  1. This school opened in September 2013 as a four-form entry primary school, located next door to Guru Nanak Academy. As Executive Principal across the Multi-Academy Trust, I am proud to see all phases of the school working together, to provide the very best standard of education for our pupils, putting the pupils at the heart of everything that we do! Our aim is not only to provide an excellent education for young people but to also instill a lifelong love of learning. We do this with humility and in the name of our founder Baba Amar Singh Ji. Nanaksar Primary has a committed and dedicated team of staff, who strive to provide our pupils with the core values and skills which are fundamental to their achievement. We believe in the value of teamwork and work in partnership with our parents and carers, to ensure our children reach their full potential. Since its opening, Nanaksar Primary has mirrored the excellent practice of Guru Nanak Sikh Academy and we will strive to be a flagship free school in the UK. We are a school that prides itself on being warm, friendly, and inclusive. We have a clear vision for our school which unites staff, governors, families, and children. We share a determination that all children will achieve the very best that they can and go on to become life-long learners. We believe in the importance of supporting and challenging children to achieve academically, whilst also caring about their development as kind, polite and respectful members of our community. Our overall aim is that our pupils leave us as confident, enthusiastic learners prepared for their next stage in education. Our vision is to provide an outstanding learning environment that challenges all of us to achieve our full potential and to continually share our knowledge and skills with the local and global community. Our vision is very simple in that we want : To build a strong community based on the Sikh ethos. To provide a quality education that is broad, balanced, and relevant to the needs of pupils within a modern society. To enable all pupils to achieve their potential through the highest standards of teaching and learning. To develop each pupil’s self-esteem, confidence, and independence with consideration for others and the concept of Sewa. To strengthen bonds between home, community, and school, providing a preparation for each pupil’s entry into the wider community. To be committed to encouraging every member of our community to invest in life-long learning and personal development. The values of all schools within the Guru Nanak Multi Academies Trust are encapsulated by the S.H.A.R.E acronym. These values are at the heart of everything we do as a school and they describe the qualities our students and staff value most- Service to others, Humility, Achievement, Respect, and Equality.
  2. Myrddin Community Primary School was built in 1960 and is situated in its own attractive and extensive grounds. The school is set in an elevated position within the county town of Carmarthen and enjoys panoramic views of Carmarthen town and the lower Towy Valley. The catchment area comprises some privately-owned housing but mostly social housing. There are many places of interest to visit in the surrounding area, which offer the school a range of opportunities for enhancing its curriculum through first-hand experiences. The school is made up of four mixed-age classes in the mainstream, which caters to pupils between the ages of three and eleven years ago. The school has a special needs unit attached. The Myrddin Special Needs Unit was established in 1975 and is made up of three special classes for pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. In 1999 an Autistic Unit was added to the school providing education for pupils aged 3 to 11years of age on the autistic spectrum. The school provides a warm, safe, happy and caring environment for both pupils and staff. All staff members are firmly committed to providing equality of opportunity for all and ensuring that the potential of each child is fulfilled. The school has a very good reputation in the community for the quality of education and level of care provided for the pupils. The school prides itself on the close links it has developed with parents and the community. Under Local Authority guidelines, pupils are admitted to the Unit following recommendations by the ‘Placement Panel’ meeting held at the Education Office. The Units then hold an admission panel with parents and agencies to ensure that all needs identified in the statement of educational needs can be met. Parents and agencies are invited to the school to discuss their child’s development, progress, and future targets. View full school

  4. Here we are at the start of a new academic year, looking forward to the opportunities that will present themselves to the school and most importantly to pupils. At this time, also looking back over the last year, Mynyddygarreg has firmly established itself as an exemplar to other schools, offering a high standard of education and growing in confidence with every year. As always, the pupils enjoyed many activities in school, visits to other schools, and trips around the area, all of which add richness to the curriculum and make learning fun. Once again, the variety of sporting opportunities was enhanced by sharing with a larger school, giving pupils the chance to make more friends and take part in team sports. The school has also excelled in its musical, cultural, and arts, taking part in Eisteddfodau on local and county levels. By far our biggest change this year has been the retirement of Mrs. Owen our much loved and respected Head. Throughout her short time here, Mrs. Owen