- At Woodhouse Grove, we appreciate that every child is an individual with their unique personality, talents, and skills and it is this individuality that we grow with nurture at all stages of their education, this approach is at the heart of the school's aims and ethos (seen below). A child’s potential could lie anywhere – so we ensure that every pupil is exposed to a huge array of opportunities and experiences. We then take pride in identifying and honing their strengths to make the most of their natural abilities, while working hard to develop areas that need improvement. This approach sees every Grovian grow into the very best version of themselves they can be. We believe that every child is an individual with their unique personality, talents, and skills and it’s this individuality that we encourage to grow at all stages of their education. A child’s potential could lie anywhere – so we ensure that every pupil is exposed to a huge array of opportunities and experiences. We then pride ourselves on identifying and honing their strengths to make the most of their natural abilities, while working hard to develop areas that need improvement. This approach sees every Grovian grow into the very best version of themselves they can be. We believe that the potential to achieve relies upon having the right introduction to school life. That’s why Brontë House offers children a place where every pupil’s individual needs will be identified and met. Where they will feel truly happy, make great new friends and, of course, develop a deep-seated love of learning that they will carry forward for the rest of their school life and beyond. When you nurture a child’s confidence, achievement follows. Because every child is unique, we know that the key to reaching their true potential lies in an education that is as full as it is diverse. Our approach of striving for academic achievement is perfectly complemented by a dedication to developing a wide variety of other interests, helping to build their aspirations, and instilling confidence for the future. We do this by offering every pupil life-changing opportunities and an environment in which academic excellence is promoted through learning and shared experiences. With excellent facilities for teaching and learning and committed and well-qualified teachers, our pupils are encouraged to fulfill and often exceed their potential. Woodhouse Grove is both academically ambitious and academically sensitive. Pupils are challenged to make the most of their abilities and take responsibility for their progress. Those in need of specific additional support are identified and provided for in a well-established learning support unit. Pupils are encouraged to think ahead, to prepare not merely for GCSE and A-Level, but also the challenges and opportunities beyond school. Careers guidance is embedded in an extensive program of personal and social education. Every individual child in this school counts we ask nothing more from them than that they dare to be, not ordinary, but extraordinary, and to strive to do their very best. To be confident and proud of their academic achievements and to believe that there is no glass ceiling to their academic attainment. View full school

- Woodhouse is a popular and oversubscribed sixth form college in Barnet. Our students are aged 16–18 years and come from over 180 different schools across North London. Based in North Finchley and drawing students from over 180 surrounding schools, Woodhouse College is one of the leading places to study A levels in London. Our consistently high performance in exam results backs this up. The government recognizes us as one of a small number of colleges with both Beacon Status and Ofsted Outstanding status. Our A*–B pass rates consistently place us in the top five sixth-form colleges nationally. Our students are able and hard-working. They have done well at GCSE and aim to do likewise at A level. Almost all go on to university. The college acts as a bridge from school to university, giving students a chance to grow in confidence and to develop independent learning skills. All our students study A levels. We offer a wide range of subjects, and students can study them in almost any combination. Our combination of expert teaching staff and an ambitious, supportive approach has proved very successful in achieving excellent academic results. We believe that sixth form college should be a stepping stone between school and university, a place where you can start to become an independent learner, and where you are supported to become the person you want to be. We provide a happy, trusting, and caring environment where you can challenge yourself and explore a whole range of opportunities. Woodhouse is as much about personal growth as it is about exam success. People ask if we are a specialist school, and we are. Our specialism is A level. That’s all we do. No little ones doing Key stage 3. Our teachers don’t rush from a difficult year 9 class for a bit of a breather with the year 13s. And we are not an FE college – no adults, no part-time students, or vocational courses. Just A levels, just enthusiastic students keen to do well and to progress to university. The fact that we specialize in A levels means that we have a big range of subjects – and perhaps the key thing is that they can be studied in almost any combination. When I was at school I was desperate to take maths and history at A level, my two favorite subjects. And I couldn’t. Because they were in the same block: I could only take maths or history. Last year, with around 650 new AS students, not one student had a clash, not one couldn’t do the combination they wanted. And the fact that we specialize in A levels means we have excellent study facilities – take a look today at our breath-taking library and two learning zones, and our labs and other accommodation, and our 3G pitch. And it also means that our staff are specialists too, experts in their subjects and A level pedagogy and assessment. And you might be surprised at our class sizes too, the average across the college is just over 20 with no class over 24. And it means that we specialize in advice and guidance in the university application process, that all our staff is involved, and that there is plenty of support and expertise – because 95% of our students go on to university, see us as a bridge to university - so we see it as part of the core of who we are. Our students are proud to be part of the College, and when they leave they are upset and tell us how much the college has meant to them. And they continue to be part of our community even after they have left, on Twitter, Facebook, and our alumni organization, many coming back to give talks and to mentor students. We are quite a large college, most of our new students say. But actually, overall we are only the size of a medium comprehensive school. Although we have a lot of buildings and spread out over a large site, we are smaller than many of the schools you go to. Smaller than Ashmole, East Barnet, Mill Hill County, Fortismere, APS, Highgate Wood, for example. And we have smaller class sizes than many sixth forms, especially in popular subjects. But, of course, the year groups are big – because everyone is in Year 12 or year 13. View full school

