This is a non-supervisory position, responsible for mitigating supply risks and removing obstacles within the supply chain that may prohibit GM’s ability to manufacture product. This role will offer the candidate the opportunity to work closely with GM command center, plants, suppliers, tactical operations, purchasing, logistics, etc. In addition to core buyer work, including developing and aligning supplier strategy with commodity technology, negotiation, contract and execution, this candidate may take on crisis management activities. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) Responsibility of crisis strategy including: Develop and execute purchasing strategies based on business, market, and technology trends and establish strong and competitive supply base Responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, budget execution.
