  1. PNCA is the only art and design college located in one of the most progressive cities in the United States. For all of its one-hundred-plus years, PNCA has nurtured the talent in its students for radically reimagining everything, transforming the lives of our students and everyone they touch. Our studios and galleries continue to give rise to a vibrant community of innovators and culture-makers who shape the cultural landscape. At Portland's creative heart, PNCA is a center for communities of artists, designers, and scholars, presenting more free public programs and exhibitions in a given year than any other art institution in the city. Our mission is, "We prepare students for a life of creative practice. " The artists of the Museum Art School, later Pacific Northwest College of Art, have shaped the region's visual arts landscape for more than one hundred years. They have become the teachers, professional artists, gallery owners, and art museum curators who have filled the galleries and molded young artists while making Portland the visual arts mecca that it is. We empower students to reimagine what art and design can do in the world. As artists and designers, radically reimagining everything is at the heart of what we do every day in the studio when we are at our best. We challenge our students to think big and extend their creative problem-solving superpowers well beyond the traditional horizons of art and design. Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) empowers artists and designers to reimagine what art and design can do globally. This private fine arts and design college, founded in 1909 in Portland, Oregon, offers eleven Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degrees, seven graduate degrees including Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Master of Arts (MA) degrees, a Post-Baccalaureate, and a range of Community Education programs for adults and youth. Diversity and inclusion at PNCA are crucial to our intellectual and aesthetic inquiry. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment enriched by various voices, work, and perspectives. We know that we are a better community of learners and educators when we have space for a multiplicity of worldviews and experiences. Thus diversity and inclusion at PNCA are crucial to our intellectual and aesthetic inquiry. Guided by the principles of ethics and mutual respect, PNCA's policies and procedures strive to ensure equity and social justice within our community of students, educators, and staff. Discrimination, harassment, and assault for any reason are unacceptable behavior in the PNCA community. A platform for experimentation and expression in the arts, PNCA is also a laboratory for critical reflection and dialog that nurtures better, more informed, more critically engaged citizens. At the same time, it educates emerging artists and designers. An essential aspect of our curriculum is building an awareness of and critical culture around power and privilege issues to decolonize our curriculum. PNCA's Diversity Task Force is made up of students, faculty, staff, and board members. The work of the Task Force to further diversity and inclusion at PNCA is ongoing. We play as hard as we work with beach field trips, all-school breakfasts and parties, spontaneous ping pong games, monthly First Thursday art receptions, and daily afternoon tea in the print studio. Students organize exhibitions, performances, and pop-up shops. A student once said that what she loved about PNCA is that it is "dripping with art." Student art is installed in galleries, critique spaces, classrooms, offices, hallways, stairwells, and elevators. And our Center for Contemporary Art & Culture presents exhibitions by internationally-recognized contemporary artists including Cauleen Smith, Bruce Naumann, James Rosenquist, Wangechi Mutu, and many more. We host exhibitions and events as part of the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art's Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival. And we host events for Design Week Portland and AIGA. As a learning community, we value, respect, and appreciate the difference—in gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, class, and age. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment enriched by various voices, work, and perspectives. We know that we are a better community of learners and educators when we have space for a multiplicity of worldviews and experiences. Our Equity Council, open to all, meets regularly throughout the school year. Student Life organizes events, field trips, and workshops. And students run a range of clubs, from Electronic Music Club and Wildnerness Adventure to Blacksmithing Club. We host more than 700 free public events each year, bringing necessary lecturers, panels, projects, and exhibitions to campus. PNCA's Center for Contemporary Art & Culture presents exhibitions by internationally recognized artists on campus year-round. Hood within day-trip distance.PNCA is located downtown in a home to most of the city's art galleries and a concentration of design studios. 4. A proud name and a proud tradition. Northwest Florida State College is honored to use the name Raiders and pay tribute to the past heroes who have shaped our future today. In the college’s first year of operation, in 1964, then Okaloosa-Walton Junior College set about to choose a school mascot. It was decided that the college use the name “Raiders” in honor of the heroic airmen who trained at Eglin Air Force Base for their famous World War II raid on Tokyo. In dedication to keeping the legacy of the Doolittle Raiders alive, NWF State College is honored to feature various Raider memorabilia throughout the campus, including a mini-museum at the entrance of Raider Arena, a painting bearing the signatures of surviving crewman from each of the 16 participating aircraft, including Jimmy Doolittle himself, and an autographed edition of Doolittle’s autobiography. 