About Me

  1. At Springfield School, we are committed to encouraging the highest standards in academic and extracurricular pursuits within a friendly and supportive community. We nurture the enjoyment of learning and provide opportunities for every child to fulfill their potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect and celebration of achievement. We seek to recognize, treasure, and develop the talents of every member of the school community as each has a unique value in God's sight. We recognize the position of parents as the prime educators of their children and aim to work in partnership with them and the PTA committee to develop an inclusive school community that will bring glory to God. Our ethos promotes the development of independent, confident, and responsible pupils, well prepared to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. To train the child to have faith in God the Almighty To encourage an appropriate academic challenge, which enables each pupil to realize his/her potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect and celebration of achievement. To recognize each member of the school community as unique, with talents to develop and a contribution to make. To promote excellence in all areas and to develop each pupil’s ability and character to the full. To promote a purposeful and disciplined atmosphere Within those aims, the school also tries to maintain a population of children from a variety of backgrounds. It will admit pupils, not solely on academic ability but with a range of qualities, abilities, and talents, who can make a real contribution to the success and welfare of the school in many different ways. Offer a broad and balanced range of academic and extracurricular activities which develop skills in inquiry, problem–solving, reasoning and cooperation. Maintain a calm, caring, and safe environment in which pupils are motivated through recognition of achievement value every pupil and foster self-esteem and self-knowledge in a context of high expectations. Ensure that all pupils have equal access to all areas of the school curriculum and all aspects of school life regardless of race, religion, and disability. Provide enjoyable and challenging learning opportunities that help every pupil to develop an independent, lively and enquiring mind.
  2. Springfield has been providing quality International Education since 1998. We have more than 2,000 students with four wonderful, well-resourced campuses with state-of-the-art facilities in Permata Buana (West Jakarta) and Raffles Hills (Cibubur). Providing education from Toddlers up to Grade 12 students, Springfield offers a Christian, caring, and positive learning environment where our students are empowered with the skills and knowledge to be successful leaders. Providing Christian education of the highest international quality, we empower students to become global leaders who are confident, compassionate, and prepared for service. Through its Christian education, Springfield School seeks to promote academic excellence, Encourage leadership, creativity, and service, Nurture inquiring minds and caring hearts, Equip students to become active, responsible, and global citizens. While our school has established itself as a place where academic excellence is pursued, we also desire to foster in students a global perspective and aim to develop in each child a good character and sense of fellowship. Springfield prides itself on being a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant learning community. Our students are not only prepared academically but they also grow in their cultural awareness and appreciation for others. Academic excellence is one of the highest priorities at Springfield School. We employ quality expatriate and local teachers to maintain exceptional academic standards. Each year many students achieve exceptional scores in their Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, IGCSE, and A-Level examinations. Springfield is committed to providing your children with both an excellent education and a supportive learning environment, in a caring and positive school community. We have found that modeling Christian values positively affects our students and community, creating a sense of security even in our fast-changing world of technological innovation. We strive to encourage students to treat each other with care, respect, and equity. Through our Primary Form teachers, Secondary Home Room teachers, counselors, and pastoral staff, Springfield provides a variety of support mechanisms for our students and parents (devotional times, character-building assemblies, and optional one-on-one counseling sessions).
  3. Springfield Primary School was originally built on Springfield Road in Belfast in 1910. The building is of traditional red-brick design comprising some architectural features typical of that “old Belfast”. It is of excellent condition and has been carefully preserved over the years. It has eight rooms one is used for each of the primaries 1-7 and the other one is used for the playgroup. The inside of the building is bright and attractive with many displays of the children’s work. “Pastoral care is concerned with promoting pupils’ personal and social development and fostering positive attitudes through the quality of teaching and learning through the nature of relationships amongst pupils, teachers and other adults in the school through arrangements for monitoring pupils’ overall progress, academic, personal and social through specific pastoral structures and support systems and extra-curricular activities and the school ethos. Pastoral care accordingly should help a school to achieve success.” At Springfield, we are trying to improve our carbon footprint by becoming more eco-friendly. We have set up an Eco-Committee to help us make our school more eco-friendly and in turn help the environment. The Eco Committee has drawn up an action plan that will help us to reduce our food waste and to recycle more in our classes. All members of staff have responsibilities for the general welfare of pupils. In addition, a formal pastoral structure exists to care for pupils in particular ways. The Management of the school will support class teachers in their efforts to achieve the aims of the pastoral care policy. They will assist the pastoral care coordinator to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the policy. The school has a 'Drugs Education Policy' as required by DENI. The school also has a Policy on the 'Use of Reasonable Force.'The program intends to give the children information that is relevant to their age and level of understanding and might help them to make rational and informed choices, recognizing that the influence of the school is extremely limited as compared to either society or peer pressure.
