      1. At South Central Interior Distance Education School – SCIDES – we offer Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) courses and courses for adult learners. We are a fully funded, public, and accredited BC school located in School District 58. Our programs and courses are free for BC residents. Tuition fees only apply to international students and may apply for some courses for adults who have already graduated. SCIDES is a distributed learning (DL) school, meaning most of our students are primarily at a distance from our teachers, whether they are studying online at home, within another educational facility, or anywhere else with an internet connection. Distributed learning students completing their studies with SCIDES will receive their British Columbia Dogwood graduation diplomas (we celebrate over 50 graduates of all ages each year!). Among all the educational opportunities schools in BC have to offer, distributed learning is one we feel very excited and passionate about. We believe it is an excellent way to get a quality education that's personalized and fits into your life. At SCIDES, we offer elementary and secondary students the opportunity to personalize their learning and fully control their educational paths. Adult learners have the chance to upgrade, graduate or take additional courses without ever stepping inside a BC face-to-face high school. A comprehensive list of over 130 online courses (browse them all here!) allows you to choose and design a program that is both flexible in delivery and supportive of your unique learning style. We provide the materials, resources, planning, reports, and personal support required – you choose the program that best fits your life, whether full-time or cross-enrollment with a face-to-face school. Our staff at SCIDES is always available for our students and works hard to build relationships with educators at cross-enrolled schools to ensure the best experience. Our students come from a wide range of experiences, and our mission is to create a personalized learning environment for anyone, anywhere, in any situation! We support elite athletes, gifted learners, adult learners looking to upgrade, families abroad for both work and travel, and students with learning disabilities, injuries, or with an illness that prevents them from attending regular classes – and most importantly: students and their families, who want to take charge of their educational path. The Elementary Program at SCIDES follows the BC Ministry of Education curriculum. Of course, it also includes a variety of resources for all levels of support. Grades K-7 Programs are free of charge to BC residents because SCIDES is an accredited BC public school. Today's families lead a busy lifestyle, and flexible quality education is just one of many reasons parents choose an education with SCIDES for their elementary-age children. Other reasons are the individual and educational needs of students, as well as their learning styles. Remote location or other circumstances may also make it difficult for students to attend the nearest school. No two families are alike, but SCIDES truly has an excellent solution for every family's educational needs - our passionate advisers and teachers will make sure the needs of all students are met, with various program options. Let's plan a program that will ensure your child's learning success together! Your teacher will work with you to review and understand each curricular subject area's learning standards for the school year. Then together, you will choose one of the three program options best suited for you. At SCIDES, you have the option of enrolling with us full-time, or you can attend part-time while you complete the majority of your courses at another school. Would you like the flexibility of learning from home? Complete all ministry requirements needed for the high school grades via distributed learning with SCIDES and find your passion along the way. You will have the full support of BC certified teachers and a vast variety of e-learning courses, enhanced by individual learning plans and pacing options. Distributed learning will adjust to your lifestyle, giving you the tools to obtain a BC Dogwood Certificate successfully. Our program encourages students to become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers. Grade 8 and 9 courses emphasize students were making connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. They foster the development of communication skills, intercultural understanding, and global engagement, all qualities that are essential for life in the 21st century. The BC curriculum for these grades covers English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Physical and Health Education, Applied Skills, Design, Technology Electives, Fine Arts Electives, Languages (French, Spanish, etc.), and Career Education. Students will participate in online courses where they independently complete the learning outcomes in the core subject areas. Flexibility is available for students to pursue areas of interest and passion in the elective subjects. Students and parent facilitators will collaborate with teachers to meet learning outcomes in creative ways. Throughout their course(s), students will have the opportunity to interact with their teacher(s) using online tools, e-mail, and telephone and schedule face-to-face teacher instruction. Successful online students are self-motivated, comfortable with technology, and thrive in a self-paced environment. If this describes you, then enroll with us! See below for the Responsibilities Agreement applicable to all SCIDES students. As a student in grades 10 - 12, you have part-time cross-enrollment options, or you can attend SCIDES full time, both leading to graduation with the BC Dogwood Certificate. Would you like to stay in your high school, but it cannot fit in all your interests? Add flexibility to your school calendar by enrolling with SCIDES for select courses that otherwise would not fit into your schedule. Attend high school and personalize your education through e-learning with us! SCIDES teachers work with high school counselors across BC to offer students a wide variety of distributed learning courses. With cross enrollment, you can have the best of both worlds. 4. The Philosophy Education is the acquisition and utilization of knowledge. Knowledge in the management field, like other disciplines, is expanding very fast. Education is central to human resource development and empowerment in any country, and the quality of education is judged by the kind of human it produces. Education is the means whereby adults pass on their beliefs and values to their children. The growing internationalization of higher education, especially professional courses and institutions, increasing international co-operation, and the emergence of new, transnational education providers pose a challenge to the country's higher education systems. The contemporary knowledge-based society demands managers who are flexible and versatile. They need to learn continuously and upgrade their skills as technology advances. Innovative forms of transnational education based on the internet have been opened to students around the world. This has made distance education a more prosperous and rewarding experience. IMT CDL has been contributing to this educational revolution in its way. Fully alive to the emerging challenge, the Centre has taken the lead in preparing managers of tomorrow armed with a distinct vision, blended with technology and skills. The Centre strives to create all-round leaders in management and entrepreneurship by helping its students acquire the necessary skills. Vision Imparting continuum of management education through distance mode to learners across the globe. Mission Be an academic community leveraging technology as a bridge to innovation and life-long learning. To continuously evolve management competencies for enhanced employability and entrepreneurship. To serve society through excellence and leadership in management education, research and consultancy.

