About Me

  1. We daily reflect God's love for us in our interactions with others. We forgive others as God forgives us, and in doing so, we recognize the wrong, seek reconciliation, and begin anew. We display a moral character based on honesty, truthfulness, and faithfulness. We display patience through perseverance and self-control. We are considerate of others, honor their role, and recognize their worth as individuals. We interact with others fairly and equitably. We work together harmoniously, and in doing so, acknowledge differences but remain focused on achieving common goals. Give selflessly of our time and talents for others. We face the future with confidence, in anticipation of the possibilities God holds for us. We care for and have empathy with the situations of others as we walk alongside them. We encourage all to aim for excellence through realizing their potential. Lutheran schools have been a part of Australia's education landscape since 1839 and now extend into every state and territory of Australia except the ACT. Lutheran schools have experienced significant growth, which has led to system support at regional and national levels. Lutheran schools are schools of the Lutheran Church of Australia and, as such, are based on the central message of the gospel, namely the good news in that our acceptance by God does not depend on our worth or achievements but his unconditional commitment (love) for us, evidenced through the life and death of Jesus. The promotion of Christian growth and development in our students is a reflection of what Jesus has done for us. Lutheran schools offer quality teaching and learning experiences for each child to reflect their uniqueness. They are also seen as a community where caring and respectful relationships are developed and become the essential element binding the school community together to live out the school's ethos and values. As part of the Lutheran school system, St Mark's makes a difference as it respects the past, operates in the present, and looks boldly to the future. View full school
  2. St Mark's College is a K-12 co-educational college, operating within all federal (DEEWR) requirements and state (BOSTES) authorities. St. Mark's was initially established in 1996 at rented premises in Lidcombe and moved to our current Wattle Grove site in 1999. St Mark's College is proud of its Coptic Orthodox heritage, and this ethos exists in all areas throughout our school. Our faith is the cornerstone of our College community. The College is governed by the NSW Coptic Board of Education, responsible for our sister Colleges: St Mary & St Mina Coptic Orthodox College Bexley and St Bishoy Coptic Orthodox College Mt Druitt. Our school population consists of predominately of Coptic Orthodox students. However, St Mark's College is welcoming of students and their families from all backgrounds and cultures, currently boasting a current school population consisting of 21 different denominations. Increased interest from non-Coptic families who value the strong Christian ethos of the College currently attends from across 48 Sydney suburbs. The strong family feel of the College, the evident dedication and commitment of its professional staff, the powerful academic results achieved year after year are all elements that attract families wishing to enroll their children in a school that values education at both an academic and pastoral focus. Participation in Music, Sports, and other co-curricular activities is strongly promoted within the College, with the view to producing well-rounded individuals who can contribute positively to the future Australian society. Camps are an essential feature of the College curriculum, providing meaningful experiential learning and a diversity of cultural experiences for our students. All of our students are encouraged to strive for excellence in all of their pursuits. Excellence is always defined in relative rather than absolute terms. Personal best becomes the reference point for these determinations. A strong and committed staff helps our students achieve their educational goals within a caring and safe environment. St Mark's Coptic Orthodox College is a school that works in partnership with parents to create an atmosphere where Christian values and Coptic Orthodox tradition are the foundation of the school's practices and where students and staff feel secure and supported by all members of the school community. The distinctive, sincere, and continuous practice of Christian love, service, and humility provides students with the opportunity to develop and display a high moral standard. Our students are challenged to strive to achieve excellence and success in all areas of the curriculum by attaining their full potential, having confidence in who they are as Christian individuals, and becoming active participants in Church and the Australian community. 3. t Mark's was established in and by the local community in 1986 and has grown in 2018 to be a thriving learning community of more than 1,700 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school employs over 200 staff, including teachers, education assistants, music tutors, administrative, grounds, and maintenance staff. The School's Christian ethos and values promote a positive and respectful work environment and a culture which attracts and retains high-quality staff by fostering professionalism, collegiality, commitment, loyalty, and healthy pastoral care. St Mark's aims to maximize opportunities for its students to build rewarding and fulfilling futures based on the skills and competencies required to navigate the challenges of a world-changing in its nature in this 21st century. Several pathways are available at and through the school, and they can be tailored to facilitate these futures for students. The maintenance of a child-safe environment at St Mark's is paramount, and the sense of community that pervades the school and supports our young people in their learning, growth, and development is at our core. The School's Strategic Plan was launched early in 2015, with three strategic priorities for the following five years: (1) raising our academic ethos and profile (2) increasing our focus on the arts, creativity, and innovation and (3) connecting meaningfully with the Indian Ocean Rim and becoming more international in our perspective. With our long-term Master Plan, launched in 2017, and our ten-year Financial Plan, this