- We strive to achieve the highest standards by stimulating and challenging the children. We have high expectations of every child and they work hard to show their best. We believe Shaw Hill Primary School is at the heart of our community. We have positive relationships with the children and their families, which enables us to create a friendly, safe, and supportive environment for all to achieve and enjoy. We have a caring and hard-working staff team who bring out the best in our children. We are focused on developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding which will enable the children to be happy, successful citizens and be prepared for life in modern Britain.” Shaw Hill Primary School strives to create a safe environment where children can achieve their full potential in all aspects of their learning. We will achieve this by creating a learning environment that is stimulating, challenging, inclusive, and enjoyable. Shaw Hill aims to promote self-esteem, confidence, respect for self and others, and care for the community. Our curriculum is designed to develop cultural appreciation, including many aspects of British heritage such as our art and music, as well as taking into account the cultural heritage of our pupils’ families. We are keen to provide opportunities for our pupils to have experiences outside of the classroom and have built these into the curriculum, such as visits to the local church, RAF Cosford and trips into Birmingham City Centre to visit the Art Gallery and museum amongst others. At Shaw Hill, we strongly promote an anti-discrimination message, both through our curriculum and through additional activities such as assemblies, enrichment activities, and celebrations throughout the year. Our activities reflect the school's inclusive ethos fundamental British values are regularly discussed and promoted, in particular, the need for tolerance and respect for all regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), religion and belief, and sexual identity. We are currently exploring how to develop our provision to further our pupil's understanding of their role in sharing this message within the school and the local community. Our pupils will further extend their understanding of why tolerance and respect are so essential and will have the opportunity to reflect on their behaviors and attitudes towards others. Lessons have been designed to promote discussion about how we might be different from each other how families are diverse how stereotypes can be constructed and interpreted how we develop our sense of identity and how bullying relating to race, age, religion, gender, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation is dealt with in school and the UK as a whole. Shaw Hill School values the contribution that every child can make and welcomes the diversity of culture, religion, and intellectual style. As a school, we seek to raise achievement, remove barriers to learning and increase physical and curricular access for all. All children at Shaw Hill are valued, respected, and equal members of the school. Provision for children with SEN is a matter for the whole school. All teachers are teachers of pupils with SEN. The Governing body, Head Teacher, Inclusion Manager, and all other members of the staff – teaching and non-teaching – have important roles to play in creating an inclusive environment. Above all, Shaw Hill School aims to provide an atmosphere in which all children can reach their full potential through praise and encouragement and an acceptance of and sensitivity to the individual needs of all the children within the school.
- Shakhsiyah Schools are governed by the Principles of Shakhsiyah Education, which have been developed through extensive research to generate a 21st-century Islamic educational model that is true to the Qur’an and sunnah. We have a strong Islamic and ‘alternative’ ethos which means we don’t approach learning in the same way as other schools. Our priorities are different and therefore our practice is different. We have a holistic approach that has similarities with various ‘alternative’ models including un-schooling, homeschooling, Human Scale Education, Steiner Schools, and Montessori, amongst others. Above all, we aim to educate our children to be strong independent Muslims who recognize their interdependence on others and choose to serve Islam due to their conviction. We engage in tarbiyah, ta’alim and taadib to develop Shakhsiyah Islamiyah. Under the saying of Ali ibn Abi Talib, we educate our children for a time that is not our time (the future). As such we aim to prepare children for their future life in modern Britain and our global village, taking part in and serving their local and wider communities. Shakhsiyah educators work in partnership with parents to develop each child’s character enabling them to achieve their full potential in all aspects of life including academic success. Shakhsiyah Schools aim to develop leaders who play an active part in their diverse local and global communities, serving both the Muslim community and humanity. Shakhsiyah Schools prepare children for their future life in modern Britain and our global village by developing confidence in their Islamic culture and respect for other cultures, fostering harmony in our diverse communities. Shakhsiyah Schools’ mission is to provide personalized character education our ethos requires an aims-based or values-based approach to curriculum design. Shakhsiyah Schools’ curricula are built upon and embody the Principles of Shakhsiyah Education generating learning for life and the akhirah (hereafter). Our holistic curricula transcend the boundaries imposed by traditional subjects. We believe that children do not think naturally in terms of different subjects but tend to have a more holistic view of the world. Children’s natural learning and development as human beings require a meaningful, real-life, and purposeful curriculum that gives them a sense of their place in the world as khalifa tul and (stewards of the earth). At the core of our curricula is Halaqah, an Islamic oral-dialogical pedagogy that we have developed for use with children in the 21st-century context. We have also devised our unique curriculum for Halaqah. This Halaqah Curriculum is further intertwined with Qur’an and Quranic Arabic to develop a bilingual curriculum. All other learning in our holistic thematic curriculum draws on Halaqah and Qur’an. This is because we understand that we are asked by Allah ta’ala to look around the world to see His Signs and ponder on His glory. We realize it is our role to read these meanings in the Universe to appreciate and thank Allah ta’ala for all the Blessings that He has bestowed upon us. Glory be to the One who created all knowledge as a means to come to know Him. Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation has grown out of the quest undertaken by home-schooling Muslim mothers to generate a contemporary education system from Qur’an, Sunnah, and classical Islamic pedagogy. Shakhsiyah Education principles are built on the solid foundation of our deen and derived from the understanding of the deen as Iman, Islam, and Ihsan. In Shakhsiyah Education, these foundational concepts of deen have been related to the foundational concepts of Islamic education, tarbiyah, ta’alim, and taadib. In Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation schools and educational projects, the following principles shape every aspect of our work and are the commitment that binds together a community of learning, which involves children, Muslim youth, teachers, and parents. - Shaftesbury Primary School is a large multi-cultural, inner-city school where there are over 40 languages spoken. For over 90% of the learners, English is learned as an additional language. Also, the school’s pupil population is very mobile. The school’s staff team acknowledges that we have children who join us from different starting points in all year groups, but that does not stop us from expecting that all children will make very good progress to maximize their potential: be they very able children, able children or children who find academic learning challenging. The school takes an inclusive approach and structures its teaching and the education it provides to personalize learning. At Shaftesbury Primary School, we know the importance of providing a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum where all children are encouraged to meet high expectations and are empowered to learn effectively. Children are encouraged to take pleasure in their own and others’ learning. We believe it is fundamental that children acquire knowledge, skills, and confidence that can be applied to all future learning experiences. Every child is equally valued as part of the school community and all are encouraged, indeed expected, to achieve their full potential. Shaftesbury aspires to create a successful learning culture, which will enable pupils to become informed, confident, enthusiastic, and independent learners. Our ethos is one in which the pupil’s interest and their quality of learning are central to the school’s work and purpose. All are encouraged to achieve their full potential and celebrate their achievement. We believe that our school should be a happy, caring, and secure environment, where all individuals are valued without any form of discrimination, supported through partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community. We at Shaftesbury primary school are committed to meeting the special educational needs of pupils and ensuring these pupils make rapid and sustained progress, to learn exceptionally well due to targeted and specialist support. At Shaftesbury, we recognize that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We, therefore, aim to provide an education that provides pupils with opportunities to explore and develop their values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behavior, a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions, and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures. This is a whole school issue. Teaching and learning are at the heart of Shaftesbury. Good teaching and learning raise standards of achievement across the whole curriculum. It supports and enables the aims, ethos, and values of our school and provides a secure, well-ordered environment where each child can achieve his/her maximum potential. Shaftesbury has a whole school approach to SMSC. All curriculum areas have a contribution to make to the child's spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, and opportunities for this are planned in each area of the curriculum. - Thank you for taking an interest in Shaftesbury Park Primary School. The school was built in 1877 and is situated at the heart of the Shaftesbury Estate, an area of housing well known for its distinctive cottages, just off Lavender Hill in Battersea. The well-being, achievement, and progress of each child is our highest priority. We have developed Rights Respecting values and an understanding of global citizenship as the core of how we learn together. Through achieving an understanding of the United Nations Convention Rights of the Child we can work together to develop mutual respect and a positive learning environment. It enables our pupils to make sense of their place in the world and their local community. We have a good reputation for being an inclusive school where everybody governors, staff, parents, and children share a vital role in ensuring we provide the best education possible. As a fundamental principle, we aim to develop rounded children who participate fully in their classes and are interested in the world around them. The fact that we draw from a wide range of nationalities and have a successful bilingual stream, enhances the lives of all at Shaftesbury Park and adds to its energy and vibrancy. We have high expectations in all