has developed the school into one that is well regarded for the quality of its teaching and the success it brings to pupils. As a new term begins we welcome Mr. Jones as her replacement, confident in the knowledge that Mr. Jones knows the school well and will bring his ideas, whilst maintaining the high levels we have already reached. Ysgol Mynyddygarreg is a Welsh-medium school. Children are immersed in the Welsh language on entry into the Reception class. The main language of instruction throughout the foundation phase and Key Stage 2 is Welsh. However, English is taught in lessons in K.S.2 and an emphasis on bilingualism ensures that pupils achieve high standards in both languages by the end of K.S.2. Our vision is to provide a happy, caring, and stimulating environment that promotes curiosity, enthusiasm, and respect and where children will recognize and achieve their potential. Each child should feel valued and be proud of their culture and heritage so that they can make the best contribution to society. The Headteacher meets with prospective parents before their children starting school during open mornings. This enables parents to see the close communication between the Cylch Meithrin and Reception class and explain the schools’ teaching and learning strategies. We aim to inform parents how the staff works together and the efforts that are taken to ensure pupils’ transition from Pre-school into Reception is as seamless as possible. This message is reiterated by all teaching staff in parent meetings etc. Parents are helped and supported by teachers in helping with homework tasks. Non-Welsh speaking pupils from English medium schools who join the school are fast-tracked with intensive lessons. Mynyddygarreg School naturally feeds Ysgol y Strade. Ysgol y Strade is a Welsh-medium school. Joint activities are arranged throughout Year 5 and 6 and parents' evenings are held so that transition is as smooth as possible. However, parents will be able to choose if they wish their child to attend another secondary school if desired and arrangements can be made to help with the transition. Data shows many improvements in teaching and learning during the year. The national tests place the school above our family of schools, the county, and Wales. The results of tests along with Teacher Assessments have formed the basis for intervention groups. Pupils who need extra support in specific areas are taught in groups daily. Intervention strategies such as ‘Hwb Ymlaen’, ‘Numicon’, and ‘CHATT’ are used. Progress of all learners is regularly and carefully tracked using Inserts. The introduction of the digital competency framework has given new focus to the IT work across the curriculum. Mrs. Davies, I.T. Co-ordinator at Mynyddygarreg School has attended training courses and together with the IT Co-ordinator at Trimsaran School has provided staff training for teachers. Skills are tracked, from Reception to Year 6, and have been slotted into the various themes taught. This work is still ongoing. View full school

  6. At Mynydd Cynffig Primary School will be one where s/he can learn in a happy and safe environment, where s/he will develop and apply their skills and knowledge to a range of challenges and where s/he will build positive memories of their school experience alongside our excellent teachers and support staff. Currently, our school is organized on two separate sites within the village of Kenfig Hill in the County Borough of Bridgend, South Wales. The Foundation Phase (formerly Infant) Department, based on the Commercial Street site, accommodates approximately 220 children ranging in age from 3 – 7. These pupils are organized into eight classes. The Key Stage 2 (formerly Junior) Department also accommodates approximately 220 pupils ranging in age from 7 - 11 based on the Pwllygath Street site. These pupils are also organized into eight classes. As a recently-amalgamated school, one of our many aims is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our pupils. We look for quality in all of our activities so that our children become confident, well-mannered, and well-behaved individuals who can work cooperatively and collaboratively as well as developing their independence. We encourage our children to be respectful and responsible and to develop an awareness of their place within our school community, the community of Kenfig Hill, in Wales, and the wider world. As a school, we fully recognize the important role parents play in their child’s development as a learner. We look forward to working together with you, forming a respectful and effective partnership that will have a positive impact on your child’s education. Mynydd Cynffig Primary School encourages high standards in all aspects of school life. Pupils and their parents are valued as individuals and any ideas or opinions of any kind will be given full consideration. A caring ethos and good standards of behavior are actively encouraged. The school keenly promotes the importance of living values, including caring, friendship, honesty, trust, etc. At the beginning of each school year, pupils are engaged in the selection of the values we will promote for the forthcoming year through ‘Value of the Month’. Assembly time, circle time, and class discussions are used to deliver this values program. Democratic decision-making is a skill we actively promote at the school. Indeed, we have several Pupil Councils, for example, School Council, Eco-Committee, Sports Council, and Crew Cymraeg, in place to ensure that the opinions and ideas of our children are heard and valued. Music Stuff