5. NCU is a University that fosters wisdom, faith, and service through excellent academic programs within a Christ-centered community. NCU aspires to be a University characterized by its commitment to equip students to discover and answer God's call in their lives. NCU achieves this vision through academic excellence and faithful stewardship in a Christ-centered community that develops purposeful graduates. All full-time faculty members are expected to demonstrate "a maturing Christian faith." The overwhelming majority of part-time faculty and NCU staff are Christians as well. Whenever we conduct a job search to fill a position, we ask candidates to submit a 'statement of faith' in which they describe their own Christian experience and how they relate that experience to their work. We welcome students who have no faith commitment or are from other faith commitments. NCU is not a 'church,' nor do we require students to be Christians or subscribe to any faith statement. At the same time, all students should be prepared to be exposed daily to a Christian worldview and be encouraged to a Christian faith commitment. As a community, we are committed to living out our middle name. Weekly chapel attendance (the chapel is held two to three times per week) is required of all traditional undergraduate students enrolled for 12 or more credits per semester. Though not a requirement for graduation, chapel attendance is monitored and included on official transcripts with a grade of 'pass' or 'no pass' for each semester of full-time enrollment. Your faith will be challenged while attending NCU. Our Christian community's goal is to help each other all grow in our knowledge, love, and obedience to Jesus Christ. The Office of Academic Advising provides individualized academic advising services for all students at NCU. Whether a graduate or undergraduate, each student is assigned an academic advisor who serves as the student's primary contact for any academic life questions at NCU. As advisors, we seek to build relationships with our students to understand and relate to the whole person. We recognize that many factors impact both your academic decisions and performance. We strive to look at the big picture while advising students. Our goal is to provide support and mentorship in a proactive, supportive way. We encourage students to regularly check in with their academic advisors and connect with faculty and other resources on campus. While your academic advisor is a vital resource, we encourage students to take ownership of their academic progress and remember that it is ultimately the student's responsibility to meet degree requirements. Our Career Development goal is to empower and equip individuals to embrace their vocational calling and engage in opportunities to make meaningful career and life contributions. We strive to provide quality services and resources for students, faculty & staff, alumni, employers, and community partners. We hope to facilitate a greater understanding of how God created each individual and help them discern the call placed upon their life! Whether they are entering the world of work for the first time or changing careers, we seek to prepare students with the knowledge and skills to do so with confidence. We are committed to guiding students through establishing professional and lifework goals and taking steps to achieve them. Many NCU students receive some form of financial aid. It is what makes NCU such a great school. It is also what makes a degree here so affordable. You can afford to attend NCU, and we can show you how. Academic Services at Northwest Christian University exists to aid current students in becoming successful graduates. Academic Services includes academic advising, primary selection and declaration, career and life planning and development, and academic success support. Academic advising at NCU leads students to healthy development — academic, personal, & spiritual — by encouraging accountability, connecting students to helpful NCU resources, and providing individual guidance during difficult academic times. Our focus is on helping students navigate their time in college to maximize their learning and experience to better prepare them for success after graduation. Studying abroad is about much more than just having a great travel experience – it can produce significant returns on your investment in your academic, personal, & professional life. Students are also able to study abroad during the Fall or Spring semester. Meet with the Off-Campus Study Program Coordinator for more information and to pick a location and program. IT engages the students, faculty, and staff of Northwest Christian University by building and providing secure and reliable systems managing technological change and risk and fostering innovation and technical competence. With over 250 online courses offered per year, NNU's Center for Professional Development has the most convenient, affordable professional development in the state of Idaho. CASA, the Center for Academic Success & Advising, is the epicenter for supporting students in pursuit of their academic goals. CASA support begins when prospective students in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) consider their first-semester schedule at NNU. CASA works closely with the CAS Admission's Team and the Registrar's Office to create schedules for all incoming students enrolling in CAS. From the first day of classes through commencement, CASA offers a full array of academic services, including tutoring, academic coaching, disability support for academics, academic advising for select majors, and "deciding" students and test proctoring services. Academic progress is monitored each semester, and the CASA faculty/staff also offers additional assistance for students on academic probation seeking to improve. Disability Support Services (DSS) for all students at the University are available through CASA. DSS exists to ensure access to the University and its programs by students with disabilities. The office coordinates and provides reasonable accommodations, advocates for an accessible and hospitable learning environment, and promotes self-determination on the individuals served. Finally, CASA supports NNU's educational mission by providing high-quality testing services by the National College Testing Association Professional Standards and Guidelines and governmental regulations. The services provided for students, faculty, staff, community members, and business partners will be consistently rendered with an attitude of service that demonstrates value for relationships, personal excellence, diversity, and commitment to lifelong learning. To say that you'll have a great time at NNU would be an understatement. The Office of Student Life is here to make sure of that. We take care of every aspect of your student experience, from where you live to what you do on Thursday nights (Brick House, baby). Here's just a sample of what's in store. Through Spiritual Life, you'll find new ways to grow in your faith. Our community is rooted in love