aspects of school life and are extremely committed to providing the most appropriate academic challenge for all our children. Behind these ambitions lies a strong and dedicated staff team with a real commitment to teacher development. We know our pupils as individuals, and understand the importance of pastoral care as well as high academic achievement. The school has recently completed a program of modernizing building work to ensure we are well equipped for our expansion of the bilingual stream. In the academic year 2013-2014, we received an Ofsted ‘good’ rating, which reflects our high standards and the quality of our teaching and learning. Our Vision is Shaftesbury Park Primary School – the local school of choice providing outstanding education to its diverse community. At Shaftesbury Park Primary School every child will make the best progress and reach the highest possible standards they can in all aspects of their development. Pupils will be nurtured as individuals within the school and wider community. They will be aspirational, reflective learners who enjoy their valued role in our school. Through a creative and diverse curriculum, and with the benefits of a bilingual provision, all children will be empowered to succeed academically and socially so they can take a confident place in an increasingly global and digital future. Our Mission At Shaftesbury Park, we are at our best when we: Encourage, listen to, and value contributions from all members of our school community. Engage with parents to support pupils and the school. Give pupils opportunities to play a valuable role in their school, local community, and the wider world. Celebrate successes in all areas of school life. Encourage inquiry, creativity, and curiosity about the world. Help children see how they move on in their learning. Ensure all children can fully take part in school life, through a strong. Emphasis on inclusion, pastoral care, and the safe environment of our school. Strive for a high standard of respect and positive behavior and use our school charters, which are based on the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, as a framework to remind us of these rights. Continually look for opportunities to improve the school. Benefit from the opportunities provided by the school’s bilingualism, regardless of the stream. In September 2013, the school opened its first bilingual (French and English) class in Reception. This will move throughout the school so that eventually each year group will have one bilingual class in addition to the traditional class. All children in the school will benefit from the increased exposure to another language and it will give children in the bilingual class the unique opportunity to learn in and about another language whilst still meeting the demands of the EYFS/ National Curriculum and striving for high standards and progress in their learning. Staff in the bilingual stream will be a mixture of both fluent and native French speakers and there will be carefully planned discrete and integrated opportunities for cultural awareness as well as linguistic development. Children benefit from links with French-speaking countries and other bilingual provisions in the local area. There are certain parts of the timetable which we commit to consistently teaching in English we recognize the importance of high-quality phonics teaching, and so ‘letters and sounds’ phonics sessions, as well as guided reading/ writing activities will be in English during the Foundation Stage. During KS1 children will begin formalized French reading and writing learning, which builds on good practice seen in other bilingual settings. At Shaftesbury Park, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and National Curriculum in KS1 and 2. For further details please see Curriculum. In addition to this, to further support and extend the children in the KS2 bilingual classes, we follow the Nouveaux Programmes – Coccinelle. The Social curriculum is very important in terms of developing speaking and listening skills. Lunch service: As in Reception, a French TA will help with lunch service at year one, helping the children make requests from the foodservice and salad bar in French Lunchtime play: When the children return to their classrooms following lunchtime there are twenty minutes of play-based activities before afternoon lessons start. Children who need more support with their French acquisition have additional support to practice in this natural context. In addition to this children from the classic stream classes, who show a real flair for learning French are invited to join these playtimes. Children enjoy learning together through a play-based curriculum, which includes a significant emphasis on phonic awareness, learning to read and write, and learning to use numbers confidently. Classrooms are bright, well resourced, and celebrate the children’s achievements. Learning takes place both inside and outside every day, throughout the year. All classes in the Foundation Stage benefit from exposure to the bilingual learning environment. Small-group French lessons are provided and the children acquire some basic French through songs, stories, and games. In the bilingual class, during the afternoon there is a French immersion curriculum where all teaching and modeling by the practitioners is in French. Children take part in both whole class and small group activities linked to the topic with an emphasis on oral language development. Key Stage One builds on the learning which has taken place in the Foundation Stage, with staff working together to ensure smooth continuity from Reception to Year 1. Children begin more structured literacy and numeracy lessons linked with their topic learning in a broad range of activities. From year one onwards, pupils have two terms of swimming a year, traveling to our local swimming pool for these lessons. Children in the traditional classes learn French. Our bilingual class begins