  1. At Springdale, we are proud of our reputation for high educational standards in a creative and caring environment. We are at the heart of the local community and have a strong sense of our individuality and history. Our outstanding school is growing to two form entry and we have lovely new facilities. There is a highly talented team of staff, governors, and families at the school who ensure that it is a very special place to be. The school vision is: Learn Create Grow Together and our ethos is characterized by our focus on learning, our creative spirit, our commitment to health and wellbeing, and the community we belong to. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) applies to children from birth to the end of their Reception year aged 5. At Springdale, children can join the EYFS at the age of three turning four in our nursery, and at four turning five in Reception. The Foundation Stage is exactly that the foundation for lifelong learning. It’s about learning how to learn, developing a love of learning, and having lots of fun while you’re about it. The EYFS is based on four core principles: A Unique Child: every child is individual and is born with the ability to learn. Positive Relationships: Children learn to be independent and confident when they have a base of secure, loving, and positive relationships with parents/carers, and/or key people. Enabling Environments: the environment is essential for supporting and extending children’s learning and development. Learning and Development: when the three principles above are recognized and in place, children are in a position to learn and develop successfully. Every child is different and learns in different ways and at different rates. All areas of learning and development are important and interconnected. At Springdale, we aim to provide a safe, secure and happy environment where children can thrive, feel good about being themselves and begin the process of becoming independent, confident, active learners. In partnership with our families, we aim to provide children with a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences that take account of their current knowledge, understanding, and ability and target their ‘next steps for progress. We are keen to develop children’s skills across all areas of the curriculum, from their number knowledge and fine motor dexterity to key skills such as listening, developing perseverance, and learning how to cooperate and compromise with other people. The prime areas are considered the most essential for healthy development and future learning. As children grow, a secure grounding in the prime areas will help them to tackle the learning and challenges and develop skills in the specific areas. All of these areas of learning are delivered through a mixture of whole-class teaching sessions, smaller adult-led group or 1:1 activities, and child-initiated play experiences. The curriculum is designed to be flexible and personalized, enabling staff to tailor learning experiences to the needs of each individual and to follow the children’s interests and fascinations. Staff is experienced in joining children in their play and using these experiences to question and develop their thinking, scaffold and extend their learning and develop their enjoyment of the process. For each area of learning, there is an ‘Early Learning Goal’ (ELG) that defines where children are expected to reach by the end of the EYFS. Throughout the year, records are kept of children’s experiences and achievements so that an accurate profile is developed of each child’s learning journey. At the end of the EYFS, teachers are required to assess the children against each ELG and judge whether they are at an Emerging, Expected, or Exceeding level. At Springdale, our children enjoy a hands-on approach to History, using a range of artifacts and other information sources to investigate the past. Our focus for historical inquiry spans from The Stone Age to The Normans in Years 3 and 4. In Years 5 and 6, it takes a more thematic approach to British and world history. We recognize the ability of real-life characters and dramas from the past to interest and motivate children of all ages. We use this opportunity to develop children’s skills in interpreting, evaluating, and presenting the information. Our children benefit from visits to historical sites and museums. We also invite a range of visitors to the school, who can further enrich our children’s learning through presentations, re-enactments, and first-hand reports about life in the past. At Springdale RE encourages children to learn about and learn from different religions, beliefs, values and traditions, and questions of meaning. We challenge our children to reflect on, consider and evaluate issues of truth, belief, faith, and ethics. Our lessons also offer children an opportunity for personal reflection as well as spiritual development, enhancing pupils' awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs as well as the influence of religion on individuals, families, communities, and cultures. It is taught as a discrete subject, as well as through whole school assemblies. We follow the Wandsworth SACRE Agreed Syllabus. View full school

We immerse our pupils in school life from day one of their journey here. Sherfield School is always a hive of activity. Our gifted and talented student body includes many musicians, artists, county players in tennis and rugby plus national and international cycling, judo, equestrian, and swimming stars. Alongside academic learning and sports, we tailor pastoral care to meet your child’s individual needs and aim to foster their unique talents and character, building confidence and respect. And with our Grade ll listed manor house set in many acres of beautiful grounds, woods, and gardens, plus a new, purpose-built playground, there are plenty of opportunities for all ages to get outside in the fresh country air. 5. Everyone involved in Sherborne’s community agrees: it is a special place, with an ethos all of its own. That is partly a result of our unique setting. It is as if history seeps from the golden stones of our buildings, giving our boys a profound sense that they are part of a living tradition. But there is more to our distinctiveness than this. We are committed to providing an all-boys, full-boarding, education that is shaped for the twenty-first century. In this way, we create the time and space to nurture our boys’ dispositions and prepare them for the future. But there is more to our distinctiveness