  4. It is something we show them. It's something we live. Since 1885, Springfield College has undergone name changes, renovations, construction, and other significant developments. One thing that has remained the same has been our focus on Humanics. You may be asking, "what is that?" We are always happy to share. Humanics is our unique philosophy that calls for students' education in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. That means that we focus on helping students grow the whole person to serve as leaders in their communities, organizations, companies, or wherever their next steps take them. The leadership of Springfield College is dedicated to creating a holistic learning environment that promotes student growth, academic excellence, engaged learning and high impact practices, and successful graduates that provide leadership in service to others. The mission of Springfield College is to educate the whole person in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. Humanics, the old Greek ideal of the balanced individual. As did the ancient Greeks, we believe that a person's emotional, intellectual, and physical lives are interconnected. The Humanics philosophy calls for the education of the whole person—in spirit, mind, and body—for leadership in service to others. And, we represent this ideology with a triangle. You may have seen a couple around campus. Sounds pretty deep, but it is not that complicated. Simply put, it's not all about books around here. It's also about bodies, attitudes, and emotions. So, while preparing for your life of helping others, your education at Springfield College will also provide you with an understanding of how the elements of Humanics work together. It is all about balance. And so far, the balancing act seems to be working. In more than 60 countries worldwide (at last count), Springfield College's more than 45,000 alumni provide leadership and make a difference—as coaches, corporate CEOs, social workers, authors, medical professionals, athletic trainers, software engineers—and that is just the beginning. We think the ancient Greeks would be proud. We offer graduate and undergraduate degrees as well as certificates of advanced study in a variety of areas. We also offer professional continuing studies at eight campuses across the country. We are here to help you, whether it's planning your education or starting a career after your time at Springfield College. Because our education and student experience are genuinely transformative, it is about interactive and engaged learning and programs and activities that make a difference in the world. It's about educating you in spirit, mind, and body. It's about an education grounded in leadership in service to others. It's about preparing you for a fulfilling life and career. We're excited to share with our new Harold C. Smith Learning Commons, the academic hub for Springfield College students. You will be able to study, meet for group work, work with reference librarians and Academic Advising Center staff members, and get your IT questions answered. Our Humanics philosophy means not only a well-rounded education but also a great experience outside the classroom, too. To balance out their studies, students spend free time leading service projects, supporting our athletics teams in the stands or on the field and taking advantage of the many clubs and organizations in our campus community. The Springfield College experience goes beyond academics. You will have opportunities to study abroad, gain employment, volunteer, or flex your leadership skills through engaging learning opportunities that will help you understand yourself and the world you live in. We all want to belong. So, we strive to maintain an inclusive community where everyone does. Explore what matters to you through our Office of Spiritual Life, our International Center, our Office of Multicultural Affairs, or our Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement. Through academic scholarship and a vibrant athletics culture, Springfield College students are well rounded, whole, balanced individuals who are at the top of their games, no matter their forum. And these exemplary students have selected Springfield College—in most cases as their first choice—because we are committed to graduating students who will change the world. Springfield College is consistently ranked among the best universities and as an institution that leads to graduate school for many of its students. Springfield College offers 47 undergraduate majors in a wide range of human-helping professions. Our majors blend traditional coursework with experiential learning such as internships, fieldwork, student teaching, and practicums. The blend of classroom and real-world experience provides our students with skills, knowledge, insight, and networks to achieve their career goals upon graduation. Springfield College has a vibrant campus life, and students are provided with ample opportunity to explore their professional and personal interests. Our traditional New England campus, situated on Lake Massasoit's shores, is like an oasis in a city. In addition to academics, there are recreational facilities and special interest clubs and organizations, all within an hour and a half drive to Boston, Albany, or Providence.