      6. UNED is aware of how important it is for you, as a new student, to know your University and to integrate into it in the best possible way. UNED is thus particularly keen to put all possible resources at your disposal to develop the skills necessary to be a distance student. To this end, UNED offers you a Welcome Plan for New Students. This plan has three main objectives: Offer you the best information to facilitate your integration into the University. Better orient you during the enrollment process to matriculate what best suits you and meets your needs and characteristics. Provide you with a range of support resources during your first year and during your formative courses on the specific methodology of distance learning and the competencies needed to undertake independent learning controlled and regulated by you. UNED has developed and continues to develop a wide range of online and face-to-face activities to meet the plan's objectives. The National Distance Education University (UNED) has as its mission the public service of higher education through distance education. Facts and data about UNED: At more than 205,000 students, UNED has the largest student population in Spain and is one of Europe's largest universities. Since 1972, UNED has sought to translate into action the principle of equal opportunity in access to higher education through a methodology based on distance learning principles and focused on the needs of the student. UNED is the leader in implementing cutting-edge technologies applied to learning, with the most extensive virtual courses in Spain. Through its extensive distribution of centers, classrooms, libraries, and professor-tutors throughout Spain and abroad, UNED puts at your disposal the services, qualifications, and resources that any traditional university can offer; however, through UNED, you have the freedom to reconcile work and family life with the educational improvement required by the knowledge society in a global world. UNED is a university where distance is no object because, through its educational methodology, UNED is the only University that offers the possibility of obtaining formal qualifications adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) from anywhere in the world. Likewise, UNED is the only University with centers in the Americas, Africa, Europe, and all the Autonomous Communities of Spain. Finally, training at UNED is carried out using new technologies, principally the Internet.

      11. Established in 1979, ACS Distance Education is a leading Australian Distance Education provider that offers over 600 courses via correspondence, online, or on CD. The institution has staff working out of Victoria, S.A., and Qld in Australia, Scotland and England, and N.Z. Our courses, course notes, and most recommended texts are all developed by our staff. These courses are also delivered worldwide through our network of affiliates. ACS has educated over 150,000 full and part-time students, many of whom have gone on to successful employment, both in industry or in their businesses. Others have used their courses to develop a hobby or simply broaden their general education. We currently have over 4000 students enrolled from Australia and around the world. The school employs staff in three states of Australia, plus the U.K. and New Zealand. As such, our courses and service have a truly global focus. The courses have been developed with substantial industry input from around the world. They are continually updated based on surveys undertaken by both current students and graduates every month of the year. The school holds high the ideals of practical education, emphasizing in all courses those things which are relevant to "real life." Courses offered to cater to hobby interest through to formal training in the industry and the professions. We believe that by providing an alternative education to mainstream vocational colleges and universities, we can differentiate our graduates and give them real life advantages over graduates from more traditional institutions. However, these differences must be (and are) pursued without compromising academic excellence in any way whatsoever. In principle, we tend to favor experiential learning and problem based learning rather than CBT (Competency-Based Training). We believe learning is more important than assessment. For us, assessment should be provided more to enhance the learning experience and less to rank students; the school and its tutors have always been active in the industry. We believe strongly that maintaining an awareness of current information and trends enables us to keep our course notes and services to students up to date and relevant. When you study with this school, you learn from people who are doing what you are studying daily.
