North London Grammar School is a brand new school. But at the same time, we are not new to education. NLGS is the next step on a journey we started 10 years ago, trying to bring the best value-for-money education to North London.
In 2006, our team opened Wisdom School in Tottenham, Haringey. Our goal was to create a low-cost independent school where we could provide high-class education that focused on DISTINCTION in literacy in a welcoming and diverse atmosphere. We were so successful in achieving our aims that we have been hugely oversubscribed.
To offer our model for educational excellence to more students, we have moved from our small but beautiful old building in Tottenham (6000 sq ft) to a brand new 50,000 sq ft site in Hendon with state-of-the-art design and technology. Our new premises support the growing needs of our students, allowing us to provide unparalleled education involving academic research and the holistic development of our student's unique capabilities and talents.
We have also changed our name a bold decision fuelled by a bold dream. Why North London Grammar School? Well, we’re proud of calling London our home, one of the great world cities, and especially proud of being at the center of the cosmopolitan North London community. We call ourselves a grammar school to reflect the kind of school we want to be: focused on academic excellence, nurturing intelligence, and learning through self-discipline. Wisdom School was our cradle, and we have used its experience to foster North London Grammar School. Our experienced Senior Leadership Team has turned NLGS into a school that is “good with outstanding features”

North London Grammar School is an independent, nondenominational, modern grammar school, focussing on Mathematics and Science delivered within a strong Information Technology framework with the latest equipment for immersive and dynamic teaching. Our students use tablets in their lessons independently or in conjunction with the Interactive TV Board available in each classroom to extend the interactive activity of each lesson.
When a student arrives at North London Grammar School, they will be allocated a tutor group which will be led by a Form Tutor who stays with the tutor group for the duration of the Lower School. This allows the Form Tutor to build a happy, secure, and supportive relationship with their group and with the parents, fostering achievement throughout these formative years at our school. When students join the Upper School they are fully supported by an expert team of specialist tutors. The Form Tutors support and guide students through the rigors of GCSE and A-Level examinations and play a key role in university admissions and career guidance.
