate work. Such tasks are considered means for vast development and technological advancement. The Deanship has identified its mission and tasks under the instructions of graduate studies requirements approved by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (HEAC). The Deanship developed a top priority to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of graduate programs offered by different faculties, together with improving the standards of scientific research for both students and faculty members in order to consolidate the University as a center of excellence, thus improving its competitiveness in higher education and the industry at the local, regional and international levels. This is carried out by encouraging institutional work with excellence and thrive to perfection through the provision of a well equipped, suitable research environment that motivates both faculty and students to excel in aim for perfection.