than this. 13. The very best schools allow students to feel safe, enjoy learning and great enrichment opportunities, and ensure that all students can achieve their full potential. Shenley Academy does just that. Ask any student and they will tell you that they love coming to school, and are excited about the future which Shenley offers them. Our motto: ‘inspire, aspire, achieve’ underpins all that we do to support our students to gain confidence, grow and succeed throughout their time with us. Our success is built upon a foundation of strong relationships between all members of our community. We all share the same goal: the very best education for our students, to give them the brightest futures. With first-rate facilities and a huge 37-acre site, we enjoy both indoor and outdoor learning spaces complemented by the calm and orderly environment which our polite and well-mannered students create, we know that Shenley Academy is a truly inspiring place in which to grow and learn. At Shenley Academy students develop their self-confidence, are given the chance to shine, and understand that individual and collective endeavor is rewarded. All Shenley students know that hard work will lead to good examination results and that they will demonstrate resilience, kindness, integrity, respect, self-belief, and altruism in their daily and future lives. This dictum guides all we do. We have achieved a great deal since we opened as an academy. We know that hard work and very good examination results are essential, but life at Shenley Academy is also about having the chance to shine, make a contribution to our community, broaden horizons through offering experiences and opportunities outside the classroom, and cultivating the values of respect, resilience, altruism, kindness, integrity, and self-belief. We support this growth through our broad and balanced curriculum offer and our character education program known as Shenley Horizons. Through Shenley Horizons we develop students’ resilience, kindness, integrity, respect, self-belief, and altruism. Students learn and develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need for the future across a broad range of subjects. Lessons are designed to inspire and engage students, whilst at the same time ensuring that they are fully prepared to be successful in achieving the qualifications they need for the future. We have the highest aspirations for all our students and they are constantly challenged to achieve their best. Lessons are typified by students actively learning, through individual, paired, and group work tasks, but also through direct instruction and demonstration from teachers. As well as supporting students’ academic progress, the all-around experience at the academy develops the character and personal qualities needed for life. Lessons aim to instill a lifelong interest and appreciation of areas such as sport and the arts, whilst our Shenley Horizons character program supports the development of our six virtues Respect, resilience, self-belief, altruism, integrity, and kindness. Students who are identified as being more able are routinely provided with additional “stretch and challenge” during lessons and as part of our enrichment program. They are set aspirational targets and are supported in achieving excellence through differentiated teaching, activities, and resources. In year 10, a group of students is currently taking part in TalentEd, which combines qualified teachers and small groups, in after-school sessions, to raise aspiration and improve academic attainment. The Inclusion team works closely with all staff to ensure students with complex/ additional needs are well catered for. Staff is kept informed of all students’ needs and the best strategies to support students effectively. Some students with Literacy and/ or Numeracy needs are withdrawn from lessons and are supported through targeted intervention. These are small group sessions where students can access the additional support they may need. All students’ progress is carefully monitored to ensure every student reaches their full potential. 15. The school has changed significantly over the last few years with the addition of some excellent new facilities. We are now a three-form entry school and will grow to our maximum size in 2020. Sheen Mount School aims for excellence. We promote this through an enriched curriculum and by supporting all children to fulfill their potential. Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child. At Sheen Mount, we take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. The Headteacher, Ian Hutchings, is the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead. At Sheen Mount School, we have experience providing for the most frequently occurring special educational needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, social communication difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, learning difficulties, and behavior difficulties. There are other kinds of special educational needs, which do not occur as frequently and with which the school is less familiar, but we can access training and advice so that these kinds of needs can be met. The school currently meets the needs of 17 pupils with Education, Health and Care plans or a statement of SEN where extra ‘top up’ funding comes from the local authority. These include the following kinds of needs: autistic spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, social communication difficulties, sensory processing issues, and global delay. Also, there are genetic disorders with related educational needs including Downs Syndrome and Prader Willi Syndrome. Sheen Mount supports a further 18 children under SEN Support with the following needs: speech and language delays, dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder, global delay, specific learning difficulties, and social and emotional health difficulties. The school is the proud owner of a beautiful library, which the children use regularly to consult, read and borrow books. Thanks to the support of the Parent Staff Association the school is now able to provide an online version of its library catalog. The new system, called Junior Librarian, allows pupils, staff, and parents to view our school library catalog online and pupils are encouraged to use this to help with research, to write reviews about books they have read, and to search for new books and other library resources. Governors do not manage a school on a day-to-day basis but carry out an essential role in overseeing the