We are a rural, federated, twin site school and very lucky to be situated in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Clwydian Hills in Denbighshire. The LNF identifies annual literacy and numeracy expectations and will help children develop literacy and numeracy skills through all subjects in the national curriculum and by using a wide range of activities. All children are supported to develop sound literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are not just about learning English, Welsh and mathematics, they are about being able to use skills in different situations and across a wide range of activities. Literacy describes a set of skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, which allows us to make sense of the world around us. Numeracy is based on mathematical basics. Numeracy describes the set of skills needed to tackle real-world problems in a variety of situations by using numerical reasoning to plan how to solve the problem and then carrying out the mathematical procedures to find the solution. The Literacy and Numeracy Framework identifies annual literacy and numeracy expectations and will help children develop literacy and numeracy skills through all subjects in the national curriculum and by using a wide range of activities. Bro dyfrdwy is an area school. It’s a rural, welsh, county primary school. It is my great pleasure to introduce prospective parents and pupils to Ysgol Bro Dinefwr. Established in 2013 as a result of the reorganization of secondary education in eastern Carmarthenshire, we moved into our brand new building in 2016. The school is located in the village of Ffairfach near Llandeilo and occupies a magnificent site in the heart of the Tywi Valley. We are delighted with our new building, a contemporary and inspirational environment with first-class facilities for our present and future pupils. The design has facilitated the work of each department offering exciting and enriching activities for our pupils both inside and outside the classroom. We are a vibrant learning community, providing high-quality bilingual education for 11-18-year-olds from an extensive catchment area. A wide range of opportunities are available to all, and our pupils and students are encouraged to develop their interests and talents. High standards are very important to us, not just in terms of examination performance, but in everything that we do. We are very pleased with the school’s performance to date. In 2016, the Welsh Government’s school categorization process placed the school in Category ‘1A Green’. These are the best grades possible for standards (1), improvement capacity (A), and support (Green). This assessment of the school’s performance was affirmed in the positive report published by Estyn following a full inspection in February 2017. We are currently implementing Estyn’s recommendations and continue to work hard to provide the best possible quality education for our pupils. Coedmawr is an infants county Primary School that accepts pupils on a part-time basis in September following their third birthday and full-time in the September following their fourth birthday. Ysgol Glanadda is a Junior County Primary School. Pupils are admitted between 7 and 11 years, namely Years 3-6. Ysgol Bodfari is nestled at the foot of the Clwydian Range in the picturesque village of Bodfari, 3 miles from Denbigh and 5 miles from St Asaph. We are a small rural school and pride ourselves in having a caring, family-orientated outlook, firmly believing that children do not learn unless they feel happy and secure. Although primarily an English medium school, we are committed to promoting the language and culture of Wales and all our children learn Welsh as a second language. Children are often taught in small groups or individually and it is our aim that each child is given the utmost help and motivation to achieve their potential. We are a Voluntary Controlled Church in Wales Primary School, a rural school that was established in 1861. It is a day co-educational school for girls and boys aged 3 to 11, with 3 full-time and 1 part-time members of teaching staff working in three classrooms. At present, there are 48 full-time pupils and 6 Nursery children. The Village Hall and local sports field, which are situated next to the school, are used for Physical Education. The village is four miles from Abergele. The school adopts the Local Education Authority’s Admission Policy. Pupils are admitted into full-time education in September following their 4th birthday. A child can be admitted into the Nursery class in September following their 3rd birthday. Nursery pupils will receive part-time education and will attend school every morning from 9:00 – 11:00 pm. New Nursery intake is invited to spend an induction morning at the school during the end of the summer term before admission. Recognizing its historical foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character under the principles of the Church in Wales and partnership with the churches at the parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils. Bancyfelin School is in the village of Bancyfelin which is located halfway between the towns of Carmarthen and St. Clears. The school was built in 1872 and an extension was added in 2002 to accommodate a classroom for the Foundation Phase. The National Curriculum consists of subjects English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Welsh, Design, and Technology (DT), Physical Development (PE), Religious Education (RE), Music, Art, History, and Geography. At Key Stage 3, the following subjects are studied: English, Mathematics, and Science (the Core subjects). In addition, the following Foundation subjects are studied: History, Geography, RE, French, Welsh, Art, Music, Drama, Technology, ICT, Games, PSE, and PE.