  5. The University of Illinois at Springfield provides an intellectually rich, collaborative, and intimate learning environment for students, faculty, and staff while serving local, regional, state, national, and international communities. UIS serves its students by building a faculty whose members have a passion for teaching and create an environment that nurtures learning. Our faculty members engage students in small classes and experiential learning settings. At UIS, the undergraduate and graduate curricula and the professional programs emphasize liberal arts, interdisciplinary approaches, lifelong learning, and engaged citizenship. UIS provides its students with the knowledge, skills, and experience that lead to productive careers in the private and public sectors. UIS serves the pursuit of knowledge by encouraging and valuing excellence in scholarship. Scholarship at UIS is broadly defined. Faculty members are engaged in the scholarship of discovery, integration, application, and teaching. Excellence in teaching and meaningful service depends on a foundation of excellence in scholarship. One vital area in which UIS extends its scholarship, teaching, learning, and expertise beyond the campus is in the broad area of public affairs. From its location in the state capital, UIS shapes and informs public policy, trains tomorrow's leaders, and enriches its learning environment through a wide range of public affairs activities, programs, and organizations. UIS empowers its students, faculty, and staff by being a leader in online education and classroom technology. UIS uses technology to enhance its unique learning environment and extend that environment beyond the campus's boundaries. Online learning at Illinois Springfield offers flexibility and convenience with the same high quality as our on-campus coursework. The Counseling Center provides counseling, outreach, and psychological consultation to UIS students. Counseling services are free of charge to UIS students that have paid the Health and Counseling Fee. UIS embraces diversity as part of our success and excellence. We are committed to having a campus that celebrates diversity, and recruits diverse talent, making every student feel included and welcome. We have many services and academic accommodations offered for students who are registered with us. We value every student and are committed to working together with the University community. The Office of Disability Services is here to ensure students with disabilities receive the academic accommodations needed for their classroom success. We collaborate with the faculty to facilitate the implementation of these academic accommodations. The reasonable accommodations recommended for each student is based upon an interview with the student and the documentation provided to us about their disability. We believe that every individual is capable of learning, and we respect the many different learning styles of our students. We encourage independence and help facilitate a sense of self-worth in our students. Our campus values diversity in that 20% of the students on our campus are from other countries. All students are admitted into the University of Illinois Springfield with the same admission standards. The University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign has a rich history of accommodating individuals with disabilities before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Springfield campus is respectful of this history and is happy to be a part of the University of Illinois. A university is a place where people from different cultures and experiences learn together. We include and value all of the members of our campus community. The Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost oversees academic and budgetary policy and priorities, ensures the faculty and student body's quality, and maintains educational excellence. The VCAA/Provost reports to the Chancellor and serves as the university's chief academic and budget officer. She/he provides leadership for mission-driven academic and co-curricular endeavors and functions, coordinates academic affairs initiatives and programs with other university divisions, directs activities surrounding the implementation and achievement of the academic mission, and coordinates university budget and planning activities. In 1960, a group of central Illinois citizens, united in bringing a four-year university to the capital city, formed the Springfield Committee for Higher Education. Legislation creating Sangamon State University (SSU) was signed in 1969. The first classes were held in 1970, which is considered the founding year of SSU.
  6. Our school is on a very exciting journey. We enjoy an extremely important partnership with Moor Green Academy, which is part of REACH 2 Multi-Academy Trust. Nicola Fisher, Executive Headteacher from Moor Green Academy, with the assistance of outstanding staff expertise at Moor Green and from across the Trust, is providing our school with specialist leadership and teaching support. The future for Springfield Primary School and our children is incredibly bright. We intend to provide our children with an education that will lay the foundations for successful learning and development throughout their school career and in later life. Within an environment that values people, hard work, resilience, humility, and respect, we intend our students to leave us fully prepared for their next adventure. To achieve this, we expect the very highest of standards in everything we do. It is my expectation therefore, that staff and students are the very best that they can be, every single day. We aim to deliver a curriculum that is broad, balanced, and based on developing all pupils’ knowledge, skills, and understanding across a range of subjects. We are an inclusive school and may offer the following provisions to support children with SEND, over and above High-Quality Teaching for all. We are committed to ensuring equality of educational opportunity and support for all pupils, parents, carers, and staff irrespective of sex, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender reassignment, and socio-economic background. Curriculum Objectives: To provide opportunities and activities for children to communicate through speech and writing, and to listen with understanding. To provide stimulating reading material that enables children to read accurately, fluently, and with understanding for their enjoyment. English is applied in all subject areas and enables children to articulate their understanding and learn with enthusiasm and independence. To assist in children’s understanding and knowledge of the mathematical language and the processes that they apply in a variety of tasks. To provide opportunities for children to explain the pattern and relationships that form the basis of mathematics. To develop mathematical skills and apply them to practical solutions through problem solving and investigations. Mathematics is applied to other subject areas and enables children to develop enjoyment, interest, and a positive attitude towards mathematical understanding. To encourage the development of scientific understanding through activities and discussion that provide systematic inquiry within a range of experiments and investigations of everyday life. The opportunities we give for question raising in science enable children to use and understand scientific concepts and vocabulary. We give children opportunities to experience their environment and the wider world both past and present through humanities (Geography, History, RE). We encourage flexibility and creative thinking in overcoming difficulties and developing new approaches through investigation. Children` should approach tasks and activities with enjoyment, independence, and interest in practical solutions to learning situations, with the independence of thought and action as well as co-operating within a group. Literacy, Numeracy, and Information Technology are skills that run through the whole of the curriculum. Also, a considerable part of each week is given to teaching Mathematics and English as individual subjects and aspects of these are planned in a continuous sequence of lessons or activities. All other subjects are organized within the Cornerstones Curriculum, which is linked to specific topic areas, one topic per half term. Personal and Social Education is taught in specific sessions and through R.E. At Springfield Primary School we aim to be an ambitious, successful, innovative, and dynamic school where positive change and advancement are welcomed, valued, and sought after. We are a school that is built upon sound educational values, with an ethos that allows and expects every single member of the school community to thrive and achieve excellence, whilst enjoying their learning and personal development. The education that we provide our children will cater to their academic, moral, physical, and spiritual development, which in our opinion are instrumental in supporting and nurturing a child’s whole education. With these aspects forever at the heart of their curriculum and experiences, our young people will gain the knowledge, skills, resilience, aspirations, and moral purpose to make a significant and valued contribution to our immediate and wider global society. It is our job to help the young people in our charge overcome any barriers they may encounter so that they are inspired to continue on a lifelong journey of learning, seeking out, and embracing new experiences and challenges. Our pupils will leave us fully prepared for the future challenges they will face, having successfully learned to work with and care for each other, whilst constantly striving to be the very best that they can be in everything they do.’