We believe in the inherent equality of all individuals, irrespective of physical or mental ability, gender or race, and reflect these both in the learning opportunities we offer the children and in the general manner in which all those who come into contact with our school are treated. The school is opposed to any form of racism and racist behavior. All children have the right to the best possible education. This means recognizing the varied cultural backgrounds of the children and positively reflecting them throughout the life of our school and our curriculum. Children are encouraged to establish positive relationships with adults and other children. They learn to work cooperatively as part of a group, to understand what is right and wrong and why and to consider the consequences of their actions. Adults working in early years aim to encourage all children, to make sure that each child is given an equal chance to join in with the range of activities on offer and that all children feel equally valued as part of the whole group. Children have had the opportunities to develop their speaking and listening, reading, and writing skills by sharing and enjoying many stories, rhymes, and non-fiction books. We have also focused on identifying sound using the ‘Letters and Sounds’ program. Children use a range of balancing and climbing apparatus to develop their coordination and awareness of space. They use a variety of sports equipment in class and team games. We also focus on using smaller tools, construction, and malleable materials to practice skills We try to make sure that all children are enjoying their learning at school. We constantly review the quality of our curriculum offer to ensure it is appealing and relevant to all groups. The result is a curriculum map which we hope has something for everyone. We do sometimes change the sequence of the topics. We share information about learning through our newsletters and Home Learning books. We think learning away from school is a very important part of learning. Visits stimulate thinking, develop knowledge and understanding and broaden children’s experiences. We aim for each topic to have a planned visit as well as drawing more spontaneously on the immediate local area. We make full use of the free travel offered to schools by Transport for London and plan visits to places with no entry charge as far as possible. We do, sometimes ask parents for a voluntary contribution towards the costs of educational visits. At Woodgrange we believe in the inherent equality of all individuals, irrespective of physical or mental ability, gender or race, and try to reflect these both in the learning opportunities we offer the children and in the general manner in which all those who come into contact with our school are treated. We wholeheartedly endorse the Local Authority’s Equal Opportunities policy. View full school

- Here at Woodgate, your child is at the center of everything that we do. We want your child to achieve all that they are capable of. Our school motto is ‘Happy, Hardworking, Successful.’ We believe that we can achieve this by forging a strong partnership between home and school, a partnership based on open and effective communication. Our website is a big part of this communication. Success in the education of your child depends, at least in some part, on your involvement. If your child sees that you are enthusiastic about their education, they are far more likely to view their schooling in a positive light and be more receptive to learning. The information that follows will begin to show you how we can work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for your child. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment. At Woodgate, our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. We provide a secure, exciting, and challenging learning environment. All who work, learn, and visit here are happy, hardworking, and successful. Our children are curious, articulate, confident, and independent achieving their full potential in all aspects of the curriculum. All children are well prepared for lifelong learning, given the best opportunities to succeed. The school community promotes, demonstrates, and upholds our school values and those of modern Britain. At Woodgate, we encourage respect for democracy and support participation in democratic processes. Democracy is the basis on which the law is made and applied in Britain. Through the democratic process, citizens can influence decision-making in Britain. Our School Council is one way in which the democratic process is modeled in school. Different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, but all people living in Britain are subject to its laws. It is sometimes called the ‘law of the land’ and everyone must live by it. It is the same with our school code and school rules. The rule of law protects people, ensures wellbeing, and keeps them safe. We define respect in the school’s core values. The school community agrees it is our most important value. School furthers tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling pupils to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures to understand that each individual is unique and to recognize and explore our differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. Tolerance is accepting yourself, even when you’ve made a mistake. Tolerance is accepting others, even when they’ve made mistakes too. Tolerance underpins our school code. View full school

- Our school is a one-form-entry school with an onsite Nursery, based in Waltham Forest and on the border of Redbridge. Surrounded by Epping Forest, the school retains a village school ethos, with a family atmosphere and character. It has a long history, with the reputation of being the oldest primary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. We have a special oak tree in the middle of our playground which is thought to be about 500 years old. Today, as in its earliest days, our school aims to enable every pupil to develop to their full potential, providing them with a quality education within a caring environment. We are proud of our pupils, school, and staff, supported by the Governing Board. But don’t take our word for it, please feel free to come and see for yourself. Our school is a place where everyone is valued and supported, where we all work hard to be the best that we can be, both as learners and as responsible citizens and members of society. Our School Values: Support each other and celebrate success Have respect and tolerance for ourselves and each other Be honest Be kind to others Have self-discipline Be responsible for yourself and your actions Are polite and considerate Work well in a team Work hard to do your best You must regularly talk to your children about how to keep safe when accessing the online world. Children must understand that internet use is underpinned by trust but at the same time, children should understand that there are consequences for misuse of this technology. All children at Woodford Green Primary have the opportunity to work with computers and digital equipment from age four to eleven. They are taught how to use ICT tools safely to find, explore, analyze and present information responsibly and creatively to advance their learning across the curriculum. While technology can help us communicate, do work, learn and have fun, it is also important to remember that technology can potentially be dangerous. We recognize the importance of educating children and young people in using these technologies safely. This is achieved by ensuring children within our school understand the benefits and risks of using this technology. We provide safeguards and awareness for users to enable them to control their online experiences. View full school

