Students of all faiths, however, are welcome. A full academic program, as required by the State of California, is offered. The curriculum reflects a commitment to educating the whole person. In contrast, the secondary school guides students to fulfill their personal and civic responsibilities and cherish their families, nation, and living beings. 3. The Private Elementary School Thiergarten Palace was founded in 2010 and commenced for the first time in the school year 2010–2011. The Private Grundschule Schloss Thiergarten der Dr. Wiesent Schulen gGmbH (Private Elementary School Schloss Thiergarten of the Dr. Wiesent Schools gGmbH) , a private elementary school and non-profit limited company, is managed by Dr. Wiesent Schulen gGmbH, which already runs several schools (www.senivita-schulen.de), as well as the friends association International School Bayreuth e. V., an organization for the support of the private elementary school Private Grundschule Schloss Tiergarten. Dr. Horst Wiesent is the Managing Director, while the Managing Partner is Dr. Wiesent Schulen gGmbH. The idea of establishing a bilingual school in Bayreuth is not new, however, the initiators were constantly faced with complex organizational and pedagogical challenges which prevented the project from setting course. To establish a private school in Germany, certain criteria must be met, which include providing a systematic concept that takes into account all legal parameters and local conditions. The constructive and sustainable interplay of various persons and institutions, as well as persuasive public relations, are the basic requirements for success. The decisive factor in achieving our goal, however, proved to be the integrated work of a competent responsible body that is familiar with the many complexities of such a company and is willing to act for a good cause, despite all barriers and setbacks. The cooperation with SeniVita OHG Bayreuth and the booster club International School Bayreuth e. V. finally led to achieving our goal. Thanks to a combination of persons willing to establish a school as well as financial starting aid and skills in the creation of such companies, the Private Grundschule Schloss Thiergarten ultimately experienced a breakthrough. After the main course was set, there was nothing that stood in the way from running the school in the school year 2010-11. Our bilingual elementary school follows the pedagogical principles established by Maria Montessori in terms of starting bilingual education from first grade on. This is followed by the step-by-step development of the English language within the school context, thus enabling an easy transfer to any secondary school (German or English) from the fourth grade onwards. Regular lessons are from 8 am - 2 pm Our timetable contains four English lessons per week. Our English native speakers communicate with our students in the English language during the entire school programs (regular school time and during afternoon lessons) enabling our students to learn the English language without even realizing the learning progress.
  4. Dhahran Elementary Middle School is an accredited, not-for-profit school offering an American curriculum to culturally diverse students from kindergarten through grade eight. With an uncompromising commitment to educational excellence and a strong partnership with parents, our dedicated staff ensures optimal student learning in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. We inspire innovation and compassionate action. Like a magician’s trick or grandma’s secret cookie recipe, a successful journey through elementary and middle school can sometimes seem like an elusive concept. It doesn’t have to be. DEMS is proud to help students find clarity in that journey we do this not by ignoring the growing pains, but instead by embracing them. DEMS provides a wonderfully diverse student population a safe and secure learning environment in which to explore, succeed and exceed. Students are held to a high standard of excellence because DEMS teachers see educational struggles not as failures, but rather as opportunities for growth. The school implements standards-based curricula and assessments, and teachers believe in collaborative planning practices to guarantee the fidelity of every child’s education. DEMS teachers educate the whole child and encourage students to take agency over their educational path. Cultivating a sense of community ranks as a top priority, as it should be in every school, but it is especially essential in international schools. Knowing each other and about each other is the natural first step in being compassionate toward each other. Therefore, we implement Responsive Classroom, including daily meetings focused on fostering a sense of friendship and community also used is a student mentoring program for new students transitioning in. Students will feel welcomed by DEMS staff and students alike, as they collaboratively strive toward independence. Kindergarten at Dhahran Elementary Middle School is a place where strong foundations are built for a lifetime of learning. Our Kindergarten teachers believe it is a privilege to help open young minds and to encourage them to become explorers in ways that will stand set them up to become happy, enquiring students with good oral and social skills. From the earliest grades, Dhahran Elementary Middle School students are active learners who analyze and question, take risks, and learn from failure in a supportive environment and are given opportunities to express themselves through writing, presentations, and discussions. In Elementary School, we work on building children's self-confidence and self-advocacy. As well as the core curriculum subjects, our young learners have regular sessions in physical education, art, music, Arabic, and visits to the school library. Experiential learning beyond the classroom through field trips keeps them engaged in learning in the wider world. The transition from Elementary to Middle School brings its unique challenges and DEMS teachers are sensitive to