At Springfield Commonwealth Academy, students gain knowledge continuously through the cultivation of real-world skills. Our school program was designed for students who are driven and want to succeed. We guide our students along the path of self-directed learning so that they can follow it to college and beyond. When dedicated students work with passionate and attentive staff, real intellectual growth flourishes, a student who develops a real love for learning in a community of like-minded thinkers will remain a lifelong learner.
Springfield Commonwealth Academy (SCA) is a co-ed college preparatory school for grades 6 to 12, offering a strong academic curriculum and counseling resources to ensure students excel at learning and successfully transition into colleges and universities which match each student's unique needs.
Located in Springfield, the 3rd largest city in Massachusetts, SCA's campus first served as a boarding school for young women in 1890. Our campus covers 19.7 acres, which includes the main school building, indoor athletic center, dining hall, library, and separate dormitories for boys and girls. Our school sits on top of Ames Hill and is surrounded by historic mansions that are now home to both students and teachers.
We are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and is SEVP-certified to accept international students.
Diversity is essential at SCA. Our students come from the city of Springfield and other parts of Massachusetts. There are also students hailing from France, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Senegal, the Dominican Republic, and Mainland China.
We are also a member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), the National Honor Society (NHS), and the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). We offer a full range of clubs, sports, and activities in addition to AP and Honors courses.
Did you know that we are also an official SAT center designated by the College Board? Our students can take the SAT comfortably without ever leaving campus, although we highly encourage visiting colleges of interest! Within a 100 mile radius of our school, there are over 100 colleges and universities such as Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Williams College.
The Springfield Commonwealth Academy community is full of talented, intelligent, and highly-driven individuals. We are continuously growing as more of the world's brightest students and teachers decide to become part of our school family. We hope you will be next to join us!