- Woodford Green Preparatory School Known locally as the "Red School" because of the scarlet uniforms, Woodford Green Preparatory School was founded in 1932 to provide a non-denominational Christian education for boys and girls, a tradition that has been maintained throughout our history and expansion to some 384 pupils. Regular assemblies, attended by all, reinforce the community spirit. Pupils are encouraged to take on responsibility. All the top year have community duties, including assisting younger children. While we are justifiably proud of our excellent record of success in entrance examinations for selective secondary schools, we believe that moral, social, and cultural education carry equal weight. Every child in the school is equally important to us, wherever their talents lie. The friendly, supportive environment, in which good work, good behavior, and helpfulness are positively reinforced, encourages all children to develop to their potential. We believe strongly that children ought to enjoy their time at school. We encourage pupils to strive to do their very best through a broad range of experiences. Pupils learn best when they are happy and feel secure. Our dedicated staff works hard to ensure that pupils are supported through excellent pastoral care. Our curriculum is broad and exciting, designed to stimulate a life-long love of learning. Pupils gain independence, resourcefulness and are provided with support and challenge. This is reflected in the recent ISI Inspection Report which highlights the many areas of excellence, which we continually strive to achieve. Our Vision To be known as a school where every pupil is nurtured, encouraged to be curious, and achieves their very best. We are committed to: Fostering the full development of each member of our school. Seeking excellence and inspiring a love for teaching and learning. Encouraging individual learning and thinking, value ourselves, and having a commitment to the care and wellbeing of others within our school. Maintaining and enhancing a safe and healthy environment that promotes a sense of belonging, pride, and achievement. The School's success rate with 11+ entries to a wide range of Senior Schools, both in the independent and state sectors, indicates that the curriculum meets all the requirements of these schools and enables pupils to make a smooth transition to secondary education. Our curriculum is subject to regular review and new ideas are continually discussed and encouraged. View full school

- What first strikes visitors to our school is a palpable sense of community. The atmosphere is vibrant, purposeful, and very friendly. Relationships are strong and supportive. There’s always a lot going on and, to an extent which is perhaps unusual, girls of different ages work unselfconsciously together, collaborating on the colorful range of events and activities that make up the fabric of the Woodford school year and contribute to the distinct ethos of the place. It’s a happy and cohesive community and an environment that liberates young women to take the risks and embrace the challenges that will prepare them for their future roles and responsibilities as leaders in tomorrow’s society. Woodford’s success is the result of striking a fine balance between tradition and innovation. Our values are traditional ones and we offer an unashamedly academic curriculum. We are keenly aware, however, that we are preparing our students for a working life none of us can yet anticipate. Our focus, therefore, is on developing the skills, attributes, and habits of mind that will equip them as life-long learners. Woodford leavers are articulate, self-confident, and skilled in the use of modern technologies. We aim to launch them into the world as self-starters, focused but flexible, armed with the courage to grasp opportunities and the resilience and humor to negotiate setbacks along the way. Above all we want them to be equipped to lead happy, fulfilling, and useful lives, wherever and however they choose to lead them. There is something for everyone. Our students will embark upon adult life conscious of their worth, ambitious for their futures, and aware that they are lucky indeed to have been educated here. There is something for everyone. We want our students to enjoy and appreciate their education and to leave Woodford equipped to embark upon happy, fulfilling, and useful lives, wherever and however they choose to lead them. Our Vision: Offering a full and balanced curriculum – and extra-curriculum – which encourages intellectual and personal development. Delivering expert teaching which builds on the previous attainment and makes learning an active, rather than a passive, experience. Developing the practices and resources to support independent learning. Creating opportunities for students to develop leadership and representation skills. Promoting opportunities for serving and supporting others. Providing platforms to showcase student skills and achievements. Scheduling co-curricular activities which encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Bringing the curriculum to life by emphasizing, wherever possible, a real-world connection. Making available individual advice and guidance to support students in planning for their futures. Encouraging a sense of global responsibility. Learning is the core function of a school, but it’s not, of course, an activity confined to schools, nor an individual’s years in formal education. It is, quite literally, a cradle-to-grave activity. A readiness to learn and to go on learning, and the skills to do so with increasing independence and enjoyment, are attributes that will set a school leaver up not only for Higher Education and employment but for life. We set a premium therefore on developing the skills, attributes, and habits of mind in our students that will equip them with the confidence and versatility to adapt to whatever challenges the future brings. The curriculum at Woodford is academic and, as you would expect of a Grammar School, designed to stimulate and challenge our very able students. View full school