this. Guided by a distinctive Middle School philosophy, we provide a carefully structured, well-balanced curricular and co-curricular program designed to support students' development. In line with recognized US educational standards, our middle school program focuses on meeting the educational and social needs of young adolescents. Appropriate content knowledge in all subjects is carefully balanced to guide students through these years of significant social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development. We have much to be proud of here at DEMS, offering an excellent academic program on a safe and secure campus, complemented by a comprehensive specialist and elective schedule of classes. Our student support programs and extensive after-school activities offer all students the chance to thrive in a multicultural environment where creativity is nurtured along with academic achievement and lots of physical activity. Our campus is shared by Dhahran High School and the Dhahran British Grammar School. The advantage of this arrangement is having access to excellent shared facilities that enhance our program, for example, our library is one of the best in the Middle East. Added to that is the vibrancy and stimulation of being part of a thriving educational community, making our students confident and outgoing. They are accepting of others, open-minded, and keen to learn every day is both challenging and rewarding for them. DEMS provides a full American Curriculum for its students. Much emphasis has been placed on moving away from the traditional model of teaching from a textbook and designing courses based on standards. The backward model of course and unit design has brought many challenges for teachers but has shown to be more innovative in terms of moving to more student-centered classrooms focused on learner agency. Coupled with this have been newly adopted standards that have been carefully implemented to maximize professional learning and support. Our continually updated curricular areas are designed with learner outcomes as our focus, and excellent text materials are used as primary sources of information. Teachers have multiple supplementary resources available to help them effectively address the outcomes, including our outstanding library. Dhahran Academy (now DEMS) was founded in 1962 as a school for US Consulate employees and is now one of three schools located adjacent to the American Consulate. 650+ students and 50 staff members work, learn, and play together in a diverse community of over 50 nationalities. With an uncompromising commitment to excellence, the mission of our staff, parents, and community is to ensure optimal student learning and success. DEMS provides a full American Curriculum for its students. Much emphasis has been placed on moving away from the traditional model of teaching from a textbook and designing courses based on standards. 9. A warm and welcoming environment for any child's early education experience, the contemporary-style elementary building, housing Kindergarten to Grade 6, offers bright and colorful classrooms and boasts its music room, library, and a cafeteria, where hot meals—included in the elementary fees—are prepared and served daily. The gymnasium is equipped with a climbing wall, and the large, secure outdoor play area has its own synthetic turf soccer field, play structure, and a beautiful outdoor classroom (garden) maintained by Kells students. All classrooms are equipped with electronic whiteboards (SmartBoards), and all students have access to laptop computers and iPads. Working as an educator in the public sector, I found that devoting time to after-school tutorials was the most positive and enriching experience for my students. I was consistently impressed at what students were able to learn and accomplish in a few short tutoring sessions compared to the hours spent trying to master the same material in the classroom. This led me to consider a practical application of the tutorial model in a classroom setting and resulted in the 1978 establishment of a unique tutorial service: the Westmount Learning Centre and, ultimately, to the founding of Kells Academy. To recreate the one-on-one tutorial experience, we committed to a warm, welcoming environment and engaging supportive and enthusiastic teachers. Using this model, we were able to make learning more engaging, meaningful, and relevant. Most importantly, teach at the individual pace of each student— attributes we maintain and adhere to, to this very day. In 1990, Kells Academy acquired its building in NDG at the corner of De Maisonneuve Boulevard West and Park Row West. Further expansion took place in 2004 with the acquisition of the Hydro Quebec building situated on Cavendish Boulevard corner of De Maisonneuve. Now, our thriving elementary campus under the direction of Marla Perlman. CHOOSING THE RIGHT KINDERGARTEN FOR YOUR CHILD IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISIONS YOU'LL EVER MAKE! 12. It has been two glorious years since AIS Montessori & Elementary School was founded. Over these two years, while the school was smoothly moving forward, the Administrative staff have worked diligently to bring AIS to a new level. As a result, it was decided to add dimension to its educational system – Montessori and Early Childhood Education. We are proud to announce that AIS International School has now evolved into AIS Montessori & Elementary School. AIS Montessori & Elementary School maintains the original AIS goal with the addition of Montessori and Early Childhood Education; We will ensure student success encompassing the advancement and growth of the whole student. We will hearten their academic ambitions, strengthen their character, and augment their leadership skills through an innovative approach combining the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, Chinese Culture curriculum, Montessori curriculum, and Early Childhood Care. 13. Enter a welcoming environment where teachers understand that a one size fits all learning approach does not work. 14.
