The National Curriculum at KSII consists of three Core Subjects, which are English, Mathematics, and Science. The remaining subjects are known as Foundation Subjects and are ICT, D.T, Welsh, History, Geography, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, and Art. The curriculum offered at Bryn Coch will lay great stress on the basic areas of education, whilst at the same time ensuring the delivery of a broad balanced curriculum, including Personal, Social, and Health Education, which is an important element in developing responsible attitudes in children while promoting a positive self-image. The school also offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities which are seen as an extension of the children’s day and play a significant part in the development of the school ethos. At Key Stage II (7 - 11) English, Mathematics, Welsh, and Science are mainly taught as separate subjects, but they are also integrated into the children’s topic work with all the other curriculum areas. Ysgol Bro Tegid Primary School is located near Lake Bro Tegid, Bala. The school has stood for over 100 years and has changed quite a lot over the years. The school began in 1905 under the name Bala Primary School, but it’s known to the residents of Bala as the 'Red School' as red is the color of brick. By the end of the century, Bro Tegid was the name on the door. On the school logo, it shows a unique species of fish, the ‘Gwyniad’ swimming in the lake and a boat sailing on Llyn Tegid. In the background is the Aran mountain which stands on the outskirts of Llanuwchllyn. 115 children currently wear a pale blue polo shirt, a navy sweater, and dark trousers to come to school. The school is divided into 5 classes with an average of 23children in each class. At lunchtime, we promote healthy eating every day. We often compete in various sports and support the Urdd annually by actively competing in the Eisteddfod. At our school, the pupils are allowed to participate in several activities from year to year. We have taken part in a variety of sports, eisteddfods, out-of-school activities and many interesting visits. We are pleased to have the opportunity to take part and we’d like to thank the coaches, organizers, parents, and Friends of the School for their great support. Ysgol Bro Siôn Cwilt is a County Primary School for 3-11-year-old children. It was established following the reorganization of primary education in the area. In January 2010 a brand-new, purpose-built school worth over £4 million opened its doors in Synod Inn to receive former pupils of Ysgol Gwenlli, Ysgol Llanllwchaearn, and Ysgol y Castell, Caerwedros as well as several other friends. Ysgol Bro Plenydd is situated by the main road in the village of Y Ffôr, approximately four miles north of the town of Pwllheli. The school was opened in 1912 as one of two ‘open-air schools’ established at the time by the old Caernarvonshire Council. Before it was opened, the children of the area were educated at the old Plasgwyn school on the outskirts of the village. In the year 2000, a new extension was added to the school which included an extra classroom, a toilet for the disabled, and an extensive reception area. In the same year, a hard-surfaced play area was secured for the children of the Foundation Phase. Behind the school, there is a large community playing field. Between 9.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., its use is restricted to the school. The Governing Body, together with the Parents’ Association collaborates with the school to ensure an environment that supports and enriches the learning experiences offered here and also listens and responds to the children’s wishes on how to improve the environment. Ysgol Bro Llifon is situated in the village of Groeslon, around five miles from Caernarfon. The school will open in September: there will be 6 classes with a recess for a library and a place for activities to be held outside the class. There is a kitchen, two group rooms (one for the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2), a hall of substantial size with changing rooms for the boys and girls, a car park, and a sports court. We aim to allow every pupil to develop to be confident and independent learners. Learners who celebrate their success and are aware of their strengths. This all in a homely and positive environment which is based on our values of friendliness, respect, fair play, and care. Ysgol Bro Lleu’s Parent-Teacher Association is formed of teachers, parents, and friends of the school who give up their free time to help raise funds for our children. All parents of children at the school are welcome to join the committee. Throughout the school year, we organize a variety of fundraising and social activities, which include the Summer Fair, the Christmas Fair, Activities, and Discos. These activities have a dual purpose: to raise funds and to bring parents, children, and staff together in a social atmosphere. Without your help and support, these events wouldn’t be possible. Every member of staff at Ysgol Bro Lleu must monitor and ensure the safeguarding of the pupils in our care. Each staff member has undertaken a Child Protection course, as well as a ‘Radicalisation’ Awareness course. The Headteacher, Deputy, and Safeguarding member of the Governors have undertaken an advanced Safeguarding course, with the Headteacher also completing an FGM awareness course. If you have any concerns regarding the welfare of a pupil, be it at the school or home you must inform the Safeguarding officer at the school – Mr. Gerallt Jones, Headteacher (In his absence Mr. Gareth Edwards, Deputy Headteacher). The main aim of the school is to allow all pupils to develop their full potential by nurturing attitudes and sharing experiences that will serve as a strong grounding for adult life. Ysgol Bro Gwydir is working towards the gold Healthy School awards and the Green Flag Eco-School accreditation. We actively promote global citizenship and are part of the European Comenius project. We encourage the pupils to follow a pattern of healthy eating and to be aware of health education in general from the start. Because of this, pupils are not allowed to bring sweets, chewing gum, soft drinks, chocolate biscuits, crisps, or cakes with them to school. We are sure that parents will agree that fruit is far healthier for children to eat at break time - if they need anything at all. Water fountains are available to encourage children to drink more water. All infant children receive milk daily. Recently Ysgol Bro Gwydir has been presented with the second leaf of the Conwy Healthy Schools scheme to show our success in reaching the standards of phase 2 of the project. Ysgol Bro Gwydir is working towards the gold Healthy School awards and the Green Flag Eco-School accreditation. We actively promote global citizenship and are part of the European Comenius project. The Eco-Schools program is an international initiative that encourages pupils to engage with environmental and sustainable development issues. It provides a highly structured system for the environmental management of schools. The program is a learning resource and topic areas include Litter, Waste Minimisation, Transport, Healthy Living, Energy, Water, School Grounds, and Global Citizenship. Ysgol Bro Gwydir's children take key roles in decision making and participation to reduce the environmental impact of the school. In this way, Eco-Schools extends the classroom and develops responsible citizenship attitudes at home and in the wider community.