for one another and God, but it is not a Christian hideout from the world. Students and faculty alike challenge one another to examine, articulate, and own their faith. Attending Timeout (a weekly student-led service), serving locally, and joining an ABIDE group are just a few of the ways you can grow. Staple campus traditions would not be possible without the Student Government Association (SGA) and other student leaders. SGA will give you opportunities to get involved, both on-campus and in the community. We've got the standard clubs and organizations (more than 40), but we also have some unique traditions and campus characters you might not find elsewhere. Strut your stuff at our talent show, Fresheree (talent not required), or give back to the community during giving Week. You'll find enough options to keep you involved and entertained for all four years. Sixteen percent of students on campus this year come from a culturally diverse background. The Office of Multicultural Affairs works to increase awareness, cooperation, and understanding concerning ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity on campus and in the local community.
  7. Northwest University is a regionally accredited, Christian institution awarding associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. 9. Real-life is layered and complex, with intersecting experiences marking every day. We believe learning should be that way, too. Integrated, multi-dimensional, and sometimes a little messy. That is the idea. At The Northwest School, students experience the exhilarating chemistry between academic disciplines and the arts. They learn to see the interdependence of all aspects of life in the real world. A bigger picture comes into focus. The school day becomes less about isolated subjects—and more about dynamic, interwoven concepts and ideas. If you are fortunate enough to attend a Northwest School home basketball game this winter, you might do a double-take when our mascot—The House—takes the floor. But The House, modeled after our iconic main building, is not an accident. Instead, it is a symbolic reminder that this beautiful old edifice is the intellectual home of an idealistic community of scholars who embrace learning, both for its own sake—and for its promise to change the world for the better. And the moment you walk in our massive but welcoming front doors, you will find the joy in learning here is palpable. You will also discover that Northwest is a demanding place. It has to be. The world is shrinking, its challenges increasingly complicated. The pace of change is unprecedented. Here, we believe the kind of education that will prepare our kids to thrive in such a world must reflect these complexities. So we embrace paradox. Because the world is never merely one thing or the other, life in the House is intimate and intense supportive, and challenging improvisational and exacting intellectual and playful academic and creative. We celebrate the power of both individual and community. Here, among a genuinely diverse group of peers worldwide, students are encouraged—and feel safe—to wrestle with new ideas, express bold opinions, and take on novel challenges. Our interdisciplinary approach and unique interplay of academic and creative experiences are intentional. We believe this is how real learning happens—the kind that develops thinkers, activists, and innovators. These values are foundational to The Northwest School and guide our behavior: The quality of the faculty determines excellence in education. The Humanities, Sciences, and Performing and Fine Arts are the appropriate secondary education areas. Ethnic, racial, religious, gender, and economic diversity are essential for the highest secondary education quality. The development of a sense of responsibility for the immediate environment and concern for the broader community is fundamental to responsible citizens' education. All interactions in the School community can and should be directed toward the development of courtesy, common sense, mutual support, the creative spirit, and independence. We believe a successful life is an engaged life—and the key to staying engaged is staying curious. Our faculty inspires students to continually ask questions, to remain open-minded about outcomes, and to see connections in the world at large. In turn, students are prepared not just for college but to live with meaning and joy—wherever life takes them. The Northwest School offers a faculty who engage each student in a sequential, cross-disciplinary study in the Humanities, Sciences, and the Arts. We are a diverse community of people who challenge each other to learn in a healthy, creative, and collaborative atmosphere of respect for ourselves, others, and the environment. We graduate students with a historical, scientific, artistic, and global perspective, enabling them to think and act with integrity, believing they positively impact the world. At The Northwest School, students and faculty come from multiple regions and backgrounds. We speak different languages and follow different cultural paths. And through these differences, we learn and grow. Since its founding in 1980, we have embraced diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to a robust and quality education. The Northwest School cultivates an inclusive, authentic, and positive experience for its students, faculty, and extended family. In doing so, we provide a home for academic, social, and personal growth and model our values for the broader community. We believe that the education of responsible citizens happens best when a diverse group of students studies various perspectives in an atmosphere of respect. At the Northwest School, students learn the critical life skill of stepping forward and participating in personal and meaningful ways. It starts with a courteous and supportive community where students are safe to express opinions, ask questions, and try new skills. It continues with a faculty dedicated to helping each student discover their individual learning strengths and style. Students see that intelligence and creativity are not fixed. They can be nurtured and developed. As students learn more about how they learn, they become strong self-advocates—identifying what they need to continue growing intellectually—and using that self-knowledge to make influential, personal contributions to their community. In the college’s first year of operation, in 1964, then Okaloosa-Walton Junior College set about to choose a school mascot. 11. 17.