Music Stuff is a (secondary) independent school based in Manchester. Music Stuff Education operates as an alternative education provider, providing educational services for pupils on the role of Manchester Secondary PRU. We tailor our educational provision, towards pupils who have been excluded or are at the risk of being permanently excluded from mainstream schooling. The philosophy driving music stuff is one of dedication to the development of human potential as a way of increasing a sense of personal identity, self-belief, and confidence, as well as providing access to new experiences and knowledge. Music Stuff believes that fear of failure and some negative life patterns can stop young people from achieving their full potential and by finding ways to break destructive patterns young people will experience raised self-esteem and increased aspirations, and they will develop a stronger sense of identity and personal pride. Music Stuff is an alternative education provider which specializes in educating disengaged young people throughout Greater Manchester. Taking this expertise, whilst fostering our inclusive approach, we transitioned into an independent school in 2011 and have since seen expediential progress and growth. We pride ourselves on supporting vulnerable young people through their secondary academic studies. It is a great honor to support all of our academic community in embracing our school philosophy. It is the firm belief of all staff that any young person is capable of succeeding if given the time, support, and resources to do so. Within the past 5 years, we have celebrated multiple successes we continue to enjoy sharing positive results and successful progressions with pupils who assumed they would be destined for failure. We recognize that our mission is constantly evolving so we will continue to advance our practices, team, and resources to best support the young people we educate. Going forward we will ensure we continue to offer relevant qualifications, inclusive learning, and unique interventions to develop lifelong learners who are respectable, employable, and happy citizens of the community. All pupils are either (solely) on a roll with the Manchester Secondary PRU as they have been permanently excluded (PX), or, dual-rolled with Manchester Secondary PRU and a Manchester secondary high school being referred to Manchester Secondary PRU as an alternative to permanent exclusion (APX). All governors are members of at least one of these committees. These sub-committees report back to the full governing body at each full meeting to keep everyone informed. The Governing Body committees meet regularly. In this way, all aspects of school life are scrutinized by the governors of the school and can act as a ‘critical friend to the Principal and staff of the school. Some of the policies were developed by Manchester Secondary PRU, however, they still extend to all staff within Music Stuff Education. As such, all young people are designated on the MSPRU’s SEND Register of Additional Needs as being at the second tier of provision, known as SEN Support. This listing sits alongside a basic outline of the nature of their needs. The nature of such needs typically come under the umbrella term Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs but often will also include Cognition and Learning Needs, which range from moderate learning difficulties to specific learning needs, such as Dyslexia or Communication and Interaction Needs, which require specialist advice and/ or input. Some young people may also have Physical and Medical Needs, including hearing and visual impairments. A young person experiencing significant difficulties following instructions and managing everyday routines or maintaining attention to age-appropriate tasks without additional support A young person experiencing a lot of difficulties in understanding everyday conversation, inference, and more complex ideas and/ or struggling to make their needs known using language A young person may have access to specialist assessment and advice from specialist services such as SALT, specialist outreach or an Educational Psychologist to inform programs and activities to develop the young person’s social skills. Therefore, the Director of Inclusion and Heads of Year oversee all referrals for inclusion support other than those whose provision is directly supervised by the Support for Learning Faculty, when the Head of Year will liaise with the Head of Faculty and appropriate staff. 18. Welcome to Much Woolton Catholic Primary School. We are a warm, friendly Catholic school community that strives to provide our children with an outstanding and enjoyable learning experience, rooted in Christ's teachings. We like to think that Much Woolton Catholic Primary is an energetic, forward-thinking family school where every child is allowed to thrive through a holistic provision that tries to find and nurture each child’s talents and wishes. We pride ourselves not just on academic success, of which there is plenty, but also on the social, cultural, sporting, artistic, spiritual, and developmental successes that all our children experience. We aim to ensure that all our children are ready, both for secondary school but also for the world beyond school. With Jesus, we love, learn, and grow. To do this we will: Be a Christian community that follows Jesus in living out Gospel values. Provide opportunities for all to grow and achieve their full potential, by igniting a desire for lifelong learning. Be a beacon of light that shines out to others, sharing faith, hope, and love. Provide quality collective worship and enriching liturgical celebrations. Enable our children to acquire an excellent religious education, through a well taught