French phonic sessions in addition to their topic work in French, and this developing phonemic awareness helps with the introduction of French reading and writing. As the children move through Key Stage Two, there is more emphasis on independent learning in preparation for their transition to Key Stage Three. In addition to the focus on academic achievement, many opportunities are provided to develop children’s physical, moral, emotional, creative, and social skills, which is a particular strength of our school. All children are offered the opportunity to go on two residential trips throughout their time in KS2, with one of these being in France. We expect our Year 5 and 6 pupils to take on positions of responsibility throughout the school and be willing to assist in the wider community. Our bilingual classes will continue dedicated sessions to develop their French reading and writing as well as learning about other areas of the curriculum in French. View full school

- The buildings that make up Shaftesbury High School were originally built in the late 1940s as Chantry First and Middle School. Today Shaftesbury shares a site with Hatch End High School, a mainstream school with 1,800 students, and St. Teresa’s, a Roman Catholic First and Middle School. In 1997 Shaftesbury benefited from a major refurbishment. Specialist rooms were redesigned, other classrooms were refurbished and redecorated. New toilets and shower facilities were added and the reception/main entrance areas were redesigned. A new extension was build in 2008 giving Shaftesbury an extra classroom and three specialist rooms for use by students on the Autistic spectrum as well as a new office and a disabled toilet. In June 2010, Shaftesbury took delivery of two modular buildings to house the Sixth Form (Whittlesea Centre). Each year the school is required to hold an Annual Review meeting for all our pupils as they have a ‘Statement of Special Needs’. Parents/Carers are invited and any professional that may be involved with pupil needs whilst they are at Shaftesbury. The following statements from Shaftesbury’s Aims & Ethos. To give all students an equal opportunity in their education, whatever their ability, class, race, or gender. To enable all students to develop their full potential and gain maximum personal and academic achievement. To develop self-confidence, tolerance, and self-esteem in our students. To create in all students respect for, and tolerance of, all members of the wider community. To involve parents, community groups, and local businesses in developments and activities inside and outside school. E-Safety is taken seriously at Shaftesbury High School. We have assemblies about E-Safety to watch videos describing to our students the risks of having an online presence. This E-Safety page will be developed with relevant E-Safety content for our students and their parents & carers to use and refer to for help with E-Safety and understanding the risks of being online and how to manage those risks. At Shaftesbury High School we are committed to inclusion for opportunities for our students to experience additional inclusion activities with mainstream peers. We work closely with Whitmore High School, Bentley Wood High School, and Hatch End High School as well as mainstream colleges and local community environments. Students who take part in integration opportunities in mainstream schools usually begin this in Year 9 as they need a year to re-adjust from the secondary transfer. A decision regarding this will be made at an annual review when the students learning potential will be evaluated. View full school

- Welcome to Sexey’s, Bruton! Established in 1891, we are a Church of England, non-selective state boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 11-18, based in the beautiful Somerset countryside. We are ambitious for our student's academic achievement and provide an inclusive, friendly environment — producing confident young people that are prepared for life, both today and beyond school. We have a passion and determination to be exceptional in all that we do. At the center of the school’s ethos, you will find our Christian values. We have 7 Core values that form the basis of our ethos. These are the building blocks of our character and through these, we grow and develop as individuals and as a community: Courage Respect Kindness Forgiveness Empathy Honesty Resilience Parents often ask us what is so special about Sexey’s and what makes it different from other schools. We reply that we view every student as uniquely valued as an individual, but also part of a family. We are very much a family school, educating brothers and sisters from Year 7 through to Sixth Form. We believe that every young person has a personal talent that it is our responsibility to help discover, nurture and develop. Success for the future school days has a powerful influence on future success in life and we believe a Sexey’s education can give you the best start. Our students not only achieve excellent academic qualifications, but they also enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities and receive outstanding pastoral care. However successful you are in life, to be truly happy and fulfilled you need to have successful relationships with others. We provide our students with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and confidence to allow them to be truly successful on their journey of lifelong learning A website can only give you a brief glimpse of school life. You are warmly invited to visit and experience for yourself what we believe to be a very special school. We look forward to meeting you soon. Why choose Sexey’s School? Our aim at Sexey’s is to support our students in fulfilling their potential both academically and socially. We believe that this is achieved by setting high standards of teaching, learning, and care. We hope that this comes across through browsing this website, but you are always very welcome