  15. Our school is an inclusive school where we focus on the well-being and progress of every child and where all members of our community are of equal worth. Parents, carers, and the community are key partners and we are committed to working together to promote educational achievement, raise children’s self-esteem and engender a sense of pride in our school and community. Here at Springfield, we believe that children learn best when they are stimulated by an exciting and challenging curriculum that motivates them to learn. We actively encourage children to be inquisitive about the world around them and we celebrate every child’s success. We are determined to give our children every opportunity to make the most of their abilities through a combination of excellent teaching, an inspirational learning environment, and a rich, creative curriculum. Many of our children join Springfield in the Nursery, aged three. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school but children meeting the Local Authority’s entry requirements will move on to Reception where they will be joined by children new to the school. Admissions to Nursery are provided by the school and there is no need to contact the Local Authority. We are very proud of all the children in our school. We are particularly proud of the enthusiasm with which our children approach and embrace their learning, the progress they make, and the way they develop into conscientious and responsible individuals with a high level of self-esteem and a love of learning. We use a cooperative approach to support children from our rich and diverse community to achieve educational and personal success. We aim to prepare our children for the world by ‘bringing the world into our classrooms and taking our classrooms ‘out into the world.’ We come from a wide range of different ethnic backgrounds. There are many different languages spoken in our homes. And we all have our different personalities, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. But we all have one big thing in common and that is our school. Springfield is a Rights Respecting School and we use our Pupil Voice in many ways. For example, we have an Eco Council, a School Council, and an E-Safety group. We have a beautiful Forest School and a woodland adventure playground where we love to play and learn outdoors. Children at Springfield love sports and we have all sorts of different clubs and matches to keep us active and busy before and after school. Our curriculum is designed to inspire and motivate pupils while providing for their academic, moral, physical, creative, personal, and social development. Children learn through a careful balance of specific teaching programs and a topic-based approach. From the Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 2 we recognize the importance of making links across the curriculum. Lessons are designed to ensure pupils acquire knowledge and skills and have opportunities to practice and apply their skills in a range of contexts. We encourage co-operative work, talk, discussion and above all, enjoyment as vehicles for learning in all subjects. We are a group of schools working together because we believe our schools can gain many benefits from working collaboratively. We have committed to a shared responsibility to the wider school community, the provision of good quality education, and the improvement of life chances for pupils in the community beyond that of our schools. Teachers, support staff, school leaders, and governors have added expertise in working alongside colleagues to improve provision and outcomes for our pupils. The Primary Advantage Federation has a formal governing board with representatives from all eight schools. Each school has a Local Advisory Board that meets at least four times a year and supports the Headteacher and Executive Principal in making strategic decisions that will improve outcomes for pupils. Each Local Advisory board reports to the Central Governing Board once a term. Our Local Advisory Board includes representatives from our parents, staff, and community. The Local Advisory Board meets regularly to support and challenge the school to continue to provide children with a high-quality education. They look at outcomes for all pupils at St Matthias and look at how well our children are doing compared to children nationally. They also receive finance reports, health and safety reports, curriculum reports and help the school to make decisions that will benefit our school community. We know that the most successful education takes place when parents, carers, staff, and governors all work together. Parents and carers can be involved with the whole school community in a variety of ways from attending fundraising events to supporting with homework. The school communicates in a variety of ways including newsletters, a texting service, Twitter, school website, Marvellous, letters, meetings, telephone calls, posters, and flyers. Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Springfield. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable materials. Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the online safety message is consistent. Parents must speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

  21. 23. Our pupils will leave us fully prepared for the future challenges they will face, having successfully learned to work with and care for each other, whilst constantly striving to be the very best that they can be in everything they do.’ View full school

View full school