and resourced Come and See program. Encourage all to develop their understanding of and relationship with God, while at the same time respecting that others choose to express their faith in different ways. Provide a stimulating curriculum, which is fun, challenging, and relevant to the needs of our children. Have high expectations of ourselves and each other, in all that we do. Ensure that all children reach their full potential through effective planning, assessment, and evaluation, which will inform their next steps. Create a positive atmosphere where all feel valued and are welcomed into our school community. Develop positive links between the school and parish community. Learn about and appreciate other faiths and cultures. Use our talents as responsible citizens to enrich the lives of others in our local and the global community. Each year group publishes a half-termly 'Learning Journey' newsletter which details the learning our children will experience during that half term. In English, we use the 'Read Write Inc' program for EYFS and Key Stage 1 children, which also includes learning phonics. In Key Stage 2, we use 'Literacy and Language' which follows on from 'Read Write Inc. In Mathematics we use a variety of resources, including the Liverpool Calculation Policy. We use the Collins Maths scheme to supplement learning, as well as Mathletics online practice and learning program for class and homework. In RE we follow the 'Come and See' Archdiocesan scheme of work. Our foundation subjects work towards a topic-based approach, linking subjects to improve learning where possible. We strive to write creatively and to high standards across the curriculum and we use a 'Book Art' approach to showcase this writing. We have just participated in Children's Mental Health Week 2018. The children began the week by watching 'The Big Assembly' as a whole school. The children heard a video message from the Duchess of Cambridge, a Patron of 'Place2Be' which is a leading children's mental health charity. In class, each day the children discussed a variety of topics with their teachers and talked about how to keep their brains healthy. View full school

  20. Moyles Court. While there are many beautiful and historic school buildings throughout the country, few reside within a National Park boundary in the way that Moyles Court School does. The New Forest, well known for its ancient heathlands, deep forests, and native ponies, attracts visitors from around the world. We’re pleased to say that our little corner remains very peaceful and it is only really local people who walk and enjoy the beautiful heathlands. Being able to walk directly out of our own safely enclosed gardens, straight into the New Forest, means we can maintain a healthy and natural outdoor life for our children and help satisfy their natural curiosity and energy. All pupils at the school enjoy their immediate surroundings with its huge sandpit – formed on the south side of a natural sandhill – the ford, brook, and surrounding lakes. It is here that Geography, Science, History, and Art start to take form for many of our children. There is also the physical activity of walking, exploring, and sailing on the local lakes. The school grounds of 14 acres are enclosed and the school enjoys a very open, sunny aspect. We have our woodland and we actively encourage wildlife to thrive there. It is only natural that we should be part of the Forest Schools initiative where children learn about conservation and natural habitats. The school site is large enough to accommodate a modern sports hall, Early Years and Pre-School facilities, gardens, sports fields, and an all-weather multi-sports court. Moyles Court School is a preserved and well-maintained historic house with a warming family atmosphere. It has retained many of its traditional features while providing a stimulating and beautiful place to learn. Moyles Court is unique in every way. The ethos and purpose of our school are encapsulated in our Mission Statement: “Moyles Court School educates each pupil within an inspiring, challenging and nurturing environment, to become responsible and respectful members of an ever-changing international community” At Moyles Court, we recognize the importance of providing an academic and broad-based education, designed to enable all pupils to discover their strengths and allow them to flourish and fulfill their potential. They are encouraged to work effectively, both independently and as a team, and to express their creativity and powers of imagination in a stimulating and supportive environment. We strive to foster self-confidence, enthusiasm, resilience, tolerance, good manners, and integrity and provide a level of pastoral care that nurtures both physical health and emotional maturity. We recognize that for future success, life skills play an equally important role alongside academic achievement and encourage our pupils to be innovative, compassionate, and purposeful. 