development of the school. Governors may lend support in a variety of ways but all their responsibilities lead back to the core task of steering the school in its development. Three central pillars are supporting this endeavor. Being a critical friend underpins school governorship. We can be defined as a trusted person who asks provocative questions, provides information to be examined from another perspective, and offers critiques of a person’s work in a friendly way. A critical friend takes the time to fully understand the context of the work presented and the outcomes that the person or group is working toward. The friend is an advocate for the success of that work. Governing bodies are established by law as corporate bodies, responsibility for actions and decisions lies with the whole governing body and not with individual members. The Sheen Mount School Governing Body is divided into three committees, Resources, Standards, and Pastoral. Committees meet twice a term. The Full Governing Body also meets twice a term. The term of office for a governor is four years, which allows Governors sufficient time to see plans through from initial discussion to implementation. Of course, some Governors remain for much longer and this has often been the case at Sheen Mount. A substantial time commitment is involved but nearly all preparatory reading can be done at home. Meetings are held at the school in the evenings. Governors are encouraged to, and regularly do visit the school during the day. Sheen Mount School is set in spacious grounds with mature trees and open spaces creating a welcoming environment. Our well-equipped classrooms all have Interactive Whiteboard technology. We also have a well-resourced music room and ICT Suite. The whole school community works hard to provide the very best for all children – new ideas are always being explored to make the school an even better place to play, grow and learn. Children are extremely well supported during their time at Sheen Mount. All staff work to ensure that children thrive in a caring setting and learn to make healthy choices and gain important life skills. Our experienced support staff enhances the class teaching and plays a large part in pastoral care, particularly at playtimes. The support for children at playtime is further enhanced by our ‘Buddy’ system when older children assist younger children with games and activities. There are strong links with a varied range of external support agencies. Children have many opportunities to contribute their opinions about school life both informally within their class and formally through School Council. Our Learning Support Team has dedicated bases within the school. These well-resourced facilities are used to help children whose learning is developing at a different pace and who may require long or short-term individual or group support. Sheen Mount is a fully inclusive school with disabled access including a lift to the first floor. We can offer extended care for children through our on-site Breakfast Club and off-site after-school provision. View full school

Our Mission is to offer a rich and caring environment for all children irrespective of background. To engage all our Children with learning and building blocks for healthy development. At So He Cares, we Inspire, Engage and Excite our kids in a friendly and warm environment. We build on Academic, Social, and varying skills for Excellence. From our Learners, we expect the following: A smooth journey to increased Independence and Self-Confidence. A healthy attitude towards their studies and learning skills, which will improve their performance right across the school curriculum and make them more confident with their Work. The ability to learn how to learn so that they all realize not only their academic potential but also their critical thinking potential. The ability to think for themselves through a loving nature and find the answers they need through a channel that works best for them. The great potential to excel beyond their age level and the ability to have a positive attitude towards all activities. We offer Childcare for not more than two hours a day for children aged between 5 and 8. They engage the children in not more than one activity. We also give coaching, support, and opportunities for our students to overcome their academic challenges by themselves. Based on more than 30 years of research, the program we offer accelerates learning for students across a wide spectrum of ages and abilities — including those working at, above, or below grade level — by applying proven research on how the brain learns. By building cognitive skills in the areas of memory, attention, processing, and sequencing, learners can realize achievement gains of up to two years in as little as three months and maintain an accelerated rate of learning even after the program's end. The program combines advanced speech recognition technology with research-based reading instruction to help students strengthen their reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Research shows that learning to read with fluency and comprehension depends heavily on individually guided practice and support. Learners can preview vocabulary, listen to a modeled fluent reading of a passage, and read the passage orally. Through its speech recognition technology, It “listens” to each student as he or she reads aloud. It then provides guided oral reading support through real-time corrective feedback at the moment it is most effective, allowing the student to self-correct and learn from errors. Clickable glossary words with definitions build vocabulary, and “Think About It” questions and quizzes at the end of each selection help strengthen comprehension. The products and the science behind them have been the subject of numerous national news articles including features in Time and Newsweek magazines, and The Wall Street Journal. We currently provide a full range of support services for Schools, Nationally and Internationally. Effective school leadership is critical in improving educational outcomes. Our Leadership Programs work alongside School leaders and staff and also Parents to provide a wide range of bespoke guidance. We provide a variety of activities including homework activities, Maths, Spellings, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, Music, dramatic play, cooking, fitness and wellness activities, special interest areas, and special events. Activities are planned to meet the needs and interests of the children. View full school