current strategic plan will steer a course for us in our quest for continuous school improvement. The School's Master Plan will ensure the continued development of contemporary learning spaces for the 21st century, set amidst attractive, open grounds that enable positive relationships between our students. St Mark's facilities reflect those of a modern yet mature School and are in the early stages of a projected fifty million dollar building program over ten years. The first element of the program was new facilities for the Junior School, which opened in early 2017. The new spaces allowed the school to accommodate the third class in Years 2, 3, and 4. The most significant project of the building program to date is the new Alan Cadby Senior Academic Centre's construction, which was officially opened on 9 March 2018. The Senior Academic Centre accommodates Senior School students in Years 9 to 12. A commitment to developing the 'whole person' is central to St Mark's education through a diverse and enriching set of learning experiences provided across all Learning Areas, and including distinctive programs in the arts, sport, outdoor education, and service the community. I hope that St Mark's students will be typified by their compassion, acceptance, and care of others, resilience, the pursuit of being their best selves, and sense of community and global responsibility. The values of the school are central to all of this. To love God and love one's neighbor as you love yourself, the two great commandments underpin the strong relationships and partnership between students, parents, and staff. This ethos typifies the St Mark's community, creating a safe and happy place to work and learn. Families who wish to explore the opportunity to secure a St Mark's education for their children are encouraged to contact the school to provide further and more personalized information. St Mark's aims to foster character growth and develop a set of values and skills by teaching and example in a Christian setting through school life. The School motto is Seek Truth and Wisdom. The school has identified five values that reflect who we are as a school community, and these values are underpinned by the School's Mission Statement and Christian ethos. These five values are interwoven throughout all elements of School life, including policy development and process, pastoral care, and curriculum implementation. We actively listen to each other's thoughts and feelings and trust that those thoughts will be respected and valued. We learn continuously by gathering new facts, principles, and truths. Our knowledge and understanding grow when we put what we learn into practice. By having realistic confidence in ourselves and our abilities, we can set goals that are both challenging and achievable, whether those goals are in education, work, or society. We take responsibility for our actions by making positive choices, learning from our mistakes, and fulfilling our duties, and honoring our commitments to one another and our community. As a community, we work together to reach a shared goal, offering mutual support and encouragement. Individuals' skills and talents are recognized and acknowledged, allowing each individual to make a positive contribution to group efforts. View full school
  4. St Mark’s Church School is a co-educational Independent Anglican Diocesan School with children from Preschool to Year 8. Based in Wellington, we teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and St Mark’s is a registered IB World School. St Mark’s Church School was first promoted on the initiative of the Reverend Coffey, Vicar of St Mark’s Church, in the 1880s. With the blessing of the Bishop and the backing of the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Wellington, the School was established by St Mark’s Parish in 1917. Under the skilled leadership of the first Headmistress, Miss Annie Holm, St Mark’s Church Day School opened its doors to 37 pupils on 11 September 1917 and set out on its mission to provide girls and boys with the very best all-round education. An ambitious but fortuitous plan, and the rest, as they say, is history. St Mark’s has had ten principals who have developed and strengthened the ethos and culture of the school in their unique way. The School has built an enviable reputation for its quality of education, pastoral care, innovation, and excellence. We also boast many talented people, from past and present alumni and friends to staff who have helped this exceptional school evolve. St Mark’s is a modern and forward-looking school of around 300 students where the traditions of the past meet the modern technologies of today. It is a happy place where dedicated, professional teachers encourage our children to do their best in their academic studies and to enjoy everything that is on offer. There is a vibrant and supportive atmosphere here which makes it easy to share challenges. Boys and girls are encouraged to be ambitious in their goals and to work hard to achieve them however, we make sure there is also plenty of time to play and have fun. St Mark’s is proudly co-educational and committed to the value and importance of girls and boys learning and working together as they will in their adult lives. Our children come from many cultural and religious backgrounds, forming a very happy, inclusive, and international student community. We are a World School offering the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate and, as such, we promote international awareness in our young people with emphasis on the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to participate in an increasingly global society. St Mark’s Preschool is an independent, multicultural, and co-educational Preschool located on the grounds of St Mark’s School at the Basin Reserve. Providing an exemplary early childhood education for children in a vibrant, cheerful, and environmentally mindful setting, our Preschool is made up of two spaces: the Preschool and Foundation classrooms, catering for younger and older children and shared open spaces that allow for flexibility and creativity and the ability to respond to different teaching and learning styles. Preschool marks the beginning of your child’s educational journey where they develop their love for learning. At St Mark’s Preschool, we believe that children are agents of their learning. The children are actively engaged in our inquiry and learning