to arrange to visit us to see for yourself. A wide range of extra-curricular opportunities believe education is about more than grades: it is about an awareness of the world, about independent thought, about values. It is about the benefits of team sport, of culture, of academic ambition. It is about learning with enthusiasm. It is about growing up in a safe and caring community where all, staff and children alike, are passionate about what they do. That is what we aspire to and, I am confident, deliver. Christian ethosSexey’s is a Church of England school and our values are broadly based on the positive aspects of the Christian ethos. However a Sexey’s education is very much focused on the holistic development of the person and students are encouraged to seek their answers to questions concerning religion, life, self, and their place within the bigger picture. Sexy shares a school chaplain with two local schools, who is available to meet and discuss with students who wish to explore aspects of faith or spiritual issues. The school also has its purpose-built chapel, known as ‘The Sanctuary’ in the Rex Waller building, where students can spend time in quiet reflection or take part in services. We have close links with both the Diocese of Bath and Wells and St Mary’s Church in Bruton, with all boarders attending regular Sunday services there. Throughout the year St Mary’s runs confirmation classes and less formal Youth Alpha courses for those who want to find out more about Christianity. Rev. Justin Bailey from St Mary’s sits on the school’s governing body and takes an active role in the school’s chaplaincy team. Our vision Sexey’s, we work together with a determination to be exceptional in all that we do. Our values place students at the heart of everything. Each student is unique and special and joins us with their skills, qualities, and aspirations that it is our privilege and responsibility to grow, develop and nurture. - Our vision for Severne School is that we want our children to have roots – the academic foundation, self-confidence, and positive attitude on which success in school depends. We want our children to have wings – the thinking skills, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm, and broad view to soar beyond the commonplace. At Severne Primary School, British values are taught through our broad, balanced, and enriched curriculum. Frequent opportunities to apply these values ensure that children practice key learning behaviors that support the school’s vision to create valued members of our community. We are a strong team at Severne Primary School and the children are very proud of the staff team who work in partnership with parents/carers, governors, and the community to provide a challenging education of a high standard within a caring environment. We pride ourselves on knowing our children well and being able to provide for their individual, academic and emotional needs. We have an open-door policy for parents. Telephone calls and visits are always warmly received. In our school we are committed to developing: A thriving, happy ethos where every child is valued equally and cared for. A safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment that promotes support and respect. A broad, balanced, relevant, and enriched curriculum, that meets the needs of each child, delivered through high-quality teaching. Children with a positive sense of self-worth are confident, ambitious, respectful, and able to show an appreciation to themselves and others around them. A positive partnership with the wider community, where children are valued and will grow to become active citizens. An awareness of life skills so that children may make informed and healthy choices. Primary children learn largely through experiences. We have designed a broad and rich curriculum that values the knowledge-getting process as much as the knowledge itself. Running across our whole curriculum are the skills and qualities that enable children to become successful learners and be tomorrow’s lifelong learners. Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safely, through of provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advise how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and PSHE lessons. Whether it be through choice of challenge, of how they record, or participation in our numerous extra-curricular clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices. We have a strong anti-bullying culture where pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their behavior. Pupil self-esteem and self-confidence are paramount. Part of our school ethos and behavior policy has revolved around Core Values such as ‘Be Respectful’, and pupils have been part of discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown, this is reiterated through our classroom and learning rules, as well as our behavior policy. - Severn Primary School is an English medium, community co-educational school situated in the Canton area of Cardiff. At Severn, we place great value on the importance of good home/school links as we believe that it is through a close partnership that children learn and flourish. We offer a happy and caring environment where your child can learn within a beautiful Victorian building. The education we provide is carefully matched to the learning needs of individual children. We strive to develop the child’s self-esteem and sense of well-being so that they are ready, willing, and able to learn. As children progress through school they will be offered the opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular activities. The school aims:- To provide a happy, caring, secure and enriched learning environment for all children. To develop the "whole child" to his/her full potential irrespective of gender, age, or background. To encourage the children, their families, and the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school to have high expectations of what can be