22. Mowlem is a happy, safe, and successful place of learning and we want to build a long and rewarding relationship with you. We believe we can only do our very best when we all work together in genuine partnership with you and the wider community. We aim to give your child every opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards in everything they do. We encourage a ‘can-do attitude to everything. We have a clear vision and a deeply held set of values - our ‘butterflies’ which underpin all aspects of our work at Mowlem - Creativity, Inspiration, Achievement, Collaboration, Leadership. We believe that children need to leave our school with the core skills and qualities that will equip them well for the next stage in their education as well as in life beyond school. Our aim is that children at Mowlem Primary School will become confident, lifelong learners. We can only do this successfully if we work together and have a positive partnership between home and school. Mowlem Primary School is committed to serving its community. It recognizes the multi-cultural, multi-faith, and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom. To create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Through our implicit and explicit curriculum (particularly through our behavior policy, assemblies, circle time, and through our broad and balanced curriculum, the subjects of PSHE, RE, Modern Foreign Languages and Literacy) we teach our pupils about democracy, personal and civic responsibility, rules and laws, the monarchy, equality, values and virtues, environmental awareness and respectful understanding of other faiths and ethnic cultures. We actively promote values, virtues, and ethics that shape our pupils' character and moral perspective. Our staff model to our pupils the values through their behavior and teach the values implicitly through every aspect of the curriculum, ensuring equality and excellence for all pupils. Mowlem Primary School seeks to foster a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment, which allows us to question and challenge discrimination and inequality, resolve conflicts peacefully, and work and learn free from harassment and violence. We recognize that there are similarities and differences between individuals and groups but we will strive to ensure that our differences do not become barriers to participation, access, and learning and to create inclusive processes and practices, where the varying needs of individuals and groups are identified and met. We therefore cannot achieve equality for all by treating everyone the same. We will build on our similarities and seek enrichment from our differences and so promote understanding and learning between and towards others to create cohesive communities. View full school

  24. We all know that young people today face pressures that educational leaders never experienced during their school days. As pupils nationally are driven to fly higher, schools and families must do as much as they can to strengthen the wings needed to keep them in flight. Educators must look several decades ahead: the society in which we want those currently in our care to thrive will be very different from the society we know today. Today, we must prepare young people to rise to challenges we cannot fully imagine. The white water of growing up is hard enough to steer through at the best of times. The best way to allow a child to fulfill their potential is to throw them into as many real, collaborative experiences as possible. The obvious point to make about good school life is that it will take you outside as often as not, for physical, psychological, and spiritual reasons – and this is what we passionately endorse at Mowden Hall. Education should not start and stop at the classroom door. At Mowden, we believe that everyone can, and will, improve. Without exploration and freedom of expression, children will not be developing resilience and a sense of self. Our school focuses on kindness to others, something I believe should permeate every member of a school’s community from support staff, teachers, and leaders through to the very hearts of the pupils themselves. Rather than encouraging us to cling to the past, tradition and experience should make us look back, evaluate, consider and then develop what we do. Change brings with it glorious opportunities. We are not afraid of change at Mowden Hall and constantly strive for excellence in all areas. Education is a complex web of opportunities and priorities, yet we aim to create an environment in which pupils are willing and inspired to take these risks, imagine the unimaginable and exploit unknown territories. After all, great things never came from within comfort zones. There is nothing in the universe, without exception, that is not interesting if looked at from the right angle. Especially people. Everyone is interesting. Everyone has a story. Every conversation is a chance to learn something new. Mowden Hall aims to provide a first-class education, in which every child is allowed to achieve his or her potential within a broad range of academic, cultural, and sporting pursuits. Above all, we believe that our high ideals, excellent pastoral care, and traditional family values help Mowdenians to grow up happily and honorably, with self-respect, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility and consideration for others and the wider community. Mowden Hall is committed to maintaining our reputation as a caring, happy, and creative school wherein each child is valued and encouraged to maximize all opportunities on offer. We aim to do this by: Providing a safe, secure environment Developing a sense of community in which staff and children respect one another and self-discipline and responsibility are important Creating, through example, an atmosphere where not only excellence is valued, but also commitment and effort Working to give children a love of learning and an enquiring mind Constantly evaluating what we do Helping children to understand that they have a part to play in the community and the wider environment including their impact upon it Preparing children for the next stage in their education, and successful and happy life in the wider world Considering the whole child and making provision for intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and moral development View full school