program. Children have an active voice, responsibility, and stake in the learning environment. We pride ourselves in providing a safe, inclusive, and collaborative environment where each child’s individuality, innate curiosities, and desire to learn are nurtured. We believe that children’s success is achieved through collaboration between Preschool and whanau. We value, and are committed to, building positive relationships and partnerships with parents and caregivers. Whanau is valued as an important part of our community and our aim is that together we can support our tamariki to achieve their fullest potentials. We are delighted you are considering St Mark’s for your International Student, and it would be my pleasure to assist you with all aspects of the enrolment process as well as offering continued support whilst your child is attending our school. St Mark’s is Wellington’s only co-educational Primary School for girls and boys, from Preschool (age 2) to Year 8 (age 13). Educating children since 1917, St Mark’s is an Anglican school with a strong sense of family and community. Having recently celebrated our centenary, St Mark’s successfully blends traditional foundations and modern, forward-thinking educational practice. The International Baccalaureate, Primary Years Programme encourages children to become independent learners. To meet the needs of the fast-paced and ever-changing world that our students will enter, we want our children to have a strong set of problem-solving strategies, the ability to think critically as well as the knowledge and skills to apply to new and unfamiliar tasks. We expect that our students will continue to question throughout their lives and have a strong sense of fairness towards all people. As a result of their learning, we want children to take socially responsible action that has an impact on themselves, their friends, the school, and the community in which they live.
  5. St. Mark's Catholic Primary School is a large school at the heart of its community. We currently have 210 pupils on our roll. We are a one form entry school with up to 30 pupils in each year group. We have a very large site that offers our pupils an exceptional environment in which to learn. We have a large playing field, two play 'jungle' areas, two large playgrounds, and an outdoor classroom for learning. When a child begins their education with us they will most likely begin in our Reception Class. Our Early Years teachers offer a very wide variety of experiences and opportunities for pupils to express themselves and learn. Our pupils' personal, social and emotional development is key and our dedicated team of staff ensures pupils' needs are met every day. Child Initiated learning is a fundamental part of our EYFS practice and our pupils very quickly develop into confident, independent learners that are well prepared to move into Year 1. At St. Mark's we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is based on the aim of developing confident, independent pupils, high in self-esteem, with meaningful skills and a clear understanding of their place in the world. Our curriculum is creative, fun, and full of interesting and vibrant learning experiences for all our pupils. Our lunchtimes are packed full of fun activities for pupils to take part in and we have a high number of lunchtime and after-school clubs on offer to enrich the learning experiences of our pupils. Our Aims: To create a happy, caring environment where each child can develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem. To establish good, sound academic standards through high expectations and a broad and balanced curriculum, enabling each child to attain his/her full potential. To promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, physical, and creative development of each child and prepare each to take his/her place as a valuable member of a multicultural society. To foster a love of learning, a respect for each other, and pride in the school as a caring and supportive community. To develop all staff and provide ongoing training which will benefit teacher and child alike in our commitment to raising standards in all areas of school life. To assist each child to feel confident in a fast-changing technological society. To develop a working partnership between home and school. To develop a sense of responsibility towards each other, the school, and the community. To create an attractive, stimulating, and comfortable environment where staff, children, and parents enjoy working. To strive to improve and be the best in everything we do. St. Mark's Catholic Primary School is inclusive. We believe in inclusion in mainstream school wherever possible, to enable all pupils, whatever their educational needs to achieve their full potential. Children with special needs are primarily supported within the classroom by the year group team. Year group staff are aware of the needs of the pupils and, with input from the SENCO, they maintain a provision management map, which details how individual needs will be met through the use of a SEND Support Plan. Progress is closely monitored and appropriate interventions and additional support are available to pupils who need it. Everyone at St. Mark's is dedicated to providing the best possible education and care to every single young person we serve. We aim to give all our children an exciting and challenging faith-based curriculum so that they discover and develop their God-given skills and talents during their time at St. Mark's. Our school has a strong 'family feel' and this is reflected in the good relationships that exist between governors, parents, staff, and pupils. St. Mark's is a vibrant learning community and uses every means possible to motivate and challenge its pupils. We encourage learning in the outdoor environment and the experiences of our pupils are enriched through all aspects of the curriculum. Educational visits to places connected to the class topic also play a vital part in our curriculum. At St. Mark's we are dedicated to improving children's knowledge of Gospel values based on the Beatitudes - children to be able to use and apply these values in their everyday lives. We aim to Improve pupils' knowledge and understanding of the values of love, faith, hope, gentleness, compassion, temperance, forgiveness, mercy, wisdom, purity, holiness, integrity, truth, peace, fortitude, service, sacrifice, justice, and tolerance.