achieved. To draw upon the experiences relating to race, religion, and culture to develop in the children a sense of who they are and where they come from. To foster an appreciation of Wales and things Welsh through the implementation of Curriculum Cymreig. To provide and deliver a curriculum that is broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated. To value the importance of caring for the environment and acquiring a healthy lifestyle. To raise awareness of the school in the community by fostering links with parents, extended families, residents, and businesses. To engender good relationships, based on mutual respect amongst the children and staff: We view pupils, parents, governors, and the larger community as an integral part of our school team. We work together to achieve our mission statement-“Together we learn, together we grow.” We want parents to take an active role in their child's education and to feel welcome to come in and participate in the life of our school. Following an amalgamation in September 2008, extensive building work was carried out at the school and we now have fantastic resources and facilities including a computer suite, outdoor classrooms, art room, libraries, food technology room, large halls, and dining area. The staff gives freely of their own time to provide a wide range of out-of-hours activities that enhance the children’s academic, creative and physical development. View full school

- Sevenoaks is a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 11 to 18. Rated 'exceptional' for teaching and learning by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, we are proud of our innovative, thinking approach to education, our academic excellence, our strong pastoral and co-curricular foundation, and our pioneering service and social impact program which we started in the 1960s. Our superb 100-acre campus is in the Kent countryside, just half an hour from Central London and Gatwick International Airport. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme inspires an inclusive, enriching, and global dimension. With some 1180 pupils, including international students from over 45 countries around the world, the student body is lively, cosmopolitan, and open-minded. Boarding is an important element in the school's daily life and ethos, while our 600-year history, location, and day student body ensure that the school remains firmly grounded in the local community. Around one-third of the students are boarders, and two-thirds day pupils. The school admits boys and girls at 11, 13, and 16. Sevenoaks has a reputation for exploring new ideas and is known for a global outlook that permeates the entire education experience. We were the first HMC school to adopt the IB and to drop A-levels entirely. We have taught the IB since 1978, and our IB cohort is the largest and one of the most successful in England. In recent years we have developed our own externally moderated exams, Sevenoaks School Certificates, which are taken in Year 11. Founded in 1432, Sevenoaks School enjoys the distinction of being one of the UK’s longest established schools. A tradition of innovation and excellence has seen Sevenoaks develop into a co-educational day and boarding school, its constituency extending both locally and across the globe. The school offers a rigorous as well as a rounded education for pupils from the age of 11 to 18. The campus offers a safe, attractive, and, in parts, a spectacular environment in which to learn and grow. Sevenoaks has a worldwide reputation as a center of excellence and as a flagship for the International Baccalaureate. The school aims to continue its outstanding record of academic achievement, pastoral care, and co-curricular opportunity. Academic excellence is achieved by bright, motivated students, inspired by highly qualified and dedicated teachers in well-resourced classrooms. A professional team of specialist tutors, boarding house staff, and year heads ensure that our pupils are happy and receive expert care and support, while the mutual respect shared by students and staff helps to generate an atmosphere of tremendous friendliness. State-of-the-art facilities, together with high-level instruction, provide rich opportunities for pupils to participate in a wide variety of sports, the performing arts, and many other activities. Every pupil is encouraged to be curious, creative, critically aware, and to develop his or her passion and talent to the full. Life is fast-paced and dynamic, and expectations are high. At the same time, we cultivate in our pupils the habit of reflecting on their learning, and on the way, they behave and perform. While distinctively forward-looking, the school continues to value its alumni, who return for regular matches, social events, and anniversary dinners, and whose presence is strongly felt and recorded in the inclusive school publications. The school’s international outlook promotes the principles of tolerance and open-mindedness. Regular assemblies, tutor group meetings, and a program of talks help to foster the social and emotional welfare of our pupils, while a long tradition of service and local and international charity projects advances a core set of values across the student body. Ambitious but principled, confident, and compassionate, our pupils are prepared for leadership in an ever more complex world. All of our Sixth Form students pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma, a program the school has delivered for over 40 years. The Diploma represents, in the school’s view, the best preparation for university and work in a world of global competition. Students leave Sevenoaks to study a wide range of courses at top universities in the UK, the US, and elsewhere. They do so with an enlarged capacity for independent thought and intellectual risk-taking, a strong appetite for learning, and are equipped with the skills and personal qualities necessary for a happy and successful life.