  6. The St Mark's School community is founded on the Christian values of love, justice and peace expressed in the gospels. These values underpin everything that we do within the School. We view each person as special and unique. We recognize and respond to their gifts, their needs, and their aspirations. We seek to show love and care for all individuals, celebrating achievement and providing support when difficulties are experienced. We recognize the crucial role which parents have to play in the education of their children. The continuing success of St Mark's School is based on this positive partnership between parents and School. The active involvement of parents in the life of the School brings a unique warmth and vitality to St Mark's. St Mark's enjoys an outstanding reputation for academic achievement based on a consistent record of excellent examination results. This Summer's A-Level results were outstanding with A*-A grades 41% and A*-B grades 75%, the best results in Hounslow Local Authority. Twenty-two students achieved all A*/A grades including two students who gained three A* grades. Over 100 students are moving on to universities including Oxford and Cambridge and studying competitive courses such as Medicine. Our highly professional staff are dedicated to ensuring that every pupil fulfills their full potential. Pupils of all abilities are provided with appropriate work which challenges and extends them. We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning throughout the curriculum. Pupils require an orderly environment to focus on their studies effectively. We insist on the highest standards of behavior and self-discipline. We expect all pupils to work hard, to show respect and courtesy for others and to take a pride in their appearance. The School continues to offer a broad and balanced curriculum designed to meet the opportunities and challenges of adult life in the 21st century. Our thriving Sixth Form greatly enhances the character of the School. The high staying on the rate is a testament to the very positive pupil-teacher relationships which are established at St Mark's. Our Sixth Form students enjoy a challenging and enriching curriculum which enables the great majority to go on to further study, including Oxbridge. St. Mark's is concerned with the education of the whole person and for this reason, religious education is at the heart of the school, making explicit what is implicit in all areas of the curriculum. We believe that the outcome of religious education should be religiously literate young people who think spiritually, ethically, and theologically and who are aware of the demands of religious commitment in everyday life. The existence of a chapel in the main school building shows the commitment St Mark's has to ensure that all pupils will have the opportunity to grow in their faith. Assemblies are an integral part of school life where the community joins together to pray and celebrate publicly the individual achievements of the pupils.
  7. At St. Mark’s we believe that every child is loved by God. This means that we strive to ensure that every child is given the opportunities and support they need to reach their maximum learning potential within a safe, caring, and welcoming environment. This is at the root of our Mission Statement and Aims. St Mark’s School was founded on these strong Christian principles, more than one hundred years ago, to provide a good education to local children. Today we still give priority to those who live in the locality (defined by the parish of St Mark). However we also believe that God welcomes all, and therefore we encourage applications from children and families from any faith or none who wish to share in our loving community where the Christian faith helps us develop children’s values and support their well-being. The values we promote within the school are drawn from the Bible. We believe these Christian values will help children become better people throughout their lives and we celebrate the fact that these values can be shared by all regardless of religious belief. We are very proud of our Christian Ethos and we draw strength and inspiration from the diversity of our school community. We believe that both help us to offer a unique and special environment in which children can grow. These are just some of the many aspects of school life that make our community special: - Collective Worship Religious Education Working with St. Mark’s Church Class Friends Prayer Spaces Parent Prayer Group Charity Fair To ensure that as a school we offer the very best distinctively and effective Christian environment the Church of England, through the Diocese of Rochester, regularly monitors the school’s distinctively Christian Character. To do so it uses the National Society's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005. SIAMS inspections take place every 3-5 years. The school, with support from the governors, ensures that we are meeting the criteria for this inspection through the very best Christian Leadership. Grounded in Christian faith and worship, St Mark’s C of E Primary School is: A caring community welcoming of all Dedicated to high standards of achievement and behavior Where learning is enjoyable and rewarding And the gifts and abilities of every child are recognized and nurtured. St. Mark's is a welcoming school where we create a loving, caring community in which children are encouraged to achieve their academic potential and grow in confidence, assurance, and consideration for others as they learn about themselves and the world in which they live. At the same time, we aim to develop a spirit of adventure and inquiry so that children may meet the opportunities and challenges in our changing society. At St. Mark’s school, we strive to create a loving, caring community reinforced by the teachings of Christ. We follow St. Paul’s advice to the Colossians. As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly teach one another in all wisdom and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. From this, our school reading, we take the values of: Fellowship Compassion Kindness Humility Gentleness Patience Forgiveness Love Peace Thankfulness Wisdom These values are promoted across the school by all children and adults, in all that we do in our classrooms, outside them, and throughout our wider community. They reinforce our relationships and our behavior. They help us to create confident, self-assured children who know how to treat others, as well as establishing a sense of community that is demonstrated by the life-long friendships formed here. The Aquinas Church of England Education Trust offers a clear educational vision of ‘Life Transforming Learning’ for the local communities we serve within the Diocese of Rochester. Formed through a partnership between primary and secondary phases, we offer an unparalleled understanding of the whole child’s educational journey, mindful of both academic achievement and personal development. We are proud that each school in the trust is distinctive in its own right guided by the children, families, and professionals who form the learning community. What brings us together is our distinctive Christian ethos that ensures that everyone is equally valued as a child of God. Our schools are truly inclusive – we welcome all children regardless of background or belief. Aquinas sets the highest standards for all our children without exception. We are committed to providing exemplary teaching across all our schools and challenge professionals to work ‘beyond outstanding’. Whilst we celebrate excellence we move quickly to respond to the needs of individuals and close gaps with personalized provision. Professionals can access a broad range of experience and expertise ensuring good practice is developed between schools. As an education trust, we empower school leaders to grow their schools. In this way, we ensure the most appropriate provision in every school on a day-to-day basis whilst delivering innovative teaching and exemplary pastoral care. At the same time, we offer strong governance that supports and challenges in equal measure in a relentless pursuit of the highest standards and continual improvement.
  8. St Mark's follows the London Borough of Merton admissions policy and Merton coordinates admissions for all year groups. Children start St Mark’s Nursery in January or September following their third birthday. The nursery has 39 children in September and is then full from January, with 52 children. Each year there is a single application and offer process for Nursery places. Applications for admission to Nursery can be made on paper forms or online via the link below. Offers are sent out to parents/carers in May. Once a place has been accepted parents/carers are invited to visit the school and meet the Nursery staff who will explain the settling in process. Children are admitted to Reception in the September following their fourth birthday. Much of the learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage is done through playing and exploring and being active and creative, both indoors and outside. There is a mix of adult-led and child-led and child-initiated activities. As children go through into reception class the balance will gradually shift towards more activities led by adults. Children and young people spend lots of time on the internet. They may go online to research information for homework or to play games. The internet holds a massive amount of useful information and can also be a really good way of learning about new things and keeping in contact with friends and family. It can also be an incredibly dangerous place so children must be protected and monitored when they are online. St Mark’s Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its pupils. Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education. Authorized absence will only be granted during term time in exceptional circumstances and only then if past attendance has been excellent. At St Mark's we believe that it is essential for home and school to work together to help all of our children succeed and reach their full potential. Therefore all families are asked to sign a 'home school agreement' when they join the school. If your child needs to have a prescribed (by a doctor) medicine administered at school you must complete a form that is available from the school office. We ask you to bring in medicine in the prescribed container/packet to the school office where we will ask you to fill in a form. If your child is sick at home we ask that you do not bring them to school until at least 24 hours has elapsed, to avoid the risk of infecting other children. It is a primary aim of our school that every member of the school community feels valued and respected and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring community, the values of which are built on mutual trust and respect for all. The school's behavior policy is therefore designed to support how all members of the school can live and work together in a supportive way. It aims to promote an environment in which everyone feels happy, safe, and secure. The school has several rules, but our behavior policy is not primarily concerned with rule enforcement. It is a means of promoting good relationships so that people can work together with the common purpose of helping everyone to learn. This policy supports the school community in aiming to allow everyone to work together in an effective and considerate way. AR is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. At St Mark’s the children in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 use AR. Your child picks a book at his/her level and reads it at his/her own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer - passing the quiz is an indication that your child has understood what has been read. STAR Reading is used to determine your child’s reading level. It is a computer-based reading assessment program that uses computer-adaptive technology. Questions continually adjust to your child’s responses. If the child’s response is correct, the difficulty level is increased. If the child cannot answer a question or answers incorrectly, the difficulty level is reduced. The test uses multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 10 minutes. At St Mark’s we believe that healthy and active children are more successful and happier learners. That is why we invest time and money into ensuring we offer a broad P.E. (Physical Education) experience for our pupils both in and out of their timetabled lessons. We give all the children the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of physical activities. At least two hours of P.E. lessons are timetabled each week for every class (for pupils in Years 1-6). In addition to curriculum P.E. and competitive sports fixtures, we offer a wide range of after-school sports clubs as well as lunchtime sports throughout the week.
  9. Our school is a popular inner-city and diverse one-form entry that serves its local community and the Parish of St Marks. As a Church of England school, we celebrate our Christian values that underpin much of what we strive to achieve. These values are also linked to our school vision and are evident not just visually around the school, but also in terms of how we treat each other, notably with mutual respect and courtesy. We are fully committed to ensuring that children are given the best possible learning opportunities by providing high-quality creative, fun, and challenging learning experiences. This includes all children taking part in events and activities both in and out of school to support learning. We are committed to ensuring that our school motto ‘Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day’ is fully realized in all that we aim to achieve for our children. We believe that providing a safe, happy and purposeful learning environment for our children will go some way in helping us to secure the levels of success that together, I aspire to achieve so that we continue to thrive as the great school that we are in the heart of our local community. St Mark's School Vision: Provision Happiness Success Faith World Achievement Our school is closely linked to St Mark’s Church on Tollington Park. During the year, our children visit the school on several occasions, usually to take part in celebrating the main Christian festivals, but also as part of our Religious Education topic when learning about the church and when we say goodbye to our Year, 6 children, at their leavers’ service. At St Mark’s, we aim to develop the children’s instinct to explore into a love of learning. This will be fun and exciting, but also challenging. We aim to work in close partnership with parents/carers, to provide an environment that is happy, loving, warm, stimulating, and safe. Our children will be stimulated and nurtured to become competent, confident, independent, and cooperative learners. We value all children’s cultural inheritance, diversity of language and beliefs and foster the development of the whole child socially, emotionally, creatively, physically, academically, and spiritually in an environment that is safe, calm, and challenging. At St Mark’s CE Primary, our curriculum is based on the belief that every child should be provided with an equal opportunity to take ownership of and become masters of their learning. We are also committed to ensuring that our children develop well spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally (SMSC). We do this through activities and explicit teaching that includes: Providing children with opportunities to use their imagination and creativity in their learning Enabling children to be reflective about their own beliefs and those of others so that they develop an interest in and respect for others Ensuring that children recognize the difference between right and wrong and in doing so, understanding the consequences of their behavior and actions Showing an interest and playing an active part in artistic, sporting, and cultural opportunities Providing children with the tools to become increasingly socially skilled to mix with children and people from all faiths and backgrounds These core SMSC principles are part of the values by which we live our lives in modern-day Britain and principles which we hope will help prepare our children to increasingly become successful 21st-century citizens.

We provide an inclusive, caring, and supportive environment where children learn and flourish in a setting shaped by Christian values. We welcome applications from all members of the wider local community and we ask all parents to respect the Christian ethos of our Academy and its importance to our community. The Governors of the Academy are committed to developing an inclusive Academy that reflects the diversity of the local community. An application form is required to be completed. Candidates would be expected to meet minimum course requirements. If applying from an external school a report and reference will be necessary. Entry to the Sixth Form will be dependent on places being available on the course applied for. We are inclusive of all faiths, as well as none, and support unity between different religions, cultures, and beliefs. All our students are individuals and every student is valued for their uniqueness and the skills and aptitudes they bring to the Academy. A key strength of St Mark's is the very aptitudes they bring to the Academy. A key strength of St Mark's is the very high-quality relationships that exist between members of a highly diverse school community- the Academy has a strong set of values shared by all. The Academy is situated on extensive grounds in a pleasant green field location with first-class resources for success. Our specialisms in Science and Performing Arts support our students to develop confidence, understanding, and skills in these areas and beyond into the broader curriculum. At St Mark’s, our mission is to provide an outstanding education for every young adult that learns with us. As a school-based Sixth Form College, students who attend can enjoy the extra freedoms and responsibilities, yet remain part of a nurturing and challenging community founded on love, hope, and trust. Our varied curriculum offer ensures students can prepare for the next stage of their education. Whether their ambition is to attend a Russell Group University or gain credible qualifications respected and recognized by universities leading directly into employment and training, we have the path that will facilitate this. Each day students will experience high-quality, creative teaching and learning, delivered by staff who have a unique understanding of pupils’ strengths and areas for development. This will inspire a thirst for learning. Our students have excellent leadership and enrichment opportunities that provide the skill set required for higher education. We pride ourselves on high-quality career guidance and exceptional links with apprenticeship schemes and businesses that prepare our students for the world of work. Strong relationships between home and school are vital to the success of young people. Parents/carers of students at St. Mark’s receive six reports each year – one per half term. These show students’ progress in their subjects and the efforts that they are making to succeed. One of these is a lengthier report which forms the student’s annual report. There is a full program of parents’ evenings, giving a chance for parents and carers to meet all the teachers of their son or daughter. There are also many other ways that parents and carers can be involved, including parent forms, surgeries, information evenings… and more. Parents and carers have joined us in our planning time as we see them as key partners in taking the Academy forward. All parents and carers are welcome to join us at the Parent Forum meeting at the Academy. This forum provides an opportunity for parents/carers to develop new ways to engage more families, as well as developing events and activities with parents in mind. We look forward to developing this group and everyone is welcome. Learning is our core purpose. At St Mark’s we structure learning to excite our students’ curiosity and to inspire them to become successful, lifelong independent learners. Our teachers are extremely enthusiastic and passionate about their subjects, spending considerable time planning interesting and interactive lessons and communicating their passion for their subjects to the students. We are fortunate to have a high-quality learning environment with the latest technologies to enhance the curriculum. Our vibrant learning and resource center, outstanding assembly hall and extensive sports facilities support and enhance learning too along with our varied enrichment program. Opportunities to nurture independent learning skills are provided through our many different learning platforms. Our modern facilities help to provide greater variety in teaching methods and therefore make learning more engaging and interactive. We aim to foster a genuine love and excitement about learning in every child at St Mark’s.

Courage and Honor are two words commonly used to describe the ethos of our campus. As the School motto, these terms remind us what values underpin our mission and daily work. If you visit our School, you will quickly see that we have some of the most vital academic, athletic, artistic, and extracurricular programs imaginable. The St. Mark's Board of Trustees intends for the School to be a diverse community of teachers and students who share a love of learning and who strive for high achievement in whatever they undertake. Challenging studies in the Sciences, Arts, and Humanities form the basis of a St. Mark's education. Teachers work to instill an enthusiasm for learning, encourage independent and critical judgment, and demonstrate the methods for making sound inquiries and effective communication. To complement this academic experience, St. Mark's offers boys a wide variety of opportunities for involvement and leadership in the school community and on its playing fields to realize their potential, rewarding those who strive as well as those who achieve. St. Mark's aims to prepare young men for assuming leadership and responsibility in a competitive and changing world. To this end, the School professes and upholds specific values. These values include the discipline of postponing immediate gratification in the interest of earning eventual, hard-won satisfaction the responsibility of defending one's ideas, of respecting the views of others, and of accepting the consequences for one's actions and an appreciation for the lively connection between knowledge and responsibility, privilege and the obligation to serve. Generations of Marksmen affirm that St. Mark's provides one of the most rigorous and rewarding educations in the nation. An investment in education lasts a lifetime, and evaluating and honing the academic program remains a top priority. 13.

15. t Mark's was established in and by the local community in 1986 and has grown in 2018 to be a thriving learning community of more than 1,700 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

  20. View full school
  21. View full school
  22. View full school

The Academy encourages the development of the moral and spiritual well-being of students, alongside their academic success. The Academy works closely with and is supported by, its sponsor, CfBT Schools Trust, and its key partner the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education. Our vision at St Mark’s is to raise the achievement and life chances of our students and to serve our community by providing access to a range of activities, first-class resources, and opportunities. As a Church of England Academy, we encourage the development of our students’ moral and spiritual well-being as much as their academic success. St Mark’s Church of England Academy has a distinctive Christian ethos which is at the heart of this Academy. 24. View full school
